Took a bus from New York to Atlanta which was supposed to have 0 transfers, departing New York at 8 pm. A stop was scheduled in Richmond for 3 am but I didn't think we'll have to wake up and get off the bus. But when we arrived in Richmond, the staff woke everyone up and wait in the terminal for 1 hour to wait for the new bus. If you are going to disturb sleep on a overnight but and get everyone off to transfer to a new bus, don't advertise it as 0 transfers! Never using greyhound ever again. I have used Chinatown busses and Megabus before and both are better than this. read more

Just wow, I had a great time hanging out in this terminal! They have most adequate floor space to sit on for when the bench seating runs out! I just love sitting in the dirt on the floor. I gotta say, I was overjoyed when found out that Greyhound had overbooked my bus and that I would have the immense pleasure of spending even more early morning hours in this grand palace of a bus terminal! Everyone was in such good spirits- no one could hardly keep their voices down about the wonderful service and communication. Believe you me, when they say its gonna be 10 more minutes till the next bus arrives, be glad to know that 10 really means 60 in Greyhound time. I've caught the Greyhound to North Carolina so I could visit family during my college days. It's best to arrive early to catch your bus. I'll say 2-3 hours before your bus departs. Greyhound buses fill up very quick. The lines start forming early so customers can ensure they will make it to their destination on time. If you see a line forming at your gate, dont hesitate to hop in line. If buses are filled up, you will get bumped to the next bus. This throws your timing off. It's best to catch a bus with fewer stops. The customer service is medicore.The service is usually very slow, so spare yourself some time. I personally never expect much from the Greyhound Bus Line. I try to get to my destination as quick as possible. The food options are limited. You shouldn't have a problem finding a cab in front of that station. read more

Buses were very clean and well kept. I was on a trip to GA from NY ($87 for a one way trip), 18 hours (because of stops) This was my first time riding with greyhound bus line. I was expecting the worst because of the previous reviews, but I was presently surprised. Drivers were very helpful and professional. There were outlets on my bus, beautiful views during the ride as well. Also, in my experience the buses were cool, not muggy or hot at all. Dress warm and comfortable or bring a blanket with you onto the bus and the ride will be a lot smoother. The only reason I'm giving the bus line 4 stars is because they made us transfer 3 times without notice on the itinerary.. read more

This Greyhound in particular is terrible during 3rd shift! I have missed 2 buses dealing with customer service horrible attitude. I believe they were trying to make money off of me because they kept telling me I had to purchase another ticket. However, when I did, I asked them which door to the next bus. Nobody could give me an answer. I would ask if the bus was coming on time, and the response was "We don't know". Every question I asked pertaining to bus schedules/information, I could not get help because no one knew any thing. On top of that, the attitude I received was trash! Instead of finding the information for me, I was told by several employees, "I don't have time for this!". I purchased a round trip ticket from Washington DC to Hampton Virginia on last Saturday October 28th. The bus was clean and left on time exactly at 11:15 a.m. and arrived in Richmond around 1:20 pm. I was told that there would be a layover of approximately 1 hour before we continued on to Hampton Virginia. I had a preaching engagement in that City on the following day. Our trip was to continue on attend 2:25 but at 2:45 we were told that no replacement/ relief driver was available to take us to Williamsburg, Hampton, or to Norfolk. The limited amount of helpers at the front ticket counter became very belligerent when people Began to ask them what were they going to do to fix the situation. After much heated discussions at 3:15 we were informed that we that we could board a bus that was being prepared to leave at 4:15. They could not assure us that all of the inconvenienced passengers who were waiting would be able to board that bus but fortunately we were all accommodated. I had to ask somebody to find some help to help the one person at the desk to reroute the tickets of the people who were waiting to be boarded. This was the most disorganized group of service Personnel that i have ever encountered while traveling with Grayhound. The bus that they gave us must have been in some sort of quarantine because the oder on that bus was horrendous and it caused my allergies to really act up. This delayed inconvenience made me miss a very important dinner date that I had made a commitment to attend. The host Pastor was concerned about my experience in getting to Hampton and became even more concerned about what I might encounter in Richmond as I sought to get back to DC that he had one of his ministers drive me back to DC in a car rather than to take the bus. I chose to take the bus because of its convenient schedule and its economic price. I have ridden on Greyhound on many occasions and have never had a problem until this last trip. What concerns me now is that there is a serious problem coming out of Geyhound's Richmond hub. Two weeks prior to my situation, my sister had the same problem leaving DC trying to get into Philadelphia because the Richmond division did not send a driver. 3 hours later Greyhound refunded her money and told her to catch Megabus which charged her an additional $30 and Greyhound didn't make good on it at that time. She complained and Greyhound fixed the situation for her. The holidays are coming and you might want to be very careful if you have to travel in an area which must be serviced by buses that go into or come out of Richmond. This greyhound is filthy & the employees are unprofessional. When I went to check in my bag I was never greeted, the employees just kept talking about personal stories & experiences. Then I get there approximately 8-10 min before the expected bus departure and I heard no announcement that the bus was there nor did the employee say that my bus was outside. Then I eventually seen my bus pull off and they did not exchange my ticket nor refund. I had to buy another ticket and it was a mess. Between the 2+ hour delays, homeless people panhandling outside, intoxicated passengers inside or the roaches crawling on the floor, I would have to rate this the worst travel experience ever. What was supposed to be a 6 hour trip turned into 9 hours. Terrible trip. Originally had a 1.5 hour layover (which I wasn't told about when I purchased the ticket by the way) and have now been sitting in the Richmond terminal for 3 hours. No one can give me any information as to why we're waiting. I talked to another couple waiting on my bus, and they said in the 10+ times they've ridden Greyhound busses they have never once made it to their destination on time. Avoid using Greyhound busses at all costs, even if it means you have to spend a little more on your trip. It's been absolutely miserable. read more

This has to be one of the dirtiest stations I have been at. This isn't my preferred way to travel but it's cheaper and gets me where I need to go. On my trip I visited a few greyhound locations.. and this is by far the dirtiest. The men's room is a disaster and smelled horrible. I visited this location twice within a span of a week and was disappointed on both occasions. Not to mention greyhound themselves has lousy scheduling and are filled with delays throughout said schedule. The wifi they provide will barely get a page loaded. My review will be objective as possible, so you can interpret and make your own judgement. I paid for a 4:00pm express line ticket to Dc from Richmond. There was no notification of how long the bus would take to arrive at the station past the expected time. The bus arrived at 6:15. No consolation given other than "Sorry we are running late." The station itself is ill kept with little seating for waiting patrons, most of who stand or sit on the floor. Additionally, water is above $3 per liter in the convenience store. During boarding, boarding numbers were disregarded and out of order. During the ride, the bus had no wifi service equipped, nor would the chairs recline--both of which were profusely advertised throughout the station and on the website. However, the driver was genial in answering my question of "Is this bus wifi equipped?" with "It should be, but some of the older models are not, so it might not." I am currently en route, so I cannot provide any information about actual travel duration compared to the expected time. This has not been the first time I have encountered this customer service and overall performance in the Greyhound Bus Lines. I would say between 4 and 6 separate occurrences, with this specific one being about the average experience between them all. read more

I wish I could give this place negative stars because it's the worst bus terminal you could ever go to. The busses are always late, delayed, or just plain out cancelled last minute. Late night busses are the worst. They are extremely unorganized and lacking professionalism. There is an extreme shortage of bus drivers and I constantly ask myself why they continue to book busses when they know there won't be a driver. I had a connection from Hampton to here on my way to New York. My bus was at 1:45 am and I ended up having a delayed bus which ultimately became cancelled and had to be rescheduled for an 8:15 am bus. I was here for 7+ hours and all we receive is a measly $7.50 food voucher. This is the second time this has happened but who cares as long as they continue to receive customers and money. DONT USE GREYHOUND. If I could give less than 0 stars I would. I took a round trip ticket from RVA to Roanoke. And the day I was supposed to take the trip back--a trip they SOLD ME A TICKET FOR--was never planned to happen. I was stranded in Roanoke by a greyhound station at 5 in the morning. I called customer service and they said it was a holiday and my ticket was non refundable nor were there any other buses running... Then why did you sell me a ticket for that day? I would have been fine if the busses listed that day as "nothing running" but no, greyhound sold me a ticket for a bus that wasn't ever going to show up. I had to take a taxi back. (Shout out to Reid taxi service in Roanoke, really saved me that day and it was nice to have a kind person after all that happened). To conclude, use Megabus or Amtrak or rideshare. I cannot even begin to explain how useless the info desk is. I would actually give them a ZERO. I have never rode the greyhound bus and I NEVER WILL AGAIN. My boyfriend and I booked a trip for 1:15pm on Sunday that would get us to Baltimore MD at 9:45pm Sunday for our 8:00am flight Monday to LAX California. We made our way to Richmond after two stops on the way to pick up others. Once we got to Richmond where we were 1hr late. We were suppose to catch our bus from Richmond to Baltimore at 5:15pm. We did not reach Baltimore until a little after 6pm. Of course the weather of snow slowed us down and we completely understood that. Our 5:15pm bus left us unfortunately. Once in Richmond bus location we then started receiving the run around after 7 hours of patiently waiting to board a bus. We never ONCE received any notification about when we would leave AT ALL. It took people going up to the counter asking about when we would leave until someone finally said something over the intercom. 7 hours we sat around the station watching other buses come and go as we heard nothing regarding our 3038 bus. It is now going on 9 hours and still no driver. "Apparently" they have been waiting for a bus driver to come and get us. 9 hours now and we are "Waiting" for a bus driver as our bus sits outside the door to my right running. THIS IS THE WORST BUS SERVICE AND WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MG LIFE. I urge other PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE GREYHOUND BUS. We are sitting here 9 hours later and they just boarded another bus that has been waiting for only a little over 2 hours. I arrived at Richmond, VA June 7th at 3pm. My bus was suppose to leave at 5:15 pm on yesterday to get me to Baltimore, MD. I waited in Richmond until 1:30am June 8th until I got on a bus. Greyhound had me and 38 other people waiting In the station all day due to them not having a driver to drive the route. So the supervisor issued me a new ticket. However it was for 3:30 am!!!!! I cried to a man who was an employee beneath the supervisor and he snuck me on the bus that was leaving at 1:30am!!!! This is the worse experience I ever had to go throwing ugh. Then not to mention I called corporate requesting a refund... they stated that I have to wait 24 hours after my arrival time to my trip's destination. Hence, I have to call them June 9th just to get my money back. After they had me waiting in a station for 10 hours. The supervisor at corporate stated they can't call their customers and some supervisors cannot guarantee a call back since they have other customers lol. What type of corporate business is greyhound and you all aren't providing any customer with any resolution. Never never never never travel with greyhound. The facilities are disgusting, the employees are a disgrace, and the corporate office is incompetent to customer centricity. i bought my son a ticket from Alabama to New Hampshire. he took bus 1080 from Atlanta to Richmond and was supposed to leave Richmond VA at 11:30 am on 1006. it's 3:00 pm and the tracker on this bus route (1006) is turned off. i called and they started telling me that his bus will arrive in Richmond at 3:44. i said that's impossible because he called me from Richmond when he arrived at 10:30 am. i had to argue with customer service and eventually discovered there is a 5 hour delay in Richmond. wow, does that mean he'll be 5 hours late arriving here? next time, fly. read more

I would just like to let all of you out there know never to go on greyhound! They will steal your money, treat you like a criminal, and provide absolutely no customer service! Today I was supposed to board a 6pm greyhound bus from Richmond to Baltimore. My sister purchased the ticket for me but accidentally put her name down as the passenger instead of mine. An honest mistake. I tried to explain to the ticket collector what happened after he was unable to scan the barcode on my boarding pass. He treated me as if I were a criminal and didn't even try to listen to what I had to say. He even told me that I would need to buy another ticket because of the wrong name. I showed him my ID and how our last names matched and even offered to wait until everyone got on the bus so he could see how my sister was not there to board the bus. He took absolutely no time to listen to what I had to say and just kept pointing to the front desk where the line was way too long for me to purchase a new ticket and board the same bus. I was obviously upset by having to deal with his rude and unaccommodating attitude. But what was even worse was the fact that I missed my bus and Greyhound didn't refund my money! My sister called them and tried to explain everything that had happen but they did nothing! And treated her the same way as the bus collector! As a frequent traveler, I have seen many cases similar to this where the bus companies have been amazingly accommodating. I plan to dispute this with my credit card company. Please avoid greyhound and go to Amtrak! (Which is where I ended up going) It is WAY better and they don't collect your ticket until AFTER you board because they actually TRUST their customers! Bus driver was never scheduled for my trip from Richmond to Baltimore with greyhound...after 3.5 hours of waiting we were all shuffled onto another bus. This bus stopped in union station and the driver got lost..then at Union station they stated we were gonna switch drivers..1.5 hours later the same driver comes back and states he's going to driver the rest of the way to Baltimore. I'm exhausted and the customer service is horrific. No one answers questions or provides updates. Never again. I would give it a ZERO if I could Bus 0381 left Charlottesville VA 2 hours late yesterday afternoon, my sons destination was Camp Legeune, Jacksonville, NC to arrive at 945 this morning. He ended up with a SEVEN hour layover in Raleigh and was the only person in the building, no heat, no where to go all alone. At 4 am 10 other Marines who were also trying to report for training arrived to the bus station. It was 20 degrees outside and no heat in the building. The bus arrived at 6 am and broke down at 7 am just outside of Wilson NC. I made a total of 23 phone calls to Greyhound to try to get these people rescued. At 3pm THREE PM a rescue bus arrived to pick up these Marines and 5 civilians. The Marines were to have been on base by 1pm. Some have been on the bus for over 33 hours ALL are from either Virginia or as far south as Georgia. Not one single person that I spoke to at greyhound knew what was going on. 3 people tried to tell me my sons bus had been canceled and he was at the bus station. NOT ONE SINGLE person in customer service, greyhound main office or Raleigh station knew anything about a broken down bus. While I was on the phone with the 23rd person (and no I am NOT kidding, TWENTY THREE damn people) my son texted to say the rescue bus had finally arrived. The Bus driver called for help at 7:15am. What is wrong with you people???? None of your numbers go to the station it says its going to, NONE of the people who work those phones speak english outside of the script you provide for them. (usually I am fine with a non-english speaking person who is trying to help But NONE of them even attempted to help and all refused to transfer me to someone else). The Marines need to stop dealing with this horrible company. They have a contract with greyhound and they should sever all ties. 7 and a half hours on the side of the road. I even gave them the GPS coordinates of the bus sent to me by my son. You are a disgraceful useless horrible company and you should have gone out of business a LONG time ago. I needed to catch a 5.50 pm bus to New York on 4/3/2013. Due to a recent injury, resulting in a torn ligament, I was hobbling around on crutches. I reached the station only at 5.40 pm and stood in line to print my 'will-call' tickets from the kiosk. Seeing that the 2 people in front of me didn't let me jump the line, I made my way to the gate to request them to wait 5 min longer while I printed out my tickets. To my dismay, and utter disgust, I was met with an angry outburst from the lady driver, who YELLED at me about how she couldn't make the other 55 people wait on the bus for me. The story of the quality of their staff doesn't even end here. After booking me on the 11.40 pm bus to New York (scheduled to reach there by 6.20 am), the lady at the counter wasn't even able to pick the earliest bus from NY to Boston, putting me on the 8.30 am instead of the 7 am! With so many other buses now, greyhound needs to pick up this deplorable service they offer their customers! read more

If I could put zero stars I would. I took a bus from NYC to Florida because of the ridiculously high air fare rates during Christmas time. I will never take this bus again. They made us get off at the dirtiest grey hound stops over an hour each time. We took the bus from D.C. to Richmond. The bus was pretty smelly. I'm not sure what could be done to improve toilet smells on long distance coaches as this seems to be a general problem.
