My family and I had reservations for dinner on Christmas Eve at 7PM. At 1:30 PM on the same day I received a phone call from the hostess saying they could not accommodate our reservation since they are closing at 7PM. Our reservation was made 6 days in advance, but they felt it was ok to cancel the same day on a holiday. Something is Missing We'd previously ordered Grillestone to-go through Doordash, and enjoyed our meal enough that we were interested in checking out the restaurant one day. This past weekend, we did just that, and were a bit disappointed with the results. The interior of the restaurant was very nice, and it appeared very clean. The atmosphere was appealing, and we were instantly greeted by an enthusiastically friendly hostess who sat us at a high-top table in the bar room. At first glance of the menu, I thought the prices were quite high for what this restaurant offers, but I aligned my expectations accordingly for the food. Our party ordered a Smokehouse Burger, cooked Medium, and a Roasted Beet salad. The salad was good. The mandarin oranges seemed a bit out of place, and the shrimp could have been served hotter than they were as they tasted at room-temperature, though the flavor was good, and the rest of the salad was prepared well. For its price, however, it definitely seemed to be lacking. The Smokehouse Burger was much more disappointing. On first bite, I could instantly tell the burger was very overcooked, much more on the well-done side than Medium, with zero pinkness anywhere to be found. The burger was also served with a "bacon jam", which I swore was missing from the burger. After speaking with our waitress, who was very pleasant, it turns out the "jam" was essentially bacon grease and butter with bacon bits in it. There was nothing jam-my about this. To double-check myself, I searched online to see what "jam" should be, and it was the opposite of whatever was served on this burger. Though the onion rings served with my burger were great, the overcooked meat combined with the awful "jam" would ensure I would never order a burger from here again. With all that said, I think this restaurant has strong potential. As I previously mentioned, the restaurant itself had a great vibe to it, and was well kept. The service was good enough, and the food really only missed in its preparation. There are too many other great options in the area, however, for me to recommend Grillestone, particularly at their current pricing schedule. With no other options in the area, if I were looking for something close by that was quick, I might give it another shot, but would hesitate to do so and would really only return as a last resort. read more

I know some have complained about service, food, etc. I had the distinct pleasure of dining there today for lunch, even tho they technically were not open for lunch just yet. Two of us wandered in and got fed. They are under new management and compiling a staff to serve patrons on Monday (9/18/2023). The hamburger and fries were AWESOME - some of the best I've ever had and I love hamburgers. They have waffle and string fries - we got one of each and had both (shared) - was super delicious. The inside is nicely set up - a far cry 110% better than the minimal bar type setting it was 15 years or so ago. Remember folks, the pandemic caused people to not want to work, places had to shut down, people were afraid. Give the GrilleStone another chance soon and you might be pleasantly surprised. I know I was - it was really terrific to feel like we reserved the restaurant for ourselves and get served when they were not open. I will return when they are "open" and hope to see others there too. Also, keep in mind when you eat at a place, remember to tell the Manager/Owner what you like/how they could improve - the objective is to keep people open, employed and in business...a lot of good it does society if we've no places to eat out at. Husband was working late so a girlfriend and i decided to go out to dinner. I've passed this place a million times but she suggested it so I figured what the heck. It was a beautiful 70 degree Thursday evening and the patio was empty aside from a table with a bunch of loud and rambunctious kids running back and forth. I'm not even going to comment on her meal because she liked everything. The menu is a menagerie of American food with a whole sushi menu on the back. I had a mango mojito that was served in a rock glass, it was all mint-no mango flavor, i don't even think there was simple syrup in the glass. I started with lobster bisque of which had ZERO lobster in it, its was simply cream soup that they probably fished the lobster out of to use in something else. Nothin really caught my eye so i went for the prime rib, for 40 dollars it was prepared well enough. It came with an Au jus. All sides are a la carte (like this was a fancy steakhouse or something) I ordered the whipped potatoes and creamed spinach. The potatoes were dense and had this weird after taste like sour cream or cream cheese was mixed in. The creamed spinach was like soup. It fell through the fork, it also tasted like it was something prepackaged and wasn't enjoyable. I took 90% of the meal home because my husband will eat anything. The waitress was attentive but not overbearing, which is the way i like it. I never went inside but the patio was nice enough with a large firepit that they lit as we were leaving. In short, the service was good, The ambiance was decent and the food was just okay. The bill came to $165 with tip...Yes $165.00, this place is way overpriced. I wont be returning. read more

I came here on a Thursday to grab happy hour with a friend. (I only sat outside so I could only get pictures outside) Their patio is beautiful it is close to 516 but if you really want to sit outside and have a drink this is the place to go. The one thing I love about happy hour here is that they have $5 sushi. It's not the best sushi I had but it did its job and filled me up! The drinks were delicious and made to perfection. I had a shared some mozzarella sticks with my friend and they were just mouth watering they were so good. The staff here weren't the friendliest and they did mess up my order a little bit but it wasn't a big deal. At the end of my visit I found that the stuff were huddled off to the side of that patio and I can here all of them complaining about their jobs and their shifts. I gave this place a 4/5 because I think the staff could put in a little more effort but the drinks were delicious. read more

The food is overpriced and subpar. I ordered a steak and it arrived (very) well done, despite asking for medium, and the steak itself was 50% fat and clearly not high quality. I had to explain to the waitress how to make the drink that I ordered - not her fault, she came back to ask because the bartender did not know how to make this (it's a common drink). Appetizers were probably the best part of the meal, although expensive. The service was great and ambience was far better than the food. Has potential, but ultimately the basics (food and drink in a restaurant) fall far short of expectations, and you can have a far better meal for less money. read more

Finally got to try this spot. Ever since the place opened, the wait time to get a table was approx. two hours. Now that the hype went down, we got to try the place out. The food and service was good. My son's skirt steak was over cooked, but they corrected it immediately. The manager came over and personally apologized and offered a free dish. We used it for dessert. My biggest complaint, though, was the prices. They were higher than we expected. Would we come back? Yes, but probably not with the whole family. The atmosphere was modern and fun, our waiter was AMAZING we are a young crowd of 4 and when we asked about the potatoes gratin his words were I love them there are "off the hook" we enjoyed that instead of hearing your standard restaurant talk of "yes there are really good" everything was good we had the calamari and chicken wings(half buffalo/half a dry rub chipotle) perfection- we had 2 bottles of wine with the option of taking whatever was left home with us ( ) dinner portions were HUGE steaks were cooked perfectly the pork chop was delicious with sautéed mushrooms all over I was craving sushi the spicy tuna roll and triple play roll tasted fresh!!! Should've had a third roll!!! They have a privet room for private events will definitely consider them and will DEFINITELY BE BACK- can't wait for summer for outside seating!!!! Ambience: typical sports bar, really cold inside, had to wear my coat the whole time. Service: SLOW... Took way too long to get our apps. The dinner came out 1 min later after apps.. Really? Server did not take our old plates and they sat the whole dinner. Food: pretty good sushi, too much rice for me. Fresh fish. Tap water was discussing, smelled and tasted really gross. Prices are a bit more than I would pay for a typical sushi with lots of rice and service. Overall the place is just OK. Not impressed. It might survive one year since they opened just now, but don't think it will last. read more

1) When I first walked in, there was a very ripe smell to the restaurant. 2) I ordered Happy Hour specials...spicy tuna roll and Avacado toast. Both were very good. 3) Draft beers were good. 4) Received the check and was being charged full price, although it was happy hour. A newer bartender adjusted the food and handed me back the check....But never adjusted the price for the happy hour beer. Once again adjusted the price. Bartender stated Happy Hour used to start at 4, but now at 2:00pm, but their system hasn't yet been updated for the 2:00pm Happy hour yet. 5) Noticed a lot of dust up high (Speakers and HVAC vents) 6) brought this up to management. He was annoyed, but at least listened. His mistake was saying yes, I am aware of the smell, but that's Old Bridge...that's what Old Bridge smells like! Wrong answer! Who in their right mind would say such a thing! He went on saying they have spent 15k on correcting plumbing issues, but apparently there is still some plumbing issues. 7) Recommendation to Grillstone: you have a bunch of beer on tap, Display a beer menu on paper, a TV by the bar or a chalkboard...this will save the consumer and your employees a bunch of time. 8) Finally, I learned the place is under new ownership and management, so I'll definitely give it another try. Had a fantastic first experience at Grillestone's new location in Old Bridge. I was familiar with their restaurant in Union County and I knew the food and atmosphere would be good. This experience confirmed it. Tonight I enjoyed their clams fra diavolo appetizer, their pan seared scallops entree, and their warm apple crumble a la mode. Out of the three, the entree killed it. I absolutely loved this dish and it has become one of my all time favorites in just one night (see picture). The scallops were cooked perfectly, fresh, and they were served over a creamed corn sauce which added a wonderful, sweet flavor. The asparagus was cooked to perfection also. Sometimes I get a weird aftertaste with asparagus but not even close here. The overall texture and taste were balanced well. Also, they didn't go light on the mashed potatoes with bacon. What a pairing with scallops as they complimented each other well. Incredible meal. 10/10. I will almost certainly need to have this again. Second to that was the dessert. It was served a bit differently than I am used to, with the vanilla ice cream on the side rather than on top of a volcanically hot apple pie slice. This made it a little less fun to eat but I still enjoyed the taste as it was perfectly sweet and I didn't have to worry about ice cream melting too quick. Finally, the clams fell a little short of great (probably settle on calling them good). They were doused in a red sauce (as fra diavolo should be) and the app included a piece of garlic bread / Texas toast. Next time I may opt for their nachos instead as I saw another couple nearby digging into a massive mountain of chips, cheese, jalapeños and more! My guests, wife and I were literally shocked to see how big their nachos dish looked. The atmosphere and design to this location is unique and not a total copy of their other restaurant (see pic). In fact, I kind of like it a little better. They had a poppin' nightlife going on with people at their bar inside and hanging out on their patio. Their beer selection seems good with a nice mix of crafts and domestics. In summation, I very much enjoy this place and can't wait to come back! Check it out! read more

I've been here a few times now and I absolutely love the food and the drinks. I haven't had a bad dish yet. Neither has the people that I've come with. We would all order something different so we could try it all. The prices are a few dollars more than most places, but it's worth it and you will leave stuffed. They have daily/weekly specials and are worth it, if you are starving. The presentation of the food is a nice touch as well. And all the staff that I have interacted with were polite and made me feel welcome. Heck a lot of them will joke around with you! PS: the bar can get packed real quick. I went here a week ago because the pictures of this place on Instagram made it look really appealing: both atmosphere and food/drink wise. Pros: 1) Well spaced out seating: each table was at least 6 feet away from another table and each table had its own umbrella instead of what many outdoor restaurants are doing nowadays by lumping everyone together under one white tent 2) the peach fishbowl cocktail drink was one of the tastiest cocktails I've ever had without them skimping on the alcohol content 3) They didn't play super loud music so I could have a conversation with my friend and we could hear each other Cons: 1) The food was overpriced in my opinion because it was neither a large portion to make up for the price point nor was it that good in taste (I got the truffle pasta and fries for reference) 2) the individual fishbowl cocktail drink was overpriced because even though it was really tasty they filled half of it with ice so there wasn't that much of the actual drink. Maybe next time I should ask for no ice so I get what I pay for 3) There was no dessert menu and I'm not sure if that was because of covid but usually restaurants have at least some option. Overall: if you want to eat outside with good social distancing in place definitely check this place out but be careful with what you choose to order! Been here a couple of times since they opened and so far most experiences have been great! Lunch specials are a great value and include a soup or salad with the entrée. Dinners are great and wait staff has been super friendly and awesome. All the apps have been delicious as well - wings, firecracker shrimp, truffle fries, etc. The weekly specials are great - martini Mondays have $3 martinis! Can't beat that! The reason for dropping a star is for a pretty under-whelming experience when calling in a pick-up order. The person taking the order on the phone was very clearly confused and had a lot of trouble understanding my order. She told me it would take 15-20 minutes and it actually took 45 minutes, plus once I actually got it - it was missing the salads that should have been included. Hoping that this was just one time issue and it will get better as the staff gets more comfortable. Definitely planning on giving them many more chances! read more

I have to be honest, we came here at a friends recommendation and this was just bad.... really bad. I ordered the wings and the crab cakes. I thought to myself, new spot I'll play it safe and just order wings since that's impossible to mess up.. apparently it's rocket science. These wings were terrible.... we really got served up some refrigerated Tyson's boneless wings. Gross, you bite into it it's half meat half breading? No thanks. Don't even order the crab cakes, it's just crab that's been sitting in a freezer for a month. Our first time here and we only live 6 miles away. The outdoor patio is nice but doesn't seat many tables. So me and my 5 year old son opted to sit at the fire pit. It took almost 10 minutes for someone to realize no one even acknowledged us, the only attentive server with a smile on her face also. Food is OK. Sushi has too much rice around it. We were in the area looking for a brunch spot after our initial location had quite the wait time. When we walked in it was a little past 11 so they had just opened but everything was already set up for their buffet brunch that had quite the spread of options. However we decided to just order off the normal menu for food. My friend and I both got the turkey burger that came with a choice of regular, sweet potato or truffle fries! It was served with a side of spinach which was super salty. I told the waitress and she immediately asked me if I wanted a new one without the extra salt.
