BUT, my husband and I recently took a trip to Paris and I also love pain aux raisins. To our delight, Cafe Bilboquet has those too, so my friend and I each had a small coffee and a pain aux raisins. The pastry was as good as any that my husband and I had in Paris! I've also had lunch here with a couple of other friends in recent months. They have a good variety of pretty authentic French sandwiches and some quiches, eggs, etc. Not inexpensive, but the food is top-notch. You order at the counter, then move up to the cashier, tell them what your order is and pay for it. If you're lucky, as we were around 9:45 this morning, you'll get one of the little round tables where you can sit and chat and relax; in good weather there are some tables outside as well; a lovely boulangerie or patisserie experience!

The espresso drinks are good enough to brave the pandemonium that is ordering/waiting for your beverage, but plan on taking it to go if you come here!

However, the staff was friendly and the overall atmosphere is chill -- we weren't in a rush at all! Sitting at a booth in the back, we had the perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy our meal, making for a lovely brunch with friends or family.

Grind in NYC was a huge disappointment for me. I gave it a 1/5 stars because, despite the fast service and no line, the quality of the coffee was just terrible. I ordered the whipped brown sugar latte, and I couldn't even finish it. The flavor was off, and it just didn't taste fresh at all. It felt like they rushed the process without caring about the end product. Overall, I was really let down and won't be returning anytime soon. I stumbled upon this café what a lucky find! Barista Alessandro made me feel right at home the moment I walked in. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, even offering to show me around the city, which was such a thoughtful gesture for a newcomer like myself. Even better, he gave me a complimentary pastry as a "Welcome to New York" gift it was a small gesture, but it made me so happy. The coffee here is also amazing! Highly recommended! read more
