I recently stayed at the La Quinta right next to this place so it was a very convenient experience. Previous ratigs aside, I wanted to do an up to date review. Things to know off the bat: Prices are a bit higher than I expected. Expect $12-18 per person. Food was a small step above average, but not by a lot. If you've ever had Mexican food, EVER, in your life, you'll know what flavors and experience to expect. They have a full selection of alcoholic drinks, if you're feeling so inclined. Their chips and salsa are actually REALLY GOOD. But the chips being the highlight says something in itself. I ordered a skillet with two meats, and it was more than I could finish at one time. So I'd have to say I approve of portion sizes. All the staff was friendly, helpful, and spot on with their timing. Two thumbs up for them! In summary, give them a try. Food was very delicious, fresh, hot, and exceeded standards. Usually when I go to mexican restaurants the food isn't the best honestly. However, I really enjoyed this place. I ordered a large combination (tamale, chile relleno, and a chicken enchilada. Very well priced, the portion sizes are generous and super tasty. The drinks are also very tasty. I'm not sure when this place was established but I feel most Mexican restaurants tend to go downhill overtime but not this one!!! Yummy. I was searching for any Mexican restaurant in aurora because my friend and I were going shopping at the mall and this place is right by it! (like one minute.) So if you're going to the Aurora mall make sure to check this place out too because you won't regret it. I liked the decor and the setup of the restaurant. Wow was this place hoppin on a COVID half capacity night! There was an actual wait on Saturday evening. I just dropped by randomly for some takeout. I decided on the CIELO, MAR Y TIERA plate and a BEEF FAJITA SALAD. They have an extensive menu and I will tell you, everything looks quite delicious. I would love to come back for dine in. The hostesses were very good. Very attentive and very courteous. My generous tip was directed towards them. The beef dishes seem to be the best here. Very generous portions and wonderful char flavor. I was craving mole so bad. I ordered the chicken mole. It's basically enchilada sauce with sesame seeds on it. Don't ever come her for the "mole" you'll be extremely disappointed. My husband got the burrito and it looked really big and puffy and he like it a lot. My son ordered the chicken crisp and basically they tried to recreate the one at Senior Ricks. Given that there are so many excellent options for Mexican food around my house, it took almost a year for me to get around to trying Guadalajara. I came for lunch on Sunday and it was pretty busy - lots of families speaking Spanish, seemed like a good sign. The interior is nice decorated and better lit than other Mexican restaurants in the area. The menu is about five pages long so there are plenty of options to choose from. The lunch specials didn't do much for me so I decided to do a big combo off the dinner menu to get a taste for this place. I ordered the relleno, enchilada, and tamale combo. At almost $12, the price seemed high, but the I saw the HUGE plate of food come out and it suddenly seemed like a much better deal. Salsa was a nice mix of onions and cilantro and Guadalajara did something most restaurants should do - they warmed up their chips! The tamale was one of the best I've had - a good mix of juicy, marinated pork and soft, moist masa. The enchilada and relleno were also tasty, though pretty standard fare. The rice was also good but plain. The beans though were really yummy - you can tell they use real lard! Overall I'd say this is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've tried in Aurora and I'll definitely be back to try more. read more

Togo Beware: I haven't had an order in the last 3 months that was correct. The food is usually great but any alterations (like to exchange rice for something like slaw or add avocado) are hit or miss. The dishes fried like chimichangas have been cooked to leather. But the food is really good outside of that. The only reason we switched to Togo was that service seemed to be a hardship on the servers and this seemed a compromise to getting to enjoy our favorites without feeling guilty for being served. I'm always down for new things so I guess certain places are hit or miss. Luckily they were able to accompany our large group on a holiday so that's a plus. And we didn't seem to have to wait that long for our food. But I feel like we paid for a lot more than what we got. The portion sizes were really good. I got the pollo Chipotle and I ended up sharing my plate with someone else and still had leftovers. But besides the size of the meal, I don't think I would've paid $15 for that any other day. I must say that in the three times I have been here, I have never been disappointed. The portion sizes are huge, the kids portion is suitable for an adult. The menu selection is quite large as well. They offer some yummy margaritas and sports on TV. I loved their arroz con pollo, it was not traditional in it's appearance but, man, was it amazing. The chile relleno are great. I was very impressed with my first experience at Guadalajara! I went with a large group of coworkers (about 30) and they did a great job handling all of us. The restaurant itself was very clean and had a nice "authentic Mexican" vibe to it. They have great, reasonably priced lunch specials so I highly recommend coming at that time. I got the Spinach Quesadilla - it came with rice, beans, coleslaw, guacamole and sour cream - for only $9. It wasn't the best Mexican meal I've ever had, but I really enjoyed it and would order it again! All my coworkers seemed to enjoy their meals as well. The chips and salsa were tasty. When we got there the table that they sat us at had food all over it. They had to come wipe it off. I ordered a taco plate and half way through my meal I crunched down into a sharp plastic piece that punctured my gums. It seemed to be a piece of a plastic cap that was broken. I called the waiter over to just let them know about it. The waiter left to go notify the manager. They never came by. In fact they left us sitting there for a while we had to knock on the glass to try to get our bill. I didn't expect a refund or a new meal but acknowledgment from the manager would have been nice!! I had to try this place based on other reviews. The menu was so overwhelming! There had to be hundreds of choices and I sat with my menu for a good 20 minutes before I could figure out what to order. After much deliberation, I remembered an earlier review mentioning the Chile Rellenos. Funny thing? I had never really liked them before. I decided to go with that and the waitress asked if I wanted it soft or crispy and I asked her how she would have it. She reccommended crispy. I have to tell you I almost cried it was so good. Even though it was smothered in green chile and cheese and shared a plate with beans and rice, it was SO crispy! The inside was heavenly! I cannot wait to go back with my husband and try some other stuff (but have to get another one of these as well). The service was pretty great too and as far as I noticed, I was the only English as a first lanuguage speaker in the entire restaurant. So good! You must go there:) read more

"Let's get the chicken fajitas... they can't screw those up." Long story short, they CAN screw up chicken fajitas. Which is a pretty spectacular feat when you think about it. How can anyone screw up grilled chicken over onions & peppers? I went here for a late dinner with some friends who recommended the place. We had fajitas, chile relleno, and nachos. All were subpar. I just moved to Aurora in November. The night I closed on my house we drove around looking for Mexican because the group I was with was craving it. Upon walking in the door, it looked just like the inside of a 3 Margaritas (another Mexican restaurant chain here in Colorado!). We were seated and handed menus... again, replicas of 3 Margaritas. Everything on it was the same. Everything even tasted like 3 Margaritas. I like 3 Margaritas, so it was good. But it seemed to be just a notch below 3 Margaritas. As a food connoisseur, eating at a copy cat restaurant was odd. I was hoping for something new, I got something I have had (and enjoyed) many times before. I would give the 3 Margaritas chain in general a 4 star rating. However a slightly below par copy? Only 3 stars. 2/26/09 - Alright, I've changed my mind. After sampling a few other Mexican places by the new house and visiting Guadalajara a few more times I've bumped it from 3 stars to 4. It's delicious, consistent and the service is fantastic. I'm assuming the two naysayers went on off days. Went back the other day and was met yet again with delicious food, great service and technicolor decor. I am SO happy to see that they now offer arroz con prawns (weird that they call them prawns but whatev) so I could again taste the deliciousness that is. I'm of two minds about Guadalajara: My many luncheons here have been stellar. However, a recent dinner was underwhelming at best. Perhaps a future update after another dinner is in order. I've been a long time fan of Guadalajara, having been many times for lunch, and recommending their offerings to both colleagues and customers alike. My favorite lunch dish is the Camarones Crema, a wonderful mix of Shrimp in a delectable creamy sauce replete with onions, peppers and mushrooms. This dish never ceases to amaze. Dinner this week was a major disappointment. I had their forgettable Tacos Al Pastor, and my companion tried the Relleno & Enchilada combo. Both were delivered too quickly from the kitchen, and luke warm. Next, we had to wait for utensils before being able to dig in. The combo was awash in oil, and nothing had any taste. Until this past week, I would have told you that any Mexican restaurant is merely a cut-and-paste, duplication, duplication of any other south-of-the-boarder joint. What changed my thinking on this was trying Guadalajara. More specifically, trying their crispy chile relleno. Unbelievable; they changed my life and consequently, every future relleno experience I may have. I found their service to be slightly above average, while the environment was pleasant, being prolifically decorated with familiar brick and stucco, mini palms, macaws, and scenes of farmers dressed in white linen and sombreros, and plump, dark-skinned women pounding tortillas. While I wouldn't necessarily go far out of my way to return, being within walking distance from my hotel made it way more enjoyable. I could actually burn off a few of the many calories I just consumed by walking back to my room. When I'm back in the area, I'll certainly be back for another crispy chile. read more
