We lucked out and were seated quickly. Our server greeted us right away with water to the table. We ordered our fried calamari appetizer and it came out right away which was great since the restaurant was very busy. It was delicious. She then took our dinner order and it was timed perfectly after our appetizer. The portions are huge! I tried the short rib penne which was delicious. My only note was the amount of pearl onions in the dish (too much in my opinion). We also ordered NY strip and filet mignon. They were done perfectly and had wonderful flavor. The food is terrible . This is my second time in and I won't go back . I had the "stone" burger and it was raw in the middle even though I ordered it medium . Hey whatever , these things happen from time to time . They cooked it a little more and brought it back with their apologies . But it was terrible . Really terrible . The outside was now burned , and it was so salty I couldn't finish it . The second trip was as bad as the first trip . That together with the bartender (I ate at the bar) who, both times i was there , did not seem to care about customer service at all and was largely despondent, I have to rate this place low . My cousin and I decided to try the Sunday buffet here because they have snow crabs. I was worried it would be jam packed but we were pleasantly surprised to actually get a seat with no problems. Our waiter Rob was very attentive and friendly so no problem with the service. It was a nice buffet however a few things could have been better. The crabs which were our main reason for coming had no flavor. But were hot. You cannot help yourself which makes you feel a little sheepish asking for seconds. I tried a few items besides my crabs. The bacon was tasty but fatty, my preference is a little more well done. The penne pasta was ok but there was hardly any sauce on it so it was a little dry for my taste. Shrimp was fresh, salad was awesome and the fruit was sweet. I tried this little chocolate cake that was delicious. You also get a complimentary Mimosa which was very nice. My cousin had I think it was brisket but it was dry. She had the crabs as well and felt they had no flavor either. The sauté vegetables were good. We also had the chicken Marsala which wasn't bad but it tasted like it was dredged in too much flour. We didn't get to try the other items. Mostly your typical brunch foods. I came out of my way to try this place since I've heard of it opening. The look of the place is very nice and modern, however our server seemed in a rush as soon as we came in on a Thursday night. Ordered fried calamari as an appetizer which tasted good for the minute we had it. Not even two minutes passed and our entrees were out, not giving us time to even finish a simple appetizer! This is where it gets worse- my boyfriend ordered the Seafood Pasta, which is suppose to look at least appetizing. However, the sauce was dried out and the few pieces of fettuccine were stiff and uncooked! As you bit into it, you could actually see the uncooked pasta in the middle. Also, you could taste nothing but salt! A little salt is okay, but this tasted as if it was poured into it all! My meal, the short rib ravioli, was not as bad but was also very salty and cold in the middle. At this point, no manager or our server was in sight through the entire meal. OMG What a train wreck. I gave this place another chance because I went there when it first opened, sat at the bar, the bartenders were unorganized and inexperienced. It took the bartender at least 15 minutes to even come over to us and I had to send my food back because it was cold. So I figured I will give this place some time to get it together. So yesterday Met my friends there at 6pm. We stood for 10 minutes waiting for the host to show up to check us in. The place wasn't crowded at all. We finally was seated. The waiter came and bought us some water. I asked for a straw. It took him 10 minutes to bring us straws. He then took our orders. We waited and waited and waited 30 minutes went by, no waiter and no food. One of the bar tenders walked by so we asked her can she find our waiter, she rolled her eyes and went to find him. He finally came. We asked him what happened to our food and the excuse was the kitchen is behind on orders. We waited another 10 minutes then finally the food came. My burger (the Minnesota juicy Lucy) was much smaller than the bun. Asked for ketchup, again the waiter went missing in action so we had to get a bottle of ketchup from the bar. The fries were Okay. The burger was so bland. My drink tasted better than the food. The waiter never came to check on us at all. As soon as we were able to pay and leave, my tummy started rumbling. I rushed home. There is a lot of talk in the neighborhood about this restaurant. It is very nice an clean and but the service is slow. Boneless wings were good but the taquitos were very bland. There was a miss communication with my order. I asked for a plain cheese burger and said no lettuce, tomato or onions. The waiter was walking away from me and didn't hear the onions so my burger showed up with onions and pickles. I asked for plain and we waited a very long time for our food and twice as long for them to come back with my new burger. The worst thing was the manager tried to make excuses for the kitchen as to why it took so long. He started by asking me why I didn't like pickles...I don't think I should have to explain why I don't like something. Then he said because I asked for medium well that it would take 15 to 20 minutes...REALLY??? All he did was make excuses and not own it. After that I was going to give 2 stars because most of the food was ok. But I am changing to 1 star because finally the manger came back and said I'm sorry but your food allergy caused us to have to re make your burger. So effectively he blamed me for the slow kitchen. I had high hopes for this place. The menu looked good online and I liked the modern atmosphere. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar for dinner, which we prefer over a table. This time that was a mistake. There were 2 young ladies and a young guy bar tending. The guy was complaining about a regular customer tipping the girls more than him. We then got to hear about their drunken antics of the night before as they talked loudly to one another and did not pay attention to the customers. When we asked for advice on what to order we got no clear answer which just confused us more. One of the bartenders did not know how to make an espresso martini and the guy said he would do it and sort of complained about it instead of showing the other bartender so she would know for next time. It was just such an unprofessional atmosphere. We spent the whole time wondering if there was a bar manager or restaurant manager in the place. No one seemed to be in charge or paying attention. We ended up getting appetizers and a sandwich which were ok, but not worth the money. My $14.99 glass of Pinot noir was also not worth the money. I didn't get a second drink because of the price of the first one. I do not think we will be back. The level of professionalism of the bartenders needs to be addressed. read more

I went to this restaurant about a month ago and I was honestly not truly impressed. I got the special which included a soup or salad, an appetizer and a entrée for a fixed price. My soup was a French onion and it was tasty and hot as it should be, the appetizer was a fried mozzarella which was also great, but the entrée left something to be desired. I got some kind of chicken skewer with rice and vegetables, but The chicken was something that I could easily make at home and was a bit dry. The rice was atrocious as it was very dry so it was inedible. The green beans were very hard like they were undercooked, so I have no idea what exactly happened. We did say that our food wasn't the best, so as compensation we got a free vegetable to take home and there was no comps no nothing. I didn't get an extra vegetable because at that time I was convinced what I got was going to be horrible. It wasn't till later we realized that everything was horribly overpriced and totally wasn't worth it. I would recommend this place as a quick place to grab a beer with friends, as the appetizers and beer were great. As far as entrées, there needs to be some work done. Unfortunately I doubt I will return to this location ever, regardless of the good points. They should focus on small plates and the bar setting. read more

Grillstone has been such a great place to dine- and now even with Covid, they are still going strong. GREAT drink selections. Service is always excellent and the place is very clearn. Social Distance seating is good and you never feel crowded in. The menu is diverse and we are never disappointed! Sushi menu has great signature rolls as well as Takati Salad. Our favorite roll is Old Bridge Roll. Delicious! Sometimes we order 2. I often get a salad with salmon to keep it healthy. But we have also enjoyed their burgers - one of the best we have had, and they have a great turkey burger. My Dad will get braised beef ravioli and sometimes he orders from the Raw bar. Portions are generous too. Again- the drinks are generous and their bartenders provide interesting options. Thanks Grillstone! I've been here a few times now and I have to say your best bet is going on a Sunday when the buffet is on. It's a nice diversified array of food and there should be something for everyone. My complaint is when I came on a Saturday night. I didn't realize at the time that the buffet was a Sunday only deal. We stayed anyway but we were really disappointed. We both ordered some kind of pasta dish with either brisket or pulled pork (can't recall which) but it was just bland. But what was really weird is that some guy with a beard from the kitchen brought one of the entrees out when we had just gotten our appetizers. It sat there getting cold because we weren't ready for it and he should have seen we had just received our appetizers. Then the other entree came out a full 20 minutes later. Went there for the first time last night, it will likely be my last visit. Great decor, good menu selection and specials but the service was something else. We were a group of 4, we sat down for dinner at about 8pm. It took a long time for our server Kelly to come over to greet us in a half empty restaurant. After we finally get our drinks, we order an appetizer and 4 entrees, which Kelly does not write down...after some time we get our app and three entrees. It wasn't until prodded did Kelly state that the burger would be right. She had forgotten the 4th entree but instead of admitted that she hid in the kitchen until a burger could be made. Problem was, she brought out the wrong burger and when questioned she tried to tell the table it was the correct burger. She finally brings the wrong plate back to the kitchen where they blatantly repurpose the wrong sandwich and bring it back to the table. At this point it's a cold burger with the cheese scraped off on a new bun. Never once did Kelly admit she forgot the entree or apologize. When we asked to speak to a manager regarding the burger, Allen came to the table as nothing had happened and only took half off the burger. His response "She did finally get you the right burger?" As a customer service manager this was appalling and quite honestly the restaurant as new as it is should be reconsidering their staff! read more

We went in Saturday afternoon, being that the weather was nice we wanted to sit outside. The place was dead yet there was only one clean table to choose from. The waiter had horrible customer service skills. No hello and no explanation of the menu/specials. We ordered a vodka-seltzer and a vodka-club. The waiter confirmed the order with "ok two vodka-seltzers" I noted again that I wanted club and he insisted the two were the same thing. Maybe they have ONLY one or the other there, but you cant tell me they are the same thing lol. We get our drinks and order food. I ordered sushi and my bf ordered a Margarita flatbread. While waiting I overheard another waiter telling his table they were out of flat-breads. We said to each other, "oh nice we must have gotten the last one". Nope, the "flatbread" came out as a round thin crust pie with runny tomato paste and about three circles of mozzarella cheese, no tomatoes and no basil. My bf took one bite and said it was literally inedible. We asked the waiter what happened and he said "oh its a bar pie cause were out of flat bread". It would have been nice to be told like the other guests were. We've never sent back food but there was no way we were paying $11 for that. We asked for the check and left. There was no apology and no check in from the manager. The place is overpriced as it is. Definitely wont be back and I think Brandon should find a different occupation, customer service doesn't seem to be his forte. read more

A little disappointed with this place given it's a neighborhood restaurant we frequent pretty often. Like the last few times we've come, the music inside was way too loud - so loud we couldn't have a decent conversation with the hostess. Party of 6, we initially asked for an outdoor table and were told there was nothing available. When we spotted one available we went back in to ask the hostess if we could be seated there and she said sure. As we were waiting for the table to be set, she seated another party while we watched. And we had to approach her to see what the issue was. She prefaced the whole conversation by saying that the manager is "over there" and that he made her do it. Which makes me feel like no one knows what's going on. Shame because no one made us feel welcome or like we were wanted. We would have gladly sat inside had the music been a little lower. All in all kind of a bust and felt super inhospitable. This party of 6 will be bringing there business somewhere else. read more

I've only visited this restaurant once, but it goes without saying that I will probably not be coming back. My girlfriend and I had arrived at around 6:45pm (this is important later) and were seated right by the kitchen. The hostesses saw our expressions and knew we were unhappy with our seating, so we were moved to another area of the restaurant. Our waitress, Dawn, was very impersonable and rude throughout the meal -- she didn't even introduce herself! We had ordered a bar pie and 2 spicy tuna rolls from the happy hour menu, which runs from 3pm to 7pm, and an order of avocado toast. Dawn didn't seem very happy that we were only ordering those items. She was very pushy and repeatedly asked us if we were going to order anything else when checking in on us. We had finished our food and received the check, however we were charged full price for our food even though we had ordered from the happy hour menu, which had reduced prices. The time on our receipt said 7:01pm, which is simply false. I'm under the impression she put it in at 7:01pm on purpose so that our food would be rung up as full price, even though we were given the happy hour menu upon arrival and explicitly ordered from it. We had called a hostess over and explained the issue, to which Dawn came over shortly after to make the corrections. We saw her very clearly flustered and talking about us to a coworker when fixing the check. Our dinner experience was severely diminished by the lack of good service. The food was ok. read more
