I love Dr Amy's dental hygienist as much as I love Dr Amy. I forgot her name. But the hygienist is exceptionally gentle while also being super quick. And she's always friendly. And she's always super helpful with whatever dental topics I might throw at her. Dr Amy is just as great. And she seems to stay up on treatments and trends regarding preventative dental care. Dr. Amy Griffith is a fantastic dentist. I can't recommend her highly enough! Her work is perfection and (although she warned about possible discomfort) painless. The care quality is quite good. However their billing department is shady. I am asked to sign documents for services that cost $8000+ even when I am not planning to get them done. They also don't include any information on how much insurance will cover. My previous dentist will give me detailed information on my part of the estimate and only then asked for signatures. Last time they wanted me to sign documents for services I won't be doing for at least a year. When I refused to sign, they canceled my appointment. I repeatedly asked why I need to sign something I am not sure I will be doing with them, but the only answer I got was "sign or we cancel appointment " read more

Great practice. It starts with the front office. They are always polite, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They know how to explain insurance, upcoming appointments and more. All the Dental Assistants and Hygienists have been great. They explain what they are doing and what to expect. They all have been extremely nice and thoughtful for those of us who have had bad dentist experiences. They have a light touch. All of the Dentists have been very detailed, gentle, kind and can explain what is going on. I never have any doubts or anxiety when I come in for an appointment. My younger brother has been seeing Dr. Paul Griffith for his dental needs and I have nothing but phenomenal things to say about Dr. Paul. Today, however we had a dental emergency and the office was very accommodating and was able to have him seen by Dr. Amy (for the first time). We have been going to this practice as a family for years now. Griffith Family Dental was referred to us by family friends and they raved about the practice. We have been very happy with choosing them as our dentists. They are very professional, the hygienists are very good and friendly, and the office staff is very helpful. If I write about this Dentist. I would have to admit I would be typing forever because he is the best dentist. I SWEAR On my MOTHER and FATHERS life This dentiist IS AWESOME! He cares for his patients and I will explain why without writing too much. If you fear Dentist or Fear needles and shots like I do. THEN READ BELOW. These are all my reasons why I would suggest EVERYONE should go to DR Griffith AKA Dr. Paul. 1. I was not even a patient to begin with. I called him on a Sunday with all these crazy symptoms. Dr. Paul sent a prescription quickly to Walgreens and told me to get it ASAP. He also told me to go to the Hospital and get treated. He told me to call him back after I got back even if it was after 3 a.m. I remember he said "Make sure you call me back because i'm worried and I will call you if you dont call me" I picked up my prescription however I never went to the hospital as he told me because i fear those Doctors. Dr Paul wasn't even my dentist yet. However he tells me to call him back anytime at night so he could make sure I will be alright. The major "eye poking pain" and swelling went down after I picked up my prescription. CAN ANYONE FIND A DENTIST THAT WOULD TAKE THE EXTRA STEPS THIS DENTIST DID FOR ME? DOUBT IT! 2. IF YOU FEAR NEEDLES. READ THIS!! Dr. Powell is like a ninja with his needles. I am not exagerating. He can poke you with shot. I Swear again on my family. YOU WILL NOT FEEL THE PRICK OF THAT NEEDLE. You won't feel the needle go in. I swear to god. If your scared of needles make sure you tell him so he is aware otherwise he may give you the shot the normal way. If you tell him to do it the special way. He can do it so you wont feel the prick AT ALL. I didnt got to the denitst for 15 years because of this. Now I am not scared to go see Dr Paul at all. 3. Dr Paul. Does not descriminate or look down at people with bad teeth. He will always be your friend even if you dont see him. Even for the tweekers this Dentist will not look down on you. He is a good friend to all. I wish Dr Paul was a Family Doctor as well. We spoke for a long time over the phone as well at the office. Dont get me wrong. I'm not saying this in a way as i'm gay or anything. He is like a buddy and likes to help his patients. Even if your not a patient I can tell Dr Paul. Is good people person. He is one cool doctor. If you fear the dentist, needles, being looked down upon, or worried about anything even personal stuff habbits addictions etc. This is one dentist thats will make you feel good about yourself no matter what. I've never had any problems there and have gone through cavities, veneers, checkups etc. The office is plenty big and has at least three or four hygenists working every day in multiple rooms and are always courteous and nice. I wanted to update everyone on how things turned out... (See previous review below) I had a temporary tooth for a while. When we discussed a 'new' front tooth, Dr. Griffith asked me if I wanted to 'whiten' my teeth before choosing a color for the new tooth. OK, why not? I would never have run out and whitened my teeth just to do it, but it seemed like a good time to do it before getting a new false front tooth. So for the next few weeks I did the whitening (which was very easy). Earlier this week I went in to have the new front tooth put on. But Dr. Griffith did not like the shade of the new tooth, it was just a bit too grey. So he asked me to come back (today). I did, and the tooth was a PERFECT match. A little bit of glue and now you can not tell which front tooth is real, and which is fake. So, I want to say thank you to Dr. Peter Griffith, Beth and Ken (the tooth technician). Not only do I have a new front tooth, but a new whiter smile and all is good with the world. Thanks! :-) read more

My husband & I have been going to Griffith Family Dental for 9 months. We were referred by one of their amazing Dental Assistants, Beth. We are new to the west coast and were truly grateful for the direction. The front office staff, especially Jackie are so friendly and explain everything to you. My first visit with Dr Peter was so informational as he sat in a room with me and questioned me about my past dental experiences and informed me about my dental health. I then had my appt with Dr Peter regarding looking at my teeth, thank God for everything he found. He advised me to start using the Sonicare toothbrush and my teeth have never been healthier!!!! I don't normally write reviews on Dental offices, maybe because I've always been afraid of going twice a year. But with GCG/Griffith Family Dental, I feel quite at home with their friendly staff and quiet location. Recently I've signed up for GCG/Griffith Family Dental based on my significant other's recommendation. Dr. Shuba was the dentist who examined me, and her assistant Misty took my information and full mouth x-ray. Dr. Shuba inspected my gum quality, cleaned my teeth and provided after care and tips to keep my gums and teeth healthy. Will I come back, sure thing! I enjoyed my visit so much, I even recommended them to my close friend who ended up checking them out right after me. read more

We are so very thankful and grateful that Dr. Paul, his staff and associate Dr. Targ have come into our lives. We have an adult son who has special needs and is not keen on new places or sitting still. From the first time we met Dr. Paul we knew we had met the right dentist for Jason. Dr. Paul was so understanding, calm and patient with Jason and his behaviors. From the beginning he was able to interact with him and somehow relate dentistry to sports, which is our son's favorite topic. Last week Jason had his teeth cleaned while under sedation. The planning that went into this procedure and the expertise of Dr. Paul and Dr. Targ put us all at ease. We knew we had found the perfect dentist for our son. The smile on Jason's face as he realized he had nice, shiny teeth (which he showed to everyone for the next few days) was priceless. During the procedure Dr. Paul and Dr. Targ's staff kept us updated on Jason's progress and were there to answer any of our questions. They were able to transform a normally anxious situation to one of calm and reassurance. Jackie, who set up the appointments and helped with paperwork, was fantastic to work with and answered all of our questions prior to our appointment. And the follow up phone call to check on Jason the next day showed that this office really cares about their patients. We will definitely be seeing Dr. Paul on a regular basis for Jason's dental needs. read more

I have been going to Griffith Family Dental for years. I must say, I should have looked for another dentist long time ago. Griffith Family Dental's primary motive is how to get the most money out of you, and not what is really best for you. Period. Griffith Family is also extremely expensive, but still does not have highly skilled dentists! So you do not get your money's worth. On top of all that, many times they have given me bad advises, which ended up costing me a lot of unnecessary expenses in the long run. To make things worse, sometimes they intentionally won't tell you the cost of the procedure until it's done. So be ready for a "surprise" bill in the mail! My advise is, shop around before you pick a dentist. read more

Dishonest Dentist and office worker. Here is what happen: 1/6/2014 My lower tooth broke and its sharp edge hurt my tongue. My regular dentist recommended for me to get a crown for the broken tooth. He said that he will not work on my tooth while I am experiencing vertigo. A friend recommended Dr. Peter Griffith. 1/7/14 My friend called Dr. Griffith about my situation. Dr. Griffith said that my vertigo should not stop him from working on my broken tooth. He told my friend to have me call his office and make an appointment. I called Dr. Griffith's office the same day. I talked to his receptionist Debby. I explained to her that my broken tooth was cutting into my tongue and that I needed urgent care. Debby offered to get me into their office on the next day to smooth my tooth. I rejected that idea because my regular dentist already smoothed the tooth, and I needed proper treatment for the broken tooth. I asked if Dr. Griffith could work on my broken tooth if I see him. She confirmed that it would be possible, but the only appointment that fit my schedule was 10 days later. I spoke with Debby a few times over the next few days, and each time, she confirmed that Dr. Peter Griffith could fix my broken tooth during my visit. 1/17/14 I saw Dr. Griffith and as I was starting to explain to him my situation. He interrupted me and said "Ah, X called and told me about your vertigo and broken tooth". He examined my broken tooth and told me that I have the option of filling it or getting a crown. I told him right away that I wanted to have a crown on the broken tooth. He started examining the rest of my teeth, and I thought it was related to getting the crown for my broken tooth. He then tried to take a full mouth x-ray, but I stopped him and explained to him that I didn't want the x-ray exposure, and I didn't know if my insurance would cover the x-ray. The assistant said that they looked up my dental insurance, and they knew that I had just had an examination and cleaning the previous month, but I had not had a full mouth x-ray in a long time. My friend said that Dr Peter is a good dentist so I followed along. After the x-ray, I asked him to start working on my broken tooth, but he said he ran out of time for the day and I have to go back there 2 week later. 1/21/2014 I called Dr. Griffith's office and told Debby, the receptionist, that they had given me unnecessary service instead of fixing my tooth. I instructed her not to submit claims to my dental insurance for the examination since I had not asked for that service, and they had not fixed the tooth as per our previous agreement. She told me that the billing person was out of the office until Friday (1/24). I called back the same day with my dental insurance office adviser, and Jean, the billing person, was there! Jean said that she didn't know if they would submit the claim or not, and she would call me back by Friday. She never called me back. 1/28/14 I talked to Dr. Griffith and he agreed to talk on a recorded line. I asked him why he did not work on my broken tooth right the way. He said he could have but he did not. I asked why he spent time on an unnecessary routine dental examination and full mouth X-ray when he was fully aware that I had completed a check up the previous month and he is not my regular dentist. I told him that it was wrong of him to charge for unnecessary services. He claimed that he needed to spend time to understanding my vertigo and my allergy to Epinephrine. He was lying because he did not take any time to understand either one. He did not even know that my vertigo had been gone for days before I went in to see him. Throughout the call, Dr. Griffith tried to exert his authority by misremember and twisting events to his benefit. He made fraudulent claims about speaking with me before the visit on the phone, and he repeatedly tried to suggest a different version of events from history in his attempt to manipulate the story to take advantage of my insurance benefits. He also lied about asking me for permission to examine the rest of my teeth during the visit. If he had asked me about doing an examination during my visit, I would have rejected the service because the sole purpose for that visit was to fix my broken tooth. At the beginning of the talk about the visit, he said that the insurance filing could not be changed because the claims had been submitted via e-filing. After some discussion, he offered to withdraw the charges of the full mouth x-ray and the exam fee. He wanted to charge me for an office visit and one x-ray instead. I told him that his receptionist had confirmed with me several times that he could fix my broken tooth and would fix it immediately during my visit. If Debby had told me that Dr. Peter Griffith could not treat my broken tooth on the first visit, I would not have seen him. Dr. Griffith and his staff's deception cause me to suffer an additional 10 days, and they did not fix my broken tooth. read more

The staff of the office is very DISHONEST and RUDE! After first cleaning, the office called me to set up next visit. I gave them everything to verify the cleaning fee will be covered by insurance and they told me it would be no out of pocket fee for the cleaning. However, I got the $150 bill today. Just for simple cleaning. I can't believe how unprofessional and what liars these people are! I hope they're happy about losing patients all because of Jackie. read more

Griffin Family Dental is run by exceptional people. I've referred many friends and acquaintances there because they operate one of the best medical-related facilities I've ever seen. That's a lofty statement, I know, but cases in point: 1. Years ago I broke my front tooth at 4:30pm and had no regular dentist in the area. After calling around town trying to get in somewhere, they said the dentist was willing to stay late if I could get there asap. I arrived almost 1/2 hour after they closed, and not only did Dr. Griffin stay late, he took his time and didn't appear in any rush. 2. The office staff always goes out of there way to help re-schedule, call with reminders, assist with insurance issues, and their prices are fair and in the norm. 3. The dental assistants that do the cleanings are always friendly and do their best to be pain-free. 4. Dr. Griffin (Peter is my dentist, but his brother Paul works there, too) always projects a calm demeanor, always keeps up on the latest advancements, explains everything thoroughly, and tends to give pros and cons rather than try and scare you into doing this or that. I have never come across anyone here that wasn't friendly, helpful and professional. Someone else's review on here said there isn't anything about their operation that doesn't rate an A+, and that sums it up for me too. read more

About 15 years ago I awoke with an agonizing toothache. My regular dentist had retired so I headed to the yellow pages. By sheer luck I happened to choose Griffith Family Dental. I was immediately impressed with the friendly front office . They got me in to see Dr. Paul Griffith within 2 hours of my call & I left the office pain free &with a new dental office for life! Over the years I have seen Dr Peter & Dr. Paul & they are both amazing! They take the time to explain all facets of my dental care, thoroughly explain my options when applicable & giving their professional opinion when asked. Both Doctors. are knowledgeable regarding all aspects of modern dentistry, extraordinarily kind, and possess endless patience! In fact, when my husband was laid off from his job a few years back, Dr. Paul went so far as to refer me to the dental offices at the University of the Pacific for my dental care where dental students attend to patients to gain experience but at a reduced cost to the consumer. As my children have outgrown their pediatric dentist they too have begun going to Griffith Family Dental and seem to enjoy their visits as much as my husband & I have. I never thought I would enjoy going to the dentist, but this is one dental office that keeps me smiling!!! read more

I've had a number of crazy issues with my teeth, most notably pain that seems to have no explanation. I don't respond well to most dental restorations and often don't respond well to conventional dental anesthesia. I went to Dr. Paul a number of years ago (2008 as I recall) on the recommendation of a coworker and he took on my problems as if they were the singular issue of his day. He explained all of the possibilities, showed me all of the technical information on the different types of restorations available, and discussed with me the likelihood of success with each one. He was also honest about what was just unknown and was ready to try to figure it out. I've taken his advice and he's kept me pain free. And he remembers all of the things we did to solve the problems...it's not like just reading from a file, he actually remembers. I've also seen Dr. Shuba since she came onboard and she is just as thorough, knowledgeable, and explanatory as Dr. Paul. Eri is the best hygienist; always gentle, yet thorough and efficient. She also remembers the things we talk about from one visit to the next. It's hard to get a 5 star rating out of me because there's generally always some deficiency. Not so here. I made the first appointment and was impressed in how he was concerned for her well being. Yesterday, she went in for sedation dentistry. I sat and watched the procedure. Dr. Paul Griffith was professional, compassionate and thorough. If we were to do this all over, I would make the same decision and go to Dr. Paul! WOW!!! I moved to the bay area two years ago and randomly just found this dentist. I was always pleased with the routine care I recieved from Dr. Paul. Tonight he went over and beyond any expectation of any dentist. It was 9pm on a Saturday evening and I was brushing my teeth getting ready to go to bed. All of a sudden, one of my crowns popped off! I call the emergency number expecting to be sent to a hospital, but Dr. Paul actually answered and said come on down to the office now. I rushed there and he was able to cement my crown back on. I was very thankful that he went out of his way on a Saturday evening to help me. I would reccommend this dentist to anyone.
