Typical Waffle house experience, overcooked greasy food served by a waitress with a bad attitude problem in need of a bath!

The power bowl was really delicious but the cup they serve it in made it hard to enjoy. I was trying to scoop out the egg which falls to the bottom so that was awkward to eat but super good. I suggest more of a tray or actual bowl would be easier to eat this in. I got my order really quickly and they have plenty parking. It was busy and plenty customers. Really enjoyed my visit and stayed a bit to work in the cafe on my laptop.

I had a plum cinnamon tea which was also great and hit the spot on a rainy day. The WiFi connected but wouldn't open any pages except google, so that was a bummer. I'd love to see for-here food come in an actual plate or bowl. The bowl mine came in had all the egg & sausage on the bottom, so you ate grits first then everything else. Still, I'd come back and try more things. I also tried the chocolate banana thing (muffin? Donut? Cupcake.) and found it pretty disappointing. The cake part itself is good, very moist. Too moist to be a donut or a muffin, so it must be a cupcake, which is weird considering the shape. The icing was awful. It's so overpoweringly sweet it doesn't taste like chocolate or banana, just sugar. If you don't scrape it off, it makes the whole thing way too sweet.

OK, here we go.....I dislike writing negative reviews, but this was my honest experience…read more It was my first time eating here (four ppl total). What started out as a positive experience quickly went downhill due to the unacceptable time it took to actually eat. I can't really blame the staff for that as this seems like an ongoing issue after reading the reviews on Yelp and other platforms. I'm very hesitant to return. They do have solid sandwiches here and an extensive menu with plenty of options for everyone and ample portions, too. We came here simply because my mom wanted a BLT and I saw a friend's picture on FB of the BLT she and her mom ate here. The amount of bacon in The LTD (their version of the BLT) was ridiculous in a good way, but shouldn't have taken an hour for my mom to get it and eat. My steak wrap (TR7) was very tasty and recommended by my server along with the tater tots. The sauces added a nice dimension. My brother had the double country fried steak plate with mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of green beans and he said it was good and plenty. Overall, the food was pretty good and the atmosphere was adorable with a clever car themed menu and decor. Plenty of seating. However, management may need to address the execution of service and be more aware of the customers. We were there for an hour before we received any of our food except for my sister's chili and although our waitress kept apologizing about the wait, a simple explanation of WHY it was taking so long for our food while other customers at tables who came after us, ordered after us and were served way before us (they actually finished eating and even got their bill) would have gone a long way. I now understand others' utter frustration dining here. It's not a matter of being short staffed when other tables mentioned were served and finished with their lunch. It's a matter of awareness. What a shame because I wanted to like this place.

This visit did not have that same appeal. The brown gravy tasted like it came out of a can and nothing that we received had freshly prepared flavor to it. They're serving up down-home country breakfast and brunch eats, all made from scratch. It's a cozy establishment (7 tables, 2 outdoor tables, and 3 counter seats), yet not at all cramped. Although they've been open for less than a year, i could immediately tell that Maw's has earned its share of regulars, with customers and staff addressing one another by first name. The character of the restaurant is as the name suggests...the sights, the sounds, the aromatic fragrances of southern delights such as fried chicken and smothered pork chops wafting from the kitchen...all reminiscent of a family meal at Grandma's house. Noms: Going back and forth between the breakfast and lunch menus, I decided to go with the open-face meatloaf sandwich meal, with mashed potatoes and mac-n-cheese as my sides. The tender meatloaf was dressed in a rich, brown gravy and was absolutely divine. The red-skinned mashed potatoes and luscious baked mac-n-cheese were the perfect accompaniments to the main course. I couldn't help but notice the dessert case calling to me from across the room, so I snuck over and took a couple of pics before i ordered a generous slice of carrot cake to take home and devour while marathoning "The Queens Gambit." How was it? To sum it up...addicting and i want more. The carrot cake was equally fabulous. Stop by Maw's Country Kitchen and show some love and support to one of the newest additions to our local business scene! The staff greeted every customer with smiles and warmth, so thumbs up to them, and a big thank you! There was island music playing in the background to set the vibe, along with a map of the Caribbean at every table. My jerk chicken came out quickly and was delicious. The plantains were the perfect consistency, which is important to me because some places dry them out. I asked for a side of pepper sauce and it's quite hot, so consider yourself warned! While I was dining, the owner, Peter, came over and was chatting with the patrons. The ladies at the next table clearly knew him well, and I love that there are local relationships at the restaurant. It was fascinating hearing about his transition from the finance industry in Trinidad to being a restaurant entrepreneur! I only wish I had had had space to try the rum cake.
