This place was updated in a very tasteful way. The space looks clean and so much more spacious, there are even a few tables for indoor seating. We ordered chowmein and the fried fish and they were both super tasty. The staff are super friendly and prices reasonable. I will be back! read more

This time, I showed up around 11:30 and they weren't ready yet. They had fried rice, noodles, Chow fun and like 3 options but most of the food table was empty and it wasn't worth trying because of the limited options. They told me it was still cooking. Someone else reviewed this place recently with completely wrong prices (maybe their whole review was false and they only wanted to bash Biden), so I have added prices. $7 for two items and it's been like this for awhile. Last time I tried the food here, it was decent for the price. Had the meatless Chow Fun and a side of salt pepper pork bones. Portions were okay for $7. read more

They should change their name to TINY SCOOP after the recent ownership change, not only are the prices more expensive but their portions are ridiculously small now. We bought a $15 1 item with 2 entrees, we selected sweet and sour chicken (it was pork by the way which she had called chicken when we asked if it's chicken) and she only put 5 tiny pieces of it!!!! As the entree protein?!?! That is definitely not an entree portion. Then we asked for BBQ pork and they had beautiful nice big looking pieces but the lady then sheepishly took the piece to the back where we could NOT see, and cut us up literally only 5 tiny slices off the succulent BBQ pork!!! We thought "entree" would have meant 1 full piece of BBQ pork, not 5 literal paper thin slices that were silver dollar sized. Oh and don't get me started on the rice, her hand was literally SHAKING like she was worried her scooping was too much, well, I have pictures to prove it absolutely was NOT too much. We tipped well too, $15 + $5 tip in cash. We used to go to GIANT scoop because, well, they gave GIANT scoops. We would have minimum 2 meals from 1 takeout box previously but last night we literally had to cook up our own broccoli to support the laughable portion we were given. Probably not going back and unless they get their portion sizes corrected I don't foresee the new ownership doing very well. You won't be open long. read more

The prices seem to be kept intentionally low so nearby kids can come by after school and actually afford to buy something to eat. Trash! That's exactly where everything but the noodles went. I've been up since 4am (it's 12:40 as I'm writing this review) and was starving so I just put as much soy sauce as I could on the noodles and ate those. Everything was BLAND and flavorless. The fish and shrimp are a joke! It's MOSTLY batter, the fish and shrimp AREN'T seasoned and the shrimp isn't even cleaned all the way. Gross!!! What's more the plate is like $8 bucks but she handed me back $10 from my $20. Sales tax is 8.63% in SF. Sooooo, you're just gonna TAKE YOUR TIP, huh! Wow, I've been an active client of this eatery since 2015 but now have a long overdue review to share with you all! Firstly, this is a mom & pop biz that is run by a Chinese couple who are devout to their customers & have an amazing work ethic & relationship with the local community. Don't come in here expecting a ritzy shop with a chandelier & staff wearing tuxes! This is a mom & pop that scream out "hole in the wall " because it's take out only & has the hot Chinese Team Table Side on the right & the ice cream to the right. $2 for a tiny box of Chinese grub, $6.50 for a two item combo box, $1.25 for a scoop of ice cream & home made French fries that start at just $2 for a small batch! When I was struggling financially as a broke college student, this was one of my favorite meals! A full meal for less than $5! Their neighbor , Hong King BBQ used to have 50 Cents ice cream, but thanks to Bidenflation, that is now history. Haven't been here in so long... I haven't been here since high school and it's still the same! The shop is still run by a middle-aged Asian couple. They're so sweet and nice. The food might not be the best but it is consistently decent. There's not much to complain for what you get and what you pay for. don't get me started with the price. I don't think anywhere else would sell a pound of food for less than $10. If you want to get full and have a decent meal, I recommend giving this spot a try. The food here is delicious and they give large portions. Very affordable and the owners are very nice. There is only one table inside so we usually take our food to go. LONG OVERDUE REVIEW! This restaurant brings me back to my childhood! I used to always go to this place during middle school with all my friends because the food was not only very affordable for us during the time, but it was also very yummy. If I was a poor college student or just a middle school kid, I would put this place as my #1 eating spot. The ice cream brand is Crystal (which I recognized when I was in Humbolt County). The ice cream is smooth. $1.25 for two scoops. The taste wasn't distinctively green tea or coffee. Maybe it was too cold for me to taste it. The two items with one choice of either rice, flat noodles, or chow mein. It was worth it and they weren't stingy! The lady was very nice. Yes, the place looks dumpy, but I'm not paying for the decor. This is your "mom and pop" place. You are coming to a family owned place. Everything looked fresh. The fried chicken strips were good. My friend's parents own this restaurant! I have been coming here for the longest time, ever since I was in elementary school. This place is making me second guess Yelp. I went in bc i read the ice cream was yummy and cheap and now that I live in HP I'm trying out the nearby spots. Walking in the place was a mess. There were boxes everywhere and it looked like somebody's kitchen rather than a cafe. The ice cream looked old and icy. I got a scoop of coffee ice cream for $.65. It was a total waste of the calories. My husband was hungry so he got the combo and it tasted average. I wouldn't have let him order food there but the health report on the wall stated they got a score of 100. Good place to get filled up if you're on a super broke budget but i wouldn't go there again.
