This is absolutely one of the worst bus lines I've ever seen in my life took two full days to get from Reno to Denver, Colorado. When I book the trip, it is show direct routes and did not show all the little stops in between as well when I was in Las Vegas I was stuck to my own devices as there was issues on the bus, and there was no compensation whatsoever was just left to deal with things on my own. In 2021, I bought a ticket for my daughter and two grandchildren and myself to go to Anaheim Disneyland, from Reno Nevada. We never got to go due to covid. When I called the company they said they do not refund tickets and all i wanted was an extension for a different time , but that I could send the tickets to their headquarters in Texas, which I did. We never heard a word back from them and I lost $422.00 what a rotten company. We have always traveled by Greyhound. I am 73 and live on Social Security. And I have traveled with Greyhound since I was 17 years old.. Why have they changed so much? In March, 2023 I bought tickets from what I thought was Greyhound, on line. I turned out to be Flix Bus,, and we had everything booked in San Francisco going from Reno, Nevada. Tours, the room etc. The bus NEVER SHOWED UP !! We received texts that it would not run on that day it was March and Spring break for my grandkids. What a lousy company this has turned out to benas I said already. Wow, where do I event begin. Fair warning this review is a little late, but it is because I have been trying to go through Better Business Bureau to get my case heard. I was heading home for spring break and have never taken the Greyhound, I heard a few horror stories but decided I would save myself the drive to Sacramento by taking the Reno Greyhound station. I purchased my ticket earlier that day for a 6:50 bus ride to Sacramento. I arrived at 6pm since I have never taken Greyhound and wanted to get my ticket, check in and be early for my ride. When I arrived to the bus station there were several people already waiting outside the locked doors. At this point it was 30 degrees outside and everyone was freezing including a man with his two year old child. We waiting until 8pm, and our train was not there and no one opened the door. A few of us called the Greyhound customer service line to ask if the ride had been cancelled, some representatives said there was just a delay and some said that the ride was cancelled. We kept getting mixed information and we were not sure on if we should leave or stay. When I called customer service and asked why I was not informed there was something wrong with my ride, or why the station was not open to communicate the cancelled ride to their customers I was not given a response. The representative kept repeating that he could change my bus time. I asked for the representatives name over the phone and he hung up my call. At 8:30/8:45 I came home and called customer service again, I told the representative I was not interested in changing my bus time and wanted a refund. He said he would just change my bus time and if I no longer wanted the ride the following day I could go to grey hound and return my ticket for a refund. I ended up driving to Sacramento the following day and a few days later went to the Sacramento Greyhound station to get a refund. I was told since I bought the tickets online I am not eligible for a refund and I would have to go through the phone customer service line. I called customer service and was told they could not issue me a refund and there was nothing they could do since it was a online purchase. Again, I asked why the customer service was terrible and said I was not really interested in the policy because I was told by a customer service rep I could get a refund and I was frustrated with the miscommunication I have been receiving. I asked for her name and she said she would not disclose it because I was not interested in the policies. I said I would listen to the policy so I could get her name. She was very rude and said for me to hang up the call if I was unsatisfied with the information I was hearing. She also said there was no manager I could speak with about my issue. I did get her name but for the sake of this review I am not sure if I am allowed to disclose it. But at the end of the day she was a rep from the Philippines so it would be impossible to file a complaint. I am overall disappointed that I was lied to about being able to get a refund for a bus ride that I initially did not want to change. I wanted a refund but the rep just changed it for me anyways. I also am upset that no one communicated my bus route was cancelled, the least the company can do is send out a courtesy email to their customers. read more

If I could do zero stars I would. Where do I start. We took Greyhound to Sanfrancisco for spring break. 2 days before we leave I get a notice it canceled. So I rescheduled. We left for Sanfran without any more issues. 2 days before we come home I get a notice you canceled our return trip. I was on Alcatraz and had to call. I was informed you were not running Friday or Saturday and we were left to book another night at the hotel we were at. Are you kidding me? So I call and book a return trip. And added another night to our stay. You had the audacity to confirm the BUS the day BEFORE we were to return. We woke up at 4AM to ensure we would get to the bus on time. We get there to find out none of the buses showed up including the one to Los Angeles. You can't use bad weather as an excuse for that! How dare you? Tell the truth! Why are you not running? When I called I was told every bus you own had technicalities. Really? Then you cancelled the bus leaving so many stranded. We ended up with an extra room charge and 4 Amtrak tickets costing us over 700.00. Many ppl had to take Amtrak or be stranded. Why? I'm beyond angry. You need to do better!!! I will start with homeless guy dressing in the lobby and his stuff spread everywhere in front of the check in counter..or the huge lady digging in her VJ the whole time, the customers smoking blunts outside by the bus...I guess that's what you get for $15. Greyhound used to be a reputable company- no more...disgusting....the buss reeked of urine, and was filthy - trash everywhere, seats, Windows were disgusting. The driver made sure to announce that the reason the bus was not cleaned was the employees at the Reno station didn't think they were paid enough to clean - so they don't do it? Unfortunately the bus broke down from Sacramento stop to Reno so there was a 3hr delay.. :( A woman on the bus said that this was the second time, with the same exact driver that this had happened along this route.... As I cannot speak to past, this was my first trip via Greyhound... but the driver was crude, crass, cold, and had absolutely no customer service experience at all. That coupled with the fact that there is no security in the Reno station and it looks like there even used to be a mini sub-police station but they have since vacated the premises too. Coming from the Oakland station where the is full security and patrols... I expected that same atmosphere across the board. The seating is odd too, as all the seats face the same way and are oddly placed in the building so you have to sit uncomfortably sideways when trying to make sure you don't miss a friend walking through! read more

Greyhound, you got me messed up. After what was otherwise a fun weekend in Reno, my daughter was feeling increasingly ill so getting her to a doctor at home was important. Like most sensible people, I was up early before our morning trip to pull up my e-ticket and pack my luggage. Imagine my dismay when I saw that my e-ticket was "no longer available" and the screen asked me to call customer service. The agent who answered my call informed me that my trip had been cancelled. When I asked why I had not received an email or call, the agent told me I should have received a call. When I told her I did not, she offered to put us on the afternoon trip. I accepted reluctantly. I saw that there were other trips to nearby Bay Area cities but could only purchase tickets in person. We hustled to the Stevenson station. It was surrounded by chain link fencing and completely abandoned. At no time had the agent I spoken with alerted me to this change. We took a Lyft to the Amtrak station. We were informed that Greyhound tickets weren't available there and that I actually needed to go to the Sparks station for my afternoon trip. I called customer service and they admitted that my trip would pick up in Sparks. Again, the agent hadn't bothered to let me know of this change. It was too late to head to Sparks to try to get another trip out of Reno. I decided to take Amtrak as it would leave town a few hours earlier. I called Greyhound and they offered me a new trip the next day or later in the week as my ticket was nonrefundable. As before, NO ONE BOTHERED to tell me. I told them to keep my money. Bye, Greyhound. We never had a good relationship to start. read more

Friday about 4:00pm it's 23 degrees but feels like -23 degrees. 6 of us heading to Sacramento wait outside a closed station. The bus driver going to Vegas loads up and leaves. There's a bus parked with the door open so we naturally assume the driver is in the restroom or taking a break. By 7:15pm we are all freezing, we have all used the restroom inside the abandoned bus and decide to call guest service. So all buses have been cancelled and their policy for such an event is NOT to notify the passengers. They did exchange the tickets for a different date at no charge. Gee, thanks. We all had to lug baggage 3 blocks to the closest casino and stay the night. read more

I would give them negative 5 stars if I could, let's start with my 8 hour bus ride from Sacramento, CA to Reno...first the bus was delayed by 2 hours and by the time we left Truckee the battery died on the bus, it took them 2 hours to get another bus, this was supposed to be 3 hour and 40 minute trip! Today the driver left Reno without putting the chains on the bus and then 3 hours into our trip past Truckee he decided he should pull over and put the chains on the bus it took him 2 hours and when we finally got going again that evening we were rerouted back to Reno after driving another hour because now the highway was closed! If their driver had put the chains on before we left we would have made it back to Sacramento before the road had closed. Now I still have to figure out when and how me and my child are getting back to Sacramento because the Reno Amtrak/Greyhound station was closed by the time we got back! Another 8 hour trip to no where! If I get home tomorrow this definitely will be my last ride on Greyhound Bus line!! I called customer service and they couldn't help me at all, absolutely the worst trip ever!! Next day they tell me the bus is still in transit since 1pm the day before , and I have to call back in hour to get resolution on how we are to get home this company has no accountability and since they outsourced the customer service you can't get any help. Greyhound is the absolute worst company to travel with! Don't waste your time and they won't fix anything and just give you the run around and the driver who sat on side of the road for 2 hours supposedly putting on chains lives in Reno and was very happy to go back home instead of doing his job yesterday and marked it as weather issues when there wasn't any other than him not wanting to drive to Sacramento that day!! read more

The awefulest thing you can imagine. I had a trip from San Jose to Reno, the scheduled time of arrival was 6:30 pm, and it arrived at 10:30 pm. On the return trip after boarding half of the passengers, they told us they are overbooked and the rest of the passengers have to wait for 4.5 hrs for the next bus without any apology or explanation. Have never been to a business so unorganized. My family and I came here last night and already had our 8:30pm ticket purchased last week to San Francisco. We got to this greyhound at 7:45pm and the guy said there wasn't a driver for our time, but a driver will PROBABLY come anytime from 9-11pm. First of all, we got no notifications saying that there was so driver, and second, the guy at the front sounded so skeptical and wasn't sure if someone was even going to come. We decided to spend another night in Reno because the guy said we can come back the next morning ANYTIME and get issued any ride we wanted with no charge. So next day comes along, we decided to take the 8:30am one. Went there early, and the lady said the only available time is 1pm. She said everything in the morning was already sold out since 5:30am. The guy should have reissued our tickets last night when we got there so we could have our seats saved, he wanted to just kick everyone out because they were already closed. Now we're left waiting for more than 24hrs because of the unorganized, rude, unprofessional system they have. Staff was not helpful, and the whole greyhound experience was not reliable. San Francisco is hours away and now we're stranded. Never again!! read more

The bus reeked of urine even at the very front of the bus. The bathroom was filthy and the toilet was 90% full. The driver was rude and grouchy. I would give this bus company a review of an F. Dropped my Wife off this afternoon at the Reno-Sparks Transit Center for a trip over to Sacramento. The young lady at the counter was very nice and the driver checking in passengers was ok as well-but the baggage handler was terrible!! First of all-he didn't seem to even know how to stack baggage in the undercarriage of the bus. He kept putting big things up front and then having to move them when he ran out of room and hitting his head on the ceiling of the baggage compartment. He spent most of his time glowering at customers and the bags while doing very little-he spent way too much time for the small number of bags he had to stow. He yelled at 4 or 5 customers while I was there and could speak very little English.He kept screaming "Where you going" even though there was only one bus there and it was going to Sacramento-kind of a no-brainer. He would give very condescending looks to customers, wave them off and yell. What a terrible representative he is for Greyhound!! Somebody from personnel should go undercover and check this guy out. The street parking is limited, and the available spots are metered-bring coins! The interior seating is adequate, but the lines to the gates form quickly, so arrive early! There are video games, tv's, and vending machines within the station. If you need access to a storage locker or pay phone those amenities are available. There is a sheriff substation within the Station, so security is reasonably adequate. Bring your patience and enjoy your ride. read more

Overall, I don't usually care to write reviews, especially not negative ones. However, this was really just an unfortunately negative experience and I'd like to help other people avoid it if possible. Staff cursed (F-bombs) in front of me multiple times to other staff. They were kind to me though so it made up for the unprofessionalism I guess. Left 30 min after scheduled departure time from Reno. Was supposed to have a 45min layover from 6:15-7:00PM (In Sacramento). The bus driver didn't arrive at the station until after 10PM and had to be flown in for our drive. When people inquired about the status of the bus driver, the staff member in Sac screamed and asked people to be escorted out. The same woman helped me get my bag from the bus nicely afterwards though. I had a flight out of San Francisco at 12:55AM. Luckily it was cancelled or I would have totally missed it. The bus itself was comfortable but a bit smelly & my only seat charging plug didn't work. I don't have a problem with public transportation, I'm all for saving money. But having my own car to park would have been such a better situation regardless of the extra expense. read more

Today I had the opportunity to travel and have a layover at the Amtrak/ Greyhound station in San Jose, CA. The employees here are exceptional. We had a for hour layover and one employee too me and my son's bags so we had one less thing to worry about. Then a really nice lady came out the kitchen and ask us and others if we wanted popcorn. Otherwise she would just throw it away. I love the courtesy here! The gentleman cleaning the restrooms did such an awesome job. This team needs to be recognized. read more

On July 14, 2015 my cousin and my aunt bought tickets for the 8:30 pm departure from Reno to Los Angeles. my aunt uses a walker and has a very, very hard time walking; Bruce at the ticket counter notice she was going to need help boarding the bus, and before we could ask for assistance he informed the bus driver (who just happen to walk to the ticket counter at that time ) that she needed to board the bus first. Frederick the bus driver and another gentleman ( I did not get his name ) helped my cousin to get my aunt on the bus and they even recommended which seat to sit on. Many places offer assistance to older seniors who need help; i'm giving them five stars not just for what they did, but for the way they did it; they where very friendly, helpful and very patient. I am definitely not your usual greyhound client, I mostly travel by airplane. And in fact was planning to head back to Sacramento by plane but there were no flights for the time I needed. That being said for only $7 I had virtually no expectations. $7!!! My 10 minute uber from Atlantis to Greyhound station was $9! Now I was going 3 hours for $7. Let me tell you this is a crazy experience and might be shocking if you usually travel by air. The station is disgusting, homeless people everywhere, druggies in the bathrooms, and only one check in guy not even wearing uniform. We purchased the tickets online so didn't have to check in, the bus boarded at 8:20pm and left right on time at 8:30pm. The bus was comfortable, temperature was perfect, relatively clean (keep in mind it's night time to everything hidden), free WiFi and power outlets. Only complaint was lumbar support is nonexistent as my lower back was in constant pain and sleep was impossible. We had no delays or stops so we arrived at 10:45 pm into a much cleaner Sacramento station, that's 45 minutes ahead of schedule! Overall very impressed, will be taking Greyhound again for regional trips. One suggestion is I don't think it was necessary to arrive an hour early like I did, it wasn't till 8:20 they assigned the gate and went straight into boarding. I am on crutches and have an extreme mobility problem and NOBODY has even offered to help me with my suitcase or bag and just left me standing stranded outside of the bus and station. My problem is not with this location but it is with greyhound in general. I purchased an economy extra ticket from Grand Rapids, MI to Lansing, MI for February 5. I thought I made the purchase for the 4:20pm trip but mistakenly booked the 7:15am trip. I understand it was my own fault but Greyhound wanted me to pay $20 to change the time of my ticket. I'm not paying $20 to change the time on a $12 ticket! Hell no! So I guess I'll just chalk it up as a lesson learned and buy another ticket but this time just economy for $2. read more

This place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in decades and the staff is super rude. None of the outlets on the bus worked and you were lucky to get a working reading light. Yesterday there were very long delays, which is understandable because it's the holidays, but once we finally arrived in Reno (3 hours after our scheduled arrival) the staff wouldn't even let us out the front door. A staff member yelled that they were closed and kicked all of the passengers out onto the street, some of which had very young children and it was freezing outside. This is extremely bad customer service. I will say that Oakland's staff was amazing and were very nice and kept their cool through all the confusion and delays, but I will not be riding with Greyhound again. read more

This station is awful. You're always really late going to your next destination. I'm on the first bus going out this morning and they can't get things together. We're already twenty minutes late, which is forever when you have a transfer at the next station, and there's no sign of the bus driver. FYI GREYHOUND DOES NOT SERVE RENO UNLESS YOU BUY A TICKET FROM GREYHOUND'S "RENO AMTRAK" LOCATION. If they sell you a ticket from "Reno" to Oakland, the bus will depart from centennial plaza at 1421 Victorian Avenue. It costs $2 to travel from downtown Reno the the Victorian Ave station, and it is a 10 minute local bus ride. read more

Have to stay all night in the lobby to talk to manager for refund and to get a ticket back to Sacramento! They had a driver and said we were being driven to Salt Lake City then the driver refused. Wow, what a trip. The bus was such a surprise!!! I never expected to ride on a bus and feel like I was on a train. The guest that rode with us were as nice as they could be. The seats were roomy. We had Wifi which was a nice extra. Then at the end, I left a valuable IPad on the back pocket of the seat. My daughter called me from Little Rock, Arkansas and let me know that she had received a call from Greyhound. They had found the IPad and it would be waiting for me in the manager's office. We gave the employee that found the IPad a little tip for our appreciation. Who says riding a Greyhound is not safe? I can say I felt great during the entire trip that started in Salt Lake City, Utah and ended in Reno, Nevada. Also, the stations were clean and organized. The good: air conditioned, bathrooms are clean, ample seating. The bad: pretty much everything else. Service is slow. Like it took 40 minutes to go through 3 customers kind of slow. I came here twice and both times I saw people waiting a ridiculously long amount of time to get their affairs in order. I saw a few who barely made it on their bus. My bus was 40 minutes late; who knows why. There's no security. I didn't see any outlets, aside from the one to charge the video games. Plus one star for scoring two diet cokes for the price of one. I just kept pushing the button and two popped out. Literally the best part about staying here. read more

First of all, the services was awful, the bus arrived 1.30 late, I missed my tour and basketball game on San Francisco, the bus was so unconfortable and dirty. On the stops in Sacramento and Oakland the bus driver told us that the wait time was 10 min, however instead it was 30 to 40 min. Outrageous!!! Even knowing that the were 1.30 behaind, the did not try to compensate the delay. On the way back to Reno, the bus smell like urine, it was disgusting, I have to travel for 5 hours smelling urine and unconfortable in your seats, they bus was dirty. I arrive home and took a shower. I certainly wont travel again. I am going to add this to Yelp, so people can know what the are purchasing. read more
