We just had a fantastic meal at Greer Southern Table. We had heard great things about it and the restaurant did not disappoint! The ambiance, the decor, the service and (of course) the food was fantastic. I started with an espresso martini and my husband had a glass of wine. We shared the boiled peanuts to start which were absolutely delicious and not too big. Perfect shareable appetizer. My husband had the shrimp and grits which he really enjoyed. I had the cauliflower steak which was excellent. We shared the peach empanada for dessert which was so delicious. We highly recommend Greer Southern Table and can't wait to go back. read more

I really want to love this place but there are some areas of improvement: -The food needs some work. They are doing too much with so many options on the menu and should hone in on improving the basics first. For a southern place, I would expect the fried chicken and shrimp & grits to be top notch. Both were bland and largely overpriced for the quality. Every dish we had lacked salt. I can't justify $30+ for an entree that isn't excellent quality, and we've gone here twice and still been unimpressed. -Service: everyone is super nice but they seem in over their heads on a busy weekend night. They need to figure out a better flow because they have more than enough staff to manage the amount of tables. It just feels a bit chaotic. -Noise level: when this place is busy it gets very loud. It can be hard to hear. I would consider installing something to manage the acoustics. Not sure if we will be back anytime soon given the cost. If entrees were $10 less each, we would be happier with what we got. Fingers crossed this is just growing pains and this spot finds it's way!! read more

Food was great. Just don't eat there on a Friday or Saturday night. They have bands playing music there, and it is too loud and echoes throughout their building. You can't enjoy your meal,or meet a date for a "get to know you" situation if they can't hear you. They should think about this during meal times. Came here for dinner last night. Wish I had taken some pics bc the decor was particularly lovely and airy. Staff was nice, and they seemed relatively organized for a new place. I was a fan of Peaches and my friend was a fan of Mamas Boy (former restaurants by same restaurateur) so we knew things were going to be pretty good. Our waiter recommended the crawfish dip which we all loved. I thought the boiled peanuts were off putting but my friends sucked them up (literally lol) and seemed to like them. I think the menu is missing some sort of fried chicken plate entree. They have a whole chicken bucket which my friend and I shared. I feel like not adding the option of just 2-3 pieces of fried chicken with a couple of sides is a missed opportunity. My gluten free friend enjoyed the fact that our waiter had an actual printed spreadsheet to show her that listed the food sensitivities by menu item. I'm guessing eventually it gets memorized by the waitstaff, but she thought the actual list was much better haha. Location and parking is great - there is a very convenient parking garage just steps away from the restaurant entrance. Looking forward to returning and trying more delicious food here. read more

In the past few weeks, I coordinated two different group birthday celebrations in the private Savannah room, both for around 20 women. By the way, there also is a smaller private room accommodating 12 people. Greer Southern Table is a gem, and Fairfield County is so fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber serving delicious and authentic Southern food. The location is convenient, with street parking as well as garage parking. All in attendance felt like we were transported to a beautiful Southern manor home, warm and festively decorated. All the dishes were amazing, and particularly enjoyed the fried chicken (crispy on the outside and moist inside), the roasted chicken, (all the chicken dishes are organic and free range), cornbread, grits, mac and cheese, salads (especially the arugula, beet and goat cheese, as well as the squash and burrata salad), the brisket egg rolls, warm crawfish dip, roasted cauliflower steak, brussel sprouts, cod, shrimp and grits. Save room for the scrumptious desserts, including key lime in a jar, chocolate peanut butter explosion, mud mousse, and double banana pudding. The staff is just amazing, as they are helpful, warm and attentive. I have not yet Greer, the owner and namesake, but her partner and long term friend and director of private dining and catering, Kendall, is absolutely phenomenal, and so helpful and accomodating. Ordered takeout yesterday & it was a disaster on multiple levels. I ordered the 4 pieces of chicken with cole slaw, cornbread & 1 side. I asked what pieces of chicken were included. I was told it was 1/2 a chicken, a breast, wing, leg & thigh. I got home & there was no cole slaw & I received a wing & 3 thighs, ugh !!! So I call & said I didn't receive the cole slaw. Their response was, "Our mistake, do you want to come back & get it or do you want a credit that can be used on your next order?" My response, neither. I should have been offered some type of credit off the incorrect order. They finally agreed to credit me back for the missing cole slaw. Thighs are my least favorite piece of fried chicken. I understand that mistakes happen, but their customer service & response to resolving their mistake was the worse I've experienced in dealing with a restaurant. Ruined my Sunday evening. read more

First time here, 1.) wait staff was pleasant but my BF didn't love the wait time. They sat us quickly and took our drinks, food was a bit later. 2.) menu is nice, good options, dry rub chicken was amazing!!! Corn dip was great could have given us more, burger and fries -- both great. Salmon I would recommend olives on the SIDE. I have been here twice for dinner. The first time was with a girlfriend. Friendly welcome at front door. Sat.in the garden room which has lots of windows and light. Chris was our friendly waiter. Friend ordered a glass of rose. I can not drink alcohol and was relieved to see they have a great mocktail list, so I ordered a very tasty drink. Chris answered a few questions we had about the great Southern menu. Started with fried green tomato appetizer. Friend ordered the fried chicken dinner, and I ordered the shrimp and cheese grits. This was my first visit to Greet Southern Table and it was wonderful. We were greeted by Kendall who promptly hung up my rain coat and we were then shown to our table. I had the Chinese Chicken Salad and it was amazing! The greens were served over a fried chicken breast and at first I was little surprised as I didn't know that the chicken was fried. (I neglected to read the description.). The chicken was moist and so delicious when paired with the dressing. I requested extra dressing and I was glad I did. The greens were wonderful and I was not disappointed. My dinner companions ordered the fried chicken and sides of collard greens and mac and cheese. Delicious! We topped off our meal with a warm cinnamon sugar donut and it was served with apple compote. Again, delicious! At the end of our meal, Kendall stopped by to tell us about the owner, Greer, and how she came up with idea for the outstanding decor. Simply beautiful! The restaurant has two private dining rooms also. Kendall couldn't have been more engaging and I felt more like I was in a friend's dining room than an impersonal restaurant. Went last night as a party of 5 for a birthday celebration. Kelly was our server and was attentive and fast the whole night. Copps Island Oysters, deviled eggs, and fried chicken skins to start and all were terrific, especially the eggs! They have a great idea to keep the eggs steady by putting a small dollop of the egg mix onto the plate for them to stay in place, brilliant. Got some freed and roast chicken for entrees, both moist and tasty. Also swordfish and the Yaka-Mein (think mecha noodle with southern flair). Both also very tasty...we were too full for dessert but overall a terrific experience, highly recommended. read more

We went to this part of Norwalk to see a show at District Music Hall. I read and heard about Greer Southern Table and it sounded so good, that I made a reservation - easy to do online! There is a parking garage adjacent to the restaurant and it costs $1.25 for 6 hours. It is 0.1 miles from the Music Hall. But back to the restaurant - oh my! We were in the Parlor Room, which has bookshelves and warm lighting. We each had a cocktail, and we shared the pulled pork fried wontons. Really good. My husband had the Jambalaya which was so good I didn't even get a taste - shout out to the underappreciated okra! I went the classic route with fried chicken, cole slaw, collards, and cornbread, figuring that was a great test of the place. The portion was enormous, and everything we ate was delicious. We saved room for dessert and I had the incredibly light and tasty banana pudding and he had the peach empanada. We loved the neighborhood and we are already planning our next trip. read more

The quick catering package plus side dish which we ordered in for a 35 person baby shower last Saturday was outstanding. Well-prepared food should taste even better the second day or more, and although many guests took home doggie bags, the remaining pulled pork and Pink Ladies potato salad are still perfect. We really like Greer's alot. There are just a few little things that have bothered us each visit that prevent me from giving 5 stars. We have been for drinks/apps shortly after they opened, brunch and dinner. We love the design of the space although as others have noted it can get quite loud. The food overall is delicious from scratch cooking of high quality with inventive twists. However, each time we have been there has been one thing that has not been as described. When we first went for drinks I requested a special one on the menu and the waiter admitted after some time the bartenders were unsure of how to make it. The waiter brought me something else not quite as described missing one of the key things that appealed to me. It was ok but disappointing. For brunch, overall all good but my daughter ordered something that was supposed to have a certain flavor (I believe it was pumpkin) but couldn't taste it at all (I tried it too). Finally, at a recent dinner there was a giant bone in my chicken pot pie, which happens. I put it on the side of my plate and the waitress seemed to notice but didn't say anything. It was good although the crust wasn't what I expected. For dessert, the way the sundae was described sounded really good to me because it said it had candied pecans and some other thing on it, but when it arrived it was basically a scoop of ice cream, a small amount of whipped cream, and one cherry. No pecans or the other thing described. It was disappointing for 10 dollars. I pointed out that it was missing the pecans etc. to the waitress and she said she would "tell someone" but nothing was done to acknowledge it (or even partially comp it etc). The waitress was overall efficient. The restaurant is well run with how food is brought out etc. Front of house was very welcoming. If the little things were addressed it would be a 5 stars for me. read more

This place is mid. I came in for some breakfast food/ soul food after a night of drinking and I was excited because of the reviews. My mood dropped when I took the first bites of their Mac n cheese , two .. threes four bites , I was looking for flavor but none to be found. The eggs Benedict tasted as if the sauce was purely egg yolk and salt only. I'm giving this place a three star because their staff is friendly and the ambiance is cute, but the food on Sundays at 2pm is whack. read more

After being a Peach's client this was even better. Easy location to get to. Seated immediately and had the option for outside with a reservation for inside. Service was great. Sophia was a great server. The service manger was always around assisting Sophia. We were not rushed but service was punctual. We order two of the speciality drinks both were good. The decor and ambiance is absolutely fresh, hip, and stunning! The menu has amazing unique selections! Everything we had was delicious! From the fried chicken skins, wontons , Mac and cheese with crawfish, the trout was to die for! Our entire group of 12 were all raving about their food! The dessert menu also did not disappoint!
