Green Temple has been around for over 20 years and you can feel why -- it's the kind of place that has genuinely earned its loyal following. The food was fantastic, and the setting is great too -- both indoor and outdoor seating, with a comfy, relaxed vibe that made it easy to settle in and actually enjoy the meal rather than rush through it. The owner was there and couldn't have been more welcoming. She's been at this for two decades and that warmth comes through. Haven't been here in a while. They added a neat Pasta on the entree list I may try later. It was an odd experience, after our meal I was commenting to another customer, it became clear they were having a bad day, or my humor was not appropriate to her-but the retort was a bit harsh and set off a disorder I have: Fainting! I fainted and when I came to my wife was by my side and the tall blonde manager/owner took the time out to stop by, sit down, and check on me, actually chit-chat-(that helps me a lot). I was upright the whole time-but the only thing missing from the picture was a fireplace and a dog. I felt safe and comfortable even though I'd fainted. It was nice cause I kind of unraveled all my anxiety after, he was really engaging. Glad I didn't faint at Jack in the box. :-) Talk about the all around service experience, this place responded great-he even asked if I wanted some tea. We hadn't been there in a while, but the food was great, portions seemed large and healthy-I got the Blue Plate special, Walnut Loaf for my wife-really filling healthy and the service was tight. Feeling comfortable and welcome was the successful focus. Extra bread for cheap really made it amazing. When I came to the other customer had left, but hopefully she got her sunglasses she left that we alerted the owner manager about, sorry if my casual attitude and conversational ribbing upset you ma'am-I trust you'll forgive me and simply remember your good food and service you had instead. I'm in love with their walnut loaf. We haven't been to the restaurant in a while but was craving the walnut loaf which is what I ordered and wasn't disappointed. It has so much flavor and the gravy is outstanding. Who needs ground beef meatloaf when this is available? Hubby had the Italian wedding soup and it was also delicious. I've been waiting to try this place for some time now and I wasn't disappointed! All the food was very fresh and tasted like it was made from high quality ingredients. The ambiance was really wonderful, especially in the outside courtyard area, they have beautiful string lights above with heaters running as well. I'll definitely be coming back here to try some of the other dishes, but I so happy I finally got to try their famous tofu sauce in the pasta I had. The service was a little on the slower side, but we were the only table sitting outside and there a little bit later in the night. Also, The peanut butter chocolate pie did not have much peanut butter, it was mostly just a chocolate pie, still delicious though. So if you're a peanut butter lover, know that it is a very misleading name, haha. The drinkable chocolate dessert is also very bitter and I would not recommend that one. Decided to give this place a try while in Redondo Beach and it was a good choice. The service was great, our server was super kind and helpful. Inside is small and cozy while a roomier outside heated patio is also available . We chose to dine inside as the ambiance is so welcoming and relaxing . Our server was so nice, wish I had asked for her name. We started our meal sharing a creative spinach salad, followed that with stuffed tamales and a veggie bowl with the a delicious tofu dressing. Both of us were quite satisfied when the server brought the dessert menu. All of a sudden we couldn't resist the toasted blackberry pie, a perfect ending to a meal. Great outdoor dining option if that's your style. We came here as a fairly large party 6 adults and 3 kids and were seated right away since we showed up shortly after the place opened. The menu is pretty large so chances are you'll find something that sounds good. My kiddos were all over the bamut pasta, good pasta with sauce and some veggies. They also had seasonal items too! Service was really good and the dining area was nice. It felt like someone's backyard kind of. It is mostly enclosed so gives more of a private setting though the top is exposed but it wasn't sunny since the surrounding buildings were tall. They also have heaters for those cold times. Parking may be tricky depending on when you come. They do have about 3 spots dedicated to the place towards the south side of the restaurant. Otherwise seems to be meter or street parking nearby. After a couple of bad experiences with the owner I stopped coming. It's been years since I've returned. I decided to try it again. I ordered one of the bowls with steamed vegetables, brown rice, black beans and tofu sauce. I also ordered a green drink. The bowl was delicious but the tofu sauce was thin and watered down. Despite this I enjoyed my meal. The green drink was refreshing. The server was friendly and attentive. It was a warm day and I sat outside in the patio. You can get it with regular cheese or substitute vegan cheese (which is tasty and flavorful). They come with a side of guac and salsa. This is an amazing restaurant on the corner of Catalina and Ave 1. It is very easy to find. I discovered this place because a friend of mine lives literally a 2 minute walk away. Mexican is my favorite food and this place made me a believe that eating healthy can also taste good. The wraps are my favorites. The mixed berry lemon pie is my favorite.
