    Spicy chicken sandwich
    Sami A.

The food truck has a good number of options. I did decide to go with the spicy chicken sandwich because it's been the news around town after Mico's popped up. I did really like the chicken sandwich but in my opinion the beef patty was too thin even though it tasted great. I will definitely be pulling over for the chicken sandwich if I'm driving down westheimer. The spot can be tricky to find because there is not a cut in the median to access the food truck but it is between Fondren and Dunvale. The owner is a nice genuine businessman who welcomed opinions and provided some good suggestions on what to order for a first timer.

If you're looking for amazing burgers in Houston, then this is the spot for you. Their Jalapeño Dreamer burger is definitely in my top 2 burgers of Houston and it's not number 2. It consists of a halal beef patty, some jalapeño ranch sauce that is unique and out of this world, and some crushed Doritos. During my last visit, I added halal bacon to my order and it paired perfectly with it. The best part is that this food truck is open late like until 3am on the weekends. I can't wait till they have their own brick & mortar store!

Chili Burger and side of fries

TL;DR Version Inconvenient experience for pretty okay food. You don't know if it's open or if it closed early, you don't know if certain foods are being offered that day according to what the owner decides to cook, and the food takes a while to get out to you. But the food is pretty good. Full Review: After the first time trying this place and finding an entirely empty food truck and leaving after waiting a while, we finally made our way back. We were looking forward to their rice bowls! I saw someone posted about a double chicken rice bowl and was stoked to try it! When we both asked for a rice bowl, the owner said that he didn't have any of those. We asked if he ran out, and he proceeded to inform us that certain things on his menu, like the rice dishes, are "special". When he has the rice, he offers them. When he doesn't make the rice, he doesn't. That was a big dissapointment because we came specifically for those bowls. We ordered burgers with fries instead, and waited nearly 20 minutes for our food to get out to us. The food itself was pretty solid, solid 7/10, and the Chili Burger was really spicy, a plus for me. The fries are also seasoned, which gives them a nice kick. But given that whole experience is such a hassle, the food didn't wow us enough to come back and deal with all that.

The fully loaded hot dog is so legit and a great portion too!

This is hands down my favorite burger spot in Houston right now, and that's saying a lot! With a combination of his stellar culinary creativity and a desire to provide top-notch customer service, owner Ahmad has truly earned every bit of his success. Whether you're looking to try one of their popular menu offerings, or are seeking to customize the experience by trying new items with your own touch, Ahmad works with you to ensure 100% satisfaction. It's a refreshingly pleasant overall approach to establishing connection with his customers and for that, this place deserves continued growth and recognition. Their chili burger is a must try while the jalapeño dreamer is a worthy staple as well. Spicy chicken here is solid too and the newly launched kafta kabob packs some incredible flavor. Two thumbs way up!!!!

This place is fantastic. The burgers are absolutely delicious and you get a lot of food as well for an affordable price. The staff is really nice and they are quick with the food. Definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. The jalapeno dreamer and the spicy crispy chicken are my personal favorites.

I wanted to get a feel of this place so I tried the cheeseburger and my husband ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. I liked how the burger tasted homemade and the fries were crispy like I like them. The spicy chicken sandwich had a nice kick to it. It was something different about the sandwich and I couldn't out my finger in it but it was still good.

    Chicken Shawarma Fries

So 1:48 am we get the munchies. We find this late night food truck, Groovy Burger & decide to give it a try. Not to far from where we live, so let's go. Upon arrival, parking was easy & area was clean & well lit. I ended up getting the Chicken Shawarma fries, pictured. Enough for 2 & delicious! Plenty of chicken, sauce & spice...perfect snack. My sons got the Jalapeño Dreamer & Spicy Chicken sandwich's. The dreamer, he said, will leave you dreaming for another one haha. He said wasn't to spicy just delicious. The Spicy Chicken sandwich, that I managed to snag a bite, is a must try! I will return sooner than later to get that sandwich for myself. It was delicious. All in all, from the looks of it, I'm sure it's all delicious. We will be back! Love the late hours, thanks. Way better than the corner What?

All dinners come with a Greek garlic bread starter. I love their iced tea- fresh brewed and always good! The wine is Greek and seems a small bit pricey, but for the extra dollar or two it's worth it- Very delicious. Anything you get at Athena's is amazing so feel free to branch out on your choice. And the desserts are large and homemade! It's hard to save room though. You'll love the fish, steaks, and kebabs. They do a nice lunch sandwich- and still comes with the bread and a Greek salad. If you come on a weekend evening, you may run into the owner having the time of her life! And they take pride in serving the most sweet and ripe slice of melon with every dish. Started to enjoy this first each time I come. It is that delicious, but why can't I find fruit like that anywhere at a grocery store? Give this place a try. Yummy. Officially the authentic Greek restaurant without going overboard. Wait- the homemade 3 layer chocolate cake and the lemon cake! Actually bought a whole one for a large birthday party and everyone wanted to know the bakery name- just Athena's homemade cake! Remember, Greek food is fresh with best ingredients. Service is above that notch and family atmosphere with Greek music- always. But I do find I'm stopping in there solo all the time; others too! When the entree arrived I thought the lamb shank looked small. Taste wise it was good but I have had better. Also the potatoes were as advertised however their appearance and taste to me was average. If I ordered this meal again I would order another side dish perhaps the rice. This meal was a 3.5. Another visit was for dinner was to try the Kokkinisto entree for $21. Again this meal comes with the same enjoyable side salad with bread and I chose the Briami as the supplied side dish. The Kokkinisto (Greek beef stew) arrived on a bed of rice and covered in its herbed tomato sauce with garlic and onions. The Briami was in a separate bowl of stewed veggies in a light tomato sauce. I liked this meal better. The stew had good flavor with tender beef and a tasty red sauce. Also the veggies were good tasting too. I gave this meal a 4. Finally the waitress was very friendly. I believe her name was Jennifer? I like this restaurant and believe they serve good tasting and authentic Greek food.

Established back in 1977, this Greek café has grown from a humble walk‑up window into a full‑fledged neighborhood institution, beloved for its hearty Mediterranean comfort food and lively, come‑as‑you‑are atmosphere. The Montrose location stays bustling from lunch through late night, drawing in everyone from families to night‑owls to longtime regulars who've been coming here for decades. What keeps people returning is simple: the food hits. Diners consistently praise the authentic Greek flavors, especially the gyro plates -- a blend of beef and lamb shaved from the spit, tucked into warm, fresh pita, and finished with cool, garlicky tzatziki. Portions are generous without being sloppy, and the pricing stays reasonable, making it one of the best value spots in the neighborhood. Your gyro arrives stacked, your fries come hot, and your plate feels like it was built by someone who actually wants you to leave full. The menu is huge, but the classics shine brightest. The Greek salad is crisp and refreshing, loaded with feta, olives, tomatoes, and their famous dressing. Service here is fast, friendly, and efficient -- the kind of counter‑style operation where the staff keeps things moving without losing the warmth that makes the place feel welcoming. Guests frequently mention how upbeat and helpful the team is, even during rush hours. The vibe is lively but never chaotic: families grabbing dinner, couples sharing mezze plates, and regulars chatting with staff like old friends. It's casual, energetic, and unmistakably Montrose. One thing that sets Niko Niko's apart is its deep Houston history. The Fetokakis family has run the restaurant for nearly half a century, maintaining a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality that helped the café earn multiple Houston Press awards over the years -- from Best Pork Chops to Best Family‑Owned Restaurant. Even as the city has changed around it, Niko Niko's has stayed true to its roots: hearty food, Greek hospitality, and a community‑driven spirit. Whether you're grabbing a quick gyro, sitting down for a full spread, or stopping by for dessert after a night out, Niko Niko's delivers exactly what a neighborhood staple should: great food, great value, and a welcoming atmosphere. The flavors are bold, the portions are generous, and the experience feels like Houston -- diverse, warm, and full of character. If you're in Montrose and craving Greek comfort done right, this spot remains one of the city's most reliable pleasures.
