I was having trouble figuring out how to lock a door and called Ben to ask if he could help. He asked me to email him some pictures of the problem, and within 2 hours (during which he was working on a job for another customer) he called me back and over the phone talked me through the process for locking the door, and just like that the problem was solved! Wow... This guy knows what he is doing, smart, well-spoken and extremely tech savvy. Wish every service provider knows their craft like this guy. He really explains the situation and what he plans to do before he does it and about how long it will take. He really enjoys his work - and that's awesome! The request I thought was simple - change the locks on the front door and garage door and their handles. I thought I bought everything I needed at Lowe's - but... the "dummy lock" was the wrong one... So... he offered to come back and install... AND - get this... he offered to buy the part I needed and waive the return fee. Wow - nice. Of course I paid for the part but still... He still installed the other lock in the garage AND... on the non-dummy lock - he installed an August Smart Lock on the front door. Before he arrived - I called and told him I wanted to install the Kwikset smart lock... He recommended August Lock. So... I bought the August - and he installed the August lock - works like a charm. I called him last night around 10:30 pm because I was locked out of my house without a key, with 4 kids. He came quickly and throughly explained which route would be best to take in order to get inside because we have multiple doors he could have opened to get inside. Imagine you've bought your first house, and today's the day that you get your keys. Sure, there's a bunch of keys, but they all look the same, so you grab a couple that look different. Then you leave the house - locking the bottom lock on the way out, and using one of the keys to lock the top. You're so excited that you go back to your apartment, fill up the car with boxes and head over to your new home... Only to find that the keys you have are for different locks on different doors. Yep. I locked myself out of the house within an hour of getting the keys. Luckily I could stay at my apartment. So I went home and to bed and called GreenKeys in the morning. We locked ourselves out from our own bedrooms. Yay, total losers right!? After searching all over yellow pages and 1-800-take my $$-jerks, my roommate and I finally found Ben on Yelp! He came over within the hour. Dude, he even took his shoes off, Asian home here, how awesome is that?? We explained the whole situation how we locked ourselves out thinking both of us had our keys...doh. "It's in my room" we yelled. He was kind and understanding; he even called in advanced that he was pulling up. He opened my room opened within minutes and I swear it was like magic. Ben came by after the door repairs were made. I had him look at the back doors to see how they could be secured better. After some discussion, I opted for 2 slide bolts with 1 of them that you could lock with a key after sliding in the bolt. Ben had them installed within 30-60 minutes. The locks had to be mounted on some wood make the bolts high enough to fit into the frame. Ben was able to get into his mobile workshop and craft 2 pieces that fit perfectly on the back of the slides. I am truly impressed. So here is the thing that I would say is great about Ben -- very honest and very personable. We had a great discussion of options and he gave me his opinions and did not put any pressure on me to purchase anything. It was pretty much up to me. Yup. So I just had my GreenKeys experience and all the reviews that led me here are right. Ben is flipping awesome and HONEST. He didn't just rekey my locks but taught me about keys and why and how they work, true heart of a teacher. As soon as he can clone himself the world will be a happier place for locks and lock owners :) I used the coupon, which I appreciated. I almost used a company who pretends to be cheap by offering a low service fee but has an unlimited per lock fee in their favor. My deadbolt and doorknob only cost $117 including the service fee and discount to have rekeyed. And that's only because I'm a little ways out of the service area. The rekey only took about 20 minutes, but we spent forever talking because Ben is just a cool dude. Hopefully we customers will start giving his other workers a chance because everyone wants "The Ben experience" his employees aren't getting out on jobs as much. Ben promises that he has trained his guys so that every GreenKeys experience is the Ben experience whether he's present or not. So give them all a chance to wow you. Very impressed with his friendliness and eagerness to help. He responded to my emergency call right away and he took all the time in the world to help me assess the situation with my door which was broken into by burglars earlier during the day. I recently moved into a new office space. The front door has a split door with each half of the door having its own deadbolt. One deadbolt needed a key to lock/unlock from both inside and outside. "As good as it gets!" doesn't even begin to explain the level of customer service and quality standard that Ben of GreenKeys has... I had an rather urgent "need" to get a house key copied at 8pm on a Sunday evening and after seeing his face (on the ad) on Facebook and seeing his name around as a repeated referral among friends, I thought of GreenKeys first after realizing any of the big box hardware stores were already closed. I called the number listed on their website and reached a very pleasant lady, named Connie, who was polite enough to deal with my panicky phone call etiquette. After a recent break in at our house and compromise of vehicle keys, I reached out to GreenKeys. Since we wanted some work done within the day and Ben was unavailable, we didn't end up having him come to do the work. Ben did, however, spend a tonne of time on the phone with me, talking me through various things like identifying how much work would be required to rekey parts of my vehicle by inspecting it. He was very thorough with his work and answered all my questions about locksmithing. I'm his 411th 5 star review, so there isn't much for me to add that hasn't already been said. Typically I like to do things myself. I go to Home Depot, buy what I need, read instructions, watch Youtube videos, and fix things on my own. However, when it comes to things that need to work perfectly every time I'll hire someone. Locks to our home fits in that category. Sure I could buy something at Home Depot but when I thought about how badly I could install it and how my house could be unlocked for days cause I couldn't figure out how to install a house lock I realized...nope gotta call someone who knows what they're doing. I needed three locks changed in my house. I called GreenKeys Locksmith at 8am. A very nice lady answered and was able to book a same day appointment between 3-5pm. Due to them being really busy they didn't arrive at 5pm. They did call to tell me what's up and by 5:30pm, Ben actually came. He was very apologetic for the delay, apparently his partner was supposed to come out but was slammed with another gig. Ben looks at my locks, makes some suggestions and offers some advice without hard selling anything. Then he got to work. Changed the locks in under an hour, some parts were stubborn, but overall a very smooth and easy experience. Cost was very reasonable. Ben was very nice, not weird or ghetto in anyway. I would totally hire him again. I ask a lot of questions of people who come to my house to fix stuff and Ben was the lucky one who got to hear all my questions. He was very patient and open with all his knowledge.
