I had an excellent experience at Stanton Optical and highly recommend this location! I previously went to Stanton Optical in Texas, but this location is honestly on another level. Brandon, the manager, was absolutely amazing, professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. He took the time to make sure I got the right contacts and glasses and made the entire experience easy and enjoyable. Dr. Susan Houchin was also fantastic. She was extremely thorough, informative, and patient with all of my questions. I'm 41 now, and I've noticed my prescription and eyes changing quite a bit as I get older, so it was really reassuring to have a doctor who took the time to explain everything and make sure I understood what was going on. The prices are also excellent, much better than what I've found at Target Optical, Walmart, and other optometrists. They even offer free eye exams with the purchase of select contacts, which is a fantastic value. Between the pricing, selection, customer service, and genuinely caring staff, I couldn't be happier with my experience. Brandon and Dr. Houchin were both outstanding. I too had a horrible experience at this same store from the eye doctor who examined my eyes a year & 1/2 ago & I have not been back. The doctor made it quite obvious she did not want to be there doing the exam with her snarky comments. I have a cornea disease I have to wear hard lenses to flatten the cornea to see. I went there to get distance glasses. The doctor's demeanor was just horrible. Like I said I have not been back & wont EVER go back. She took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly and ensured I felt confident in my selections. I was especially impressed with her efficiency ,she was able to have both of my glasses completed within 45 minutes, which exceeded my expectations! During my visit, I also observed her handling a very difficult customer with remarkable composure. Despite the individual being discourteous, Vanessa remained calm, respectful, and professional at all times. I have been a customer for several years with no problems. I went for my annual visit today and something was way off. 1st- I had my insurance card ready when I arrived for my appointment on time. That didn't seem to matter because I still had to download the insurance app and email the information to them. Never had to do that before. My insurance hasn't changed from my previous visits 2- The lady helping me seemed confused about everything! I normally get my eyes tested with the various eye machines for general eye health and then get my acuity checked by an eye doctor (sometimes remotely) to see if my script has changed. I was told that there was no eye doctor available to test my eyes that day....so why was I given that appointment time for an annual eye exam??? 3. The lady said I could use last years script and to pick out a set of frames. I picked the frames I like went to let the lady know I picked out a pair and was told to have a seat. In the mean time another family who came in about 30 min after me was taken back for an eye exam. One bad experience after another! I came to Stanton Eye Doctor because of their advertisement that clearly states **$79 for two pairs of glasses and a free eye exam, same day**. I do not have insurance, and this offer is the ONLY reason I chose this location. From the beginning, things did not add up. I told the doctor upfront that I was on a tight budget, did not care about fashion, and only needed the **cheapest glasses to be able to drive**. I even mentioned that I already had a prescription and just needed to grab it from my car. After returning with my prescription, a staff member was kindly helping me, but the doctor interrupted and suddenly told me I **had to pay $359**, then claimed he was giving me a "discount" by lowering it to **$320 out the door**. This was shocking and completely different from what they advertise. I explained again that I could only afford **$120**, and the doctor bluntly said **"absolutely not."** No explanation, no attempt to honor the advertised pricing, nothing. I wasted **over an hour** of my time waiting and discussing options, only to be told that the advertised deal did not apply to me. This felt like false advertising and a complete bait-and-switch. Also was not informed that the appointment was with a virtual optometrist. Needed to wait for virtual call from provider to begin exam, which didn't begin until 2pm. My worst experience ever for a professional health exam. I say health exam because when it comes to my health my vision is just as important to me as anything else, so I expect the service to be top notch. Unfortunately this place is a waste of time and money due to their lack of organization, communication, and overall not a good bargain. I can tell you that I'm probably the most patient person and understand that sometimes things don't go as planned but this experience was just one thing after another. First of all I ended up paying over 700.00 for two pairs of glasses. Second they were incorrectly made, I would get instant dizziness when I put them on. Third the doctor that gives you the so called free exam is a virtual doctor so in order to be re examined by a live doctor I waited almost 3 weeks! Then when I finally get my appointment she's 1 hour late to see me, and to top it off she was absolutely clueless of my situation and had no file, no glasses, no information on why I was even there, and to add insult she asked me for my receipt of original purchase! I was livid!! I waited over 1 month and had to cancel everything and now I'm back to square one. This place is honestly eerie similar to a huge scam store, where they lure you in on false pretenses. The only person that I can say was helpful was Vanessa but watch out for Jose he's out to convince you that your in the wrong and made it really uncomfortable and difficult for me to cancel my order. No customer service at all from him at all. Unfortunately they are located in a awsome corner of a very buzy intersection and their potential is unlimited but never will I ever recommend them. With covid and the new restrictions this place is all about social distance! They have to what seems to be stickers on the floor instructing and to maintain 6ft apart. The guys who work here are honestly so nice and approachable, I had my eye tests done with these up to date machines, then I was seated in the consult room- where a doctor did the eye exam via zoom (I think) she had control of the lenses and she was very calm and nice. Explained everything throughly. I can't believe I haven't been here sooner! I also made my appointment on their website and they're on top of it with the reminders on email and day of I had a text reminder. I loved my experience here. The guy who helped me recommended the $59 exam and you can choose up to selected glasses- which honestly isn't bad at all!!!! My prescription was ready within fifteen minutes after my exam was completed. Looking forward to picking up my glasses. (Two weeks turn around time? Awesome) read more

The one thing that you should have checked you could find that things that are getting blurry and getting hard to see for many people that have never been to the eye doctor but you never know until you say to your self is do it . Your health and the health of your sight is very Important to many they just get stronger reading glasses yet its to see an eye doctor and get your vision checked . Stanton Optical was one that I had seen many times when I had rode the bus back and fourth my reading was getting blurred and many times that I had to go up close to street signs to see the location . When I had went to Stanton optical that I had explained to them that my eyes were checked when I was in a rest home that my vision was having problems I had asked about the glasses deal the two pair for 59.00 . The store management that I could tell were helping others in the store and setting things for other eye exams for different rooms . I was very surprised on the many glasses they had the many frames they carry it was large than any Walmart store has in there tiny closet . That with many eye doctors the staff at Stanton optical was one of the best people that I have ever met of great opticians and the machines they used are the best in the field. When the doctor had did the full exam he had found that one of my eyes had stegmatism in there he told there was need of special glasses that would b e able to help me that has worked out great and has helped me in so many things . I had put off getting my eyes checked but when I had met with the staff and the doctors of Stanton Optical they have helped with great vision . Even when they do your eye exam you get seen by an online doctor that does your eye exam and tests your distance and gets a full exam of your eyes sight and the numbers of your left and right side . For many is get your eyes checked because you may never know that you may have one eye weaker than the other or you may have an eye doctor that had missed on past exam . The great customer service and the great feeling is they treat you just like family the many frames to choose from makes Stanton Optical one of the best here in San Diego and the many areas of California . Something about Stanton Optical offices. Not sure what it exactly is but recently in the last year, not been up to par. Covid? No, it shouldn't be that. I know the last time I was there in March, took foreverrrrrr just to get someone to fix my prescriptions correctly. Team members not inputting things correctly in the system and lack of communications. Again, that was in March 2021 where I had to tell the doctor, I need a replacement ($200 worth) of contacts that were WAY off. Took like two weeks to fix it because I had to go to the branch in person to see what's going on which was an inconvenience. Turns out they were short-staffed and the guy was the one I had been talking to before but never completed my request for some reason. Anyhoo, finally fixed in getting my replacements. Don't worry, I wasn't the only one waiting in long lines there. It's now August 2021, I am in the process to re-order new contacts online BUT they haven't updated my current correct prescription. What the heck? I could of order the wrong boxes again. Oh my! I called customer service (3rd party people since you have to go through them first and she said they show it's current with what my last box of contacts said BUT the one online shows old ones. Go figure. ) I guess after this month, I need to find another better vision center besides Stanton. read more

I need a new pair of glasses. I didn't want to spend a lot of money. That's generally my number one consideration. Someone recommended Stanton so I thought I would give them a try. I set an appointment online. My appointment was for 145 I got there about 10 minutes early so I could fill out any paperwork I might need. It took me a couple minutes just to figure out where I was supposed to go once I got in there because no one was offering any assistance. I finally get some help and then have to wait another five minutes for the tech? To find a tablet for me to answer the questionnaire they always give you. After all that it's now 2pm and she takes me to the machines that check for glaucoma. We get done with that and she tells me to wait there's one person ahead of me for my exam. As I go to sit down, she has another lady that came in after me go and take the glaucoma test, when she gets done she immediately ushers her in to the eye examination room, skipping me. After she got the lady settled in, the tech walked out without saying anything to me. These tests look like they take 20-25 minutes so now I'm looking at an hour before I can see the tester. That was enough for me. Walmart has better customer service than this. I got up and bailed. I'm probably being a baby but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe they are the Western Dental of eye services. I'll go to Costco tomorrow, it will be a little more expensive but worth the money not to deal with bad customer service. read more

Went to Stanton Optical sometime last October in dire need of new glasses, and this visit was SUPER smooth and easy! I was uninsured at the time and Gregory was able to help me out with different discounts that applied to me, which made it really easy for a broke college student like myself to afford 2 pairs of eyeglasses. I strolled into this location after making a few calls to other optometry offices in the area on a Sunday afternoon. Two were closed and two were open. One said they don't accept my VSP insurance but Stanton did. What really won my business was the optician's charismatic personality. ***SHARON*** has incredible people skills on top of being knowledgeable in her trade. She works to understand the patient's needs and wants with regards to glasses or contacts (I ordered 2 glasses). She's awesome! Ask for her when you need lenses. The exam was different but efficient. I have 20/20 vision so I wasn't here for myself. My son however needs glasses. I booked an appt online for today at 4pm. I showed up on time and was immediately helped. My son did the initial exam of testing for glaucoma, photos of eyes, etc...technician was nice, quick and helpful. Then we waited a few minutes and entered another room. There was no optometrist physically in the room. Instead he was in the tv doing a zoom giving my son a professional eye exam. It was so bizarre because the optometrist should of physical been there in my opinion. To top it off he had a thick accent so while giving my 11 year old specific instructions, I can see how it was difficult to understand him how this can easily cause an incorrect diagnosis of eye glass prescription. Once the exam was completed, we walked to pick my son a frame. They did not have much options for kids frames in black and I asked if they can order specific style frame in black and I was told absolutely not. So we spent some time trying to find a frame but they all sucked and each time I asked a question, the girl helping us was too busy on her phone. She seemed uninterested to help us find a frame or recommend a frame or have any knowledge of other stores for kids frames. The experience was disappointing. Shannon literary told me i know you gave us your Frame but we dont have your frame anymore so go away. And my refund will be in the form of a CHECK i payed cash. I hardly ever give such horrible reviews but this one just had to be done. Ok so yesterday I had ripped my contact while rubbing my eye. I go to replace it l, not realizing I was on my last pair! My glasses just had broke the other day too so I was screwed. I am due to get lasik in a week so I wasn't looking to buy a whole 6 month supply so I called Stanton optical, the only open optometrist in my area on a Sunday afternoon. At first I talked to I guy who I didn't catch the name of. Man it felt as if I was talking to a preprogrammed robot instead of an actual person. He had all these scripted answers for me not helping me at all. No I don't want to come in for an exam. No I don't want to order a box or come in for glasses. I said I need something TODAY so I can see! I was looking to buy a trial pair. I literally have to ask for a ride down there because I'm BLIND. Finally he's says to come down to but I want to make sure they have my prescription on deck so he transfers me. Then I get this lady, who apparently says she the manager.
