I have been going to Grubby Dogs for well over 5 years. Deborah and team are amazing! My dog, Marley, is 80+ lbs, 14 years old and has bad knees. They are so caring and gentle with her. I would add patient as she is a bear to trim her nails! Even though she's old, she's still got some fire in her! So, my dog, Chopper, is the most fearful, anxious dog when it comes to 1. Strangers and 2. Grooming. It took my family, the only people he's comfortable with, an entire year to be able to cut his hair (and even then that's only me and my mother doing it TOGETHER). But even then we can't cut his hair even or do a style and we DEFINITELY can't cut his nails without him crying and us collapsing into an anxious mess. So. Finally, I decided, after five years of tedious and patient socialization with strangers, that I could try to take Chopper to a groomers. They let me stay in the lobby (not allowed behind the doors) and I heard him fuss and cry and be afraid but after about 15 minutes, he stopped. I heard them consoling him, talking to him and they even came out to update me occasionally. When Chopper came back out, he looked UNBELIEVABLY amazing. He was so happy and bouncing and not at all fearful (although he did have a scary time!) I will be taking him here for shorter sessions so that he can continue to get used to the amazing groomers here and hopefully he'll get to a space where he won't cry even once when he gets groomed. In terms of price, it was extremely reasonable. Usually it's $55 for bathing, cutting, nail trimming, but I paid $65 for the extra handling and time my dog needed (which is a LOT less than what I thought it'd be). I highly recommend this place! Even with my difficult dog, who bites and barks and cries, he came out with an excellent cut, no sign of harsh handling and absolutely happy. read more

I am so happy to have found Amy at Grubby Dogs!! I had been taking my pup to another groomer down the street for a couple of years, but I ended up having a bad experience the last time and decided it was time to branch out and find a new groomer. Anyone that has a dog that need frequent grooming knows how important it is to find a groomer that you can trust and that will get to know you and your pup. I took a chance and scheduled an appointment at Grubby Dogs and lucked out being assigned to Amy for our first appointment. I could not have asked for a better experience, honestly. My dog is a Papillion/Jack Russell mix about 15 pounds when chunky and she has soft flowy hair that grows very quickly, especially in the warmer months which is all year long here in Southern California. I am not overly particular about how her hair is cut, but I do like to get it pretty short, just above shaved for the most part, but to keep some length on her tail and behind her ears to keep her more Papillion traits. My biggest concern when taking my dog to a new groomer is her nails... She will not let me trim her nails and throws an angry fit everytime I try to. So needless to say, I am always afraid that she will act the same way when a groomer tries to do her nails. I always make sure the groomer knows that they can muzzle her if they ever need to from the beginning, it is incredibly anxiety inducing for me. Luckily I have never had a groomer tell me that she gives them trouble doing her nails!! And they Dremel nails so you don't end up with super sharp edges in the end. Amy made a point to meet with me at each drop off to go through exactly what I was looking for and any questions I had were confidently answered. My dog seems to love Amy. Even when she was nervous entering the shop for her second appointment, she immediately started wagging her tail when she saw Amy and cheered up thoroughly. Everytime I have picked her up she is happy as can be and not at all upset or anxious. I HIGHLY recommend Amy and Grubby Dogs as a whole, as each person has been amazing to interact with from the receptionist to any of the groomers. read more

The first visit was nice staff was polite second visit was the complete opposite. Groomer didn't take notes then cut my dogs hair incorrectly when I mentioned it she was surprised. They tried to up charge me for a first time visit which according to them is a discounted price but then changed it to a full price. As long as you don't give them contrive criticism they are happy the moment you do your turned into the bad guy weeks past after my second visit and out of the blue I get a call telling me that my dogs and I aren't welcome back no reason or cause. I tried to state my case and ask for answers and was told just kick rocks. I was polite each visit and may have been rash when I was told the later part but I was thrown off bye this being a veteran myself I try to give business to veteran owned businesses and this is the treatment another vet gives another vet. Had our two dogs, Bilbo & Chloe groomed. They got a bath, ears cleaned, nails trimmed, anal glands expressed and teeth cleaned. Neither of our dogs require haircuts. The pups were very hesitant to step foot in the door, but the staff were great with welcoming them in a getting them to relax a little. They handled the dogs very well. They quoted approximately an hour and half and were right on time with their quote. When I picked them up I've never seen such good looking dogs! They felt so nice and soft and smelled delicious.
