The greenery!! My family and I make the drive to the greenery from las cruces a few times a month probably- that's how much we enjoy it. All of their menus are fresh and tasty and I have enjoyed every meal I've ordered. For breakfast I tried the omelet with bacon, chile, mushrooms, cheddar cheese and it was great- very cheesy. I always get the zucchini muffin it's by far my favorite- so unique and not too sweet but oh so delicious. I could honestly just eat the muffins here and be happy. I've tried other muffins such as blueberry and I think I had a pumpkin and they are all splendid but I found that the zucchini makes me the happiest! I've also tried the nachos and enchiladas here for lunch and again they were very good. The nachos were pretty big and I could have actually shared the plate as I had to take more than half home which I didn't mind the leftovers at all. The burger here is also a good go to if you're unsure of what to order and always add the green chile! Service is always great and the wait staff has always been friendly and accommodating and is always checking on us to make sure we have what we need. Thank goodness for a restaurant in El Paso that is not a Mexican food place! The, menu is extensive. The service is very slow. It took an hour to get 2 pizzas and a salad. The mushroom pizza was good. The spinach artichoke pizza was not. It was soggy in the middle and had only a couple of pieces of spinach on each piece, and I only tasted 1 artichoke. And it had literally 2 cups of fried onion on top--That was not in the description. The quinoa and avocado salad was huge, with really fresh ingredients. Just an ok experience. read more

I met some friends of mine for dinner last night at the Greenery after getting fitted for a tux at The Men's Warehouse. My best friend is getting married and we thought after getting fitted we would meet for dinner. We decided to celebrate his upcoming marriage by ordering some great bottles of wine. We ordered a CDP Jannase Chaupin which is highly rated. We also ordered an Australian Shiraz by the name of Trobeck Run Rig. Two phenomenal red wines which are very rare. The wine list deserves 5 stars easily. The waiter comes and takes our order and I tell him we purchased two bottles of wine next door in the wine shop. The waiter said he would grab the bottles and bring them to our table. He came back with some horrible stemware that wasn't adequate for the wine we were drinking. I politely asked him to bring out the stemware that was appropriate for the wine we were consuming. He looked totally lost. I then asked for the owner and he was off for the night. The manager came by our table and brought us finally the proper stemware. We asked them to decant the wine and they looked at me as if I was speaking French. The waiter brought by two decanters and we decanted the wine ourselves. The food was actually good. I ordered the bakka ribeye which has a lot of flavor. I had to tell the waiter how I wanted my steak. He didn't ask! I'm sure it would have been overcooked if I had not suggested how I wanted it grilled. The steak came in pink in the center and was served on top of mashed potatoes. The presentation was nothing special. If a restaurant is going to offer fine wine and food experience the staff should be trained properly. The waiters could make so much more on tips if they only knew the proper protocol. The Greenery should have been a four star rating but the staff knocked it down one star easily. Note to owner: train your staff properly! read more

What happened to this place? It's just a mess now. Was it sold off or something? Food quality has gone down tremendously. Service was good, but refilling tea was all that was done because the kitchen took forever to get appetizers out...15 mins for soup? 40 minutes after that out entrees came and food wasn't that great, and this was the lunch special. The food here is great. Everything is FRESH, and I've never had a chicken salad sandwich as good as the one I ordered from here. The restaurant is conveniently located inside Sunland Park Mall so it's nice to grab some good food after some long hard shopping! I've been coming here for what seems like my whole life, but probably more like the last 15 years. Every time I come back to El Paso I make a visit and the food is still solid and just how I remember it. I usually get the grilled chicken salad or Mexican food here and it never disappoints. The muffins that come with the salads are fantastic... Zucchini or cranberry Orange is what I recommend. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because you never know what you're gonna get for service and the prices are a little outrageous for what you get, especially for it being in El Paso. It doesn't matter though because the food is good and very consistent so I'll certainly be back here. read more

I called to see what soup they had today and they had potato soup, my daughter is visiting from out of town and wanted this soup. We walk into the restaurant and we were seated. We sit there waiting and are not helped. Two waitstaff looked over at us and walked away. Two other ladies came in about 5 minutes after we did and were sat. The young man who sat us went over to them and asked them for their drink order! At this point I get up because we were there first. I walked all the way back to the kitchen and say hello is anyone going to help us? The girl responded she is getting your drink. I'm like really? That's funny no one ever asked us what we wanted the drink! I walked back to my table and told my daughter we are leaving. One of waitresses that was looking at us earlier came over and started with her apology, I told her we are out! After I left the restaurant I called the manager and gave her a piece of my mind. Just excuses and apology. Trust me I will not go back to the restaurant. They weren't even busy! Their business is dying just like Sunland park mall! read more

We use to eat at the Greenery at the Sunland Park Mall in El Paso,Tx several times a month. Today we were close by so we decided to stop and have lunch. We were extremely disappointed. FIRST of all it is very dark inside the main room/ SECOND, I asked for NO Tomato on my sandwich. Of course it came with one. I sent it back and then had to wait for them to make another one WITHOUT tomato. The servers response to the tomato mistake was a simple "Oh". THIRD, my husband had to ask for ketchup for his fries. The bottle given him was beyond disgusting! It had caked on, dried up ketchup on the cap and down the side- my husband was afraid to touch it. (he got up and got another for himself) FOURTH, there was no regular sugar on our table for our coffee. The server brought us THREE packages. (They must be running out!!) Needless to say we won't be eating at the Greenery any time soon!! read more

We had been wanting to try this place and finally made it in on Saturday, June 9th at around 4:00pm. The experience started off bad when we first met the hostesses, who seemed to be upset that we had interrupted their personal conversation. Even though the restaurant was almost completely empty, she decided to seat us in a back corner. After several minutes of waiting, our waiter finally came by and took our order. We also asked him for two straws which another employee brought out holding them WITH HER BARE HANDS. These were UNWRAPPED straws. We had finally had enough and made the decision to leave after we noticed lipstick and food on one of our water glasses. Extremely disappointed and have no intentions of ever coming back. They could definitely use some training in customer service and hygiene standards. read more

I used to really like this restaurant. But my last 2 visits were not so great. Their tortilla soup I recently had was awful. Greasy and really heavy. No fresh flavors, just felt like a brick in my stomach when I ate half of it, even after I fished out all the cheese that filled 3/4 of the cup. Their menu claims to have the best beef and fish sourced from the best places. This is questionable because I had their "wild" salmon and it was not. The coloring and consistency was absolutely farm-raised. The waiter apologized and said he would ask but never came back with a real answer, nor did a manager come to defend their fish. Service was slow and erratic. Wine eventually came and then the beer after we reminded another wait person. Companion stated her salmon was great. Her spouse's lasagna was warm at best. My companions BLT was awful. Cold, and the bread had, I suspect, come out of the freezer. My salad which arrived at least ten minutes after the other entrees was OK. Had a reservation somewhere else nearby that looked like we would not be seated at the requested time. We went across the parking lot to Greenery; we had not been in some time. We were able to walk in and be seated immediately. The fact that the restaurant wasn't a madhouse made it feel more "Valentine-sy". Our food took some time to come out, so we ordered chips and guac...our server was kind enough to comp them (great chips and very fresh guac). We had sandwiches with fries, not what we intended on this day, but the food was fresh and hot. The regular beer battered fries and sweet potato fries were excellent. The rye bread on my reuben was softer than most I have tried which was a great (+) surprise. Portions were generous and actually precluded us from ordering dessert...too full! I'm not from here. I'm from Austin. I feel lost. Then I walked into here. It's Saturday about eleven a.m. and I'm here for brunch. My husband I are immediately seated and our waiter arrived promptly to take our drink order. Moments later my water arrives with lemon in a mason jar to further illustrate the environment of refreshing. Coffee was delicious and paired perfectly with banana waffles. These waffles! Melt in your mouth, does not need syrup, topped with toasted pecans and served hot! (But not too hot) husband ordered Seriously Good french toast which came in three large pieces of perfectly played toast topped with strawberries. Both our dishes were served with sausage which was grilled to perfection. Our waiter came back several times to check on us, refill our coffees and water and ensure our visit was enjoyable. Eating here reminded me that I live in the desert in more ways than one. Glad I finally stopped here during one of my semi-annual trips to ELP. I am always thrilled to eat at places with more than one vegetarian or even vegan selection. The Iron Man salad would have been more than enough as a meal, but I rarely resist asparagus and had them lightly battered and fried. I probably only eat anything fried a couple of times a year, but this was definitely worth an exception. Delicious and the server was great, too. Competent, quick and unintrusive. Just wish the restaurant didn't make a visit to the mall inevitable. But it next to Forever 21 and The Dress Barn, downstairs. So, I will definitely come back. read more

I just came back from having lunch at this restaurant. I will never go back it took them 45 minutes from the to serve a table of 5. Yes you can say well you have 5 people, but our orders were all salads and they didnt even have 4 tables. I mean it was so slow. Also the Waiter was texting while we were waiting to get our drinks. Went here for lunch with a friend. I had the chili pepper poblano soup and it was outstanding. My friend had the Spinach Salad with Salmon, and your choice of muffin comes with it. Tried this restaurant while in El Paso for a business trip, and after reading fairly good reviews here on Yelp. I have to say that I agree with most of the other reviewers in the food I ordered was pretty tasty. Had the ciabatta panini with chicken and mozarella. It was a little light on the dried tomatoes in which I was disappointed but overall still enjoyed it. My coworker had the soup and sandwich combo - half a Reuben and a bowl of tortilla soup. He also enjoyed his food very much. I would definitely go back here. Only complaint I had is the waiter took a while to get us our bill. The food was there on time but we had to wait a while before we could leave. read more

We've been going to this restaurant for years. Always it was a pleasant experience. Lately, however, the quality of food has gone down. Last night I ordered the green chIle meat loaf and my wife ordered the chicken tampiquena. The meat loaf had a good taste, though it definitely wasn't freshly prepared and the mashed potatoes were just that, mashed potatoes. Not the mashed potatoes that usually accompanies the dish and the caramelized onions were so hard and not fresh as they were uneatable. The best soup to accompany this would be the Chile poblano, but it's only available Thursday and Friday. I had the potato soup which wasn't bad. My wife's dish was a disaster, so bad she sent it back, the enchilada was so over cooked you couldn't cut it with a knife. It usually is well prepared and tasty but apparently the cook didn't know how to prepare the dish. He simply cooked another enchilada and placed it over the old hard enchilada! Service wasn't up to usual standards. The hostess had to find waitress and to get her to take our order. Usually we order muffins for desert but desert option wasn't even offered. Waitress just dropped off check and left. I hope things change, we have really enjoyed this place before but don't know if we'll go back. Also, seafood way over priced and clam chowder soup no longer an option. read more

Actual visit 4/9/13. Chipotle balsamic glazed pork chop with sautéed calabacitas, black beans and red peppers over a green chile cheese tamale finished with corn silk sauce. I can't even guess how many times we have visited the Greenery - 5 to 10 times a year for fifteen years. Amazing how large their menu is, and they do everything well. We've been there with our kids, our parents, and by ourselves, and have never been disappointed with the quality of their efforts. This is a review of the market part of The Greenery only. I took a girl to the actuall restaurant once, but I've since forgotten what either of us ate... Anyway, the market (which is right next door) is a great place to find all sorts of food and wine that I promise you wouldn't find anywhere else in EP. The wine selection is amazing; with wines from all over the world, you are definitely going to find something to your taste. I once overheard the (winemaster? chief wine taster? I don't know what his title would be...) telling one of his apprentices that he has personally tasted every single wine in the place. What a cool job! The only gripe I have, and it's a small gripe, is that the selection of New Mexico wines isn't very large. They also have a big cooler full of great and exotic beers. They actually sell the beers in individual bottles for between a buck and a half to two bucks, depending on the beer. They also have all sorts of salsas, and these can be pretty expensive (six dollars for a jar!). But the flavors are unique and it's locally made, so it's definitely worth it to me. There's salads, sandwiches, meat, cheese, all types of jams, basically anything you could want. It's great. They also have a coffee bar with decent coffee and a barista that I'm in love with haha. How can you go wrong? Great place, highly recommended. read more

My family has been going to The Greenery since it was located in the Popular, an old department store. We've go to know the Hines pretty well and are excited their restaurant is continuing to do so well. You really can't beat their hamburger or fries. The fries taste so fresh, not frozen. Plus don't forget their rolled taco plate. The flautas are thick full of juicy chicken - not like some other places. Plus their muffins, especially the zucchini , makes for a great breakfast or even a dessert. read more

Ok, it was a nice place once. Today we brought a friend. The staff was scarce, the carpet was worn. It took forever to get service. And when we were waiting we decided to try a croissant. No staff anywhere! We went up to the podium and asked for a croissant! So we got that, and it was actually good, my friend's 4 year old loved it. Then the food came. My friend ordered French toast off the brunch menu. It looked impressive, but in reality it was just fried bread, we don't even think it was dipped in egg. She tried to eat it, but it just wasn't good. So when we finally saw our waitress again I told them she didn't like it,but she tried to and it just didn't work. They took it and asked if she wanted to try something else. So she ordered pecan pie. She asked if it was warm. The waitress said they could warm it up. When she got it, once again impressive looking, but the first bite was magma hot! She burned her tongue on this little bite of pie so bad she couldn't eat anymore. So that was it for her. Spent the rest of her time drinking ice water. My husband ordered something off the menu and was disappointed at its appearance, but he ate half and found it satisfactory. I got the pita sandwiches, which I had before, and as before they were great. The waitress was so apologetic about the food, and they didn't charge for the French toast, which was cool. But they have to work on having the staff be more visible and available. And the food needs some work, especially because it's a bit pricey. I will skip this place for a while, and watch and see if it disappears. read more

One of those places that when you're out of town you think about and miss. It has a wide-range of foods with something that will please everyone. I am a personal fan of the salads (Greek) that come with a muffin, which you can and should buy by the dozen next store at the Greenery Market. If you feel like something more filling they have fish on the menu that is flown in daily, which is rare to a lot of places in El Paso. Their special menus, that are available sometimes, can add a more sophisticated twist on their general menu. For example the weekend menu offers great selections and if you're looking to order off the regular menu this is the time to do it. It is truly a light in an old, mediocre Sunland Park Mall. read more
