My family and I spent our Thanksgiving holiday in Dover this year and had to find a place to spend our Thanksgiving meal together as a family of 7. It was myself, husband, our three sons and my parents. We were fortunate to have a reservation for 4pm dinner. We arrived right on time and was seated immediately. Great, right? We were led to our own private dining area on the second floor. It took about 15-20 min for anyone to come up and ask for our drink order and then another 15 min to get our drinks. So literally we've waited about 30-35 min to even have our food order taken. Oh and when the drinks did arrive (which was all water but one orange soda) the water was a cross between sprite and water. They had to replace all the waters. So add more time to that. Let me add that there was a set Thanksgiving menu so it should not have taken long to decide what we want and for them to ask us for our order. We waited and waited to finally give our dinner orders. Anyhow, my husband was the only one to order any kind of soup/appetizer. His soup came out within 5-10 min of ordering. But when did we finally get our meals? I took pictures so I have it time stamped: my son began digging into his meal at 5:11pm! BUT that's not it, everyone's meal came out but my husband's. He had to wait approximately another 5 minutes for his meal. Guess it was a good thing he ordered soup that he ate 25 min prior to his meal arriving. So to sum it up, service WAS NOT AT ITS BEST! I know it's Thanksgiving but if you know ahead of time the crowd that you are feeding, since reservations were made ahead of time, you would think your staff would have been prepared. At the same time. I really couldn't tell how busy they were since we were on the second floor and we WERE THE ONLY FAMILY seated on the second floor. My two young kids kept making remarks asking "did they forget about us? Where is our food? We are hungry!" They are 9 and 10 years old. This was one time where I was happy that they had their iPhones to keep them entertained. Don't get me wrong, we didn't complain for the mere fact that we wanted to make sure we received our food without it being jeopardized but I was very disappointed at how the evening turned out and that this unfortunately was one of the worst Thanksgiving holidays spent away from home. You're wondering now how was the food at least? Well I ordered the prime rib with three sides: sautéed mushrooms/onions, green beans, crab stuffing. It was good but it would have been nice to have more mushrooms instead of 3 and less onions. The portion size was a great amount and should be for the amount we paid. However, my parents were not too impressed with the slow roasted turkey that they ordered. I didn't try it so I can't really speak for them. From what I saw though it did look like a good hefty amount of food, so I can't complain with that. (See pictures posted). They definitely could have given more gravy from what I could see. This review is long enough, in a nutshell: service could have been 100% better and the food was ok. Would I come back? Most likely not because of the service. However, the feel and look of the restaurant is worth visiting but my one and only experience is not one that will have me come back. Good luck to you all! read more

Came back for lunch and had the crab Benedict and it was so yummy. Hubby ordered French dip cheesesteak. It was good but mine was definitely better. I had ordered a Bloody Mary that I tried to stomach but it was ruining my meal so I ordered a beer instead. He asked if I liked the bloody and gave him an honest answer. He looked a bit bothered that I didn't like it. I quickly said you don't need to take off bill, but I certainly think he should have. He didn't. I barely touched it. It was a homemade mix they needs to be work on. It needs oldbay and less chunky junk. I'll be back but will be seated in dining area instead of bar. read more

This place was okay if it wasn't for the table of loud frat boy types that steadily got drunker and drunker. I couldn't even hear my kid asking questions, sitting right next to me. The place is a cute house converted into a restaurant. I was stuck with the New Yorker as they were out of sirloin and it was a very fatty piece of meat. No one else was overly impressed with the food and the server wasn't very attentive as she had a lot of tables. I may give it a second chance but probably on a weekday. read more

Been back twice (why, if I hated it the first time? This is Dover. Eat here, you'll understand.) The first was a luncheon for a half dozen ladies. Service--bent over backwards. Food--good. Generous soup salad sandwich lunch and a crazy-good dessert. Don't take one bite of that bananas foster on puff pastry or you will find yourself eating enough calories for a troop of Eagle Scouts. Don't say I didn't warn you. Way too good. I think I had a BLT--anyway all was great. Second meal. I had a strip steak. Cold and gristly. Sent back to be cooked med rare, not raw, came back lukewarm and gristly. Asparagus, which grow here, were tiny pencil-lead spears cooked to death. Soaked in some kind of "butter." Blech. The dogs didn't touch the leftover steak. These dogs steal paper bags and eat them. They steal cabbage and eat a whole head. Either they are vegans or they hated the steak too. I vote for "hated." Who has a vegan dog? One out of two. Yeah, I'll be back. What choice do I have? Can't serve business guest peanut butter and jelly sammidge from my desk. read more

We sat outside it was beautiful, there were a group of locals outside with us who were obnoxious, ignorant, and very loud. We tried our best to ignore. Otherwise, we got the appetizer platter which was awesome. Get the pickle fries, they're awesome. We had basil cucumber martinis which were tasty. This was because we had a late lunch on a Saturday and couldn't have been more pleased with the quality and taste of the food. We ordered a Burger, and a chopped steak sandwich. The tater tots were really fun, they're shaped like Tetris pieces. However the service was off. The place was dead, again it was an off eating time. So here's what happened, We were acknowledged when we entered the beautiful old house. Then waited 5 minutes to be sat. We ordered food off the lunch menu, which is what we wanted and it was great. Pretty alright. Drinks were phenomenal, pretzel appetizer solid, but my chicken salad sandwich tasted odd (disclaimer: my fat ass at the entire thing) and the side tater tots seems to be from the freezer aisle. My friend initially ordered a hamburger, but the waitress returned to say they were "out." She recommended the open roast beef sandwich, which turned out to be pretty good. Nice place in an old house with great vibe and feel. Relatively small menu but the food was great. I got the shrimp as well as the edamame off the app menu. Both were fantastic. The drinks were good. I have never experienced a more awful restaurant experience. The owner is extremely rude and does not know how to manage a restaurant. Our waitress was sweet and doing her best. When a restaurant is poorly run, which starts with management, it is unfortunate that the wait staff is hurt by this. I can only imagine how disgusting this kitchen is if the owner/management presented this way. Do not go to this restaurant!!!! Amazing food. But the last time we were there was terrible ! It took us an hour for us to eat after we were seated and another 25 mins to get our actual entree after JOLENE let them know we were waiting. All and all we got there at 12, and didn't leave until 2:30! Honestly I would go there again but only is Jolene was our waitress. So disappointing! I ordered a flatbread with chicken and they had to substitute quesadilla bread. No problem except the chicken was so dry and there was nothing except 2 tablespoons of shredded lettuce To make it palatable. When I asked for additional lettuce, I receive an amount inadequate for a decent salad plus they charged me $1.00. Minuscule amount, I know, but I was not told to expect a charge. Visited Dover for a work event, and I was unamused by the reviews on most of the restaurants in Dover... and then I found this place!! We came here two nights in a row because the food was SO GOOD!! We had the best experience with Rachel on the first night! She made the BEST cocktails ever! I had the shepherds pie BOTH TIMES, it was off the chain. 10/10 recommend! Nice place. We had a dinner meeting and was very surprised at the level of service and the quality of the food. I had the Montgomery crab cakes. I love this place. It is one of my favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is very chill and the service is personal. There are rooms upstairs that can be used as additional banquet space for small gatherings. I held my sister's bridal shower here two years ago and family and friends are still talking about how good the food was. read more

Found thus online and made a reservation for our bike weekend. Omg is all I can say. Had the flatbread snd the barramundi and my hubby had the shrimp and sausage scampi. Everything was fresh and absolutely out of thus world tasty!!! The dinner was delish as was the dessert. A sweet potato maple layered cheesecake to die for. I am surprised at all of the glowing reviews. My experience here was subpar from beginning to end. We made the mistake of going on trivia night, so if you aren't participating in this prepare to be ignored. We waited 10 minutes for a table and 15 to be greeted by our waitress. Upon reviewing the menu, I was shocked to discover that while the whole back page is burgers - they don't serve French fries. What in the world? The food was subpar anyways. The house blend dry rub just made the chicken wings taste dry - there was no flavor. Burgers were dry, and multiple order intricacies were missed due to our waitress not writing our order down. Will not ever return. The extra star is due to the Tetris tater tots - however I can't imagine they're made in house so take that with a grain of salt. read more

My Daughter and Son in Law took me to this lovely house on State St. for dinner. The house is lovely inside and out. The server was very attentive, and cute. We sat in the room next to the kitchen, and with two cooks at the table, it was enjoyable to watch the kitchen staff. Now on to the food. The two appitisers I could have made a meal out of. Skewered chicken (4) and Tots a Large bowl of tots. Daughter had the Tokyo Salmon, Son in law had the burhimmundi fish. I had the Crab cakes, to die for. I would give it 4 and a half stars. A waiter came and set down a soup that I hadn't ordered and walked away before I could say anything, and when he realized he came back and took it from my table to the table it belonged. I hadn't touched it but there was no way he could know whether I had or hadn't and he still served it to someone else. Another server came by and took our appetizer before we were finished, she was just zipping around all the tables taking things in passing so it was difficult to get her attention either. Our waitress forgot our drinks. The waitress for the table next to us kept coming by an apologizing to them for something they were waiting on, and they had been there since before we were seated. Stopped in and waited at front door. I suspect I was earlier than most. Waited a while then decided to venture in to the bar (straight-ahead from front door). I asked if I could be seated and they quickly helped me. My salad was fresh, no complaints. The fish was fine, nothing to rave about, but nothing to complain either. The seafood stuffing was actually a bit better than the fish itself. The vegetable of the day was grilled brussel sprouts. I thought that a bit odd because I know there are those that love them, but I thought they were not as roundly liked as other vegetables. And there was no other vegetable choice. I just returned from a ladies' luncheon that had been booked for several weeks prior to today. Management scheduled 1 waitress to serve 26 of us in an upstairs private dining room. The kitchen is on the 1st floor. She could only handle 4 lunches on the tray each trip up and down the steps, while we waited and waited for all of us to be served. Kudos to her as she hurried back and forth and maintained her pleasant manner. I would never return to a place that put such a burden on their staff to save a little money. I felt uncomfortable throughout the luncheon, witnessing such abuse and could not enjoy my food. I am surprised that anyone would work under management like this. My family and I are new to this area and after reading the reviews we looked forward to experiencing the Grey Fox. But our first visit will likely be out last. I can overlook the amount of time it took for us to be seated, the layers of dust and dirt on window sills and blinds, the dirty and sticky salt and pepper shakers but the quality of the food was impossible to overlook. My daughter ordered a crab cake sandwich which was totally inedible. It had been cooked in oil that was way too old and had a rancid taste. It also smelled fishy which should never be in fresh seafood. I ordered an open face cheese steak sandwich with an jus, which tasted fine till I found the 10 inch hair in it. Needless to say we left without eating our lunches and of course we were not required to pay but all in all we were very disappointed in a restaurant that has a good reputation read more
