What's the hype? This place is always packed and if you don't have prior reservations it can be pretty difficult to get in without waiting awhile: So I've been to many Tex-mex or Mexican type of restaurants some are better than others. This, not so much. Busy night as always but the wifey wanted some Mexican food so we order beef fajitas and some tacos. Although served on a sizzling plate this slab of meat seems pretty old and not very tasty. It was like eating a cool piece of lard and wasn't very appetizing. The tacos can be compared to Taco Bell but I actually think that Taco Bell flavoring might have even beat it. Price didn't justify the experience we had because guess what? Now I ended up finishing it off and yet I still had 2 other tummies to feed. I hate having to eat again after going to a restaurant to fulfill the initial request. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone here but my experience didn't give me a very good impression why it's packed all the time and I really don't want to come back for a redo. read more

This was my first visit to this very popular Mexican eatery in Brazo Town Center. The atmosphere was fun and energized but loud, bustling with laughter and conversation as I approached the hostess stand. I was having an early dinner (4:00'sh) so I had expected less patrons and was lucky to grab one of the last few tables open. I was seated immediately at a 2-top booth on the end of the main isle which was far from relaxing with constant traffic passing my table. I should have spoken up and requested another table off the main isle. Since it was quite busy I didn't which is totally on me. I just never enjoy being in the main traffic pattern. The restaurant has three dining areas with 2-seat and 4-seat booths, tables and a large bar. The lively bar was full and by this time patrons were hovering for bar stools. The menu was diverse and covered all the staples required for a good Mexican restaurant. They had three Hatch Chili specials that were ending the following day. The harvest season for hatch chili's is August and September and Gringo's was wrapping up the season by featuring a Hatch Chili Fiesta with Queso, Enchiladas, and Camarones. I found a terrific selection of appetizers with nachos, queso, quesadillas, Southwest egg rolls plus much more. The diverse menu features several Combo Plates, Chimichangas, Pork Tamales, Fajitas, several Seafood options, Salad and Soups and all the Classics (burritos, flautas, tacos, chalupas, and fajitas). Two types of salsa and chips were delivered shortly after I sat down. The red salsa has a slightly thick pureed texture with a slight kick to it. The green avocado sauce has a thicker consistency with a cool, refreshing taste. I enjoyed both with my humungous bowl of warm chips and as a topping for my enchiladas. I ordered the wonderful Hatch Chili Chicken Enchiladas served with tender spanish rice and flavorful charro beans with cilantro and tiny sausage pieces. Excellent flavors and the hatch chilies were a nice touch. To bad this isn't staying on the menu. My server, Brandon, was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I had devoured so many chips I had to take most of my dinner home. Brandon boxed my leftovers, brought extra cups of salsa and bagged everything to go. I will visit Gringo's again when I return to Rosenberg. The prices are affordable, delicious food, a varied menu offering many of our favorites with friendly and attentive servers. read more

Excellent Tex Mex food served in a fun and engaging atmosphere. I was in my own so I sat at the bar and received excellent service from both the bartender and the food runners. Be sure to try the Tres Leche dessert; it was moist and flavorful and one of the best I have ever eaten. read more

I am not a huge fan of Tex Mex, but WOW! Gringo's is up there! Everything from the complimentary chips and dip, to the main course, and of course, the ice cream afterwards! Our waiter so was attentive, and extremely kind. I am a sucker for great customer service. I had the pollo marisco, and it was sooooo delicious. I am salivating as I write this review. My boyfriend got the seafood enchiladas, but I think the pollo marisco was way better. Even taking my leftover togo, it was just as good in the restaurant. I am happy too because they gave us a full bag of chips to go, with the green salsa! I wish there was one closer in Houston, then I would be there every weekend. read more

Went tonight for dinner. Ordered the shrimp tacos on corn tortillas with a side of black beans and mixed veg. Never had an issue when ordering this. Tonight was different. The slaw was placed below the shrimp and wrapped in foil which made the tortilla become watery and rip. They used to put the slaw on top. I had to order "dry" tortillas to transfer everything. The black beans were cold. And the mixed veg was so greasy and soggy it left a film on my lips and hands. I couldn't even eat it. The only positive thing was our waiter was very good, but all in all the dinner was a waste. Won't be back. read more

Server did a great job - only critique is we didn't get silverware until after we started eating. 3 stars because bar & hostess did a poor job. We were waiting at the bar for our table and the hostess came and complained to us that we couldn't sit there while we waited for a table. When we got sat the hostess was rude and threw our menus on the table. We were also not greeted in or told anything on our way out. The bartender was rude and our drink took extremely long. Been coming here for a few years. I like the fajitas and shrimp plate. I usually sit at the bar and work for a little while. Drink a beer and talk to others. When i get hungry i order a meal or an appetizer like fajita nachos; eat, relax, and go home. People are friendly and atmosphere is upbeat not boring. There is a wait during happy hour so would recommend come early to beat the crowd. read more

What a SHAME!!!! We use to come here at least once a week and now...never again!!! We will now be going to the Sugar Land location. This place has gone down hill since Kelly left. Tonight was the nail in the coffin for this place and my family. We waited 15 mins to be waited on and after 30 mins of being here still no chips and salsa!!! The waiter just says it's because of shift change...ummmm not out problem!!!! After ordering and waiting another 15 mins the waiter comes back asking us to clarify our order (head scratch) like WTF!!!! So done with this place!!!! This is also a frustrating from the past 3-4 times we've been here they've had excuse after excuse of why shit is t right. Once again, this location has disappointed. We called our order in at 4:45 and was told a 20 minute wait period. We checked in for curbside at 5:09 and received our food at 5:30. To top that off, we get home and some of our items weren't included. read more

Best Mexican restaurant in Richmond/Rosenberg and it's a franchise. Many of the so called Mexican restaurants in town have lost what real authentic Mexican taste like or don't really care anymore.
