The patio is nice! It is spacious and offers a marvelous vibe. They had the fireplace and heaters on their outside dining patio. Both inside and out are pretty spacious. Customer service was excellent. They were friendly and provided consistently great service. The smash burger was on point. Although they have some appealing burger offerings, I ordered the build-your-own. You choose your meat, cheese, toppings, and bun. The smash burger had a wonderful cheese melt, it was flavorful, the haystack onions were delicious, and the brioche pulled it all together. The other toppings were fresh. I ordered the truffle fries to go along with the burger. Fries only come with a few of their dishes. I wish the portion size of fries was a little more than what you get for the price; nevertheless, they were cooked well and were very good fries. Their ranch was tasty also. The food was served hot. Grill Marks Review Walking into Mark's Grill, I was immediately impressed by the welcoming atmosphere. They offer both indoor seating and a nice outdoor patio. The restaurant was a bit busy when I arrived, and I was asked if sitting at the bar was okay, which I didn't mind at all. As soon as I sat down, the bartender greeted me and took my order right away. excellent service from the start. He was very outgoing and friendly. When the seat next to me opened up, he immediately cleaned the area, which was great to see, especially during a busy time. The place overall felt very clean and well maintained. I ordered the Smokehouse Burger with fries. While waiting, the bartender consistently checked on me and kept my drink refilled, which I really appreciated. He even came back to let me know that the food was taking a little longer than usual since they weren't expecting it to be that busy. I completely understood and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere while waiting. The food arrived in about 24 minutes and looked fantastic. The burger was cooked exactly how I asked which was well done and tasted great. I upgraded my fries to the bleu pimiento fries, and they were absolutely delicious. Everything was spot on. After lunch, I ordered a Cookies & Cream dirt shake, and it was amazing. The presentation was fun, and you could tell care went into how it was made. They also have a full bar with a good selection of alcohol, although I didn't order any drinks this visit. I spent about $36.00 total including tip. Went here on a random Wednesday with a group of 8 friends. We ordered the three way: sweet potato fries, fried pickles, and haystacks. It was very salty; but decent size to share with 1/2 the table. I would have ordered 2 of them. The burgers were awesome. Thick and juicy with lettuce pickle and onion. The hot chicken fingers are delicious with a sweet and spicy taste from the dip of honey. The lemon pepper wings were little salty: but taste was wonderful with a smokiness. The Parmesan truffle fries are the best. Totally ordering those again. The nachos were ok. Not delicious. This was my first time back at Grill Marks in a couple years and I honestly was not impressed. From what I remember, the quality has gone down a lot. To start, the presentation was not great at all when we got our food. I wish they would've put it in a nice basket to make it look more put together or put something on the side (fries, pickles, etc) instead. My burger was very dry, I kind of wish they had some kind of sauce for their burgers to give it something extra. It was not very flavorful and I think for a place that specializes in burgers, I expected more. The truffle fries were good, but very oily. The one thing that was good was the service was pretty fast. The restaurant itself was a bit loud and it's a very casual ambiance. Overall, I am not sure I would return. I would probably check out some other burger restaurants in the area next time. read more

Service: slow. Seem to have plenty of workers fliting around, but hostess wasn't clear or forthcoming while we waited on the table. Waiter brought drinks and took our order. We did not get our food until 40 minutes later. Young waiter was apologetic, but no explanation for slow service. Food was not worth the money or wait. A 3% surcharge was added to use a credit card. The establishment is on a busy road with high ceilings- very noisy and echoey. Staff should be instructed to speak louder and be clear with instructions. Had the create your own burger, asked for smashed burger ( smashed flat with crispy marks from griddle), sadly it was not a smashed patty. Was a regular sized patty, and then condiments and adding were all over the place sloppy and thrown on. Presentation was not great and flavors needed help. They have skinny fries which were good but served lukewarm versus hot. Which with only a few tables in service this day, should have come out screaming hot. But again food did not, lukewarm at its best. I think this place should have stayed closed today versus being open. Or they were hung over from the weekend since this place is in a college town. Grill Marks was pretty good! I mean, it wasn't the greatest food I've ever had, but it was definitely above average. The chicken tenders were good, but the fries were great! I also loved how they give you two (2) pieces of bread with your meal, as that's a nice touch. The ambiance was pretty cool, as it lives up to its name as being a "sophisticated burger joint." I went around lunchtime, and it indeed seems like a great place to grab a bite to eat for lunch. I didn't order a milkshake, but I saw some of the ones that the other customers ordered, and they looked delicious! The margarita was pretty solid as well, and is one of the better ones I've gotten at similar restaurants. Finally, the bartender (I believe her name was either Joanna or Johanna) was an absolute sweetheart and a stud! She did an excellent job! We attempted to eat at this location on Sat. We drove down from Greenwood for a good GF dining experience. We have previously eaten and was impressed at the Greenville location. We were more than disappointed this time. We were told by the host and our server everything on the menu was GF. We k new this to not be the case. When we tried to inquire about particular items of concern another server thank goodness stepped in and corrected our server. We ordered loaded fries with Gzf Adaptation and the beer burger also with GF Adaptation. Our food took over 40 min to get to us. Our service was terrible , actually nonexistent as he was too busy playing on his phone and socializing to be bother by us. When our food came the GF items were NOT made to order. We asked to see the manager. She took her time to see us and then made excuses for our food being made wrong, excuses for the servers lack of attentiveness etc. But never did she apologize. Pretty solid bar and grill serving up a wide selection of enhanced burgers, fried munchables and milkshakes. Our server was personable, chatty, and generally on top of it. I had a bacon cheeseburger with fried pickles and both met expectations. Portions were generous and sides are large enough to share. Decent selection of draft beer. This was my 2nd time back but I'm afraid this may have been my absolute LAST! While most up front, far as the hostess and servers were trying their very best to accommodate this was a FAILED dining experience compared to our first when visiting the area. The wait was over 45 minutes, due to the kitchen We were told. Once sat, we ordered immediately but still had a lengthy wait time for our food order. We figured no huge deal, NOT! The food was lukewarm in spite of waiting as long as we did and requesting items to be served well done. We suffered with the lukewarm beyond burgers. I insisted that my $5 Parmesan fries be remade and arrive hot and not lukewarm. After almost finishing my lukewarm, horrible burger, the server returned with soggy, greasy and very limped fries! After asking to have this removed, as they were not even edible, we were double charged for my entree. Again of which I did NOT enjoy. The check was finally corrected though. The most decent thing was the to go shakes but way OVERPRICED! Then in the to go cups the almost $7 shakes were half mass and then topped with over whipped cream! It was whipped so much, it was almost BUTTER! We had more of the over whip cream than shake! Nonetheless, $80 plus tip for mediocre impossible burgers and inedible fries and half of cup of shakes and no refills on soft drink with excessive waiting for EVERYTHING, we will have to pass for all future visits! Came here again with the wifie and still keep running into issues. They had advertised $.99 wings however when we went to order we were told they only had 20 left but they would not honor the advertised price. If they sold out I would understand but to tell the customer we will charge full price for what we have left while still having the sign with the specials out is misleading and wrong. The last part was the water glass had something on the outside that should have been spotted before bringing it out to the table. Grills marks is the perfect stop for a burger in Columbia. One of the few places that has milkshakes good enough to top the burgers! The atmosphere is casual, clean, and the service is great. Recently tried Grill Marks with some work colleagues during lunch. The setting was that of an upscale bar, with ample indoor and covered outdoor seating. Despite the absence of other patrons, it took nearly two hours for three of us to be served. Staff was a bit inattentive and abrasive and food was less than memorable. My colleagues both ordered burgers ($16-18) and both said that burgers were overcook and that the fries tasted as though they had been lingering in oil for hours. A bunch of my official friends and I came here after a roller derby event an hour and 45 mins before Grill Marks closed at 11pm on a Friday night. The hostess tells us the kitchen is closed for orders in the restaurant. Keep in mind the Grill Marks web site doesn't tell you they stop seating people two hours before close, not that they would notice because most of the staff was at the bar drinking instead of serving customers. We all ordered take out and it took forever to come out and of our five orders three were totally wrong and when we mentioned this the bartender told us the kitchen was closed and we could get a refund, "if we wanted to make a big deal about our burgers." We went next door to Jimmy John's and left the food. It stinks because this is a nice place on the inside and the food can be tasty but it's a perfect example of why you don't open a million dollar facility then staff it with kids who want to party more than serve and make money. read more

We got the loaded fries for our app and they were very tasty. My husband got the hangover burger and I ordered a smash burger, both were fantastic. I ordered the Key Lime shake which wasn't very good. I didn't get any lime flavor but instead it tasted like bubble gum. I handed it to my husband and told him that and asked what he thought. My husband is one of those guys who has no problem telling me if I'm wrong but he actually agreed and said he tasted bubble gum too. He got the chips ahoy shake and he enjoyed it. They have everything you'd expect from a burger joint plus their own spin on epic milkshakes (including alcoholic ones). What really puts Grill Marks on the map for me is the milk shakes. They have some seriously epic milk shakes including these amazing "beer shakes". You really have to stop in a try one. Burger wise they have solid selection and the build your own has some interesting choices. The prices at Grill Marks are extremely competitive. This was such an awful experience. I couldn't catch the name of our waitress as she whispered a good chunk of our interaction, and my husband tossed the receipt but she was a younger African American woman with her industrial pierced. If you can't handle being double sat on what we perceived as a relatively slow afternoon, then maybe this isn't the profession for you. It took 15 minutes to get acknowledged, and then 20 minutes for her to bring our drinks out. Mind you we gave her our entire order at the same time, so maybe that was our mistake. Forgot the beers, and got lost looking for it. We got nachos as an appetizer and the appetizer came out luke warm maybe 15-20 minutes after we got drinks. But the kicker? Our food came out 10 minutes after that at different intervals and my husband's chicken sandwich was cold. He didn't care to send it back as we'd have to probably wait another hour. I got the French connection and wasn't impressed. It came warm and the roasted garlic was fairly unpleasant. They also lied, their corn chowder was not the best I've ever had, nor did it come close. Our waitress barely came to check in on us and we had to grab her attention for refills. She got lost doing who knows what, perhaps chit chatting with the host, and so we were sitting there staring at each other waiting for our bill to come.
