I have to give this resteraunt a 5 star. I never ate there or been there a day in my life. Tonight I drove an elder woman home that was paid for by this resteraunt. I had no idea what was going on when I arrived but the woman told me as I drove her home! She was lost in the area and had no idea where she was. She went into this resteraunt crying and scared. She said everyone helped her in their and her it was okay and that she would be okay! They paid for her ride home. The young man who worked there walked her to the car and made sure I new her address and where she was going They even paid for it! She was extremely grateful! When I get his name I will repost it! What they did was absolutely amazing. When she told me.the story she cried with relief and and couldn't stop saying she was scared and they helped her. I teared up with her. I am a women of color and that elder women was a minority. Its not often you see something like this which was AMAZING!!!!! This was our first time visiting. The host staff was very professional, and We were early for our reservation, and they still were able to seat us. The portions sizes are huge, so be hungry when you go. The appetizers were amazing ! we had the fried oysters and the chicken empanadas. Been waiting for over 45 minutes for our food. A little ridiculous. The waiter has apologized numerous times but nothing has been done. Not happy camper right now. Greer Southern Table is still in its young days in Norwalk, having just opened about a year ago. The inside is bustling but homey, and the atmosphere matches its name in all the best ways. On this outing, we ordered half a dozen oysters ($15) and Crispy Pork Wontons ($12) for appetizers, and a southern classic Shrimp and Grits ($26) and the Drunken Beef Short Ribs ($26) for entrees. The oysters were light and fresh, and both sauces delicious and spicy, but far too intense a flavor to be served with an oyster, as using them would have completely drowned out the natural taste. The Pork Wontons were nicely fried and crispy, but the ratio of wrapper to filling was off, and made it difficult to even tell whether the filling was flavorful or not! Entrees arrived in a very timely manner. The Shrimp and Grits was a winner. The sauce had an incredible kick, the shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the cheese grits they were served on were rich and decadent without being overly heavy. The short ribs were fork-tender (or even spoon-tender) and the vegetable ragu underneath was also to die for when it came to flavoring. However, the horseradish grits were so intensely flavored that they were rendered nearly inedible, despite being the perfect texture. This is something to be wary of - this is not horseradish infused, this is like eating pure horseradish. Overall, we could see the great potential in such a charming new eatery, but our meal had highs and lows. We would return, but likely order differently next time. read more

When I did the search for this place, I used search "soul food". I would not categorize this as a soul food restaurant. However the ambiance is nice and we were greeted and immediately seated. The waiter was new and perhaps his status as new contributed to his service. He was polite. He did not explain the menu correctly. He forgot my companion's drink and when he brought it---i took a pic below. Everyone's drink, filled to top and garnished. That was disappointing. The first appetizers came out quick. But as we sat eating we heard him give a list of the specials to someone seated near. When I asked him about the specials he could barely remember them. It took a long while for the meal to come out and it was not what he explained to me. The food was really good despite the subpar service. After I indicated that he has given incorrect information, he did not come back to check on us for at least 15 maybe 20m. The manager did come over and was very nice and again despite the service, the mimosas---which are not bottomless---are good but they max out at 5--so you really only get 2 and 1/2 at the bottomless price. read more

Was excited to try Greer for brunch as it ranks high and the menu sounded delicious. Unfortunately, it was overhyped and service was disappointing. First, a latte literally took 30 minutes to get. I guess they had to go out and get oat milk because they were out, but we ordered "whole" milk. Regardless, if a coffee was going to take that long to get, just tell us and we could've changed the milk order (or in this case corrected it). When it arrived, it was not a latte, it was coffee with milk poured in, no foam. In the meantime, while waiting for coffee, we received our order of the cheddar chive biscuits with bacon jalapeño jam. But it arrived with strawberry jam, and when I asked for the bacon jalapeño jam, I was told it was out. That's a big flavor profile of that dish so it would've been nice to have known that ahead of time so we could have changed the order. That was disappointing, and frankly, the server was dismissive. The blackened fish bowl had good flavor, but the brisket eggs Benedict was small portioned, not flavorful, and hardly had any hollandaise sauce. Overall, the food was good, but not great, and the service was poor quality - we won't be back. With so many great food options in the area you really need to deliver. I'd recommend Valencia's, Terrain, SoNo Arts Center, The Spread for brunch any day, and skip Greer. read more

Just came for dinner and had to leave a review! I am so glad the owner from Peaches returned with this beautiful new restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and creates a wonderful vibe for dinner or brunch any day of the year. The food was just absolutely delicious. We tried the fried oysters, chicken wings, Mac and cheese with crawfish, cornbread and the gumbo ya-ya. We also had dessert . I highly recommend the peaches empanada. Best brunch I've had in a long time. I think this place is pretty new, but I hope it's here to stay. The space is very bright and inviting and the food is excellent. I came here with my girlfriend and we were very impressed. We started with cocktails. I had a Bloody Mary that was perfect by my standards, and she had aperol spritz that she really enjoyed. Then we split an order of the poutine tater tots and an entree that consisted of fried chicken, coleslaw, corn bread, and mac n' cheese, and we finished every single bite. Finally, we finished the meal off with a peach empanada which I thought was a pretty creative dessert. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Greer Southern Table is an amazing restaurant I discovered upon looking on Yelp! I was looking for brunch spots for myself and my friends and browsed the menu. Upon coming to the restaurant, it was a very lively, well decorated, and clean space. The employees are all welcoming, friendly, and highly knowledgeable about the food to give great recommendations. The food comes out in great portions to either share or eat alone, which makes it a fantastic place to order a few drinks, appetizers, and entrees with friends, eat, and socialize. There are many parking options available next to and in front of the restaurant including paid parking. I cannot wait for the next time I come back to Greer with my family and friends! read more

In the past few weeks, I coordinated two different group birthday celebrations in the private Savannah room, both for around 20 women. By the way, there also is a smaller private room accommodating 12 people. Greer Southern Table is a gem, and Fairfield County is so fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber serving delicious and authentic Southern food. The location is convenient, with street parking as well as garage parking. All in attendance felt like we were transported to a beautiful Southern manor home, warm and festively decorated. All the dishes were amazing, and particularly enjoyed the fried chicken (crispy on the outside and moist inside), the roasted chicken, (all the chicken dishes are organic and free range), cornbread, grits, mac and cheese, salads (especially the arugula, beet and goat cheese, as well as the squash and burrata salad), the brisket egg rolls, warm crawfish dip, roasted cauliflower steak, brussel sprouts, cod, shrimp and grits. Save room for the scrumptious desserts, including key lime in a jar, chocolate peanut butter explosion, mud mousse, and double banana pudding. The staff is just amazing, as they are helpful, warm and attentive. I have not yet Greer, the owner and namesake, but her partner and long term friend and director of private dining and catering, Kendall, is absolutely phenomenal, and so helpful and accomodating. I absolutely highly recommend Greer Southern Table, and look forward to returning again and again! read more

I really want to love this place but there are some areas of improvement: -The food needs some work. They are doing too much with so many options on the menu and should hone in on improving the basics first. For a southern place, I would expect the fried chicken and shrimp & grits to be top notch. Both were bland and largely overpriced for the quality. Every dish we had lacked salt. I can't justify $30+ for an entree that isn't excellent quality, and we've gone here twice and still been unimpressed. -Service: everyone is super nice but they seem in over their heads on a busy weekend night. They need to figure out a better flow because they have more than enough staff to manage the amount of tables. It just feels a bit chaotic. -Noise level: when this place is busy it gets very loud. It can be hard to hear. I would consider installing something to manage the acoustics. Not sure if we will be back anytime soon given the cost. If entrees were $10 less each, we would be happier with what we got. Fingers crossed this is just growing pains and this spot finds it's way!! read more

We just had a fantastic meal at Greer Southern Table. We had heard great things about it and the restaurant did not disappoint! The ambiance, the decor, the service and (of course) the food was fantastic. I started with an espresso martini and my husband had a glass of wine. We shared the boiled peanuts to start which were absolutely delicious and not too big. Perfect shareable appetizer. My husband had the shrimp and grits which he really enjoyed. Food was great. Just don't eat there on a Friday or Saturday night. They have bands playing music there, and it is too loud and echoes throughout their building. You can't enjoy your meal,or meet a date for a "get to know you" situation if they can't hear you. They should think about this during meal times. Came here for dinner last night. Wish I had taken some pics bc the decor was particularly lovely and airy. Staff was nice, and they seemed relatively organized for a new place. I was a fan of Peaches and my friend was a fan of Mamas Boy (former restaurants by same restaurateur) so we knew things were going to be pretty good. Our waiter recommended the crawfish dip which we all loved. I thought the boiled peanuts were off putting but my friends sucked them up (literally lol) and seemed to like them. I think the menu is missing some sort of fried chicken plate entree. They have a whole chicken bucket which my friend and I shared. I feel like not adding the option of just 2-3 pieces of fried chicken with a couple of sides is a missed opportunity. My gluten free friend enjoyed the fact that our waiter had an actual printed spreadsheet to show her that listed the food sensitivities by menu item. I'm guessing eventually it gets memorized by the waitstaff, but she thought the actual list was much better haha. Location and parking is great - there is a very convenient parking garage just steps away from the restaurant entrance. Looking forward to returning and trying more delicious food here. read more

This was my first visit to Greet Southern Table and it was wonderful. We were greeted by Kendall who promptly hung up my rain coat and we were then shown to our table. I had the Chinese Chicken Salad and it was amazing! The greens were served over a fried chicken breast and at first I was little surprised as I didn't know that the chicken was fried. (I neglected to read the description.). The chicken was moist and so delicious when paired with the dressing. I requested extra dressing and I was glad I did. The greens were wonderful and I was not disappointed. My dinner companions ordered the fried chicken and sides of collard greens and mac and cheese. Delicious! We topped off our meal with a warm cinnamon sugar donut and it was served with apple compote. Again, delicious! At the end of our meal, Kendall stopped by to tell us about the owner, Greer, and how she came up with idea for the outstanding decor. Simply beautiful! The restaurant has two private dining rooms also. Kendall couldn't have been more engaging and I felt more like I was in a friend's dining room than an impersonal restaurant. I will definitely dine here again and I urge you to visit this beautiful restaurant. read more
