I got told I needed a referral when my insurance has never required a prior authorization. I called my insurance and confirmed and they agreed with me that I don't need a referral/prior authorization. I called them back and they scheduled my appointment 2 weeks out. The day of the appointment I got called 20 mins before during their lunch time and they left a VM canceling my appointment because of not having a referral. I immediately called back within 2 mins of them leaving me the voicemail and no response because they were on lunch. I left a VM requesting to speak to their manager and never received a call back. Very unprofessional the way the handled the situation. Never again!

However - We've been seeing Dr Lum for over 7 years, since we first arrived in San Diego. He's always attentive, considerate, kind and gives us plenty of options and choices of care. Dr. Lee and Dr. Wu both were very patient and kind in working with me to get my prescription just right. The rest of their staff were always very respectful as well. He took the time to make sure I got the right contacts and glasses and made the entire experience easy and enjoyable. Dr. Susan Houchin was also fantastic. She was extremely thorough, informative, and patient with all of my questions. I'm 41 now, and I've noticed my prescription and eyes changing quite a bit as I get older, so it was really reassuring to have a doctor who took the time to explain everything and make sure I understood what was going on. The prices are also excellent, much better than what I've found at Target Optical, Walmart, and other optometrists. They even offer free eye exams with the purchase of select contacts, which is a fantastic value. Between the pricing, selection, customer service, and genuinely caring staff, I couldn't be happier with my experience. Brandon and Dr. Houchin were both outstanding.
