They also seemed to have a good selection of freshly baked breads and pastries on their menu, but I was here around 11am on a weekend, and their shelves were pretty empty. Hard to find parking and burrito was colder than ice, i should of just returned it when i cut it in half and the cheese wasnt even melted. Very disappointed. Woke up late on a weekend in so much pain from my period and I just wanted a comforting breakfast burrito without a stupidly long wait. Went to Greenlee's bakery and it served!! There wasn't a lot of people just one family eating outside when we got there but our order did take a while. My partner got a breakfast sandwich and I got the veggie burrito. I probably could have eaten half of the burrito but I finished 3/4 of it. We each got a cinnamon beignet with our orders for free, and we also got a cookie and a pastry. We did have to remind them for the beignet but they were really good, even the day after! I can't say the same for the cookie though (even though it looks absolutely delightful with the huge chocolate chips) so I'd just stick to what they're famous for and get the beignets. read more

Greenlee's Bakery is a San Jose gem--and after 101 years, it's easy to see why they've stood the test of time! Their cinnamon bread is legendary. Street parking. Indoor seating available and they have a great outdoor seating area with umbrellas. We came in for breakfast and tried their breakfast burritos, which were generous in size and really well-priced. The flavors were on point, and their house salsas took it to the next level--fresh, flavorful, and with just the right kick. The chipotle was my favorite. To top it all off, they gave us complimentary cinnamon beignets made from their famous cinnamon bread dough!! Total surprise and SO good! They're more like donut holes, soft and packed with cinnamon sugar goodness. I would come back just for those alone. Can't wait to stop by again and try some of their pastries. I was walking Alameda with some family and I never been to this bakery before they said let's go. It's really good and we went. I saw they had food on the menu and I wanted to order some food. I haven't eaten yet today. I told her what I wanted to order and she said the kitchen is closed just selling the pastries and I asked her. What time do they usually close the kitchen she said too so they close like 30 minutes early. I don't think that's fair to customers if you close at two close at two, not before and I'm a first-time customer and she made a sound under her breath and rolled her eyes my family sat down at the table and I went next-door to get some food and I brought it over and we sat at a table and we ate the pastries and the food I got she comes out to us not the other people saying that we need to leave we're closing in She didn't mention anything about what time they're closing. I didn't know my first time there she was like well you could've googled it and then she got attitude and just unacceptable behavior. She could've said you can see you for like five or 10 minutes to finish your food because we did pay in purchase pastries from this bakery. She just wanted us gone. I felt so disrespected and rushed, and it was a terrible disgusting experience. That lady that works there very high school needs to learn proper communication with customers. I discovered this great little bakery around 3 months ago. My goto is the almond cake. Absolutely delicious, makes my taste buds dance. Never disappointed...until today. Got a piece to go, tipped and out the door. Got home and saw only a half of piece in the container, yet paid full price. I love this bakery! I just moved into the neighborhood and every Sunday morning I go for a walk and end up visiting this very clean and nice bakery! They are very welcoming! That goes a long way with me! Kindness! I ordered a single white mocha hot and bacon breakfast burrito. Im hooked on the coffee! I must've gone almost everyday last week just for the coffee! It's not to strong yet very tasty! And just the amount of caffeine i need to start off the day! The bacon burrito pairs well with this if your not feeling anything pastry although you should definitely try there bear claw! All in all, and great bakery located on the alameda! Great breakfast food and great bakery items as well! I was originally ordering from here through UberEats and GrubHub and I was never disappointed with anything I ordered. My favorite is the Greenlee's French Toast Breakfast which is their cinnamon bread made into a french toast. It's really good, sometimes I just order a slide of the French toast. During my first in-person visit, I saw their case of baked items and decided to try a few. The lady who helped me was very nice and patient since I was asking the flavors of the questions and how much things were. After buying a bag of a few cookies, I tried them in the car and they were really good! Their large cookies are less than $5 each, but they're really big cookies. My favorite are the smaller cookies! I believe they were 95 cents for 1 and they were really good too! Since my first experiences were delivered to me, I was a little nervous about where the parking would be. Luckily there's a parking lot in the back! The downside is that it's shared with a bunch of other businesses and some parking spots were marked/reserved for specific businesses. So unfortunately during rush hour, it's hard to find parking. The only other downside is that Greenlee's is only open until 2:00 PM. I understand that Greenlee's is more of a breakfast/brunch place, but it would be nice if they were open a little later so we can go after work on the weekdays. I definitely would like to come back on the weekend again to try more items! read more

Finally had a chance to try the spot everyone's been telling me out. Just moved to the neighborhood and the recommendations to try this spot never end. And boy does it live up to the hype. The cinnamon smell that hits you is enough to fall in love. The beautiful pastries in their case made it difficult not to buy everything. This time around we tried a bacon breakfast sandwich, which comes with their famous orange sauce (chipotle garlic heaven). I would buy that sauce alone by the gallon. After trying Greenlee's a few times, I definitely understand why it's a local favorite! Their breakfast burritos and well-known cinnamon bread are absolutely delicious. I usually go for the chorizo burrito which has a perfect ratio of meat, eggs, and potatoes. Pair that with one of their salsas... delicious! I also appreciate how their orange sauce isn't overly spicy and has the right amount of kick. I'm usually not a fan of sweet breakfasts, but their cinnamon bread is quite addicting. I do remember seeing some Greenlee's loaves sold at local grocery stores. The orange juice was refreshing as well. Definitely will consider coming to this place in person when I get the chance. Wow times have changed. Was booming 30y ago. They pivoted to a wholesale business selling their cinammon bread in stores with the green bag. There are cookies and danishes in the display cases. Some of them are papered over. Looks like the walk in traffic and cake business is dead 4.50 for a danish. Couldnt eat them.. too much sugar. Nice casual cafe-esque bakery for grab and go and a wonderful spread of loaves. Though their thing is baked goodies, they seem to also have a spread of foods and caffeinated drinks. Their specialty is cinnamon bread, which is strangely without a menu so you gotta ask for that directly. Since we were more in the mood for a smaller portion than a whole loaf we opted for a white mocha, cheese danish, and a waffle. Folks behind the counter were extremely welcoming, friendly, and quite helpful figuring out what our options entailed. White mocha - 3.5/5 Solid mocha, but not too remarkable otherwise. Coffee isn't the strongest flavor nor is the chocolate flavor very noticeable. Works well enough as a drink to go, but not something I'd come out of the way for. Waffle - 4/5 Served either plain (what we got) or with more savory breakfast fixings (egg and bacon). Solid waffle, but misses the mark on its execution a bit. The concept is using dough from their cinnamon bread, but it's remarkably dense. Definitely sweet enough on its own, but without additional fixings it ends up a tad dry (it does come with syrup, but I wasn't looking for more sweet). Doesn't quite get crisp enough even with a fresh waffle so it doesn't quite hit that fix. Cheese Danish - 5/5 A smidge sweet for me, but wonderfully creamy filling and flaky with a touch of crunchy (I think sugar crystals on top). Gets much better with a refresh in the oven, yet still pretty good to munch on at room temp. Whoa! Stumbled into this treasure due to our go to Crema place having something off today. We thought we'd walk around and return in 10 or 15 minutes, by after walking into Greenlee's Bakery "just to see what baked treats they offered we were surprised in the most pleasant way possible. First they have an extensive assortment of food items including outstanding Breakfast Burritos & Breakfast Bowls. Delicious Illy coffee and amazing sweet treats. Second (or tied for first) is the over-the-top customer service. Greeted and treated like gold from Sergio! Generous, personal and boldly and confidently encouraged us to let him know how we felt about the breakfast which we ate there, as well as wanting to know and give our input on our next visit for the loaf of their Cinnamon bread that we left with to try at home. I believe we may have even seen the owner as there was another very hard worker performing many behind the scene tasks as well as answering the phone (wearing a Green colored sweatshirt). This review is strictly regarding Greenlee's Bakery's burnt almond cake. I am a huge fanatic when it comes to Peter's and burnt almond as a whole. Whenever I come across the opportunity to try this particular item, I don't hesitate. With my niece and her bf highly recommending Greenlee's version, I was super hyped about getting my hands on a slice. @ about $9 a slice, GB's version is quite different from PB's. In my honest opinion, I'd prefer sticking to my usual @ PB. The filling inside can only be described as a sticky, condense milky texture and level of sweetness- too sweet for my liking. It is nothing like the light & fluffy consistency that I look for/anticipate. While I wouldn't come back for the burnt almond, there are a few goodies I'd love to try. I first learned about Greenlee's through its airport location! I was intrigued and wanted to visit the brick-and-mortar shop in downtown SJ. Located on one of my favorite streets, Greenlee's is a historic bakery that will be celebrating 100 years in 2024. This fall, my husband and I picked up one of their iconic cinnamon bread loaves and it was delicious. Seriously addictive. I went back this morning to grab some holiday cookies for a family dinner. There are so many cookies to choose from and all so pretty! I also got a fresh-squeezed orange juice which was the perfect thing, and a veggie breakfast burrito. Items are a bit pricey ($5.95 for a small bottle of juice, $12.95 for a breakfast burrito without any meat) but the quality is there and the portions are generous. Plus, the staff are all friendly!
