I am having trouble now with Groundworks. I really wish I read these reviews. I do not recommend this company. They started the work on 12/11/25 and still waiting for them to finish. Communication is lousy, keep switching crews that never come prepared for the job. I have big holes dug in my yard with water in them. All I keep hearing when I call is that I will pass the info along and when do talk to someone they don't seem concerned. Now they want to show up on the day it will be raining just to push this project back. I keep asking about repairs to cracks that were originally discussed and now I feel like they will not get done. They keep talking about making progress-but everything looks the same and the crew has really spent one full day there because the other 2 days left early within 2 hrs. A two Day project is now turning into weeks. I feel like I keep getting the run around . I do feel like I'm being over charged and they not bringing there right workers out to get this job done. Communication in a job like this is important which this company truly lacks. Obvious they don't send pics of there work because everyone telling me they almost done and they nowhere near done. I guess I'm not of the elite clientale to get my job done and get it done right. read more

They gave me a "free" check up. Recommended a $5,300 system to replace the BQ system installed 5 years ago for $7,000. WHY? My secondary pump failed their test. A master plumber came in, and said "everything is working fine" GET A SECOND AND/OR THIRD OPINION. read more

Their estimator spent an inordinate amount of time checking out our simple problem and then tried to sell us a vastly larger project we didn't want and didn't need, for an exhorbitant price. we hired them to raise a concrete patio. [[HIGHLIGHT]]they originally scheduled us for July 23, however, they contacted us for an earlier date of June 18.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On June 17th they advised that there was a family emergency and would reschedule for June 24.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On June 24, after several calls to them, it was too hot and they will come on June 27. (It was the first day of a heat wave, so understandable.)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On Friday 6/27/25 around noontime we called to confirm that were actually coming and were told we were on the schedule and they had another job to finish. At 5:00 pm, they finally showed up. It took them 45 minutes to get up the driveway with our help, looked at the job and then spent 45 minutes on the phone. They drilled 4 holes in my cement and tried to fill one spot, then they had problems with the sprayer on their truck and tried to fix it for 45 minutes because it kept clogging. Then advised they would be back the next day. The next day after more calls to them we were finally told they are not coming back and cannot do the job. Very disappointing they left us in a mess. We have been trying to get an answer as to why, since the workers really did not try to do this job. Tyrell and his team did an outstanding job. They installed the drainage system in my basement quickly and effectively. They cleaned up as well as they could have and even helped out with a few small things (punctured waste pipe) as they were doing the installation. Their price was also very competitive with other companies. We got 3 quotes, and all were in line with one another. Update as of July 2024: the company contacted us, rescheduled and came and added more foam under our concrete. The foreman was pleasant, helpful, and explained how best to add foam strategically under the concrete without drilling extra holes. I appreciate that even after a bumpy road, the company did come back and finish everything very well. DO NOT USE THEM!!! Their salesman was personable, informative, had a tablet presentation that made the company seem reputable and good at what they do. WRONG. The installers came out to fill in some gaps under our concrete, and seemed like they were in a rush to get to the next job. Without letting me inspect their work, they handed me the papers to sign and rushed off. Then, I realized there were still VISIBLE gaps under our concrete that their foam did not fill, but the company has a 5 year warranty on all their work so I figured it would be ok and we could have the issue fixed. ALSO WRONG. I tried calling multiple times, multiple numbers, and after 10+ phone calls I was able to make an appointment to have their shoddy work fixed and the remaining gaps filled. THEY DID NOT SHOW UP FOR THEIR APPOINTMENT. No phone call, no apologies, no re-rescheduling. Do not use Groundworks/BQ Basements!!! read more

In 2020, we had BQ Basements come out to our home in Philadelphia to do an estimate for an excavation job in my basement. I have a very old home (built circa 1880), and when they added the shed kitchen circa 1950, they built it atop a bunch of dirt that currently sits in my crawlspace, causing all kinds of problems. The rep from BQ was very cordial and nice. They promptly came out for a consultation. Unfortunately, the $ was much higher than we could pay at the time, especially during the beginnings of the pandemic when we were both out of work. We told them we would get back in touch if the situation changed. Fast forward to 2021. We decided, okay we've got the $ now, let's make the plan happen. We get back in touch with BQ...or....try to. They don't get back to me at this point for weeks. When I finally wrangle them, the original rep contacts me and says they need to come out and do a re-assessment of the property. I told them nothing has changed, but they insist. Scheduling this takes an additional 2 weeks. Finally, the rep comes, takes a look and discovers that yes, the basement is in the exact same condition it was in one year ago. He tells me that they will schedule me soon, and leaves. Then comes the scheduling part. I had re-contacted them in early September...by this time it is now mid October, 6 weeks later. We had been talking about shooting for mid December. Now they tell me that the ONLY day they can do is New Year's Eve. I tell them politely that that won't work. They say okay, how about January 21st, and I say okay sounds good, please send over the paperwork. When I go to sign the document, I see clear as day, the date of service is listed as December 31st, 2021. New Year's Eve. I Email the rep to inform him of the mistake and request a new contract, but this time, I get an automatic bounceback Email saying that the Email address has encountered an error and the mail cannot be delivered. I then move to text, saying, again...politely, "It seems that your Email address is not working. The date in the contract is wrong. Could you please fix and resend? Thank you." A week goes by. No reply via Email or text. I leave a voicemail at the business. No reply. I'm thinking, wow...I'm really going to give this company thousands of dollars and trust them with possibly the structural integrity of my kitchen, and they can't even get the date of the contract correct, OR answer me when I inform them? After reading the other negative experiences people had with BQ Basements, and weighing my options, I decided to pull the plug. 8 days after receiving no reply, I called the office and explained the situation to the operator, politely informing them that we would like to cancel the service. The operator seemed surprised and said that someone "Would DEFINITELY be reaching out to me." At the time of writing this Yelp Novel™, the aforementioned text message to the Rep was sent over 2 weeks ago, and still has not been replied to. The phone call to cancel the service was one week ago. Not a single soul has made any attempt to reach out. I find it surprising that they don't care about their business enough to communicate, and I wonder if this is how they run things, what other corners they are cutting on projects. Hoping that relaying all the details of this complete waste of my time and energy might help others when choosing who to hire for their basement needs. We used BQ Basements & Concrete for a three part job: adding structural support to our porch, repairing the front walkway where the tree had lifted the cement, and repairing our front steps. The crew who put support beams in our basement - Antonio, Dave, and Dan were thorough and professional and cleaned the area up well when done. The crew who came out to repair the front walkway, Rob, etc. did a decent job with that. Erik and his crew came out to caulk the front porch and side of the house and did a good job; Erik was easy to work with and knowledgeable. Mike G, the field supervisor came out to make some repairs and was professional and helpful as well. Ultimately, they were not able to lift the front steps as we had hoped, but they did appreciate our disappointment, and Mike G. did work on making it right by us. read more

Zach immediately identified the problem and , in addition, came up with great ideas for remedies beyond what had been done in the past. Still under warranty, Groundworks corrected the issue free of charge. Further, Tyrell and his team did the re-install quickly, cleanly, respectfully, and with pride in their work. The basement waterproofing market is filled with competition. Got an estimate from BQ to encapsulate crawl space under family room. This review is solely for the crew sent to do the work. I'll update later on the functionality of the system since we hope it will help to warm the living space above as it was always a couple of degrees lower than the rest of the house in that room. Bill, Rahas and Tyrique showed up on time and removed all the old insulation and material that was in the space, laid the vapor barrier and insulated the walls with the rigid foam insulation. We hired BQ basement after recieving estimates from serval companies to address flooding in our garage and laundry room. They were quick to communicate for this part of the process and responsive. The work that was done wasn't done properly. According to the quote the channel should have extended the length of the garage and it doesn't, also the "XL" channel is only 2" wide and is set in cement so can't be removed to access debris that may clog the drain. As the channel that was created isn't wide enough or long enough, when it rains (thunderstorm type rain) the water breeches the channel. I don't know if the crew installed the wrong channel - or if they didn't care, but the end result is that we are thousands of dollars out of pocket with a garage that still; floods.On top of all of this, because they told us that we didn't need to have anything done to deal with the runoff from the driveway we now have a small lake that forms and sits at the bottom of the driveway after it rains. In addition the crew that did the work were very friendly but left a lot of concrete mess - splatters and dust. I have called the service number repeatedly and have yet to be contacted by anyone from BQ basement. We feel particularly stupid for not further investigating the company - I have scrolled through several other reviews of work that seems to have been done as poorly as ours was. read more

This wasn't our best experience. We were having a problem with our sidewalk leading up to the entrance of our house. The slab closest to the porch had sunk about an inch on one corner and was funneling rainwater down to the basement. We contacted four contractors about this problem and decided that concrete leveling was a less expensive solution than replacement. We chose BQ Basement Systems based on their reviews on Angie's List and their 10-year warranty. The sales rep was polite and recommended leveling the front walk, the sidewalk by the garage, and our front porch. The front walk and garage sidewalk were incorrectly pitched toward the house but we don't know why the front porch needed leveling. They were also going to caulk several of the sidewalk joints. The leveling process definitely corrected the problems we were having with the sinking concrete and water in the basement. But the workmanship was shoddy and the cleanup afterwards was unacceptable. Some of the holes they drilled were not filled level with the rest of the sidewalk. They dripped some of the chemicals all over the front sidewalk. We realized later that these chemicals stained the sidewalk and cannot be removed. They also managed to spray some of the foam into a flower bed and onto our vinyl siding, again difficult to remove. We ended up calling them 5 times to come and remove the stains and the foam. They did show up but they were completely unsuccessful in resolving the problems. We were able to remove the foam from the vinyl siding ourselves but the stains remain. So now we have level concrete with unsightly stains and it looks horrible. Avoid using this company. read more

I can't say how disappointed I am with BQ basements, first when their salesman Joe Smith came to my house, I was given an installation date of approximately 2 weeks from when I gave my deposit, then the postponing started, next set appointment 1 month, then 2 months, I got so fed up that I cancelled the job, my quote was a total of $1,800, broken down to $300 for power washing and sealant, and $1,500 for the concrete work, I canceled the job obviously, next thing I know, they are trying to charge me an extra $315 dollars above the $360 I already gave them for 15 minutes of power washing which I was quoted a total of $300. Next there is a woman in their company named Margaret McGonigle who calls herself Brand Ambassador/Customer Resolution, her real title should be extortionist, if this is the way they treat their customers, all I can say is STAY AWAY, they sound good at first, then basically are trying to rip me off, next stop Better Business Bureau of complaints, do not trust this company whatsoever, buyer beware!!! David Porter came to assess issues I was having with water seeping through the foundation walls in my new home because my builder was not being responsive. David spent two hours at my home, evaluating the issues inside and outside, including by reviewing other homes currently under construction in my development. He was knowledgeable, explained all of the issues he had identified in a way I could easily understand, came up with a detailed plan for addressing not only the leaking walls, but also the hydrostatic pressure surrounding my home that was causing the leaking in the first place. Looking for some concrete lifting. Had there salesman Dave come out to look at what I wanted. He was great said they could do it and I gave him a deposit. When it was time for them to do the job they were no call no show. I had to call the office even though I was supposed to be the first job. They rescheduled for the next day. Eric came out and said he didn't feel confident on doing the job. Said he feared blowing out the steps. So he didn't do the job. He came across that he just didn't want to do the job to begin with. So I had to call the office again and explain the situation and they said I'm not the first to say this about Eric. I don't know what the salesman and the installer saw differently. Then even though they deposited my check immediately it took me two weeks to get my deposit back. They lack communication on every level. This was my first and last experience with them.
