Tonight's dining experience was a culinary roller coaster. I was lucky to win a $100 certificate from Chatham's Downtown Alliance and Town & Country Properties. When calling and making my reservation, I spoke directly to the owner and told him how I won and that I could choose any business to use the $ and I chose his restaurant and was looking forward to dining there with my son and husband. When we were sat, I again introduced myself to the owner and expressed how happy we were to be there. Company, conversation, wine were exhilarating. Food...delicious. Then came the check... We handed the $160 bill back with the $100 check made out to Gregorio's, plus our credit card. Our server looked confused, a co-worker even more perplexed. They then called the owner's wife on the phone, and then were talking to the owner in the back. No one knew what to do. I went up to the front desk (owner still in the back) and explained that this was a check made out to them ($100) and provided them Downtown Alliance President's telephone number. The server proceeded to tell me the owner knew nothing of a donation and I should pay the bill in full and cash the check myself (BTW the check is payable to Gregorio's). Again I explain that it is not a donation given from the restaurant but a check given TO them from another business in Chatham. 30 minutes later, I was asked for my driver's license to have a copy made and the owner's wife would then be calling me in the morning. The entire experience was highly insulting. I will never patronize Gregorio's again. With many, many years in the restaurant business and more in catering, the first and biggest rule of thumb...the business problem NEVER becomes the customer's. The lack of professionalism, from not being acknowledged from 4 staff members when we first walked in the door, to the owner yelling across the restaurant to someone else,"there is no such thing as Al Dente' pasta", until the end with the way our bill was handled, leaves me with nothing but doubt and disappointment no matter how good the kitchen presents itself. Gregorio's needs to present itself as a whole. Nothing more, nothing less. read more

This Italian restaurant is highly rated in Chatham so we thought we would try it. Overall everything was okay, and we enjoyed our meal. Nothing set them apart from other area Italian restaurants, meal or dessert list. They are okay for the area. read more

Recently had dinner here. Restaurant was selected by a friend because I have food allergies and this place boasts a gluten free menu. They were not very accomodating. Besides gluten, I also have a dairy and egg allergy. The chef would only offer me plain pasta as they said all other sauces were premade and would not do anything else for me. I understand that not all places are accomodating to patrons with allergies. But don't label yourself as allergy friendly if your not willing to accommodate. To add insult to injury, I ordered a sorbet for dessert as that fit my food restrictions. The dessert was brought out with a cookie in the middle of it. When I sent it back staying that I could not eat something that had a cookie on it...I was told that they wouldn't remake the dessert and to just eat around the cookie and they would take it off the bill. read more

Great restaurant with really solid food. This place always seems to be busy yet I have never had to wait a long time or seen a drop in food quality. Menu is quite extensive and the nightly specials are usually very attractive. Location is top notch as parking in downtown Chatham is not to hard. BYOB helps keep the cost down and the wait staff is more than happy to chill your wine and keep your glass topped off. Keep up the good work! read more

Really good Italian food. I hear a lot of people complaining about the Italian/Mediterranean distinction... I say f*** it; it's good food. BYOB is nice, and the scallops (if they offer any when you go) are rockin. I'm a big fan of the pans seared tuna as well. Pasta is always fresh, always cooked perfectly if you ask me, and the wait staff is very nice. All around good. read more

Just got off the plane and was craving food with Italian flavor but with a bit sophistication in the area. Went into this place for a to go order. The service was very welcoming and attentive. I had the butternut squash ravioli - perfect for fall. It was al dente, generous and tasty. The spinach salad was yummy. Dressing was perfect) The cheese and rice balls (arancini) were a bit rich for my west coast preference. They are popular menu item at quite a few local places in this area. Maybe a mushroom filling other than cheese? The place was busy for this quiet little town. I would go back again. read more

This place was excellent. My friends and I did a 'girl's night' here and we all raved about the restaurant! The food was amazing - we ordered three different appetizers and the only one I could was just average was the calamari - nothing was wrong with it, but in comparison to our other apps it was good but not amazing. Our entrees were delicious ..I highly recommend the pistachio crusted salmon over butternut squash risotto. We each got dessert so that we can try a bite from one another ..the flourless chocolate cake with expresso chip ice cream was out of this world! All the other desserts were delicious too. The waitress was so kind and honest and they didn't rush us out at all. We closed out the restaurant and they didn't even come up to us with the check ..we had to get them. This past Sunday Chef Gregorio opened his restaurant at 1:30 specially for my family to host my Dad's memorial lunch following the funeral service . Very few nice restaurants are open on Sunday afternoon, but when I called the restaurant he didn't hestitate. Gregorio served up a delicious 4 course meal of his best dishes that were all beautifully presented and so very tasty. Everyone was raving about the food and pledged to come back on their own. Thank you Gregorio and Allessandra for helping out my family on such short notice. PS: loved the freshly made pasta, the chicken Gregorio, balsamic glazed pork tenderloin and especially the flourless chocolate cake. read more

This has been my go to place for years but it's starting to slip. The servers are not professional and service is spotty at best. The portions size has decreased over the years while the prices are not inexpensive for a storefront. The food has become spotty which is a shame read more

I can only speak for myself. Had the pasta with the cherry peppers. Excellent. Wife had the primavara, salty.My friends girlfriend had the salmon and it was raw. She told the waiter she liked it well done and he insisted the chef cook it medium. WTF?. She refused to send it back. Other friend had lobster raviolis which he liked. I went here invited for a celebration luncheon. Everything started out great until the main course. My husband and I both ordered the pork. It was raw!! We were actually afraid to eat it. I heard several people at the party felt the same way. The owner ( which I think is the chef) was not accommodating AT ALL! He should have immediately gave us new meals instead of arguing that it was perfectly cooked! Like a said several people were unhappy and he should've went above and beyond instead of being rude about it. I felt so bad for the family hosting the party I'm sure they spend a lot of money that day and really he should NOT have charged at all for the meals that were not edible. This restaurant used to be one of our favorites in town. Not anymore after our recent visit. The food is still tasty, but pricing has gone up markedly and food quantity has dropped significantly. The menu is lacking variety and sophistication that warrant the price level charged. The previous recipe ingredients of friendly intimate service, tasty fare, and good value for this restaurant is no longer there to make us want to go back. We wish we could...Oink, oink! read more

Disappointed. Years ago it was much better, something has changed. Special salad was extremely small and there was nothing too it, frankly it is a crime they charged for it and listed it as a special. Chicken Gregorio, you would think would be great, although tasty, , very thin pieces of chicken, like it was pounded., Waitress was rude, rushing us the entire time. This is my favorite authentic Italian restaurant in the area. I've tried many dishes from here including the butternut squash raviolis, rigatoni with sausage, wild mushroom raviolis, and mushroom fettuccini. Their appetizers and salads are delicious as well including the rice balls (arincini) and fried mozzarella. The bread with the sundries tomato spread you can't beat either. Can't go wrong with the tiramisu parfait and the coconut penacotta either! The service is very good and the owners are very nice people. Highly recommend! read more

Gregorio's is an Italian/Mediterranean restaurant that seems to specialize in unexpected flavor combinations that are nonetheless delicious. For example, the dipping sauce for their bread had balsamic vinegar, something reddish (probably tomato), and other things I couldn't identify. Odd, but tasty. I had the calamari appetizer and then the ravioli special of the day, which happened to be lamb with tomato and scallions in a heavy cream sauce. The calamari was served over some dressed field greens, with slivers of hot red and green peppers, and a spicy orange-colored sauce that might have contained horseraddish, among other things. Even more impressive, the squid itself was properly salted! (I often find that calamari is cooked to an excessively rubbery texture, or not salted enough, or served with too weak and watery a sauce. This was lovely.) The ravioli was equally wonderful. My father had salad and roast lamb shank (cooked to perfection!), and My mother had warm asparagus with a slab of half-melted mozzarella cheese, and then balsamic pork tenderloin, which was also delicious -- we all traded a bite or two of our entrees. The service was excellent with one minor exception -- when my mother ordered coffee after the meal, the waitress brought lowfat milk instead of cream. However, when she asked for cream, the manager promptly apologized and brought a new cup of coffee along with some half and half. I would love to eat at Gregorio's again. read more

I am so happy I found this spot! I have been here twice so far and I will definitely be going again AND soon! I had gotten the butternut squash ravioli the last time I had been there. It was delicious! The pasta is hand made to perfection and the sauce is flavorful! I loved it. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend, I just wished I had found it sooner. We had my son's college graduation party here - FANTASTIC! The food was delicious, the servers exceptionally pleasant, the interior very pretty, and the owner/chef Greg was very helpful with planning the menu. Our dinner began with Classic Caesar Salad with creamy lemon-garlic dressing, followed by the most delicious Rigatoni Bolognese (a few guest had seconds). Next was a choice from one of three: Chicken Gregorio, egg battered chicken scaloppini with exotic mushrooms, garlic and a lemon sauce; Pistachio Crusted Salmon, with butternut squash risotto, spinach and a red wine sauce; or Balsamic Glazed Pork Tenderloin with spinach, garlic mashed potatoes and balsamic vinegar glaze. - Everything was delicious! There was even a special children's menu for three children whose ages range from two to six years old. Since GREGORIOS is BYOB - We went to Gary's (see Sara she will match wines to your meal). We dropped off everything two days before the party. Chef Greg had everything chilled properly and the wine arranged beautifully on a front table. We picked-up an all chocolate graduation cake from Natale's, which Chef Greg served with a scoop of yummy vanilla ice cream. A lovely ending to a truly pleasant experience. P.S. Worst customer service EVER! The waitress was rude, the assistant manager was aloof and clueless, and the chef came out in a complete huff and ranted about how we didn't know about sauces. The linguine with shrimp was adequate, the salad was boring, the butternut squash ravioli was merely ok, and the one good meal was the cod. Go to D'oro's instead. read more

This place was truly wonderful. We came here for dinner after going to short hills mall (since short hills doesn't really have any delicious places to eat) and it was really lovely. It's BYOB, which was great, we got a bottle of wine at the liquor store around the corner. The rigatoni with sausage was fantastic, as was the lasagna. For apps-the crispy mozzarella was very rich and delicious, and the beef carpaccio was really good too. Our server was very very nice and gave us great recommendations, and overall this was a lovely experience. The bill was really low too! (And we had a lot of items). The Fried Rice Ball appetizer was cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside and moist in the middle. However, the sauce was too subtle to stand up to a fried dish (3.5 stars; would get a higher rating with a richer sauce). The Eggplant Involtini was excellent - It had a nice texture (which is difficult with eggplant) and a good combination of cheeses and sauces (4 stars). The bread with sundried tomato dip was wonderful (4.5 stars). For pasta, the Gemelli Monte had the perfect balance of tomatoes, sausage, and hot spice (4 stars). The Braised Lamb Shank was very flavorful, although I did not care for the accompanying Tomato Risotto and Spinach, but this is more my personal taste rather than a reflection of the quality of these side items (4 stars). read more

Gregorio's was one of our favorite restaurants. Last time we were there, however, we were rushed to order our food and asked a few times if we were done with our entree, even though food was still present on our plates. Also, after we declined dessert, we were presented with the bill and the staff started cleaning off our table before we could arrange to pay it. We were out of the restaurant in less than an hour with customers waiting in the small entry way, watching us in anticipation of getting our table. Great family run Italian restaurant BYOB. Great chef who has now added Gluten free pasta option. Some of the larger groups can get a little loud and staff seems a little oblivious to wanting a quiet dinner with wife so make sure to get press for a quiet table. read more

Really great service and even better Italian food! We went here for the first time last night and had an amazing dinner. My husband had the lasagna, which he said was the best he ever had, and I had the rigatoni with sausage and a delicious sun dried tomato cream sauce. So good! Despite being stuffed, we ended the meal with cappuccino and cannolis. I can't wait to take my parents here when they come visit during the holidays. The owner and staff are so friendly, down to earth and accommodating! They treat you as if you've been friends for years. The place is cozy and has a great vibe to it. It had a good crowd, but we had plenty of room and didn't feel closed in at all. Its BYOB, and the staff offers other soft drinks and waters if you need it. The food is traditional italian, with plenty of salads on the menu that are all tasty. I had the Seafood Ravioli that was delicious and my friends had the veal and pork dishes, and both were extremely tender.... We split a banana bread pudding desert that was out of this world.
