The ambiance felt dark and uninviting. Regrettably, I do not plan to return.

The restaurant had three separate tables, each with two to three guests. As a first-time visitor, I was not acknowledged by any staff members. I noticed the bartender, who was aware of our presence at the front entrance, but no one approached us. It was 1:30 PM, and we waited at the door for approximately 15 minutes without any assistance. The ambiance felt dark and uninviting. Regrettably, I do not plan to return!

The decor is beautiful -- warm and inviting and gives a cozy atmosphere! The food was also just as amazing. I ordered the burrito and my mom ordered the shrimp fajita supreme, and both were absolutely delicious!! We also ordered burria tacos and shrimp tacos to share! They perfectly seasoned, fresh, and full of flavor. The portions were huge, and everything tasted amazing. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to!

I was in town for work and was craving some Mexican food. As a native Arizonan, I'm a bit spoiled with a lot of delicious, authentic Mexican food places nearby, but when I saw the reviews on La Catrina I knew I had to try it! Immediately upon entering, the aesthetic is gorgeous!! The place is beautiful, catrinas everywhere, flowers, bright paintings, good music, the whole 9 yards! We got sat and ordered the trio sampler, the queso was pretty good and the frijoles with cheese had no complaints, but the guacamole was some of the best I've had in a long time! For entrees, I had the Catrina tacos: steak, cheese, avocado, and shrimp with a fantastic salsa verde. The meat was tender, the sauce had a kick, the avocado perfectly buttery and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. My hubby got the molcajete and it did not disappoint! The sauce was phenomenal, the shrimp, the chorizo, the chiles, all of it was amazing! I wish we would have had room to try the platanitos because fried plantains are one of my favorites and who doesn't love a cheesecake dipping sauce, but sadly our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we were stuffed! Our server was really nice, the food came out quickly, and even though we went in only an hour before they closed, we never felt rushed. If I'm ever back in CO, I'll definitely be coming back to La Catrina's!

We are so glad we found La Caterina! The inside decor was so colorful and beautiful. Our food was delicious and we enjoyed our drinks as well. I had the shrimp tacos and my fiancee had cheese enchiladas. The salsa was fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back!

Walking in the aesthetic of the restaurant was awesome and inviting. We were a party of 10 and the service was subpar for us being the only people in the restaurant. Although waiters were nice everything was slow - not completely their fault as only 2 servers were available for the entire restaurant. The drink menu didn't have any margaritas and so I went off the cuff and ordered a skinny margarita, they didn't know what that was. When it came out it tasted like a lemon drop with tequila. Not bad but not what I wanted. The Michelada Especial was liked by those who ordered it. Queso seemed like it was from a can. The main dishes were all good and liked amongst all. We were there celebrating a birthday and the staff did an amazing job making that fun by blasting music on the big screen and bringing a complimentary cake boat. I don't think I'd go back but I wouldn't discourage someone from going and having their own experience.

Wow... just wow. This place is gorgeous on the inside. They have 2 large wall screens with awesome music videos, beautiful flowers all over, sugar skulls, Frida Kahlo painted on the walls. Just beautiful!!! The vibe was perfect. Our server Juan Manuel was so nice, friendly and on top of everything. The food came out hot and fresh & wasn't too long of a wait. The salsa was PERFECT! Not too spicy but had a mild kick. Cilantro ratio was on point. Prices are very reasonable. My husband said the Horchata was delicious! My marg was yummy. We'll definitely be back!!!!

We were so excited to try out this neighborhood Mexican restaurant - especially after seeing it highlighted in Denver Food Scene instagram. Positives - environment and staff. Both were wonderful. Server was very nice and the place is very festive. Neutral - the food was just ok. We ordered two platters. The tamales were lackluster and the refried beans lacked flavor. The Birrias tacos were a bit soggy and just ok. Negative - I ordered a patron margarita. It was just ok - seemed a bit watered down with their mix. Then we get the bill. They charged us 9.99 for the house margarita and then 12.00 for a patron shot. Really. We inquired as we thought it was an error but was not. If you order any drink special - confirm the price. They did not an any type of extensive drink menu but was not expecting to pay 20 bucks for a watered down margarita.

Used to go to the food truck all the time, so had to come and actually try this location. Amazing food and atmosphere. Would 100% recommend

was disappointing We ordered the sampler of guac, cheese and refried bean dip . It tasted like everything was canned . It didn't look fresh . We also got a Molcajete and we weren't impressed , it looked like it had been sitting out for a while and there was this intense garlic flavor , it just wasn't what I was expecting .. there was more vegetables than actual meat and the cheese looked like cut up mozzarella .. I was honestly disappointed The drinks were good but not worth the hype .

Catrina inside was sooo cute They have a ton of opportunities for pictures However the food was mediocre. We ordered the chicken soup , chilaquiles verde (green) served with rice, beans and chilaquiles rojos (red) served also with rice and beans. The chicken soup was bland, greasy, and smelled weird. The tortillas were made by hand and very delicious. The beans on both dishes smelled like canned beans and tasted so. The Spanish rice was bland and very disappointing. The server was attentive.

I stopped by for a quick cocktail at La Catrina. The place is really cute with bunch of La Catrina and Mexican decor all over which made our visit enjoyable. What a marvelous theme inside this restaurant!!! Our server was very friendly and explained to us all the refreshing and tasty drinks they have. She also recommended some dishes they have. I really enjoyed my margaritas while enjoying the view of this place. I'll definitely come back to try their tacos and sopa de mariscos.

I was hoping that new ownership would do some good for this spot, but I think it's still yet to be determined. Although the restaurant has been beautifully designed and decorated, probably to attract customers, the establishment was pretty dead. Unfortunately we came at a time when some rowdy students were there. They were very obnoxious and vulgar, so the staff turned up the music to try and drown them out. It helped a little, but ultimately made the experience worse. Our waitress was so sweet and I felt bad that she had to deal with the whole situation. The menu is simple and doesn't have a lot to offer, but does have a lot of Mexican staples. I had the tamales platter, which was okay. The dough/corn was good, but there was hardly any filling, giving it little flavor. Everything tasted and looked fresh though, so that's a plus. Ultimately, I don't think this is a spot I'll frequent a lot as there are a ton of other Mexican options in the area.

Slowest service I've experienced. No menu to speak of you just ask if they have it and then take your chances.

A lot of places popped up, but this Mexican restaurant really stood out -- great reviews and the food pictures looked amazing. It's about 13 minutes from the airport, which made it super convenient. From the outside, it looks small, but once you walk in, it's surprisingly spacious. We were seated immediately, and our server was absolutely phenomenal -- so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. For an appetizer, we ordered the queso fundido with chorizo (you can choose corn or flour tortillas). This is one of my favorite dishes to get at any Mexican restaurant if they offer it, and this one did not disappoint. The cheese was perfectly melty and stretchy, and the chorizo had great flavor that paired so well with it. Wrapping that cheesy, savory goodness in a warm tortilla? So good. For my main dish, I ordered the quesabirria -- corn tortillas filled with birria and cheese, fried crispy, and served with consommé for dipping. It was decent, but I will say it didn't have quite as much flavor as I'm used to with quesabirria. Still enjoyable, just could've used a bit more seasoning. The beans were actually delicious and full of flavor, but the rice was a little bland and could've used some salt. Overall, the service was amazing, the restaurant was clean, and even though it was busy, everything came out in a timely manner. The prices were also very reasonable -- definitely not expensive for the quality and portions. I would absolutely come back to try other dishes. With just a little more seasoning in some areas, it would easily be a five-star spot for me!

Unfortunately, the customer service was disappointing. We were told our total was $32, but when I paid with a card, the final charge came to $34.93. When I asked why the amount was different, I was told it was because I paid with a card. I understand that taxes and fees may apply, but customers should be told the full amount before being charged. What bothered me the most was the attitude. When I politely asked for clarification, the person cooking responded in a rude and arrogant way, saying, "You know that in the United States you have to pay sales tax." I wasn't questioning whether sales tax exists, I was simply asking why the amount I was quoted was different from the amount I was charged. I also noticed that my receipt showed a Denver sales tax rate of 9.15%, even though the food truck was located in Aurora on Hampden, which added to the confusion. The food is excellent, but the customer service and lack of clear communication left a negative impression. I would return for the food, but I hope they work on treating customers with more respect and explaining charges more clearly.
