Summary: Growscapes did an excellent job upgrading our backyard to be more both low maintenance and water efficient. It's been eight weeks since the work was done and we are still in love with what we see. Details: Growscapes was one of two companies we contacted for estimates on redoing our small (little more than 300 sq feet) backyard. Getting an appointment was easy and after meeting with Joe I had an estimate in under 24 hours. Joe had no problem making changes with respect to plants to put in etc. Their estimate was about the same as the other companies, however we appreciated the extra attention to detail that Joe provided. Once we settled on the final work to be done it was a few weeks before they could find time on their schedule, however this wasn't unexpected as Joe had told me the lead time in advance. The day before the work was done, he and Jose came out to confirm what plants were being removed as well as the other work to be done. The actual work took two days - most of it being on the first day. We appreciate that after doing an initial staging of the plants they let us rearrange some to our wishes. This included even doing a last minute swap out for one plant that didn't look good. The team did a great job cleaning up after themselves. After installing the new drip irrigation Jose took the time to let us know what watering schedule to set up. Their invoice stated all materials come with 30 day warranty and we can attest to that including plants. One of our succulents wasn't looking all that good after a few weeks and I contacted Joe to see about getting it replaced. He said to wait a bit to see if it would pick up, when it hadn't after a few more weeks he had someone come out and replace it. From first consultation throughout the process and after completion, Growscapes considers the client at every step. Above and beyond doesn't begin to describe their customer service. We took both yards lawn-to-garden. They worked with me to select plants and determine plant placement. I wanted a combination of Mediterranean and other drought tolerant plants. They absolutely delivered. They kept the existing landscaping that I wanted to keep (trees, a rock garden, and an old geranium). They installed a mixture of surfaces: 30 x 30 added to my entry walkway, Del Rio Pebble, decomposed granite, and artificial turf. They adapted my existing irrigation system from broadcast to drip. I had some drainage problems in both yards, they installed two different systems that handled this winter's atmospheric river perfectly. The workers showed up on time and cleaned up before they left. They wrapped the whole job from demo of the old yards to installation of the new irrigation systems, plantings and surfaces in nine days! They will work with you to make you happy. I had an irrigation problem pop up after they had finished the job; they returned and fixed the problem in an incredibly timely fashion. I gotta give Growscapes the highest praise. We had a failing irrigation system, which led to not being able to water the grass in the front and threatening HOA letters. We wanted the grass out anyway, so Joe with Growscapes came out (when he said he would), and gave a fair estimate. Joe always responded to calls/texts in a very reasonable amount of time, he and his crew showed up when they said they would, they pulled out the grass, planted what we agreed on, were respectful of my preferences on plants and placement, and finally they fixed the irrigation system so it works like new. The tree on the lawn which we kept caused some trouble with its roots, but the crew fixed the problems and handled it well. This was done in 2 days, on the days he said they'd be here. The price of the whole thing was very reasonable. We're really happy with the whole experience, and relieved it was so easy. Oh and Joe gave me some great gardening tips as well. They responded very quickly compared to most places I contacted. Additionally, Joe was able to come out and provide a quote in only couple days turnaround. We had worked with Joe last year on another project (adding decomposed granite with agave plants to our parkway and sod in the backyard) and were so pleased we reached out to him again. After we completely remodeled our pool and removed some large planters in the backyard, we were in need of landscaping in a long on-grade planter along our back wall. A month ago I contacted 3 different landscape companies tk help my Mom with her irrigation issues. We needed to replace some valves, introduce drip channels to certain areas and also do a complete irrigation modification so that all landscape was getting proper coverage. I could instantly tell by speak to the company owner that he was a high character gentlemen and honest person. He was able to do a walk thru the next day and knowing that it was for my elder mother, he took mote ownership to ensure that the outcome would be perfect and to her liking. Beyond happy with Growscapes!! Response time is same day if they are out on another job, they will call you back right away. Email is equally responsive. One thing that stood out to me was when Joe and co-worker came out, they did not make me feel rushed. They answered all my questions and were quite knowledgeable about plants and what would work. They listen to you but also have great suggestions as well. I did not ever fell 'upsold.' My job was by no means a big job but I felt just as important. The team that came out did everything that they said they would, they came on time, were friendly and efficient. They have to remove a huge bush out back and took care not to disturb the plants around it. I had 4 small trees planted and all of my soil was re-mulched.
