Had a delicious dinner here on Nov. 15, 2017. Started with delicious piping hot bread and oil. I had the most delicious pasta dish ever, spaghetti with clams, shrimp, garlic in a white wine sauce. I could eat this every night. My sister in law Kathy ha a gnocchi pasta dish with a pesto sauce that was so yummy. Andrew the chef owner came out of the busy kitchen to say hello to us. Second time there. Food is never a disappointment! Very good and fast service. The vegetable bolognese is amazing!

I do not understand the appeal of this place. While the atmosphere is nice, the food is average, and, with last night's visit, the service could only be described as leave-me-alone surly. We went in around 10pm for dessert and after-dinner drinks. Hallelujah, the A/C was on full blast! We took two seats at the bar. The bartender looked at us, then turned around and served several others. She came back several minutes later (it's a small bar folks - maybe 6-8 people) with a full menu and place mats. When we told her we were just there for dessert and drinks, she snatched the menus away, not saying a word and then continued to ignore us. She looked like that bar was the last place she wanted to be and heaven forbid she actually say hello and offer us something - anything. I had had to drag my husband in there because he doesn't like the food but I told him their drink selection always seems interesting and how can you mess up dessert? Well, I guess by scowling at guests and not offering them anything - it is possible. We left without ever being spoken to. Won't be back. read more

Just discovered that this restaurant is open for business as of 2 weeks ago and have been there twice in 3 days. The menu is innovative and the food is 5 Star. Love, love, love the gnocchi with broccoli rabe sauce and don't know why any one would order it without.....and then complain about it! Ditto the veal meatball appetizers....sweet surprise. Can't wait to go back for another awesome meal. Two things they might want to re-think.....1) the chairs are really uncomfortable and 2) the waitress constantly interrupted our conversation (4 at our table) and tried to rush us through our meal, from the drinks to dessert, while the restaurant had a number of tables empty. EXCELLENT new place! Grotta bring something totally new to Long Beach, and the surrounding towns. I have always been a big fan of italian, but this is different. It is a more modern take on italian. I have eaten here several times now since their opening a few months ago. The homemade fettucinni is amazing! You can't get homemade pasta anywhere else around here. The pork cheek ravioli is also different and very enjoyable. So far i have dined three times, as a group of 2, 4, and 8. All three times our service has been very good and food is excellent. The general manager Pam has created a very nice wine list as well. I have recommended Grotta to many of my friends and all have come back with rave reviews. I would recommend you try it now before the summer crowds rejoin the west end. Also i definitly recommend a reservation for groups 4 and larger as the diningroom seats what looks like 50 or so. read more

Great new Italian restaurant in Long Beach!! went here for an early sunday dinner about 5:30 and the restaurant had nice amount of people. I really liked the look of this restaurant. Ambiance...I found it to be cozy and great for date night!! They also had a nice size bar! Wait staff was very good..very attentive. Veal meatball appetizer...4 small meatballs..tasted really good!! We tried the margarita pizza and it was also good...just would of liked the sauce flavored a bit more. entrée..i had 1/2 roasted chicken with fregola salad and grilled artichoke hearts..nice size portion and it tasted really good! chicken was nice and moist..not dry at all. bf had the swordfish with eggplant caponata and wild mushrooms..he said the fish tasted ok but the sides tasted really good so when we go back he will probably order something else. dessert...bread pudding with gelato... warm bread pudding with cold gelato is a great combo! Overall place was very good! Not your typical Italian restaurant..i really liked it!! We are definitely heading back!! read more

Amazing selection of Italian dishes, best spot to come down to for dinner with family and friends in Long Beach. Most definitely a must go to for amazing Italian dine! My friends and I went here for brick oven pizza. It was horrible! A fed ex package probably taste better. The hostess told us the table of 4 was reserved for another seating bit moved us to another empty table for 4 seated directly next to the table which was reserved. Made absolutely no sense . I have no tried the rest of the food. The pizza was tasteless. read more

Very good food, very good service. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Long Beach. It is not cheap, but not very expensive either. My favorite dish is grilled whole orata, but we never had a bad meal, no matter what we ordered. They are also very accommodating of gluten free people and vegetarians. Excellent restaurant. Went with a gift card and enjoyed everything. Ordered 5 entrees for 4 because we are Italians with BIG appetites. Had 2 orders of the Cocoa Fettucine Bolognese(didn't really understand the need for the"cocoa" as the sauce was so tasty), Lamb Shank(nice size and tasty), Monkfish(perfectly cooked) and Ricotta Gnocchi with big chunks of mushrooms(a small portion but nice presentation in the boat like dish). Nicely toasted Italian bread on the table and good service. One complaint about the grilled(charred) Octopus. Why the big price($15) for a tiny portion of not even a whole tentacle. We all want to know, Where the hell are the other 7? Otherwise I will return as everything was delicious. Note to hardworking busboy. Do not try to pour water from wrong side of beam. You spilled so much water on the table and my phone that I had to open the case and dry it out when I got home. I don't ever leave it on table but was expecting a call from a car shipper bringing me my car at that time. read more

We've been to this restaurant about 4 times and I don't know why. Once the food was really good, not so much the rest of the times. The atmosphere is cozy, but dark with no candle on the table, so it's hard to see. Essentially we spent $55 plus tip for 12 raviolis that tasted like sea food. It was just bad. Made our stomachs hurt. Don't let yourself get wrapped up in the trendiness of this "authentic Italian", it's a waste of money. YOU can make better homemade pasta. The restraint Lost and Found has a much better chef and dessert chef. read more

We went there last night to celebrate a 50th birthday. There were 6 of us ( 3 couples). We could not be more pleased!!!! We had a reservation and when we got there they were running a bit late ( a little over half hour). They could not be more apologetic to us. They gave us a round plus of free drinks and while we waited at the bar the owner (who was making brick oven pizza) overheard us talking about how hungry we were and complaining about the wait and the next thing we know he has prepared for us a pizza while we wait!!!!!! On the house!!!!!!! He could not be nicer!!!!! Once seated the staff were amazing and sooooo accommodating and attentive!!!!!! We had such a blast and the food was truly amazing!!!!!! Best Italian ever. The inside is so romantic with the candles peeking out of the brick wall...perfect for a date night. Food here is too good for our own good! Spent a beautiful night walking around Long Beach with some friends, and couldn't decide what to eat. We stumbled upon this place and noticed some empty tables outside which was exactly what we wanted, so we went in to ask to be seated. We didn't have reservations, but they accommodated us at an empty table outside. The waitress- i wish i got her name- was awkward and sarcastic. She looked like she didn't want to be serving a table of couples in their mid 20's. The menu is very good, but harder to choose from if you're a picky eater. This made it difficult for my boyfriend to make a decision. When he asked her some questions about the menu, and half jokingly asked if they made chicken parm (after all this is an italian restaurant) she became insulted and angry. If looks could kill... She basically reprimanded his question with her response. Walked away without taking our order and didn't come back for 15 minutes. It ruined the mood of our night and was very inappropriate of her. He decided on the gnocchi. I got the half of chicken. Both were okay, wouldn't really recommend either one. We had margarita pizza for appetizer, it was good. My drink was also good. I would revisit this place, try some different menu options and request a different waitress. read more

What a beautiful transformation.....the new space is chic & trendy & fun! We were a group of three women on a Wednesday night....we had a lovely time at the bar with a nice bartender (woman with ginger hair in a ponytail). Easily the best restaurant in Long Beach and probably Long Island. I am rarely impressed when going out for Italian cuisine, however, I can not begin to say how satisfied we are with the recent discovery of Grotta Di Fuoco. From the warm elegant feel of the dining room to the charm of the chef/owner Andrew, this restaurant does not fail to provide an incredible dining experience in the most comfortable of dining atmospheres. Whether you are looking for a few appetizers and cocktails, or a big Sunday dinner, Grotta Di Fuoco can not be more fitting of a place. Definitely try the charred octopus with pistachio pesto and spicy beans, clam casino ravioli & veal chop. Oh and dessert! I do not know who or what they have back there in the kitchen but I am certain it something no other restaurant on Long Island has. Unbelievable plating combined with clever flavor combinations come together and finish your meal in the most desirable way. Prices are fair, staff is excellent. My wife and I had dinner Sunday night. There was a table of 7 who were very loud. A couple sitting next to us asked the waitress if she could ask the people to be a little quieter. She told them she would get the manager. Again, the husband asked if she would ask the group to "tone it down" that they could not hear each other over the din. The manager said the party was celebrating one of the group moving and they were having a good time. The man said he did not want to interfere with them having a good time, just try to be a little more civil. Understand, they were all talking at once, shouting across the table, standing up yelling; a lot over the top. I am not sure how good my meal was since I could not enjoy it. We live in Long Beach and are regular customers of Grotta Di Fuoco. Not any more. In all three couples left in disgust. We all decided that was our last visit and will tell everyone we know how bad it was. Good food cannot overcome bad manners. read more
