The transaction was smooth from start to finish. The woman who answered my call set my expectations the right way and I appreciated that she kept me apprised when there were any changes. Ben called to let me know when he was on his way, arrived as expected and he did fast and efficient work. Not only is he a very affable and courteous person but he is also very knowledgable and proficient, and even advised against installing more hardware (even if it meant more $ for him) because it would be an uneccesary cost for us. Ben is simply amazing ... he's like your knowledgeable and trustworthy neighbor who will go out of his way to help (and not in it for the money). We wanted to get our locks re-keyed and upon showing up, Ben demonstrated how easy it is to pick our locks (which are cheap, mass produced locks used by builders). You would think Ben would then sell us some expensive promises - nope, he proceeded to suggest the types of lock we should consider and taught us what to watch out for if we decided to go DIY. Ben spent ~40 minutes with us and didn't get paid for the job he came for, but he left with a smile and such an amazing attitude that it's not an understatement to say he's last of a dying breed. Tonight he out did himself by removing the mother of all bike locks (the New York Kryptonite) from a rack at the Menlo Park train station for my daughter who'd lost both keys that opened the lock. We heard that it couldn't be done, but Ben pulled out this mean looking power saw and the sparks started flying (see the photos) and soon enough, the bike was free at long last. I never thought I would be happy to be locked out of my house. But because I was locked out I got the opportunity to meet Ben. When I called him, he first asked me to send him a photo of my lock. I decided to replace my front door lock with kwikset smart key and made a backup key but somehow the smart key was overwrite the the master key. I didn't realized until the closed door and ended up locked myself out. I called a few local locksmiths, few didn't callback or didn't the right tool to unlock kwikset smart key. I got locked out of my home couple of hours back and insurance company messed up sending a car locksmith instead of a home locksmith. The locksmith is so amazing and friendly. I got locked out of my house, and I left all the spares inside. I didn't have much time to call for help because my battery was about to die. I called the locksmith here and he said he'll be on his way in 30 minutes. He kept in constant communication through text message. His rate was very reasonable. Suddenly, I received a call from my dad saying he has one of my spare keys and that he could come over and open the door for me. I texted my dad earlier but I assumed he wouldn't be able to help by the time my phone died. The locksmith had just left and was on his way. I let him know that I had a way in but I would compensate him for his time. The guy was so nice to not accept payment even though I had wasted his time. Ben is THE man. He's the most honest, trustworthy and helpful person - WAY above expectations and the competition. He's the only person you should talk to for your locksmith needs. Fact. I called him to get a quote to replace a front door handset and lock and to rekey the lock in my garage. Other locksmiths gave me a quick quote, but Ben insisted on having pictures of BOTH locks before offering any quote. What a pain this guy is...so I thought. He ended up giving me the most thorough and precise assessment of my situation, more so than any other locksmith. "Your two locks are different brands, we can't just rekey your garage...your door frame in the garage is metal...etc." The numerous observations were so helpful and proved his experience and mastery of his craft. However, that's not even the most impressive part: he coached me how I could do all the work BY MYSELF! His transportation fees at the time would've been more expensive than the job itself. Great customer service. I called GreenKeys on a Sunday afternoon and explained that my purse got stolen (along with my house keys) and I was afraid that someone would come to my place in the middle of night. After that, Ben graciously agreed to come Sunday evening to changed my door locks. Now that is a genuinely kind act...thank you so much Ben! Two suggestions: this is a mobile shop so don't expect that he is physically there 24/7 (do call him to make an appointment). Also, don't call him late at night asking for him to come over and make copies of your keys...he'll charge $100 just to drive there so probably not a good use of your $ when you can get it done at Orchards or Walmart :-) read more
