What a perfect spot. There are very little food options in the area. Anyone who lives or works near by is blessed to have this spot nearby! Everyone working there was friendly and kind, food is delicious.

I'm not sure what motivated me to come to this weekday breakfast/lunch counter spot. It's in the middle of a lot of blank-faced industrial buildings and off-the-grid offices as I walked away from Bayshore Blvd. toward Bayview. The area was so generic that I'm sure I didn't take the most direct path. I finally saw the sign with the ironic smiley face to go with their surly name. It was a little past 1:30PM when I arrived, plenty of time before their 2:30PM closing. But I was immediately informed they were closing and that I couldn't dine here. Well, OK then...I didn't whine about it but took it to go. They really need to update their hours. But anyway, I quickly ordered the $12.99 Chicken Teriyaki plate and didn't let the door hit me on the way out. I didn't drive over, so it wasn't like there was a nearby park or even a bus bench. Then I remembered passing by Hawker Alley where they have covered outdoor seating (review: https://bit.ly/3rHuld3). Normally I don't arbitrarily sit at another business and take advantage of their open tables. However, since only one table was occupied, I helped myself. The chicken teriyaki was on the goopy side, but it was decent enough because the poultry was tender with the expected rice and side salad complementary (photo: https://bit.ly/3OnBTuw). I just wish the teriyaki sauce was more marinated than ladled onto the chicken. It honestly reminded me of the type of plate I would have at an obon festival in my youth. FOOD - 3 stars...street fair-level chicken teriyaki AMBIANCE - 3 stars...fairly generic lunchroom for the three minutes I was there SERVICE - 2.5 stars...well... TOTAL - 3 stars...guess I need to come earlier, eh RELATED - Exploring Bayview? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://bit.ly/3AOvRKv

Teriyaki salmon was great, and the teriyaki chicken was pretty good though could've been toasted a bit longer with more sauce. California rolls were great, exactly what you'd expect/want. Tempura was amazing and we were given a lot on each of the dinner combos. Miso soup and side salads were good and fitting. Spicy BBQ pork was flavorful, though not very spicy (which isn't a big deal). Only small complaint was the over abundance of onion included with the spicy BBQ pork, but overall not a problem. Would definitely recommend this place to others!

The menu is pretty extensive, we noticed a lot of the rolls have cream cheese in them so if that's your thing, come by. Overall, the food was solid, but nothing special. Turned out to be about $50 for 2 rolls and an order of gyoza. Service was quick since we were the only ones in there, but we had to get their attention. For the price and quality, and service I think I'd rather go elsewhere. But if you're looking for sushi with quick service in the area, this place is still solid.

If you come around 8pm, you likely won't have to wait long since the dinner rush tends to slow down by then. Some of the best seats are near the entrance where you can watch the sushi chefs preparing the food. When we arrived, the staff brought complimentary edamame for the table while we looked over the menu. I appreciate when edamame isn't overloaded with salt, and they did a great job keeping it simple and flavorful. I love spicy food, so my friend and I split the spicy tuna roll, the hot girl roll, and the baked scallop roll. Each one was delicious, but the hot girl roll was my favorite. It's topped with spicy tuna and jalapeños and had the perfect kick. The baked scallop roll came out hot and gooey, covered in a sweet garlic sauce that paired really well with the scallops. The restaurant is also vegetarian-friendly, which is one of the reasons we chose it. My partner ordered the avocado maki, veggie dragon roll, and the futo maki. His favorite was the veggie dragon roll, which includes avocado and eggplant. The futo maki wasn't as much of a hit for him, but that may just be because he's not a big fan of radish. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place for the quality of the food and the welcoming service. It's located in a small shopping center with its own parking lot, which is a big plus since you don't have to worry about finding street parking.

It's definitely a popular spot on the weekends as we had to wait a bit each time before a table became free for us. There's a bit of outdoor seating, but hey.. Brisbane gets cold and foggy at night, but if you have a four legged friend with you, that's the proper way to go.. We come here as a party of six a couple of times now. The service and food quality was consistently good with attentive friendly prompt service both times. Busy sushi counter with three sushi chefs slicing and dicing away! Highlights here for me were the big thick super fresh pieces of sushi (Toro, Salmon and Albacore), and the Tonkatsu Pork Curry Rice. Though the menu seems vast, I didn't really encounter anything that I didn't enjoy. The Dragon and "Heart Attack" rolls were perfect. Everything was just on point or better. Well... wait.. I didn't think the Sushi Tacos were that great, as they were unexpectedly spicy and fall apart rather easily. Eh.. I'll master that maybe next time. Lots of angled parking out in front. I wouldn't mind coming back here anytime. It's a bustling busy place in otherwise sleepy Brisbane!

The first time I came here, I got the strawberry matcha latte with my friends. We ordered it via delivery on DoorDash, and I'm not sure if it's just the whole delivery part, but I could not taste any part of the strawberry! It just tasted like regular cream on top. Typically I'm more of a coffee person than matcha, so I'm not a great judge in whether this was good matcha or not. But I guess it did taste ok in my opinion. The funny thing is, my coworker also said the same thing when she ordered the strawberry matcha latte a separate time! Disappointing. A separate time, we also ordered from them via delivery. This time I was eager to try their food items instead, since they have a pretty interesting selection, like those cake sandwiches and various Japanese items. I got the spam masubi, which I thought would be a solid choice. It did arrive warm, but the slice of spam that was in the masubi was so thin! It was the thinnest piece of spam I had ever gotten, and I've gotten spam masubis at a variety of places including ABC stores and other places in Hawaii, and even various stores in the States. The rice was okay, some brown rice thing with seasoning, that was decent but not my preferred white rice. Overall my two times here have been disappointing. I will really never line up for this place in person, nor will I understand why people do.

Maybe it was just what we ordered but I felt like everything was really oily/greasy. The freshest items were the negitoro roll and the potato salad they gave to us at the start for free. Yes, it's an izakaya, but we found ourselves struggling to continue eating the plates since it felt so heavy. Sure, maybe we didn't order the right stuff, but lots of the menu items are deep fried, stir-fried, or grilled also. We enjoyed the cumin lamb skewers and the negitoro the best! We were disappointed in the truffle poppers as each bite was more filled with fried breading than mushrooms. The dessert was beautiful and we did enjoy that. We ended up paying like 100pp including tax and tip. There are many Japanese izakayas I can pay less for in San Francisco including a la carte at Rintaro! But anyways, shoutout to the hostess lady, she's a boss.

I came here at the recommendation of a friend in the neighborhood, and honestly, my thoughts about…read morethe place so far are that the food and experience were average. Everything about the ordering process and the quality of the food itself was good but not great. There was no wow factor or anything that left me feeling extra motivated to return, but I also wouldn't be opposed if I were nearby and craving onigiri. There's a single kiosk in-store to order at, but you can also place an order with the person working the counter if it's not too busy. I wasn't sure what I wanted immediately, so I waited for one of my friends to finish before ordering. I added 1 unagi eel, 1 unagi onigiri, and 1 crab onigiri to my basket and checked out. I have absolutely no idea what's the difference between "unagi eel" and "unagi onigiri", and when I went to pick up my order, the staff member told me my order was two unagi and one crab. However, I was charged $4.50 for the unagi eel and $4.30 for the unagi onigiri, so go figure. I could not detect a difference between the two, and the price of each averaged out to $4.40, so it's whatever. I unwrapped one of the unagi onigiris to eat in-store as we waited for a Zoox to arrive. It was actually pretty difficult to extricate the seaweed and rice ball filling in one piece to consume together, which I presume is because the onigiris are each made-to-order and due to the freshness, the separate ingredients haven't had a chance to marinate and congeal together. As I had not eaten all day, I quickly devoured the onigiris before and after our short ride back to a café where some of our other friends were waiting. The onigiris were, as I mentioned before, pretty standard minus the fact they kind of fell apart. I would say if you like onigiris, then these will get the job done, but they're nothing exceptional, so keep your standards at baseline.
