This is a review of their take-out option. Food here is top notch, I'm a huge fan. But when it comes to takeout this place is a disaster. Expect your order to not be ready at the designated time. Even worse, half your order will be ready and getting cold while the other half is still being prepared. I thought I'd give this place a third chance at takeout after a year and I'm getting skunked again. Tonight the pizzas are ready but the salad took an extra 25 minutes past the pickup time, so I guess we have cold pizza to look forward to when we get home. :( read more

When I walked in, the place was uncomfortably hot. it made sitting inside pretty miserable. My pizza order was messed up the first time, and they didn't inform us about the issue until the second one was already finished, so we ended up waiting much longer than expected. Unfortunately, the remake wasn't much better, it was overly saucy and more like soup than pizza. While our server was friendly, the service overall wasn't great. No one ever checked on us, and I sat with an empty cup the entire time. Disappointing experience all around. read more

It's great if business is going well, sorry if you're short staffed but don't publish order processing times that are way off. Surprised! And that was an understatement! Not a pizza aficionado, but my wife is. While in the area we decided for a quick bite at Grimaldi's. First impressions are not always good, as it was for us when we saw the considerably small selection of their offerings. The Margarita was somewhat mild, the Basil Mojito was pretty good - but very lackluster cocktails needing a good deal of improvement. We had a Caprese Salad that had a lot to be desired of - under ripe tomatoes, tasteless mozzarella cheese and a very weak balsamic vinaigrette emulsion. But when the pizzas came, Wow, a whole different story! Both our 12" pizzas were excellent. She experienced a fantastic Traditional with sausage, tomato, mushrooms, red onion and basil - excellent. I decided on a white pizza (one of my few faves), that was a Wow too! The pizza included artichoke, mushrooms & prosciutto. It seems they use an excellent Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, the perfect amount of oregano, and the olive oil must be from someplace really good! Griimaldi's view and expression of crispy crust is fantabulous. Again, I was pleasantly surprised, and satisfied - and it won't be our last visit. I usually don't eat pizza, but when I do it's Grimaldi's. And lately it's been frequent pizza meals. I even will eat the crust because the pizza is that good! Some pizza places don't always have a great crust. Any pizza you order from here, you can't go wrong with it. The crust isn't too thick or too thin. Lots of options available. So I don't feel too guilty eating half of a 16-inch pizza if I'm really hungry. It's got a nice crunch and chew with each bite. The amount of cheese, sauce, and toppings are perfect. My current favorite pizza I would recommend is the Brooklyn Bridge: Italian sausage, ricotta cheese, and oven roasted red peppers! Yummy! Don't forget to save room for dessert. I'm so happy that we have Grimaldi's in Arizona! I used to live in AZ but normally live in Brooklyn, home of the original Grimaldi's. I've been staying with my parents for several months because of the pandemic, and have been missing some of my favorite New York pizza joints. Luckily, I have one of them here. I've been to this location in person and it's great, spacious, and has very friendly service. I also got delivery yesterday so I've experienced it in both ways. The pizza here is absolutely delicious! It's always very well-made, the dough/crust is of a great consistency, and they have some seriously good combinations. Yesterday we ordered The Don which has pepperoni, sausage, and meatballs. We also got the prosciutto arugula, a delicious white pizza, and added ricotta on top. Pro tip: always add ricotta here!!! My favorite of the two was the prosciutto arugula but frankly both were delicious. Probably my favorite pizza spot in the area, and the Scottsdale location is great too. read more

Let's start with the positive: the food was delicious. It was not as good as the pizza I had in Milan, but it was the best pizza I've had in Arizona. The crust was thin with a nice crunch. The tomato sauce was flavorful and several steps above the jar I use at home. The cheese on the margarita pizza was melted instead of large discs you see at other pizza restaurants. So, why 3 stars? The price. We got a 12 in pizza, half the Don, half margarita. A 12" Don is $21. A 12 in Margarita is $15. We were charged $25, before tax. Why? Well, we were charged $21 for the pizza, as if the whole pizza had the more expenses toppings of the Don. Then we were charged another $4 for asking for half of the pizza to be different. We were not told there was an extra charge for dividing the pizza, and were taken aback when we got the bill. I have never been to a pizza place that charges more simply because the pizza is divided. If we had known, we would have gotten only one kind of pizza (or just eaten somewhere else). Something that did detract from the experience but wasn't a big enough deal for it to change my rating of the restaurant, was that the waiter kept saying "us" and "we" instead of you (plural) or y'all. "What can I get for us?" he asked. I'm hoping it was a weird personal quirk of this waiter rather than a mandate from management, because it was weird. Overall: The food was really good. Just ask about the price when you order to avoid any surprises. read more

Me and my daughter went here a few years ago and had the worst pizza of life. The pizza tastes like cardboard and the pepperoni tasted like cheap hormel. When the waitress asked us how we liked the pizza I said I ate a couple pieces just cause I was really hungry but it was the worse pizza I have ever had and that's even lower than Little Ceasars pizza. Oh first off like to start saying I've passed by this place many many many of times always wanted to go and never really gave myself the opportunity to. So this time we finally decided to stop in. One of the best pizza places I have eaten in a while. I loved the food was on point. It's all made freshly right in front of usually you can see the chefs which I love it's great the pizza calzone and salad tasted great best calzone. I have eaten in a very long time. Scott, that great Brookhaven taste to it little charger in the crust. Phenomenal. Remind me of New York. And the ambience in the place was nice you could hear chatter the music was up, but not too loud. Tori could still comfortably talk to each other and also just being able to watch the chefs was great for me. I really liked that experience. And the service was great. I was able to offer opinions on certain foods and drinks, and I really like when a waiter waitress can do that. So all in all great experience. Looking forward to coming back soon. read more

We called on a Wednesday afternoon to see if they take reservations for large parties since there'd be eight of us around 5:30 that evening. We were told they don't, which is fine. We just wanted to make sure. We then mentioned that we'd probably just do the Yelp feature that let's you call ahead. She responded that Grimaldi's doesn't do that anymore. That seemed weird since we can see it as an active button, but okay. It'll be a wait, that's fine. She assured us it would not be long on Wednesday. Cool, we thought. Now, here's the thing: it was my husbands birthday and his parents are habitual very early. They had already been seated when we arrived. Sounds good, right? We get to the table and it is a perplexing sight. The restaurant has decided to (I'm assuming to get as many people into the space as humanly possible) line up a row of 4 tables along the wall, RIGHT along the wall. This meant 2 people at the heads of the table and the other 6 of us all on one side. Who does that??? It was so incredibly awkward! I got to stare at a window that had the shade drawn for the entire meal. I didn't ask for a different table because my in-laws had already accepted it, I didn't want to put a damper on the celebratory vibes and the place was packed. Who knows how long we would have needed to wait in the small vestibule at the front door. The food and service were alright but the experience just sucked so very much. No joke - this year I asked my wife for very specific birthday dinner: A bottle of wine and a large Grimaldi's pizza. It's what I got and I couldn't have been more happy with it. Grimaldi's serves up the wood-fired flavor that I love and plenty of fresh toppings and cheese that make you want to eat until you can't get up. The restaurant itself is lively and open. The bar spans onto the patio. The wine is good. But, really, I'm in it for the pizza! The only downside on toppings is that they don't have pineapple, which I like, but others might say is a good thing. Instead, I load it up with meats, extra cheese, and bell peppers because you need some greens in your life. I've tried a couple appetizers. The bruchetta trio offers a few combinations, with mine being the Classic Tomato & Basil. I felt the other variations were too strong for my taste. If you want something lighter on the palate, give the caprese a go. Come to think of it, one of the biggest perks of Grimaldi's is their birthday special. Sign-up for the free "e-family" subscription and get a coupon for a one-topping 16" pie emailed before your big day. Gave Grimaldi another shot after several years. I am not at all pleased with the pizza that I received. I ordered it to go. I live six minutes away from the restaurant by the time I got home it was ice cold, which doesn't make any sense to me. I was charged eight dollars for toppings. I only got three toppings ham on the whole pizza half of it with pepperoni and mushroom. There was almost no mushrooms on the pizza at all, and barely any ham. I personally don't like thinner crust pizza, but this was great pizza. The sauce is seasoned enough and the cheesy is gooey and well proportioned. I also tried their house salad. Again, it tastes well made and fresh, but not as memorable as the pizza. I've only order to-go, so I don't know the ambience too well. It's in a well trafficked area in the SanTan plaza, so there's always people and it's always busy. What I will say though is to join their rewards. You get a free app for joining and then a free pizza on your birthday. Nice rewards. TLDR; if you're in the area, it's a good spot to eat. Make sure to get the pizza. read more

Grimaldi's is a solid pizza chain in Arizona. This location gets pretty busy, so I try to make a reservation if I'm planning on going during the weekend. We started out with the Mediterranean and Caesar salads. There was a good amount of dressing on both and it was a refreshing start to the carb overload that was about to happen. They serve three different sauce varieties of thin crust pizza, but I always get the traditional because their red sauce is so good. I got the brookyln bridge, which comes with a creamy ricotta topping. Their margarita is also a great choice. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a new pizza joint in AZ! read more

Nice location with outdoor seating and a roll up window to allow those nice weather days to bring in a breeze to the restaurant. Everytime I've been here, the service has been great and food is delicious! Of course we had to order a pizza since its what they're all about. We got the 16 inch pizza with mushrooms to enjoy. The slices are huge, toppings are fresh tasting and the tomato sauce is delicious. I really like how the texture of the crust is crispy and light. Really tasty pizza! They're too thin for my liking, but the taste itself is fine. Between the traditional and white pizza, I much preferred the white pizza since it had more flavor. We sat outside and they were able to set up a heater next to our table since it was a little cold outside at night. The service was quick and our server was friendly! The pizza was thin, and the one we requested to be well done was crispy, the 2 pizzas that were not so much. Asked for extra cheese on one and if it seemed to have the same amount of cheese as the other pizzas. Overall I would say it is very overpriced, mediocre pizza.
