This was slightly better than mall food. Maybe it's because they're in the middle of construction, but my salad was hardly fresh.

I don't know what all the hype is. This place was rated pretty high, but the service was slow and the food was only mediocre. There were three in our party. One ordered a sandwich and the bread was hard to the point of almost being inedible. Two others ordered chicken tampico. The chile was tasteless and bland. It cost almost $50 for just three of us for lunch and we only had one lemonade on our ticket along with the three entrees. Don't waste your time. read more

We went back today for the fist time in 6 months, and I'm so glad that we did! We used to frequent the Greenery for brunch, but had stopped because of the horrible service we received time after time. Today, we received EXCELLENT service from Emily! Plus the food was exceptional! We enjoyed the veggie omelet (which was stuffed with yummy veggies) and the fajita salad which was also delicious (although my dad did miss the Matador salad which is no longer on the menu). Hadn't been to the mall where this restaurant is located for several years. Now, thanks to the great service and food, we will be visiting regularly. Immediately upon entering this charmingly inviting business, I felt special and happy. Why? Because the entire staff is happy and pleasant. Large groups and small groups as well as individuals were sitting in comfy booths or tables surrounded by twinkling lights, great art from local professionals, and quietly playing guitar music. I have been back several times and have enjoyed all of the entrees, wines, beer, salads and desserts on the extensive menu. Took 30 minutes to get our food. I had Huevos Rancheros. Eggs were over cooked with chillies on top. No sauce at all. Over priced and a disappointment. I will gladly wait for good food and pay the price. This is not one of those places. Quality and quantity needs work. read more

It's been a while since I've been to the greenery and that is just fine with me. They don't know what they want to be, village inn, a fine dinning restaurant or a damn drive through. The food is extremely plain,in inspired and safe. It's a place where teenagers who know nothing about food go to on their first date. Did I mention that they are over priced? I guess they have to pay for the spot in the mall, the should have been put in the food court area at least there you know the food isn't that good and they don't hide that fact. Beware the veggie burger! The texture is very, very odd. Other than that, this has got to be one of the most reliable places to get a great meal here. It is always fun to tell out of town guests that you are taking them to eat at the mall. The Greenery always surprises them. Good food, huge selection, nice surroundings, and good service. Interesting experience with the Greenery. First off, they overcooked my girlfriends sandwich to the point it couldn't be eaten (not a good thing). However, and this is HUGE to me, they did everything they could to make it right. We were in a little hurry so we didn't want to wait for another to be made, so they took it off the bill, no fuss, and also brought her a blueberry muffin (which is AWESOME) just to try to make it right. Service goes a long way, and I will continue to go there based on that. My meal was very good, if not great. Overall, above average food, but great service. This is one of the nicest places to have lunch in El Paso. (Of course, that isn't saying much.) The service is generally good here and so is the atmosphere. They have very good brisket tacos, but now that I'm vegan I opt for the portobello mushroom fajitas. (To my knowledge, these are vegan.). Ehhh. That's what I think of last night's venture to Greenery Restaurant. We decided to take 12 high school students to Greenery Restaurant so I was able to see a wide variety of the menu and there was a wide variety of responses to their food overall. To start with we chose the place because of the extensive menu and ability to provide everyone in our group with a dinner option however, the prices were a little inflated considering the quality of food. I ordered the arugula salad for $12 with no meat. It was pretty small and definitely not worth the money although it was an okay salad. Another person in our party ordered a pasta dish and they were out so he had to settle for a burger. One exception was one member of our party got the club sandwich and I wish I had ordered it the whole meal. It looked wonderful and plentiful. Overall everyone was okay with their meal, but the prices were not fitting of what you can get in this area and the fact that they sat us right next to the mall entrance so we did still feel like we were in a food court the whole meal. The highlight of the night seemed to be the Italian sodas which everyone seemed to ooh and ahhh over so I guess they were excellent. Was it good to try it out? Sure. Would we go back? I know this is an El Paso favorite because it's been in business for 30 years. They have their old standards and they try and keep up with the trends, but in my opinion, the newer food falls flat. The Greenery is one of our favorite restaurants in El Paso. My husband and I have been there quite a few times and each time we always leave happy. The service is great and the food is delicious and fresh every time. We love their bruschetta and their muffins are amazing, I'd definitely recommend getting one to go after your meal. Conveniently located in the Sunland Park mall. and the hotel I was staying at I checked this place out for din-din and was pleasantly surprised. I tried the bruschetta and the tuna tartare (weird combo, huh)? The bruschetta was a bit well done but overall very flavorful. The tuna tartare had nice heat to it. I had the vanilla bean cheesecake with raspberry sauce on top and think that was the best part of the meal! The service was pleasant, tho it seemed to take a while to get my food. Waited 10 minutes to be seen by a waiter. But the waiter we had was very punctual and quick with orders and refills and bringing out our muffins. They ran out of gluten free muffins which is something my girlfriend said is typical. That lost a star. Then I ordered ahi tuna steak "well-done" and and it came back as medium rare. It was mostly "rare" and was not corrected. There went the 4th star. I'll be back because the waiter we had was great and accommodated the mistakes with free muffins and our meals tasted great. Maybe I just had a bad experience, but the food was not very good at all. I ordered the maple glazed salmon and received an under cooked slab of salmon with catsup on it. The "new" Greenery has a lot to recommend it. It has a very ambitious menu, with American, Mexican, Healthy cuisine and a nod to Asian cuisine. On Fridays and Saturdays they have sushi night. If you like Koze's, you'll like the Greenery's sushi. I had the tuna poke appetizer. The fish was amazingly fresh. It is served with some shredded seaweed and tomato/avocado. The menu offers chips but only 2 were provided.thats weird. And they were strange chips. Later I realized that they were fried pieces of their pizza dough (more on that later). The menu offers lots of salads and sandwiches which I found welcoming. I have tried the Thai noodle salad. It was pretty tasty and it comes with a muffin of your choice. The tuna melt sandwich features green chilies and avocado and a side dish. The dinner menu ranges from tamales to meat loaf and steaks. The Greenery also offers wood fired pizza. I selected the Bianca which is described as having a combination of cheeses, including Parmesan, Gouda and fontina. It sounded great. The pizza appeared to look perfect with a slightly charred bubbled crust and melted cheese on top. On tasting it, the crust had a non- pizza texture. Slightly chewy but very light. The chips with the poke appetizer had the same slightly chewy texture. I will also give the pizza points very liberal use of roasted garlic, which I love. As I chewed my first slice I waited for that sharp fontina taste to kick in. Never did. Instead I detected the mild, slightly nutty taste of Swiss cheese. What?! Swiss cheese on pizza? Couldn't be. It was not a good match. I diplomatically asked the waitress to ask the chef what cheese were used. She came back to tell me that, indeed, Swiss was used. No fontina, no Gouda. I'm guessing they ran out. Still, I would not have ordered this pizza if I knew it featured Swiss cheese. Did the kitchen not think we could tell? So, for this reason, the Greenery only gets 4 stars. And the moral is: always verify the ingredients given on the menu (at another restaurant they used iceberg lettuce in the Caesar salad as they'd run out of romaine and didn't bother to mention that when I ordered. Not a big fan of iceberg Caesar salad. So make sure you're getting what they're promising. Nevertheless I will return. Post-script: pizza tastes great cold as leftover. read more

Went to lunch there today and it's my last. I am visiting from Miami,Florida to celebrate my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. When we arrived we requested a booth towards the back of the restaurant, just in case, the children got noisy. We were told we couldn't sit back there (and before we left there were tables with people eating!) They sat us in a booth in the middle area of the restaurant- ordered our drinks, which came quickly and put in our order. We waited for 45 minutes and still had not gotten our food! 3 tables came in after us and were all served before us.! Needless to say, I stood up to find our waitress who brought out only one out of the four dishes. There was no interest at all in making amends or explanation to let us know what was going on. We walked out and will not return. Of all my visits here with such wonderful restaurants and friendly people I have many others who are interested in my business. read more

We stopped in for dinner after a long, busy day with little to eat. Ordered two glasses of wine, an appetizer and mac and cheese from the dinner menu. The appetizer was minuscule, consisting of three small pieces of bread with a nondescript topping, then drizzled with barbecue sauce. The mac and cheese was yummy, but what a disappointment to be served a lonely bowl on a small saucer! No salad, no veggies, no bread. Additionally, we had to pay extra for any additions to our mac and cheese such as meat or chilis. The service was okay. The atmosphere was a little too dark, but had a nice calm. Indeed I saw another diner using her cell phone flashlight to read the tiny print menu. The meal total before tip was $50. For that much money, there should have been more food. read more

My husband & I had a bite to eat at the bar after buying a few things at the market next door. The service was a bit slow but not terribly bad. The wood oven pizza menu caught my eye, so I ordered a Margharita pizza & my husband had a burger. My pizza was bland, I have definitely had way better pizza before. I would forgo the pizza next time. However, my husband's burger was very good. We bought a few things at the market, which has a nice variety of gourmet items. If I could put zero stars I would. I went there and walked up to the hostess podium. The hostess was just going off to seat a party so I patiently waited my turn with my wife. A couple of minutes passed and another party walked up behind us. The owner came up to the podium and looked right past my wife and myself and proceded to seat the party behind us. I go here at least once a month, even though it is a bit of a drive away from where I live. I absolutely love the food here. I recommend everything but the French Dip sandwhich. There is hardly any meat on it and the meat was extremely chewy. Everything else I have had there was great. I love the atmosphere and the large and varied menu. You can get burgers, salads, Italian and Mexican food here so everyone will be happy. Make sure to get a muffin to go. JUST DO IT! You won't regret it . read more

Stopped at the Greenery for a late breakfast last Sunday with friends. We arrived just before 10:00 am - opening time. By 10:10 someone finally opened the door. The staff was bustling around, but no one made any attempt to seat us. Once we finally got a table, we perused the menu and made our choices. One of the people in our party asked for a pineapple mimosa--"sorry, we don't have pineapple juice". So then she opted for s peach bellini--"sorry, no peach bellinis today". Two of us ordered the Border Patrol Benedicto. Sounded like a great change-up from the traditional Eggs Benedict. The menu indicated that the eggs and Canadian bacon are served on a ciabatta bread--sounded like a nice change from an English muffin. When our orders arrived, I saw the eggs and Canadian bacon but no ciabatta! The waitress said they were out of ciabatta, so the chef substituted a slice of baguette. I lifted my egg and bacon and sure enough, there was a tiny slice of baguette hidden under the eggs and meat. Oh well, guess I need to cut back on bread anyway. The dishes tasted good, but overall we were a but disappointed in the surprises and lack of preparedness. Maybe we'll come back for coffee and a muffin next time. read more

I don't know what the issues were in the kitchen, but our server brought chips and salsa on the house. Also, the pasta dish my daughter ordered was on the house since they were out of gluten free pasta. I haven't been back to El Paso in many years. I came in for the weekend. The Greenery used to be a great place to get something to eat- not anymore. I ordered the Thai Salad and has eaten about 1/3 of it when a fly crawled out from under my lettuce. I brought it to the attention of my server. She treated this as no big deal. I spoke with the manager, apologized, but again, they are aware of the issue and taking steps to correct this problem. I had to ask for my entree to be removed from my bill. A portion ( not all) was discounted. Very disappointed. read more
