Giving a 4 because the waiter really tried until came to the table with his shirt untucked ready to leave lol 1. Cauliflower was not a steak but under cooked head cut in 3 pieces put under a broiler at best. 2. Grits if you never had them, don't google grits because you would realize they should be creamy. 3. Tater Tot Poutine -I have no idea where to start but if you had poutine you may think where are the curds, if you haven't...you wont be searching for any curds. 4. Beautiful and cozy place for dinner. Went here with some girlfriends and we had a great time. The food was delicious and the drinks were strong. The server was attentive and nice with good drink recommendations. We ordered different dishes and apps. I'm not an oyster fan but their fried oysters were amazing. The only hiccup was to our great evening was the other staff (i'm not sure what her title was) but she started cleaning up our plates even though we were still kind of picking at our food. My other friend was turned the other way and when she turned to face the table, her coleslaw was taken already, which nobody noticed since we were all busy catching up. came here for my dad's birthday. And WOW! First definitely get their wings. The dry rub is awesome and full of flavors other than just "spicy". It is a great place for large parties and small. I had the best time on Wednesday night at Greer. I met up with a friend that was in town from Minnesota and we had the best time. The bar and decor in Greer is wonderful. The drinks- excellent! We also had the best server. He made some really awesome recommendations. Here's what I am definietly coming back again for- The steak! Rib Eye Steak with green garlic parsley butter, grilled asparagus and duck fat fingerling potatoes. It was amazing. We also tried their old-brined fried chicken, cornbread with honey butter and house slaw. Perfection. And the surprise of the night- the Trout! Carolina mountain trout filets, Muffuletta olives, brown butter pecans and pickled lemon. This was spectacular! If you are looking to have a party, their private room is beautiful! The bookshelves and the candles- wow! Also- dessert-wise--- the Banana Pudding! Holy smokes! And the Chocolate ganache style dessert- also a hit! First, our server was great; the issues were with the kitchen and the bussing staff. We are a family of four. My son ordered orange juice which came out sour and our starter was the crawfish dip where the chips were soggy/ stale. That was corrected. Our mains were all "interesting" and being from the south, and in my opinion, the combination of Cajan and Southern isn't working; it's one or the other. Greer's is trying too hard to combine two cuisines that are indeed different. We will not be returning. read more

My family and I have gone to Greer a few times and have always been impressed by the staff, ambiance, and the food. They change their menu often so that different foods can be tried. I would love to try the short ribs...it sound so divine!! The fried chicken is great and the I'm slowly eating my way thru the menu. I've been to Greers 3 times now and it has quickly become of my favorite restaurants. Everything I have tried has been amazing. I have tried the Chicken Wings, Pork Wontons, Brisket Egg Rolls, roasted Brussels Sprouts, Brisket Bowl and the Fried Chicken. I can't wait to go back to try the other things on the menu. My only complaint would be the noise level. So many hard surfaces there is nothing to absorb the chatter. We went in for heavy apps and tried lots of them. Staff is welcoming and knows the menu well. We've been here now a few times. First was great overall except the seating area Then we went again and it was good but they screwed up the seating so we ended up in a separate room so it lacked the atmosphere We went again a few weeks ago - not sure what happened this time round Crawfish dip - what happened to the portion size - its great but it felt like the portion we got was about a third or so less than normal Fried Oyster - the server spilled some of the contents off the plate - no apology or - let me get you a few more to make up for it Devilled eggs - great as usual Main courses all good But we had an issue getting some service - our guy was generally nowhere to be seen for some time, so much that whilst we got our first drinks in we ended up going to the bar to get the next round in.. he finally appeared and we said 'we had to go to the bar to get our own drinks'.. and he's like 'you could have asked'.. duh you were MIA dude!.. we'd even asked another server if we could get some drinks but they clearly have a demarcation thing.... as no response.. it wasnt even that busy - tables had started to clear as we came in around 8pm we took a couple of our friends and they were mostly pissed at the lack of service so much so that when it came to the bill and the tip they said 'we arent given the standard 20%.. we were going to pay 10-15% but ended up at 18%.. (still high and in hindsight we should have paid way less) I think based on portion sizes getting smaller, staff not caring when they drop contents of a plate (training?) and poorer service thats it for us - what seemed promising has lost its appeal.. our friends said 'we wont be back here'.. and neither will we... read more

Ok, you can refer back to my peaches review (prior owners, I believe) and see yet another rave for this restauranteur. Let's start with ambiance. Just a beautiful restaurant with live plants, interesting light fixtures and even a framed pic of Dolly Parton. Fresh and welcoming. Service was great. Dined here twice and both times Jason did great. Friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The food headlines. Great specialty cocktails as well. We had the short rib, beet and burrata salad with blackened chicken, chicken tenders and fried chicken (all white meat). All were great, truly. We really love the cheese and crackers too. Avoid when Greer's has a band. We walked in and walked out Saturday evening. The band was so loud that I couldn't even communicate with the hostess ---we were shouting in each other's ears to cancel our reservation. I, honestly, cannot understand how the people who were dining could even stay. Cacophony is the best word to describe Greer last more. A late review as i ate here 4 months ago... If you're into fried chicken this is the place, delivered with a bit of a modern vibe. The chicken is super, super crisp outside and perfectly moist inside, yet it wasn't overly grease-laden. I had chic/waffle. The waffle seemed to be made with corn iirc, and was savory. The best was the side of sweet/hot sauce. Onion rings were good, standard fair though. Ambience is a bit of a rustic, modern vibe. Def worth a trip back. read more

Our experience having dinner here for the first time was amazing. Great experience, ambiance, and delicious food. The place was quite packed, but the seating gave you enough privacy from other diners. They also have 2 large private spaces for large groups. This place is owned by and run by the same person that ran Peaches in Norwalk before COVID. We ordered the classic waffle chicken that came with 2 pieces of chicken alongside slightly spicy maple syrup, and shrimp with creamy grits. Both of these were super delicious - chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy inside, while the grits were super creamy with delicious sauce and large shrimps. Will definitely come back here with a larger group of friends and try some of their other dishes on the menu. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Greer and their amazing staff. We had a family party there and it was the best decision we've made. My family could not stop raving about it. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. They set the private room up so beautifully. Service was impeccable, anything you asked for was brought out almost immediately. The staff was just above and beyond. They stored my flower bouquet in the fridge, they provided music when we requested, they set up the desserts we brought beautifully and sang happy birthday. My husband and I went last week for lunch and were impressed on every level. The decor is lovely and the service was superb - Josh explained the menu, made suggestions and offered friendly but unobtrusive service. And the food. The best were our mains. I got the friend chicken with cole slaw, delicious cornbread (I got an extra piece to bring home) and the best cheese grits I have ever had. My husband had the gumbo ya ya and whoohoo it was so good. The misses were the brisket egg roll - it was good but not something I would ever get again and the banana pudding. I guess we just aren't banana pudding people - I've never had one I liked. Also since I took home half my lunch we hardly needed the extras. We will be back - soon! read more

This is our second time here and both times we have really enjoyed the food. The peach burrata was so good; wish it was 4 pieces instead of 3 though since you either have to order a second order (which is what they want you to do I guess) or someone has to share that one piece. We also got the brisket egg roll and it was delicious and full of good taste. For our main course two of us got the chicken and waffles and 2 got the 4 piece chicken. The chicken was all delicious as was the cole slaw and the side of Mac and Cheese was excellent. I think I would have liked more syrup on my waffle but overall delicious and why we went back because you don't get chicken like this up north. We were too full for dessert but had such a nice waiter. Unfortunately he told us he is leaving and we noticed the manager on duty last time we came in was also gone so a little disconcerting to hear about issues like that. Went to celebrate friends retirement. Took a long while to bring our drinks. Also, can't believe there is not one vegan option on menu. My friend had to have side of succotash and fries and Brussels sprouts. Most items are Cajun, jalapenos and spicy. Need to add more plain options. Not everyone likes duck fat, tallow. The place was pretty empty and they seated four men right near our table and a friend had to move her seat. The person refilling water was constantly filling glasses that weren't near empty. When our main courses came they were trying to clear our appetizers that weren't even finished. The nice thing that happened was they brought three of us champagne to celebrate, and brought two non alcoholic ones but we thought they weren't so they were not drunk. read more

Greeted without reservations and immediately seated with gracious host. Service prompt and delightful for a rainy night and restaurant packed with guests. Prompt efficient service and every request executed quickly. Dinner was way to much food but moist tender chicken, my collards were on the sweet side and a little to much pork fat for flavoring, coleslaw deelish, and best cornbread ever, those 4 pieces of chicken were perfectly cooked and crispy. My hubby had the gumbo and it was honestly gone in a flash. We ordered the crawfish dip with tortilla chips that was divine, perhaps was too much. The restaurant itself was beautiful but the food was really disappointing. Everything on the menu sounds good in theory but it was so bland and the steak was very overcooked. The chicken on the chicken and waffles was a very small portion considering it was served on the bone. Really a disappointment we will not be coming back! ALSO very disappointed that the menu specifically calls out to ask your server about gluten free and Fodmap diet but they didn't even have gluten free bread and very few options and the server didn't know what a Fodmap diet was. We have been regulars at Greer for a couple of years now and like it. However, we have had two unpleasant experiences in the last two months, that has us thinking we might be done with them. We ordered take out for New Year's Eve and Valentines Day and both times they screwed up the order. They don't know how to handle take out orders. They even have a process where an employee has to check the accuracy and sign off on a form attached to the bag. Obviously the employees don't know what it means to sign off that you checked the order. The process is broken! Avoid take out at Greer. They don't know how to do it! Very disappointed in Greer these days. What happened to them? On New Year's Eve, they did send someone out to deliver what they forgot and threw in a desert for us, but it took over 45 minutes so the rest of the dinner was already old and cold. For Valentines Day, we didn't even get an apology for the mess they created. We placed our order with an employee by phone. We ordered from the regular menu. We got a call from them about an hour later to say they had a special menu for Valentines Day and what we ordered was not available. So we had to place new order. When we went to pick it up, they had forgotten some of the items. We had to wait for 15 more minutes as they fixed the errors. There is no excuse for your staff taking orders not knowing the menu for the night. Very disappointing. We will put Greer on the backburner for a while. Maybe we will try them again one day. read more

Okay- definitely a home run on this one. What a gorgeous restaurant. So warm and inviting you feel like you're in someone's home. The menu offers a range of classic southern dishes but with a fresh, modern flair. Locally sourced and fresh, our dishes were great. I had a Niçoise salad with salmon and my husband had their smash burger. We also shared their macaroni and cheese and that was so good! Our cocktails were well made, balanced, and unique. We just had dinner here for the first time. Everything lived up to it's reputation. We had their famous deviled eggs and pork won tons to start, which were fantastic. For the main I had the shrimp and grits while my partner had a pulled pork sandwich. Our friend had the fried chicken thigh sandwich. All entrees were absolutely delicious! For dessert we chose to share the bacon donut (pictured). Perfectly balanced flavors. I'll be getting that again. Our server, Christian, was extremely kind and attentive. He has a manner that made us feel so welcome. He was communicative and apologetic when he thought the drinks were taking too long.
