There's a down home, country feel to the 49'er Saloon subtly referring to the California gold rush days of yore. Looks like an ideal place for bikers and horse riders. Hearty grub with hints of traditional regional American cuisine and full bar where you will not leave hungry. There's a formal dining room for larger gatherings for families and friends. Great place to eat after scrambling around Vasquez Rocks, visiting Animal Tracks, or just hungry on CA 14 frwy. Just get off the Crown Valley offramp and head due south for about a mile. 1) Wild Game Sausage: Walk On The Wild Side With Jalapeño-Cheddar Stuffed Elk With Roasted Peppers & Onions. Big portion enough for 2 meals since the Elk sausage is so rich. Elk sausage is ground fine and stuffed tightly in the casing for dense, firm texture. You're getting your money's worth. The Jalapeño has a nice, warm piquancy while the Cheddar gives a dairy fermented undertone. The julienned red and green bellpeppers are pleasantly al dente; the onions are caramelized to bring out their sweetness. It's all sautéed in an agrodolce/sweet-sour sauce along with a touch of garlic. 1a) Side dish: Nice little garden salad including green lettuce, diced purple onion, chopped tomato, grated carrot. Chose blue cheese dressing to use for the "Buffalo Burger". 2) "Buffalo Burger" is extra finely ground, plush, velvety Bison meat. So when I ordered it medium rare, the patty turned out mushy. Next time, I will order it medium to firm up and give more of a chaw to the meat. Opted for two slices of not too crispy, meaty bacon. Mayo, tomato, green lettuce leaf, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, dense brioche bun. I spread on the blue cheese dressing to give a little funk to what I thought would be the blood minerality of the Bison meat. It's another substantial dish. 2a) Side dish of standard French fries which was crisp as requested although it didn't quite have that ineffable earthy, mildly sweet, potato flavour 1-2a) Allegiance India Pale Ale, Lancaster CA was a good counter to both food items. Dry, heavy bodied, fruity with scents of orange zest, lacquer, touch of cleansing acidity. 49'er doesn't leave you hungry so didn't have enough room for dessert. I took the Elk sausage home and made sandwiches for two meals. So eating at the 49'er isn't as expensive due to the big portions. 4 stars

Tucked away in the quiet charm of Agua Dulce, we decided to slow the morning down with a proper…read morebreakfast. The change of pace from the city was immediately noticeable--the open views, calm atmosphere, and small-town feel created the kind of ambience that makes you want to linger over coffee a little longer. I came in with one thing on my mind: a classic fried steak and eggs. When the plate arrived, it delivered exactly what you hope for from a hearty breakfast--crispy, golden breading on the steak, tender inside, paired with eggs cooked just right. It was comforting, satisfying, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. My girlfriend, who is expecting and arrived with a serious appetite, chose the Eggs Florentine. The dish was beautifully balanced: perfectly poached eggs resting over fresh spinach, topped with a smooth, rich hollandaise that tied everything together. The flavors were clean, fresh, and well executed. What stood out most was how fresh and flavorful everything tasted. Nothing felt rushed or overly processed, just well-prepared breakfast classics served in a setting that encourages you to relax and enjoy the moment. Between the delicious food and the peaceful scenery, the experience felt like a small escape from the everyday rush. A memorable breakfast spot in Agua Dulce. I'll definitely be making another stop here the next time I'm in the area.

Keep in mind they close at 3. We have had many different breakfast plates, tuna melt, Ortega chill burgers, and the Chinese chicken salad. Let's start with breakfast. Huge portions, the best ham steak ever, thick and tender. The bacon is always crispy. Both the country potatoes and the hash browns are so flavorful. Oh and the biscuits and gravy are so yummy. Every burger, sandwich, and salad we've had have been delicious. The hardest part is fighting the desire to try something new because everything we have had we want again. Let's talk French fries. The French fries arrive like a small golden miracle -- crisp-edged, sunlit, audibly whispering as they spill onto the plate. They crackle when you touch them, release a sigh of steam when broken open, and taste like everything good about potatoes ever dreamed of becoming. Each one is salted with confidence, hot enough to make you impatient, perfect enough to forgive yourself for eating them all and not sharing The fries may be golden, but the staff is the real sparkle. What truly anchors this place is the people who work there. They greet you like they've been expecting you all day. They linger just long enough to ask how you're really doing. By the end of the meal, it feels less like you've been served and more like you've been cared for. Ray and Andrew served us today and I am remiss for not remembering all of the staff's names as everyone has treated us like familiar guests. Agua Dulce has a real jewel of a restaurant and if you aren't local, like us, it's worth the pretty drive.

They get your order right and you can even have a medium rare burger and not some burnt ones, like some insist on. We have only been twice, but we will be going back when we are in the neighborhood. I think you will like this place, they also have super sandwiches and I love their chicken sandwiches. I am pretty sure they have a vegan burger as well.

Yelp recommended Hook Burger, so I listened. This local burger joint serves up all your favorites: burgers, sammies, salads, and more. I ordered the chicken caprese sandwich. Since this meal was around $13, I expected it to be pretty average. I was shocked to find the sandwich was absolutely delicious. I devoured it in minutes. While the concept is fast-casual, they have a pretty large dining space. This place is great for big groups, family outings, etc. I could easily see myself stopping here on my next road trip!
