This was my first time trying Terra, and I thought it had a nice vibe but underwhelming food. I was able to easily make a last-minute reservation on a busy Sunday afternoon. Check-in at the host desk was fast and the hosts were very nice. We started with the focaccia alle erbe. It was a nice crispy bite before the main courses. Can't go wrong with bread. I got the little gem salad while my friend ordered paglia e fieno all' astice e limone (lobster pasta). Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the lobster pasta but it was good. Very simple and buttery. The salad was refreshing especially as we sat outside on a hot day and the sun was starting to set in our faces. The staff was super accommodating and attempted to adjust the umbrellas to block the sun for us. Maybe I'd try different dishes if I came back as the food we did get seemed pretty simple considering how much everything cost. read more

Came here for brunch and was extremely disappointed. I ordered an aperol spritz and spaghetto carbonara. The spritz tasted all Aperol liqueur and no spritz. Just a nasty bitter after taste and I've had plenty of aperol spritz in my life. The entree was just gross. Noodles were al dente, which isn't always a bad thing.. but the sauce was also thick and curdled. The entree was hard, sticky and unpleasant it to eat. Only giving stars for the service because the staff were so nice and attentive. But the food leaves a lot to be desired. read more

I hadn't been to Terra for a few years. A lot of the problems with the reservation system I mentioned in my earlier review are gone. We just walked up and got a table. We sat at their outdoor patio. Service is really nice at this place; the staff is welcoming and friendly. The only minor setback was that they didn't put in an order for a side of potatoes until after our mains were delivered. I think the potatoes were amazing - really worth ordering. We got the tuna and cauliflower as mains, both were really good. I think they used to have free bread, but now it's $10. It was really good though it seems like everything is a la carte and pricey. The caesar salad is "made at your table" but it is just a regular caesar, nothing exciting. I do think their food is overall really good, and it was nice to sit on the patio. I would definitely return and try different things. read more

Terra is attached to Eataly and had I not been browsing restaurants on the Yelp app, I probably would have continued to not notice Terra. Our group had reservations on a Saturday evening and we were seated on the patio. Although there was an umbrella covering the table, the sun was on the other side of the building so there was no glare or direct sun to speak of. We shared many of their dishes. The standouts for me were the Burrata, Squid, Lobster Pasta, and the Paccheri Alla Brace pasta(min. of 2 servings). We had several rounds of Manhattans and they were well mixed. Our waitress was polite and checked in on us often enough. Overall, the food is closer to 3.5 stars, but considering the layout and relaxed vibe they have curated, I am comfortable with 4 stars. read more

I came back here after not visiting for a few years. I'm pretty sure they had a menu change because the pasta is 10x better than it was back then. But now, I definitely want to come back! I was in town for work and met up with my team for dinner at Terra in San Jose. There were 12 of us, and it turned into one of those evenings I'll remember as much for the conversation as the restaurant itself. The dining room has a warm, inviting feel. It was busy, but everything flowed smoothly. Our servers kept an eye on the table all evening, so we never had to wonder where the next course was or whether anyone would come by to check on us. The menu offers plenty of choices. Around the table we ordered appetizers, fish, pasta, salads, and desserts. I chose the grilled yellowfin tuna, and it was cooked perfectly. One thing that made us laugh was the salad. A colleague ordered one, and we both expected a medium-sized portion based on the price. Instead, it was enough for about three meals. She kept joking that she'd ripped off a rabbit's dinner. Would I go back? Definitely. If I'm back in Santa Clara, Terra will be on my list. read more

Made same day reservations for my party of 4. They had a live DJ when we were there on a Thursday evening around 8pm. We shared the focaccia alle erbe, patata fritta, grilled beef skewers, cavatelli ragu rustico, and tagliatella agli asparagi. Focaccia was ok. I had higher expectations for their bread but it was on the bland side and texture wasn't great. Patata fritta was fantastic, potatoes were crispy and the dipping sauce was delicious. Grilled beef skewers were pretty good. The biggest misses for me were the pasta dishes. The cavatelli ragu rustico missed the mark for all of us. The pasta itself was good and al dente, but the sauce was watery, flavorless, and the shredded pork didn't complement the dish too well. The tagliatella agli asparagi was better - pasta was al dente too but the sauce wasn't as flavorful/creamy/decadent as expected. I think overall the food wasn't that worth given the steep prices. Definitely more for the ambiance than the food. Glad I tried once though. read more

We love the Eataly in Las Vegas, so went to check out the Eataly at Westfield Mall. We saw that there was a happy hour going on at Terra, so we thought we'd grab a bite. They have a beautiful dining space with indoor and outdoor seating. It's really a gorgeous place to enjoy a meal. * Hummus Di Funghi HH$5 - The mushroom hummus was good with the toasted bread, but you could probably use more bread as you're left with extra hummus. * Polpetta Di Wagyu HH$8 - This wagyu meatball was not great. It was mushy and the texture was not a good feel in your mouth. (I did try a wagyu meatball at another Italian restaurant later in the month, and know this can be made better.) * Gamberi E Zucca HH$7 - This comes with two shrimps and a slice kambocha squash. It was enjoyable. * Insalata Cesare HH$5 - The gem lettuce salad is light and simple. (They were out of the Ostrica Alla Griglia during happy hour.) * Spaghetto al Pomodoro E Ricotta Affumicata $26.50 - This was quite enjoyable. * Tagliatelle Alla Norcina $33 - Very creamy and rich with the black truffle butter. * Lamb Arrosticini 6 for $17.50 - Nicely cooked lamb skewers and the accompanying Espelette Pepper and Sea Salt flakes are some of the best parts. Closer to 3.5 stars. I loved the ambiance and the rooftop seating, especially on nice, warm days. I had no idea Terra existed on top floor of Eataly until recently. I had dinner reservations with friends on a Saturday evening. I started off my evening with a Strawberry Grove Spritz(non-alcoholic) drink and it was tasty and refreshing. I will say that our group ordered several dishes to share but the hands down winner for me was their Paccheri Alla Brace pasta(served table-side) and requires a minimum of 2 persons at $28/person. This was maybe the most delicious, creamy, fresh pasta I've had in a very long time. Our waitress was efficient and polite. Overall this is a joyous atmosphere and the food is solid. read more

I decided not to write this review right away because I was honestly very upset after our Mother's Day late lunch at Terra in Westfield. But even after a week, the experience still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so I feel the need to share it. First, my son called ahead to ask about reservations and was told that reservations were not needed because they accepted walk-ins. We arrived about 30 minutes later only to be told they couldn't seat us because it was Mother's Day and they were fully booked. After I explained that we had literally just called, they finally agreed to place us on the waitlist. Thankfully, we were notified within 30 minutes that a table was ready because we were starving by then. We were seated on the second floor, which honestly felt more like an overflow extension area than part of the main dining experience. Fine -- we stayed positive and ordered our food. For drinks we ordered 2 Strawberry Grove Spritz for $14 each and since they don't serve complimentary bread, we ordered the $9 Focaccina Alle Erbe. The serving was very small and honestly, I should've not ordered it. Then came my son's $66 Wagyu steak. According to him, it was the worst Wagyu he's ever had -- cold, bland, and tasteless. There wasn't even salt on the table, and we had to request it. Next came the Pacchero Alla Brace pasta, which costs $56 total with a required minimum of two orders. The serving size was shockingly small -- maybe around 30 pieces of Paccheri pasta total if I counted correctly. It was also lukewarm, with no bread whatsoever on the side. Honestly, my boys even agreed that my homemade pasta tastes much better. We intend to eat the paste with the Spiedini Arrosticcini, it was served a bit later and again COLD, and I could not believe the portion size. Six tiny mini beef skewers for $17!!! I'm not exaggerating when I say tiny. Even a child would probably still be hungry after that serving. By this point, one of my sons still had not received his entrée while the rest of us were nearly done eating. When his $37 Pollo Affumicato finally arrived, it was the first REAL hot dish served to our table. He was excited and shared some with us because we were craving something warm. But after cutting into the thickest part of the chicken, we saw blood. The chicken was undercooked. We informed the server, and at first she tried to brush it off by saying it was "just near the bone." As someone who cooks, I know chicken must be fully cooked, and I even mentioned salmonella concerns. She finally took it back to the kitchen and later returned saying they were recooking it. At that point, I was completely done with the experience and asked for the check because we were ready to leave. I even decided not to have dessert, which says a lot because dessert was honestly the part I had been most excited about from the start. Before leaving, the "recooked" Pollo Affumicato was served to my son. Oh, it was a new one actually but here's the catch, when the bill arrived, my son noticed they charged us for TWO Pollo dishes instead of one. Thankfully, my son caught the mistake because I had already walked out of the restaurant by then out of frustration. They 'corrected' the bill afterward and wrapped the extra dish. Terra, I truly expected more from you. When we dine out as a family, I always tell my boys to order what they want and not worry about prices because we value the experience of good dining. We've eaten at far more expensive restaurants and happily paid because the food and service matched the price. It is a great place for a family dinner or an intimate date night spot 5/5 service is always extremely fast here especially compared to their sister restaurant next door. The servers are courteous and friendly no matter how busy it gets 5/5 food-- the lamb skewers is a family favorite along with the pasta. Their menu is always changing which keeps it fresh and exciting. My personal favorite pasta dish however is the cavatelli with beef and sausage. 4/5 parking is readily available with the parking garages nearby however parking is only free for 1 hour then you get charged with a daily max of $15. Long time walker-by, first time trying and it's so worth it!! Beautiful rooftop ambience with great views, and if you come around during dinner time the lighting is perfect for the most beautiful photos. Highlight for me was the pomodoro spaghetti. Cooked perfectly al dente, sauce was just the right amount of tang. Another favorite were the lamb skewers, absolutely delicious with a squirt of lime and crushed salt. I would love to give 5 stars, but the pasta and Caesar salad were missing something. The lettuce in the salad seemed like it had just been washed and wasn't properly dried before being mixed with the dressing. The octopus was absolutely delicious so flavorful, and I loved the sauce served on the side. I also liked the Mediterranean potato. This place is a gem that we landed at by accident! We had intended to go to La Pizza & La Pasta, yet decided to give this a go and very glad that we did! Leading off, Joe and Jasmine were quite a dynamic duo of a waiter and waitress that took great care of us. We ordered Fistful of Dollars and Lavender Collins for drinks to start. An afterthought was me wishing I would have asked for a lava salted rim to go with the Fistful of Dollars and I will order this next time! We then ordered skewers to start things off and went with the Spiedini (Chicken) and Funghi Trombetta...both were quite incredible and very flavorful! My gf loved the Trombetta and I loved the chicken! We then ordered the Tagliatelle Alla Norcina for our main dish and we were nothing short of impressed! It was amazing and a nice share size for a date night that leaves one with room for dessert! It was a fantastic pasta with a very flavorful cream sauce, sausage and mushroom! Topped with some Parmesan cheese! We then closed out with the Easter Special that was the Eataly Colomba, which was well worth it! Light and very flavorful with a nice crème topping (can be substituted with chocolate if you so please!) What an overall experience this was and with the decor and vibes, well worth the money spent for an Italian restaurant. The interior design is modern and inviting, though some of the tables are placed close together, so you end up sitting near other customers. Parking is convenient with a garage nearby, but you will need to go up to P4 to access the restaurant. You can also park outside of Eataly, which may be easier during peak hours. We started with focaccia barese, which was a great appetizer. The exterior of the bread had a nice flaky texture, while the inside was soft and airy. The patata fritta were also enjoyable, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a texture and flavor similar to potato wedges. The broccolini was cooked nicely, though flavor wise it tasted like standard broccolini without anything distinctive. Customer service was phenomenal. Our server and the entire staff were attentive, quick, observant, and friendly, which elevated the overall experience! read more

But the real star of the show here is the pomodoro and the sourdough bread. Great place for drinks and catching up. I recommend the marigold spritz for something refreshing and delicious. Everyone was so nice; I met four employees total and everyone was just very professional and kind. They even sent me in a place where I wasn't in a sunbeam. The only reason this place gets four stars instead of five is because of the quality versus cost. The main dish made sense for being expensive because it was such high-quality. I got a happy hour "salad" & I'm glad it wasn't even full price because I ate it in three bites. I could've eaten it in two it was so small, but I tried to stretch it into three bites. Even when the server brought it out to me, I commented on how small it was. The beet appetizer with goat cheese, honey, and pecans was lovely. It was perfectly cooked and soft. We sat down on the bench because I was pregnant and needed a break. but then, the host seated and served a party that came after us because they were more assertively waiting right at the hostess stand. They gave that party the happy hour menu, but when we got seated immediately after them the host didn't give us a happy hour menu. When we asked for one they said they stopped taking orders for happy hour at 5:45 even though the the sign clearly says 6. That is so lame. We were seated at 5:45 and ready to order because we waited starting at 5:30 and looked online at the happy hour menu that they posted outside with a QR CODE. But they wouldn't give us a happy hour menu EVEN THOUGH they gave it to the party ahead of us who was seated only one minute before. Wow. It doesn't say anywhere that happy hour needs to be put in by 5:45. The hostess said she would ask her manager but then she never came back and the manager never came. If you say you're going to do something, do it. Don't offer and fail to execute. It would have been better if she had just said no. Server: We were a little miffed, but still wanted to give the restaurant a chance. We asked Octavio our server for a happy hour menu and he said he was surprised we didn't get one and that we can order from it as long as it was before 6! YES THANK YOU OCTAVIO. Bless you. But then he proceeded to tell us that certain items were removed, like the chicken wings. That's fine we still ordered, but it was mildly annoying to have a menu with so many changes and missing information but that's a management. issue. Octavio kept our waters full and served our food promptly and graciously. He was nice! The portion of the meats seemed small. We ordered 12 pieces, and it felt like a tease. Tagliatelle alla Norcina - 3/5 The portion was smaller than expected, and the pasta was slightly undercooked. Flavor was ok. Tonnarelli all'Astice - 3/5 Again, the portion size was smaller than expected, but my son enjoyed this. The lobster meat was small. You're just paying for the presentation at this point. Wagyu alla Griglia - 4/5 This was the highlight of the meal. The meat was tender, and the potatoes were crispy and flavorful. (Valley Fair) Food: Pane Otto- Sourdough 3/10- the worst bread I've ever had in a restaurant. It was incredibly hard to bite because of how hard it was. It hurts just to bite it. Giving this 3 not a 0 because the butter was good. Spiedo Di Pollo (6/10)- chicken was bland. The skewer had a lot of seasoning from your point of view but had no flavor. Should have asked for ketchup. Salad was fresh but lacked dressing. Tagliatelle Alla Norcina (6/10) - this pasta also lacked flavor and the pasta does not taste fresh. Feels like you are eating plain pasta with ingredients that does enhance the flavor. It is filling though Patate Eataly (8/10) the only great dish. Potatoes were cooked well. Not hard like a rock like the sourdough. Sauce was flavorful and tasty Ambience: I would only go back here for the ambience because it was beautiful. Sad that the food was bland. I don't mind paying for the price of the food if it was cooked well Service: great service. Our server was very kind which is the only reason why I didn't grade lower than a 3 star. The four of us were hungry, and I wanted to try someplace different. I discovered Terra on Yelp and realized it was one of the restaurants located in Eataly. We had a bit of trouble finding it at Valley Fair. I had never been to Eataly before and thought it was just one large restaurant! It turned out to be a really cool space that includes a wine bar, a pizza and pasta restaurant, Terra, and a grocery store. Terra is undoubtedly the most beautiful restaurant in Eataly, featuring hanging plants and unique gardening tool decor. We decided to order several dishes to share so we could sample a variety of items from the menu. BARBIETOLA - delicious roasted beets, goat cheese with pecans, citrus dressing, and Urban Truffle Honey. CALAMARO ALLA GRIGLIA - tasty grilled squid with tomatoes, capers, and marjoram. ARROSTICIN: We ordered twelve delectable skewers. They only have three kinds of skewers - chicken, beef, and lamb, but the server said we could only have two, so we ordered 6 of the chicken and 6 of the lamb. Tender and favorful! SPAGHETTI AL POMODORO: Since they make housemade pasta, we had to order this dish! It was great, but I'd order a different pasta dish next time. TERRA: A mouthwatering ball of chocolate and salted pistachio covered Bavarian cream. Too bad it wasn't ice cream inside, but it was scrumptious nonetheless. Terra is the restaurant part of Eataly and this location is on the 3rd floor of the Westfield Valley Fair mall. We went here for a sweet treat after lunch to get the viral gooey tiramisu. The ambiance inside, like other Terra's, was aesthetic. There's plenty of indoor and patio seating with picture opportunities. It's a beautiful place for a date, nice work dinner, or birthday celebration. The service was very good, our waiter was sweet and made sure to answer any questions/go through the menu. He also was nice about us recording the dish unraveling. Everything on the menu is a bit expensive, but the tiramisu is definitely worth it. The high quality ingredients are evident in the decadent cream cut with the rich lady fingers and cocoa powder. I'd recommend coming here at least once to treat yourself. read more

I'd pass on cocktails from here. For my meal I had the chicken and been skewers. They were cooked perfectly, but definitely relied on the salt for flavor. The food was amazing! I came for Thanksgiving dinner and to celebrate my Dad's birthday, and it was SO busy. The Wagyu was unbelievably tender, and the potatoes had that perfect crispy bite. I also tried the white truffle pasta and it was rich, creamy, and such a treat for my first time having white truffle :) read more

However the server and staff were incredibly friendly Food: the flavor was solid. Really enjoyed the cacio e pepe and trumpet mushrooms. I've been to Terra a couple of times now, and this place is really hit or miss. You'd think that since it's located inside Eataly, the Italian food and pasta would be amazing--but honestly, it's very mediocre, very expensive, and the pasta portions are tiny. The pasta dish I got (the one in the picture) was around $35, and for that portion size, it was pretty disappointing. It was just OK--lacked flavor and didn't have much meat. Now, their ribeye steak, on the other hand, was excellent. Very tender, great flavor, cooked perfectly, and a good portion size for the price. It's honestly so good that it beats some Bay Area steakhouses, which is kind of sad. We also ordered the sourdough bread appetizer, which was great--the bread was warm, the butter was soft and creamy, and the sea salt on the side was a really nice touch. The potatoes that came with the steak were also really good--kind of like countryside potatoes but more on the fried side, with a great crisp and simple salt-and-pepper seasoning. The ambience here is amazing. Lots of plants, rooftop setting, very romantic vibes. Service is excellent--they check in often and make sure everything is good. At the end of the day, this place really falls short on portion sizes and pricing when it comes to the pasta. It's just not worth it. But any of the grilled meats I've tried--like their chicken or the meat platter--are very solid and worth the price. So overall: go here for anything from the grill, but don't come here for the pasta. It's not worth it. read more

Eh it was ok. The best thing about this place is their patio seating and the decor. It would've been nice if the entire wall was (plexi)glass but the middle section is a wooden bench seating that covers any possible "view". Not a huge deal since the view is the courtyard of the mall.. Anyways, came here on a weekday afternoon. Staff were friendly, however, they chose to seat EVERYONE at tables immediately next to each other!! That was quite annoying and even when we requested to move, they said there was a party so they closed off one end but didn't say anything about the other end. Got some drinks and they were just ok. I've had better on the Row and will be going there moving forward but if you want a nice, lazy weekday afternoon and don't care about the drinks, try this place. read more

Located in Eataly, San Jose at Valley Fair. You can dine inside or outside on the balcony. Reservations are highly recommended as this place gets packed. The appetizer with the chimichurri sauce was excellent, as was the burrata dish. They do offer a gluten free pasta, bonus points to them, but I think for this type of restaurant, if you are GF, you are better off just getting something that is naturally gluten free, stay away from the GF pasta. I honestly haven't had a GF pasta anywhere that has the same texture and taste as regular pasta. Get the appetizer dish for your entree.
