Went in on a whim at around 1130 and was not disappointed in the least!! Although the bartender was on his own he still fired up the grill for us and made a delicious burger! I will definitely be back again and I highly recommend stopping by Nd checking out their burgers and fries! BTW we ordered a bacon cheeseburger and split it and it was plenty...and the bacon was THICK CUT! Great place to grab some good food and drinks. My wife and I stopped by tonight. We had a couple of appetizers. They are very generous with the food portions. My wife had a couple of mix drinks. Really weird tonight. Ten minutes went by without any acknowledgement from the bartender who was looking very busy reading receipts. Finally my boyfriend went up to ask her for drinks as she was clearly not coming over to our end of the bar. Our total was 10 so my boyfriend gave her a twenty and... She just walked away without giving us change and proceeded to run food to tables. We had to get another waitress to ask the bartender for our change. At that point we figured the bartender must be drunk. We went last night and ordered food which is why we came back tonight. But I will never order food from here again because upon further glance around the bar we noticed how unsanitary their food and drink prep areas are. There was a layer of gunk under the mats- they must have gone without any cleaning for at least a few weeks if not more. There was debris on the floor, napkins and what appeared to be pieces of cups. The mixers under the bar were noticeably unorganized. The icing on the cake was the open box of receipts right next to the jukebox. Plenty of personal information laying out for the taking. Let me start off this review by saying that the food I tried was very very good. I had the tri tip nachos and loved them. I also had the Panda Wings which had an Asian Flavor and they were great also. Had 12-14 different beers on tap with a more than decent variety. As far as the ambience this place is in need of a serious upgrade. The bar area is huge and they had 1 decent sized TV and 2 small ones. They could easily fit 6-8 good sized sets in this area to give it a real sports bar feel (I'm not sure if they consider themselves a sports bar or not so maybe that is not what they are going for. Just my observation.) Also the room was completely dark. Needs some serious lighting in there. There was only 6-8 people in there so it was only gonna be so lively but it was absolutlely dead in there. This place has all kinds of potential. Turlock has absolutely no sports bars to speak of so I think they could really market themselves to that crowd and come up with something big. They do have live music on the weekends that seemed to draw a pretty good crowd. If that's your type of thing this just may be the place for you. I was just expecting more of a sports bar vibe...but make no mistake the food is excellent. read more

Lunch/Dinner options top anything in Turlock. The Kodiak and Mammoth burgers can feed a football team! The size and show do not compromise the flavor and taste. Portion, flavor, service, LOVE IT! They will customize to anything you want, within reason, of course. The breakfast burrito is to die for! French toast and Grizzly cakes are so good! Steer clear!!! Ate here a couple times always mediocre food. Takes forever to come out. They can not handle a big party or being busy very well. Today went in for family breakfast. Ordered a linguist breakfast burrito and asked them to add gravy. When I cut into it found a hair and They forgot to add gravy. Looked through burrito and found 3 long black hairs cooked into it. Started off our lazy Saturday with the ever pressing question of where on earth to eat breakfast here in sunny Turlock, CA. After scouring the interweb, we stumbled upon Grizzly Rock Cafe! Having lived in Turlock for most of our lives and still never been, we decided to venture out. In the search for our breakfast location of choice for this Saturday. We stumbled upon a broken down shack. Then realized that it was in-fact the place we would be gracing with out breakfast needs. Hoping this was a well hidden broken down gem in the rough, but also fearing for our bowles, we were greeted with a friendly smile and informed to "sit anywhere". This would not be a problem as the cafe could only be described as vacant. The menu was decent size and offered both breakfast and lunch options. Price were fair and seemed to offer good value for what you received. After a few minutes of contemplating our options (and receiving my first morning coffee). We placed our orders in hopeful bliss. Both having weaknesses for food, I ordered the tri-tip breakfast burrito, and my comrade ordered the "moose burrito". This enabled us to test both the breakfast and lunch offerings. After a shorter then normal wait, we where greeted by the monstrosity that can only be described as a "Big Ass Burrito" (Picture 1). Please do not embark on the mission of the moose burrito unless you have the colon of a 3,000 pound elephant. But, we where pleasantly surprised by not only the portion sizes but also the decent flavors. Nothing to write home about, but definitely more then we expected from a shack off Highway 99. In summary...every child is told by his mother to not judge a book by its cover. Very nice restaurant, love the food, but the only issue I have is their dishes have always been dirty when i've gone in. One time I ordered two waters and both the cups had pink lipstick on the cup... this happened during covid-19 too. The worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. Heard that the Pull Pork Sandwich was a highly recommended item on the menu. Ordered it with garlic fries. The sandwich was horrible!!! The fries were nasty and must been in the freezer for a long time. Not sure how old the oil and the garlic were not even fresh...never had dried garlic on a garlic fries before. Not feeling well and wanted to puke, I went to use the restroom. It was unsanitary and unsafe. It has not been clean in days. Half of the lightings were out. This place was a little rough on appearance but for breakfast spots sometimes those are the hidden gems. Waitresses informed us right away they had one cook and the wait may be a little longer than usual. Wait time was normal and food was incredible.
