My daughter and I stopped into grumps at 8 PM. I get it an hour before closing ....but that really shouldn't make a difference in the quality of the food. We ordered two bacon cheeseburgers, fried pickles, and french fries. The wait was about 10 minutes which was expected. they're cooking food. However, in that 10 minutes I would've expected the french fries and the pickles to come out hot like the hamburger ...Instead I think they were fried the day before we got there. The d dried fried pickles were super super overly salty and dead cold not frozen but fried maybe the day before we ordered them? the french fries were barely lukewarm. We did not finish either one we ate maybe 3/4 of the french fries and the pickles. We each ate about four and decided that they were cold rockhard and too salty so we didn't eat those However the saving grace was that our hamburgers were excellent so I gave this place two stars because if you're going to prepare a hamburger hot, I would think that you would throw down the french fries and the fried pickles at the same time so that it all comes to the pass hot. Lukewarm french fries, old cold fried the day before pickles, straight up old and cold so I would go to this place in order only the hamburger and pass on the sides. It's apparent to me that whoever cooked and also served this meal could've cared less about what they brought to our table. read more

The kids can play Wiffle ball behind the restaurant in the fenced ball field, while the family chats at picnic tables nearby in the alfresco area. Or, if you prefer you can sit at one of the comfortable booths inside. Either way, you're sure to enjoy your dining experience. We've eaten here a couple times but this is my first review. We ordered lunch takeout last Friday. I forgot what burger hubby got but he really likes their sweet potato fries. I ordered the Swiss Mushroom burger on a jalapeño bun with grilled onions and the pickle chips. I didn't taste any heat or jalapeños from the bun which was a disappointing. The burger was awesome as always but the pickle chips are now my favorite and IMO the best around! I was awestruck that my hubby picked up the food, ran an errand then drove home to deliver me my food and eat his. It had been over 30 minutes and the pickles were still so crispy as it would be in the restaurant. I was shocked bc usually any fried food that sits for a while quickly becomes limp and the breading becomes soft but not these. I wish I knew what kind of batter they used bc it held up perfectly by the time I ate it. Sooo good! Grumps burgers are always satisfying and hit the spot. Support local businesses! If you are even close you gotta stop . My Veterinarian is there so when we drive from Mansfield to see Dr. Esposito this is a stop . Leave our dog for him and make the run for a delish burger . I took my mom down with me and she is 72 and says that's one of the best burgers she every had . Generous with the toppings and she said the bun is a " better" bun I don't know what that means . Yes...it was totally our fault. We waited until the absolute last minute to head that way. They close at 9 p.m. on Saturday night, which sort of surprised me until we got there. We strolled in at 8:50 p.m. and they treated us like Royals! Seriously, they just lock the front door at 9 p.m.; we were there easily till 9:45 with other folks. I think I have a little crush on the guy behind the counter. He told me I ordered the "best burger ever" because I had the Queso burger with green chilies and grilled onions. And he was right. The bun was toasted. The queso cheese was gooey and full of beef on TOP of my tasty beef patty which was perfectly cooked. The green chilies were substantial though probably canned. And my side of jalapeno chips with ranch dip was amazing--better than Jake's! And what's with calling the place Grumps? There wasn't a grumpy person in sight. I'm telling you, this is almost worth the drive to Granbury just to get it. I'm going to put it up there with Angry Dog in Dallas. Yep, THAT good. Note: all the peanuts you can eat. I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and now it's my favorite restaurant. This place is great! The food, the waitstaff, the atmosphere - it creates a wonderful place to eat! Their hamburgers are delicious and you have to try their homemade chips with homemade ranch dressing. (I like them crispy) it's absolutely delicious! I could make a meal out of those alone. Their staff is always so friendly and helpful. They're constantly refilling my soda and, when I get their delicious Blue Bell ice cream for dessert, they'll wait and bring it out whenever I'm ready for it. I've tried the Grumps in Cleburne, but it can't hold a candle to this place. Even the hamburgers taste better here. And the laughter and fun at this restaurant makes dining here a really fun night out. So, I'm repaying the favor a friend did for me.
