I had tried another salon and the colorist recommended very different options that didn't meet my needs. Stefano gave me what I wanted and was knowledgeable. It's also really nice to know the products are organic, high-quality and have less chemicals. I've noticed the salon before and it's gone through a refresh/rebranding. I told her that I'm super busy and I don't really have time to style my hair and she was gave suggestions for how to achieve the same look but with some tweaks to fit my lifestyle. I had a blowout here yesterday and was not super in love with it honestly. I didn't really feel like they listened to what I wanted and it was $85 for the service. I showed a reference image and did not feel like the blowout look like it at all. There weren't rollers or pins available either which surprised me. I got a haircut the other day and I wanted to like it. My stylist finished my cut in less than 30 minutes! (I have long hair) and did not style it well. For a cut, it's expected some care and time goes in for a cut. It was quite surprising. I asked for long layers and it came out quite choppy. It was cut too short and there was no stop in asking how it looked. I give the benefit of the doubt most times for a salon, but the time spent and overall cut was less than ideal. I'm hoping it'll grow back as it's hair. I've cut my hair once before here with a better result . Unfortunately it looks like the stylist who I had visited previously is not on the here anymore. 3 stars as the person working at the reception was friendly. JUAN IS THE ONE!!! Juan is a stylist here and I came to see him for a color. This is the second time I've gotten color by him AND THE WORK IS CONSISTENTLY EXCELLENT! I recently had my first hair cut from Juan at Green Twig. I walked in with uninspiring hair and no real idea about what I wanted--I could easily have walked out with a shape up of the same ok but kind of blah style. When I mentioned to Juan that I was open to ideas he had one immediately--shorter and a different shape than I would have imagined myself but I decided to stay open to his idea, especially as he told me this cut would bring out my natural curls and also open up my face, which to some extent was hiding behind my hair. So glad I did stay open as I love this cut--it does indeed highlight my face in a way I needed without knowing it. I've tried different stylists and salons in SF over the years and more often than not I've found that stylists hold back on offering ideas, which honestly is what I have been looking for. read more
