Not what I expected at all. I just left the bank around the corner and saw this spot sitting alone on the side of the road across from some railroad tracks. It didn't look like much, but I decided to give it a go. When we entered it was empty, and when we left it was empty. We were greeted immediately by our waitress, who took our drink and food order. The decor was typical Mexican décor that you expect to see in any American Mexican restaurant. The restaurant was clean and bright inside. There was a small backroom where the bar was located. It looked like an afterthought built into a hallway. I though it was cool though. The bathroom wasn't anything to special. One bathroom next to the bar that was clean and functional. I was feeling the authenticity. We ordered margaritas that were very good. They didn't have that nasty margarita mix taste. The only negative, they never last long. Why do margaritas seem to have more ice than drink? Just saying. For an appetizer we shared a pork and cheese papusa. It was very good and I loved the grilled flavor. I didn't find any pork in it, but the waitress explained that it is so refined that it's not noticeable. Hummmm? Ok, if you say so. It was good, so I didn't make a fuss about it. After all, what does this gringa know about cooking Mexican food. I only mentioned it because I paid more for pork vs just cheese. I also ordered 2 enchiladas with grounded, black beans and rice. All very good. I cleaned my plate, though I was full long before I finished. I regretted my gluttony for the rest of the day, but I couldn't stop eating. My mother was smarter. She ordered the grilled chicken burrito and cut it in half, taking half home to enjoy the next day for lunch. Great meal from an unassuming restaurant. Goes to show you, never judge a book by it's cover.

I've never been to a restaurant in Mexico but I'm sure they look like gringada. The food was absolutely amazing! Every single food were ordered was delicious. The prices are great too. The staff is very nice too. Showed us the back where they have the karaoke and dance floor.

Def would drive by all the time and wanna check this place out. Well today I did and here's my story jaja..... I'm 1/2 mexican and my abuelita makes the best Mexican so I'm picky. So I can't compare anything to hers as that said it was really good. Ordered carne asada was pretty good, tortillas were fresh and horchata was on point. Had some of my homies tacos pastor yummmm they were better for sure. There's some stuff they can do better like music wasn't playing when I got in....that's a must in a Mexican restaurant and had to wave down waitress for the check but nothing major Side note: I peeked and looks like they are doing an addition... with whole bar and ish so I'm hella excited finally have a pool table and some music near by..def gonna be a regular fo shoooo

Home made tortilla chips and mild spicy salsa. My bueno!

Great service and great food. Unassuming little spot. A hidden gem. The food was seasoned well and tasted authentic. We all enjoyed our food. I ordered Puerco Asada and my Wife ordered the sizzling chicken and steak fajita. We ordered a beef taco for our granddaughter. All were extremely tasty. This is our second time here and we will come back again.

We had worked out and wanted some good marinated meat and i was after the guac. We have always seen this place. The place is small and run down but we did order out and this is one of those hidden treasures . servers very friendly as well. Ordered over the phone and food was ready in 15 mins. We got chicken and steak fajita dishes. Oh best part is all food was only 26 bucks for 2 people.

I'm always searching for a "real" Mexican Restaurant that's not an El Salvadoran restaurant that happens to serve Mexican food. This is a nice find! I had the Mexican Plate with two cheese enchiladas with retried beans. The chile sauce was red sauce (not the brown sauce) and cheese was excellent! I'd recommend this one. Next time I'll have tacos or another plate of enchiladas! Oh another good sign was they serve Horchata and Jamaica to drink. The other was quesadilla instead of Pupusas. So give this hole in wall a try. Ok so one last thing, the waitress was from El Salvador and so are the owners! My hats off to them!!

I've driven by this sketchy looking building 100s of times and dropped in on a whim. It's in the industrial part of Beltsville between the MVA and Laurel, across Route 1 from the railroad tracks near the defunct Ritz Camera. The interior is much like a real cantina; low ceiling with dark wood beams, huge steer horns over the arch into the bar, smallish dining room and a patio out back. The music is just a bit too loud for the ear of a gringo or gringada but typical of Latino joints. Besides the obligatory border style tacos, tamales, enchiladas, chimichangas, and burritos they offer a number of seafood specialties. Given that and the moderate spiciness of the food, I'm guessing the chef's roots are in Baja. I did not try the Margaritas, but they must please a lot of people given the number I saw going by to other tables. They were out of the mole de pavo [turkey in a complex poblano chili and chocolate sauce - that's unsweetened chocolate, it adds richness and a bitter note], so I went for the fajitas rancheros. Before I talk about the main course, I must tune up my guitar and sing the praises of the chips and salsa. The chips were coarse yellow corn, fresh, crisp, oil free, and thick enough to hold up dipping queso or guacamole. Just a bit of alkali and salt would have made them perfect. The salsa was Mexican style, tomatillo based with a bit of onion and cilantro and just a whiff of heat, with enough finely chopped bits to give it an easily dippable [my spell checker doesn't think that's a word, but you figured it out, right?] and the taste made me keep dipping until it was all gone, just as my platter came out. So that's why it's not in the picture :). Fajitas rancheros are cooked in a savory abobo sauce rather than on a sizzling platter, so the meat is a bit more tender although it loses that bit of tasty browning on the edges. Also for some reason it's $4 less than the sizzling version but still a very filling portion. The onion and green pepper strips were perfectly cooked to the cusp of crisp and tender. The accompanying flour tortillas were warm and soft, with enough irregularity to suggest that they were shaped by hands rather than machines. Rice and pureed re-fried beans merited neither praise nor shame. The pico de gallo was properly tangy, and the little scoop of fresh creamy guacamole made me take a mental note to order a big bowl next time. The horchata was just sweet enough not to cloy and if it had been any thicker it would have clogged the straw. The server was kind enough not to laugh at my attempts with high school Spanish, but the fact that I tried should tell you that the atmosphere was pretty close to places where I have paid for meals with pesos. This place has been here since Baltimore Avenue [US 1] actually was the road you took to get from DC to Baltimore, and has lasted for good reason. Give it a try when you want atmosphere and food that are much like those south of the border.

    My giant burrito.

It's a hole in the wall! But hole in the walls are sometimes gems! I was the only female customer at 6ish. Quite a few men in the restaurant. The ladies working there are super nice, and attentive. Let's Get Into It! Cheese Enchilada - Met expectations. The chili sauce is not spicy and they made that enchilada cheesy! Fajitas- Met expectations. I have had better fajitas honestly but these weren't bad. Price point: Very Inexpensive for the amount of food! Overall, the place is decent. It has a El Salvadoran menu and Mexican menu, which for me I'm not a fan of. The Mexican dishes were okay but their tortillas were more thick and El Salvadoran style. I wouldn't return as the food was just okay for my liking. There were loud men singing at the top of their lungs like they were on the Latin Voice and that was off putting. I get it, they are having fun, but it wasn't karaoke night and was disturbing. I left after two songs of the man singing, thankfully I was already done. Definitely worth a try though for others.

We ordered the calamari, fajitas, and enchiladas, and all of the entrees were delicious. My favorite was definitely the calamari. It was lightly battered, perfectly crispy, and I loved that the dipping sauce was served warm it paired so well. The only downside was that the shrimp in the fajitas still had the shells on, which was pretty surprising when I took a bite. It also feels very crowded inside, which makes the space less comfortable. The booth seating could use some improvement as well, the tables are too high while the chairs are too low, making it uncomfortable to sit and enjoy a meal. Their complimentary chips and salsa were the best we've had so far. The salsa tasted fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. The only other disappointment was that they had run out of horchata and weren't making another batch. I was really looking forward to trying it, but overall we had a great meal and would definitely come back.

The atmosphere was lively, service was genuinely great, and everything came out quickly. Staff was attentive, drinks arrived fast, and the guacamole was outstanding. That's where the positives end. ASK FOR THE PRICES. As I mentioned, I expected a normal Mexican restaurant experience and didn't think twice before ordering. Big mistake. The menu is extremely deceptive because many prices are not clearly listed. I ordered the Cantarito Mundial (a clay cup-style Mexican Paloma with Don Julio), my wife ordered a michelada, and we also ordered another World Cup special drink for a friend since we were celebrating a birthday. Food-wise, the pulpo al fuego was disappointing. The octopus was overcooked, rubbery, and lacked flavor. My wife's drink was also underwhelming. Then the bill came. For just my wife and me: almost $300. I expected the octopus to be expensive at $65! that part didn't shock me. But the drinks? Completely different story. The Cantarito Mundial was $60. Yes, sixty dollars for one drink. The soccer boot slushie drink was $45. Those prices would maybe make sense if the food and drinks were exceptional, but they weren't. Mediocre food at luxury pricing. I walked out feeling stunned and honestly deceived. Not because it was expensive, but because the pricing wasn't transparent and I never expected drinks to cost that much without clear disclosure. It left a really bad feeling after what was supposed to be a birthday celebration. The guacamole was excellent... but unfortunately I don't even know what it cost because it ended up on someone else's tab. If you go here: ask for prices before ordering. Don't assume.
