Great food, they stay very busy so the earlier in the day is the best time to go. They are very friendly.

So far the seating is terrible. I am a big man & they seated us in a booth. When we asked for a table they said we'd have to go back outside & wait another 30 to 55 minutes. Why did I give Gringos two stars? First, let me mention that I didn't give Gringos two stars because of the waiter not getting my order right because that happens but I did give it to stars because of the service that we didn't receive from the moment we walked. We walked in and the hostess was not communicating with us as if we didn't just walk in them after about 10 minutes the hostess told a young kid that we needed a table and the young hostess walked us to our table and didn't say anything to us nor did he get us drinks or anything not even menus??! We were close to the front door and our waiter did not show up for another ten minutes we tried to get the hostess attention but he would walk right by and ignore us. We just waited patiently and when our waiter did arrive he was attentive, polite, and kind and took care of us he did get our order wrong but he took some money off the ticket for us because he apologized he had made the mistake. So there y'all go friends heads up I hope y'all get served better when y'all go to Gringos because we could have gone to other restaurants but we chose Gringos and our experience in the beginning by the hostesses was not a good one. Really really good food. This is a sort of noisy party atmosphere but the booths offer a little bit of sound barrier. Food is next level compared to many local Tex mex places. Fajita portions are generous. Presentation is great. They stay pretty busy so plan for a wait, especially if you have a larger group or have to be seated at a table rather than an elevated booth. Food is very fresh tasting and prices are a little higher than typical Tex mex, but quality is superior and you probably will have some leftovers to take home for later. read more

Not the best Mexican food. Had beef fajitas and the meat tasted like rubber. It's a short distance from me, but I would prefer to drive a little longer to Lupe Tortilla. So we go here quite often, its a fun place and usually on point with service, food, and cost. However I heard this crazy rumor, that gringos is now going to pay their waitstaff more money based on seniority. For the purpose of talent retention. I got that it costs tremendous money and time to train a newbie. going from 2.15 hr to 4.75 or more for multi year employees, sounds like i shouldn't have to tip as much. And of course the menu items go up in price so my base tip goes up too. Then have the nerve to say, hope other restaurants do the same? The whole reason the staff is paid 2.15 hr is so they work to earn their 20 percent. So are you going to put stars on the uniform so we know which level of wage the person is getting like cracker barrel? I am tired of subsidizing the labor and then being asked to pay more for the entrees on top of it. Restaurants at this caliber should be like cafe express, order, sit, go get order and sit, no tip. Plenty of room for improvement... Instance #1: Celebrate my daughter's birthday with a party of 11. They wouldn't take reservations. Put our name on the list, was told it would be 30-45 mins. Hour later we started noticing parties get seated that arrived after us. When we asked about it, the hostess had never put our name/party down. You'd think they would have noticed seeing a party of 11 waiting for an hour that they would want to check to make sure everything is okay. Instance #2: After COVID, we had to start using takeout. Ordered our usual Friday order of fajitas for 6. Got home... no tortillas. Instance #3: Takeout order. Was told they had to put it in the car, and I made sure to remind them about the last time the order was messed up and I was assured everything was in order. Got halfway home, checked the bags.... and we were missing the gallon of margarita we ordered. Had to turn around and go back to get it. Instance #4: By this time, I am done with the establishment. I get talked into going there by my wife. When we arrive, we are told that now the only way we can be seated is if we have a reservation... even at the bar. So we make a reservation on our phone, in front of the hostess stand and we are told it's going to be 45mins to an hour. So we decide to go to local store and wait. Not even 10mins after we were told 45 minutes to a hour and we are walking into the store, we get a text saying our table was ready. So we turn around and go back. We had a good dinner, great conversation with the bartender. He educated us on different tequilas and said we could keep the shot glasses that we used. We left a substantial tip for his service. As we are walking out, we get stopped by a rude manager and told we are not allowed to take the shot glasses. We explained that they were given to us, and she proceeds to take them from my wife and says we cannot have them. Between me and my family, we have spent well over a few thousand dollars there. Easy to do when you eat there once a week. Now, none of us will be going back. We can't wait for El Tiempo in Kingwood to open. read more

The place had a nice atmosphere and outdoor waiting/talking area. Ordered the mixed fajitas which came out as only beef and chicken with no shrimp(was charged for ckn/beef combo and not the mixed). Two corn tortillas came out after several minutes of just looking at the food. Then I didn't have enough tortillas for the amount of food and I didn't bother asking for more. The beef was chewy and stringy(deal killer). I had to spit out this beef bubble gum. Tiny dab of guacamole. There was nothing special about the rice and runny refrieds. My wife has been wanting to try this restaurant since they opened and we went this afternoon. 4 pm isn't a busy time so getting seated was a breeze. Chips and sauce were served and they were great. My wife got the Presidente and didn't know there was a cold plate and a hot plate but they let her know that another plate was on its way in 5 minutes. She really enjoyed her meal. I had the '3 amigos & Pepe' and it was pretty good. I wanted to see if the beef fajitas were great or just ok and with a beef fajita enchilada, I was able to check out the meat. Sylvia's enchilada kitchen is still my go-to enchilada restaurant. The cheese enchilada was very good but how can you mess one of those up? The chicken enchilada was pretty good too. The ground beef enchilada had a pinch of cumin too much but was ok. I asked if the nachos could come with queso and she told me that I could substitute queso for the cheese. I'll try that next time and see how it stacks up to my favorite nacho restaurant in Houston - Bodegas. Hopefully, the nachos at Gringo's will surpass Bodegas in quality and price and if they do I'll be singing their praises from the rooftops of Houston. read more

I love this place!!!! I've gone twice and I REALLY don't like Tex Mex but this restaurant is amazing!!! I always get the fajitas and the meat is always very tender and easy to eat. I got the rice and beans the first time, it was great! I'm very picky with rice and beans because Tex Mex places are so hit or miss with it but this place has it done right. The second time around I actually asked for grilled veggies on the side instead and the waiter was so kind about it! The veggies were also GREAT. Mushrooms, zucchini, bell peppers, and carrots! Plus the corn tortillas are handmade which is very rare!! Our service is always exceptional which makes up for the long wait times (totally worth it btw) Plus there is a soft serve ice cream machine for everyone to use. I love the decor, and I love how clean and tidy the place is too. Definitely go here if you're looking for good Tex Mex read more

This place is awesome but open table reservations do not work let me repeat they do not work. you call in and ask to be put on the waitlist and they tell you it's 40 minutes and then when you show up they tell you it was an hour and a half. We arrived at 2.30 to catch the slow period between lunch and early dinner. This was our second visit and on our previous visit the food was really good although the service somewhat lacking. Today the food was just as good but the service was hopeless. We were seated straight away, chips and salsa arrived and drinks order taken. 30 minutes later no drinks. One of the other servers noticed our rather bemused look and took our food order. Our server brought drinks and when the food finally arrived I ordered another drink and received a lecture on the restaurant's drink policy. Wow! At this point it's pretty clear our server has the rats with us to the point that while we are still eating we get the check. Good food and atmosphere but the service was just awful. Arrived and was seated immediately. 10 minutes later still had not been greeted by anyone. Started to look around and a waitress noticed. Came to the table stated she was not assigned to our section but would get our chips and drinks. She also took our order. I explained to her how we have been waiting at least 10 minutes. She was very apologetic and brought us our drinks and chips. Within 2 minutes several staff members came to our table apologizing for our wait. The general manager came immediately to our table with our order and offered us his apology. The food was very good, fajitas, and good size portions. We were checked on a number of times, more than usual I would suspect. Toward the end of our meal the head manager came to our table and apologized again. Way to much SALT in their food. Everything from chips, salsa to food is way over salted. All my friend and I could taste was salt.
