My family went to catch some quick breakfast but ended up waiting a long time for our food to arrive. This deterred us initially, so after that we didn't come back for a while. A few weeks ago, my dad and I decided to give Grumpy's another chance. We came in at 8am on a Wednesday, expecting it to be slow but it was quite steady. Our server was attentive, and greeted us immediately. They explained the menu well so we ended up ordering an omelette and a Grumpy's big breakfast. We also ordered some OJ which was fresh squeezed and extremely refreshing. The food came out quickly and ended up being delicious. The big breakfast comes with eggs, a protein, a bread choice, and pancakes or waffles. It is similar to Metro Diner's Bissell, and was comparable to this classic breakfast in presentation and taste. I am so happy we gave Grumpy's a second chance because it was just what we needed to start our day... even the ambiance was perfect. Eggs were cooked as ordered, bacon was that perfect spot between chewy & crunchy, potatoes were great, a bit bold for some maybe but I liked them! I have been here a few months ago and wrote a review that the company replied to because there were issues at the time of my dining. We went at lunch time, so it was a little chaotic. We did get seated within 15 minutes using first available. Looking around, workers were working hard and trying to keep up with the crowd. We opted for outside and had a hustler for a server. I am ashamed I didn't get her name because she was good. She checked on us while we waited and paid close attention to others as well. I got the grilled fish with a side salad and green beans. My husband got Grumpy's Country Breakfast. The salad came out early which I appreciated and was a really nice salad for a side. Then our food came. My fish was very small and the waitress made mention and went to get another piece which was so appreciated as well. It had a good taste and flavor. My husband had to turn back his eggs because they wet he ordered ones and he had not gotten his extra hash browns. To the defense, the replacement came out quickly so in my book problems solved and we were very glad and it was corrected. As soon as you enter this restaurant, you are greeted by a the staff with a warm welcome. I actually expected a rude greeting with a name like Grumpy's so I was pleasantly surprised. We were immediately seated. The ambiance of the restaurant was very comforting and clean. We were greeted by a very cheerful waitress that explained the specials for the day and answered a few questions that we had about the menu. My wife ordered the blue berry cheesecake waffles and OMG, let me tell you, not only was a beautiful masterpiece but it was delicious according to my wife, my sister in law had the Philly Omelette with the home style potatoes...another delicious dish and I had the Big Grumpy Breakfast platter and other sister in law had a similar breakfast platter but smaller. Bottom line, all the food was delicious and the potion sizes will definitely leave you stuffed. I am very impressed that they also had a few parking spaces designated for military veterans... So much food! I was introduced to Grumpy's years ago thanks to a Yelp Elite event and I was hooked! Their handmade crab cakes and fried green tomatoes are some of my favorites, but I haven't had anything that I didn't like. I was so excited to hear they were coming to the beach!!! Getting to Orange Park for breakfast isn't easy for me. John and I stopped in yesterday for breakfast and we were stuffed and didn't come close to finishing everything. I ordered the #1 breakfast- just eggs, bacon and a biscuit and 2 eggs looked like 4 eggs! I added a side order of crab cakes- because you absolutely need to! John got the #2 eggs, hashbrowns, bacon & toast and my goodness we were food overwhelmed. Service was stellar. This location is so close to home and I am absolutely thrilled. Convinced my friends to come try this place out today. They had an unfortunate experience at a different location with the same name so they were hesitant to come. Happy to say that they were happy they came out. Completely different experience for them. They agreed that service and food are amazing here. Alani was our server and she took great care of us not to mention several other employees who came to check on us as well. Everyone was pleasant and helpful and you'd never know they've only been open a few days with how smoothly they have things running. Quality and taste was consistent and we will definitely return. We ordered one of the daily specials because Alani said their spaghetti was amazing. She wasn't lying. It was delicious and portion was very generous. It came with garlic toast and a side as well. The turkey plate was also ordered and I'm told it was a perfect "practice" meal gearing up for Thanksgiving next week. Coffee tasted great and the hot chocolate is a hot chocolate lover's dream. Our first time here was today, the day after Christmas. There was a good crowd but was able to get a spot at the counter right away which is FCFS. Great breakfast spots at the beach are always welcome and this one didn't disappoint. The food was great and the servings were huge. Come hungry if you come otherwise you'll be taking some with you. It was fairly priced especially for the amount of food that you get. I always see the one on 210 crowded no matter what time of morning so I was excited to finally try it out. Super excited to have Grumpy's at the beach! We went in for a late lunch and all four of us were happy and full when we left! The decor is modern farmhouse with plenty of booths and the most adorable round table that looks like it seats 8! The service was perfect and the food was perfect diner food! We ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch, the portions on all the meals was great! I ordered the seafood omelette, it was filled with shrimp, topped with two small crab cakes and covered with hollandaise. One thing I would change is putting the sauce under the crab cakes so they don't get soggy. The flavor was delicious and I ended up bringing half of it home since the portion was large. My daughter ordered the kids pancake breakfast, the portion was definitely large enough for an adult so we all took a bite of the fluffy pancake! My son ordered the fish plate, grouper blackened with 2 sides. The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the shepherds pie, it was ok, he likes more flavoring in the meat portion but the gravy on top added to the overall meal. My favorite thing was the fried green tomatoes! The sauce for dipping is so good, a little spicy so it's the perfect compliment to the tart tomatoes.
