They told us about their specials and got us drinks and coffee fast and kept it full! I ordered the meatloaf, which isn't my typical brunch order but my god was it worth it! My fiancé went for the breakfast sandwich and they easily substituted turkey sausage for the bacon. She finished the whole thing! She said it was the best food she has eaten in Jax! We also got a side of fries and pancakes which were incredible! What's even more incredible is that the prices were soooo good! We spoke with the owner and she said it was a scratch kitchen so I'm not surprised it was so delicious! We went back again and opted for an Italian Sausage Omelette and Pancakes and were once again amazed! They even gave me a free Cinnamon Bun for my Birthday which tasted like someone Holly made it for me! It brought me closer to God to be honest! Came here on a Monday at 11 just to try their food. Food: I ended up getting the fried chicken eggs benedict on a biscuit with crispies on the side (fried home fries with cheese and jalapenos). AND got a cinnamon roll. Let me tell you the food was delicious and a LOT. If you are ordering for one just order 1 dish and you are good. I ended up taking 3/4 of the crispies home because I was so stuffed. The fried chicken doesn't have any extra flavoring in the batter BUT with the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, it was delicious and super filling. Would highly recommend it if you are up for quite the hearty meal. Lastly, the warm cinnamon roll was DELICIOUS. If you are ordering an actual meal maybe share the cinnamon roll with someone. Just my recommendation. Place: It was actually pretty busy when I got there which I was not expecting for a Monday. But I still got my table right away Parking: They have a parking lot on the back. It is like a one way U so just enter the right place. It was pretty much full when I arrived, found a spot or two with the right turnover. Staff: A++. Head a very friendly waitress who was awesome. Her name is Cassandra and she needs a raise. But really everyone was friendly and accommodating even though they were busy. The 5th star was definitely because of her. COVID: All of the staff is wearing masks and there is hand sanitizer in the front. Just with rising numbers, it is a little too crowded for my taste (no fault of the restaurant itself but more us as a community as a whole). The food is always delicious here. This has become my families favorite brunch place. The kids love Grumpy and how the theme is weaved into all aspects of the dining experience, including getting a Grumpy tattoo. We love the food, and the friendly staff that always shows personality when they serve. The fresh Orange juice juicer is also pretty cool. My favorite is the seafood omelette. It comes with shrimp, topped with two crab cakes and Hollandaise sauce. My boys like the chicken & waffles, and the pancake breakfast. My husband gets the Grumpy's big breakfast. We are never disappointed. This last visit my food came out a little late; and my crab cakes and hash browns were over done. They immediately remedied the situation. Without me ever asking for the manager, she came to our table and apologized. She then gave us a gift certificates to use on our current or next visit. I tell you they always get it right, even when they get it wrong. I will definitely be going back, and highly recommend Grumpy's. I had been here years ago and was near by. It's always packed and the reason shines through once you visit. We were lucky and got seated right away. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Coffee never went dry and stayed fresh. The place was hopping, but the staff handled it quite well shuffling people in and out! Our order came out pretty quickly even though it was crowded. I got the Denver Omelette with fruit. This omelette was full of meat, cheese and veggies. Large and cooked to perfection. I opted for fruit although they have many side options. It was fresh and sweet. My husband had The Country Breakfast, which he had eggs added cheese, crispy bacon, added bacon and half a Belgian waffle. Great food, but honestly this place gets 4 stars because of the waiting area situation. There are a few places to sit, but never enough. There are always several people standing, waiting for tables, outside in the heat/rain/cold, sometimes in direct sunlight. The entrance also gets very crowded. There is a shaded area across from the entrance that would be a great place to put more seats for people to wait more comfortably for their table, which is almost always an inevitability on the weekends. Waiting inside is not an option. The shaded area is used for 2 additional parking spots, which to me, is less of a priority than allowing your guests to be more comfortable. Our second time at Grumpy's. It has been several years since our last visit however. It looks like the restaurant took some changes. The vibe and look of the place is much different. It looks more hopping now, and it gets packed quickly. The inside looks more modern and open. I cannot really recall how the outside looked from before, but it seems that parking still the same, it can get crazy at times, especially when you roll in and most spaces are taken.   We ordered the following: Meatloaf with Seasoned Vegetables Western Omelette with Hash Browns Short Stack Pancakes with Ham Chicken Tender Platter   Our food was cooked on a timely manner. Food was cooked right, specially my hash browns, I ordered it crispy because that's the way I prefer my Hash Browns cooked. Food was nice and hot. Generous portions. We loved all of it and could not finish it all. The Grumpy staff was not grumpy by all means, they were friendly and attentive.   We enjoyed the food and visit here the second time around. The kids loved the food so much, that they asked when we plan to come back. Several friends raved about Grumpy's so we went for lunch. There was about a 15-minute wait outside but it was nice weather. Once inside the waitress was quick to bring menus and get our drink order. I was looking forward to trying the French Onion soup but the soup of the day was Broccoli Cheddar. Next time I'll call ahead and go on that day for French onion! I did get French Dip sandwich. It had Provolone cheese and Au Ju for dipping. I thought it could had more cheese, but I really like cheese! The potato salad was my choice for a side. My bf and I finally trekked over to OP to try Grumpy's yesterday. We got there a little after one and only had to wait a few minutes. Emily was an awesome server and very helpful since it was our first time. I got the fresh squeezed OJ, Grumpy's loaded chicken biscuit and a side of home fries. My bf got Grumpy's country breakfast with french toast. He said the French toast was the best part. The chicken biscuit was so good. The chicken was definitely homemade fried chicken and so was the biscuit. I will say you will need your fork to finish the biscuit because it falls apart. These times are all good : Hashbrowns, bacon eggs biscuits and gravy, bacon , pancakes , waffles , all their soups . Breakfast wraps . BLT is good and crab cakes are good The gyro isn't good the lamb meat doesn't taste fresh and they put some odd stuff on it like olives and banana peppers . My sister and I visited Grumpy's restaurant a couple of weeks ago while out and about. She had been there before but it was the first visit for me. I had a craving for eggs benedict but was a little leery to try them there since the last place I had tried wasn't very good. Boy was I glad that I gave them a chance. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was delicious. I got it with a side of hash browns and they too were cooked perfectly to a golden brown. Crispy on top but soft in the center. My sister got the Reuben Sandwich with potato salad. She said the sandwich was good but they piled the meat all in the center of the sandwich so it was very difficult to eat and the meat wasn't in every bite. She said the potato salad was good but not great. All in all we had a great meal and we would definitely go back. read more

This time when it came out, it looked like canned corn beef hash and I asked the server and she said it was. It tasted disgusting at best. If they are going to serve something like that, I would like to be told, in Advance when ordering because I've had canned before, and I would never eat it again They advertised home cooking and that's what I had gotten in the past. If you are looking for good breakfast, look no further. The cinnamon roll pancake is bigger than my face and tastes exactly like a cinnabon and a pancake had a baby. The mint tea was really good according to my mom and she doesn't give out compliments easily. She had the country fried steak with brown gravy and mashed potatoes, all of it tastes down home and straight from the south. The specials for the day included a strawberry shortcake waffle which consists of a slice of homemade cheesecake on top of waffles with cheesecake bites topped with more toppings. Im a waffle lover and the waffles tasted a little over cooked to me so I would say stick to the pancakes. The service was great our server was sweet and answered any and all questions with a smile. Stopped in for breakfast for the first time in years (we only visit the area a few times a year) only to discover the whole place had just been remodeled a month earlier. It looked like Joanna Gaines had been in on it. My wife said, "This is how I want our kitchen to look!" Grumpy's is a great concept and they must've invested big in a marketing guru to update the vibe and the brand. It works! By the way, my wife LOVED the breakfast... home fries and over medium eggs with rye toast and the best OJ she's ever had (they have a machine that squeezes it fresh). I'd had some that good through a similar apparatus at a hotel on the Sea of Tiberius (hey, where else am I going to drop that humble brag?). For me, I felt I'd ordered all wrong. My over easy eggs were a bit cold (and undercooked?) and my French toast couldn't compare to my J Christopher's (Decatur, GA) experience of a week before. The coffee wasn't very good, and the waitress seemed surprised I didn't want a refill (but I couldn't wait to go somewhere else for my second cup). However the bacon was perfection and the service--even for a very busy morning rush--was fantastic with a great, friendly and attentive server. The country fried steak was really tasty & we got the gravy on the side so it won't affect the crispness of the steak. The grits were decent but I was expecting cheese to be mixed in the grits & not on top to differentiate between cheese & regular grits. Coffee was ok. The fresh squeezed orange juice definitely tasted like what it says. While everything was good, there are some things I was a tad disappointed about. The sausage patties were tiny & were a little burnt/hard when served. The cinnamon roll wasn't anything special in my opinion. Went to Grumpy's on Kingsley Ave. for breakfast based on a recommendation. I was not disappointed. Had a pretty traditional three egg breakfast with sausage patties, home fries, biscuits and sausage gravy. The meal was excellent and the service friendly and fast. I have to say I have found one my new favorite breakfast/brunch joints in the area. We tried Grumpy's this past Saturday and love it. We almost left when we found out they had a 40 minute wait, but we decided to stay since there was complimentary coffee, water, and miscellaneous games out back; so we joined in the waiting crowd with some coffee and cornhole. After about 30 minutes our table was ready and we were seated. Our server came up and was super nice and did a great job waiting on us. She took our order for drinks, quickly returning to get our food order. I ordered the Fried Chicken Benedict; consisting of a fried chicken breast on top of a biscuit topped with poached eggs and a spicy (and very tasty) hollandaise sauce, and on the very top a fried jalapeno ring. It was super delicious. My wife and daughter split Grumpy's big breakfast; pancakes with eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. They really enjoyed it as well; but my wife loved my selection better, and we decided next time to split the Fried Chicken Benedict. And while we were there we found out that Grumpy's is starting to franchise out. So we decided to see locations; so far only this one, but one planned to come to the The Fountains at St. Johns: 1610 CR 210 W, Suite 1&2 (Building 1) in mid-late 2020. So that excited us since it will be near our new home that we building to be completed in July. read more
