What a great little place tucked back off of Middletown Road in Pearl River. Food is delicious and the servers are so friendly. They have a varied menu from amazing breakfasts, sandwiches and delicious entrees. Sorry I didn't take photos but after a Drs appointment we were so hungry. I had an avocado club sandwich which had marinated tender chicken breast, tomatoes, avocado, bacon, Swiss cheese and mayo on a great hero bread and it came with French fries. This restaurant is amazing and surprising. It's very pleasant to sit in the dining room and you'll find the weight staff is there to help you every step of the way. The food is delicious, and there's a wide range of different types of food. The portion size is ridiculous, you just don't see restaurants take care of their customers like this anymore. I've been bringing my family here for years, but won't return again. Regardless of price increases, I feel as if they simply don't care about customers anymore. My waiter (David??), doesn't know how to apologize or own up to his mistakes. He has been working there a while too. He told me something cost $18, then came back...oh wait, it's $29. Way off. I complained about my paella missing a key ingredient. He denied that it's supposed to be included. I complained to the owners son, showed the menu as proof, but nobody ever owned up or said a word. I mentioned it again to the waiter and now he blamed it on the chef. He just wouldn't apologize or own up to his being wrong. No price adjustments made. Three waiter also brought out entrees while we were still eating our salads. It also now costs more than $20 for a Greek salad with grilled chicken (after tax). A good spot for omelettes I made my way to Green Star this morning for breakfast, arriving shortly after they opened. Using the Yelp map feature helped, otherwise I could have missed it completely. While there is a sign by the highway, the restaurant itself is around to the side mostly out of sight. Pearl River folks would know where it is, I was just passing through, looking for a new place to try. We got off to a great start and the place is larger and nicer than I would have expected. This is not just a breakfast/lunch place. As I looked over the breakfast menu I saw they offered a long list of omelettes. I was thinking corned beef before I arrived and at the top of the list was their Irish Omelette, which includes corned beef. While I would have preferred corned beef hash & eggs, that wasn't on the menu, so Irish Omelette it was. An Irish Omelette includes potato inside the omelette, doesn't have cheese, and has not much corned beef, onion, and green pepper. It was huge, but kind of dry, like I belatedly remembered from other times at other places where I did exactly the same thing. For me it was a poor menu choice, but what I got was just what I ordered, so good job to Green Star. read more

Warning: menu is wrong, and the owner not willing to make it right for the customer. We got BLT takeout, 4 sandwiches. The online menu on Yelp (see attached) says "served with fries" but our sandwiches were served with nothing at all, not even coleslaw and pickle (which we later learned were supposed to go with each sandwich). When we called to ask about it, the owner asserted that the sandwich never comes with fries unless you pay extra. When we pointed out that the menu specifically includes fries, he said that grub hub must have made a mistake and offered nothing to make things right for us. Oddly, if the menu was correct, we would have bought the fries, and had full bellies. Now we are all hungry AND annoyed. Never going back. We used to like this place, but we can see that if anything happens out of the ordinary, they are not willing to work with you. I doubt that they will even correct the menu; he doesn't seem to feel it's his responsibility to make sure the Yelp menu is correct. read more

I've been to Greenstar several times. The food is good, the service is also thorough but our waiter was not very personable, just matter-of-fact. Acceptable. . . Prices are a bit high for breakfast averaging around $8 or $9. per meal. That's too expensive with all the available restaurants in the area. Otherwise, go. It's fine. read more

Simply put- this diner feels like home. Greenstar is nestled in the back of a shopping center and is very quiet and peaceful. The staff is super polite and friendly as well. But while the restaurant itself and its menu make it look like a typical diner, it is not. This place is a step above. The food is VERY good. The freshest meats and vegetables are used and everything is cooked to order so that it arrives at your table warm and delicious. This is officially our new go to diner. Had an absolute horrible experience at Green star. My wife and I ordered eggs, toast, and bacon for breakfast. Turns out they charged me $44 dollars for 2 orders of eggs. When I called the gentleman on the phone he told me he charged me a full side for my bacon and sausage. Blamed it on me saying it was the way I ordered even though he knew exactly what he was doing. We try to help out local businesses but definitely will not be going to Greenstar since they want to take advantage of their customers. I wanted to make sure to write them a very good review because sadly I do not think that 90% of their customers even know what the Internet is. The food and service has always been great. Nice big portions and everything is made to order. I love that the french fries always come out crispy. It is a diner so there is no specialty dish but everything is good. Great lunch special that comes with soup and ice cream. Ask to sit next to the window to the florist next door and you can see all the beautiful plants and flowers. P Picked up an order tonight. Got the deli panini with disco fries. Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe it. First the fries barely had anything on them. The panini was anything but... the bread was not crisp on the outside like you'd expect from a panini, instead it was soggy and falling apart. The corned beef was beyond chewy. My parents have been going to Greenstar for years and the owner/waiters have always been so kind to them. During the pandemic, they became shut-ins, so I was happy to stop by during a recent visit to pick up arroz con pollo for them. It was such a treat! I just picked up my dinner from Greenstar and I am so impressed with every detail. My order was taken by the owner, a perfect gentleman who is always warm and inviting. I ordered chicken quesadillas and Paella and asked if I could get Sangria to go. Within 15 minutes my dinner was prepared, packed, and before I blinked I was home. As I opened the securely tied bag I was blown away at the presentation. I received a container of ice, a container of carefully sliced assorted fruit, and my Sangria served in a beautiful fifth sized liquor bottle was so thoughtful and appreciated. Have eaten here with various groups and family members over several years. The food is delicious and fresh. The surroundings bright and welcoming. Everything clean. Wait staff friendly and efficient. One of the best things, I think, is that the owner takes a lot of pride in his establishment. When he is not greeting customers he is constantly surveying the rooms to ensure that nothing is lacking. Talk about satisfaction guaranteed!! A perfect place for after-church breakfast and a between-meeting quick bite. I also go there with groups friends for birthday celebrations. Have had lunch a few times here and each one was a totally positive experience. The food is tasty and hot and the menu just diverse enough and not overwhelming.
