I judge my coffee shops by their tea lattes. I love my London Fogs (dairy/sugar free, of course ) and Ground House did not disappoint. It was outstanding! It's was quite busy when I went in, so not many seating options, and the door to the bathroom struggled to stay locked. But other than that, top notch beverages! read more

My boyfriend and I were trying to stall time on an early Sunday morning and didn't want to go basic. We heard of a coffeehouse in Gardner and it was worth the drive. They have fun coffee options... we got the zebra which I recommend even though it's not on the menu. most importantly we got a coffee cake and it ended up being the best I've had.... we almost got two. The Owners are great people and the staff is always kind and helpful! I love the Spiced Chai - THE best in KC. The crepes served on weekends are made to order and perfect every time. Don't miss the cinnamon rolls but if you want one show up EARLY as they sell out quickly. Awesome addition to downtown Gardner. As mentioned before, this coffee house has gone into a historical building in Gardner, and has all of the charm that you would expect from a building that is nearly a century old. High ceilings, tin tiles on the ceiling, brick walls, just a great environment for this business. I'm not a huge coffee drinker myself, but the Chai Latte is the best I've ever had, and I've heard other good things about the coffee selections. The kids play kitchen was a huge hit with my 4 year old, and allowed my wife and I to spend a quality evening away from the house at a low cost. On the kids side, they offer a kids size drink, that was just $1 for a Hot Cocoa, which was really good too. I believe they get some of their bakery items from 3 Women and an Oven, so that's another plus. read more

My wonderful husband is somewhat of a coffee snob so going back to Gardner for the holidays is rough as we can't being the espresso maker with us. We were excited to hear that Groundhouse was open this year so we had a place to not only escape the 'rents for an hour or so but also get some much needed caffeine. We were excited to see what a great job they did at the decoration to the warm & inviting space. Plus the coffee is up to my husband's high snobby standards. We enjoyed the 'for here' cups and after only 2 visits the barista remembered my husband was extra hot... (That's how he likes his latte (-: ) After growing up and spending many years in good 'ole Gardner, it's nice to have a place that we enjoy just hanging out! It was difficult to tell as a non-Gardernite now if Groundhouse was open at times because if the windows all fogged up, but that didn't stop us from pulling on the handles. read more

I really love groundhouse, the blenders and the lattes are amazing. I crave the crepes, they're delicious! But I've had a couple experiences with some not so nice baristas. Everyone has their bad days and go through things and customers could've ruined their day right before I was there which is completely understandable. Overall love it, and would recommend to everyone. A must have, even if you don't love coffee. read more

Cool coffeehouse in downtown Gardner. Two teenagers behind the counter were friendly and helpful. There was lounge-style seating with comfy-looking sofas set around coffee tables along with regular tables spaced about. A bulletin board hung on one wall, announcing local happenings. Big place. This is probably the best (and only) coffee house in this little town in Kansas... so Congrats! I have a friend that chooses to live in Edgerton, KS.. I haven't decided why... but I was recently out for her bridal shower, and wanted to have "real" coffee. This cant be found in her little town, so we trekked to the next town to try this place. Groundhouse was able to calm my coffee anxiety..just knowing they were 10 minutes away was comforting ;) I went back for the wedding this past weekend and stopped in again (twice). The coffee is pretty good, the staff is nice, and I like the decor/ambiance. I don't think Ill ever be back in the state of Kansas... but we had a good thing while it lasted. Thanks, XO read more

I visited Groundhouse on a Monday morning. It has a very typical suburban coffeehouse vibe with lots of comfortable seating, tables with power outlets and wood and exposed brick everywhere. It's very clean with a ton of room. I felt comfortable 'camping' for a little while without worrying that I would be taking seats from other paying customers. The music was typical coffeehouse faire at a volume that makes conversation possible at a reasonable volume. Very nice. Staff was friendly and prompt. I had a drip coffee with a cinnamon roll. Both items were very good. Free coffee refills are an added bonus. Groundhouse uses high-quality Parisi coffee from Kansas City, MO. The food selection is pretty sparse with a half dozen baked goods in a chilled case by the register. I would expect a little more from a place so large, but you can't fault them for what is still a nice selection of options. I'll visit here as often as I'm in the area and next time I'll try a more complicated drink. read more

Best coffee house...ever! Only downside is that the lines can be long. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Coffee, tea, cold or hot and amazing hot chocolate. Lots of flavors and syrups give you many options. They are expanding and now offer crepes. I have celiac so I can't eat them.. yet.. But I hear they are wonderful. I also hear once they get them up and gong for awhile they are going to test gluten free options. Great atmosphere. I have reserved the back table for a bible study before. You'll often see students in there studying and doing homework. I've never witnessed anyone inappropriate or rude. They sometimes have live music too! Awesome! We love Groundhouse!! read more
