    Shrimp and octopus cocktail.
    Laura M.

I always enjoy coming to Guanajuato. Just visiting the grocery store is worthwhile. This time I went with a large group and our servers did a great job taking care of us. I really like their shrimp and octopus cocktail. It's huge and a meal in itself with chips. I like the guacamole here as well so definitely order it. I've had better margaritas but maybe it was what I ordered. The rest of the group had a variety of fajita's, tacos, etc. Someone got talked into trying the largest margarita I've ever seen. My picture doesn't do it justice but it took several of us to finish it. Make sure to get some goodies at the bakery before you leave!

Came here on a Thursday afternoon with my family since we have been staying in Indianapolis and it was so good! Very authentic. Ordered fajitas and it comes with side of rice, beans, and salad like usual. What I did find very odd was the fact that we came here around 3:20pm and saw a sign they closed at 8pm so thought nothing of it and we have plenty of time to eat. Until whenever 4pm came they started cleaning and everyone left and no music was playing and well we thought it was weird. Comes to find out they close at 4pm and we felt so bad. We didn't finish our food and we packed to go even though they did say it was okay but it was 4:15. Just not sure why their sign said something else but that's some important information. Felt terrible for being those kind of people who stay after the closing time.

Carniceria Guanajuato is an incredible Mexican grocery that used to have an INCREDIBLY popular taco stand within it. Because it was so popular, they took the leap and created an entire restaurant that is now attached to the grocery store. And let me tell you, it's BEAUTIFUL. The walls have beautiful 3D murals on them that make you feel as if you are in Mexico. Everything is clean, friendly, vibrant and delicious. We came with a group of 24 people and they were incredibly accommodating. The servers had waters waiting at the table as well as fresh chips and salsa. They also brought out big plates of limes and cucumbers before they brought out the tons of tacos. We got fish, beef, vegetarian, and chicken tacos. They were SO GOOD. Everyone at our table loved them and commented that they wanted to come back soon. I had the beef tacos and absolutely loved them. I'd definitely order them again. They even have specialty tacos like lingua (tongue) on the weekends. I can't reiterate how kind, helpful and sweet the staff were. The server even told us about the restaurant and how she went from working in the grocery to running this restaurant (and she deserves it). Highly recommend you check out this new space! It's comfortable, affordable, and delicious.

This unassuming restaurant is delicious and a hidden gem in a rather food desert part of downtown. There is some free street parking and I was able to find a spot easily during peak lunch hours. Inside the atmosphere is colorful and festive and makes you joyful just by entering! We were seated immediately and brought some chips and salsa. The salsa and chips are limited unless you want to pay a bit more, but given the size of the food portions and the price it is still very reasonable. I ordered fried plantains which were delicious! Very non oily and a perfect grill on them as a fun sweet snack. I also ordered vegan burritos which were stuffed with veggies and in a slightly grilled tortilla which made it crispy and tasty. It was also a huge portion for only $5.50, so well worth the money! It was quick service and obviously fresh ingredients which made us agree we would be coming back soon. The cute store next door had tons of options for Mexica spices and candies etc if you are looking for something hard to find. Very great lunch option!

I'm not a big fan of Mexican food. my palate does not like bland food, and Mexican food always tasted bland to me. Nothing wrong about Mexican food but I like spices and aroma of herbs which I find, is generally lacking in this kind of food but I saw a review about this place and I decided to check the tacos. This is a good place to go. This has a very different ambience almost as if you are in Mexico based on my one time experience of going to a Mexican restaurant in Cancun. The service is good people speak very well and are able to explain the food. I was there for tacos, and I ordered three tacos. I ordered chicken taco a beef taco and a pork taco. I'm happy to say that my experience was almost equal to what I had experienced in Cancun and the food was good. Tacos were very soft, they were hot, chicken in the taco felt slightly cold but it was properly cooked and it was OK. The pork taco was very good. It had a tangy sauce in it, tasted like mango, and that was very fulfilling and the beef taco was again good, but bland, but I guess it is supposed to be like that. The quality of food is good. The tacos overall, tasted good. I think it is worth going to this place again and try the other offerings. Also, this place is very well frequented by native Mexican food loving population, as well as non-natives and it was crowded. It was lunch hour and people were coming in. I can't say the name of this place but it is worth visiting this place. It's part of a grocery store. Grocery store is OK. Nothing much to talk about maybe all Mexican food and canned food you may get a better selection at Saraga, but this was a good place for food.

My first time here was for a Yelp event a few days ago and we had the opportunity to try the fish tacos. They were very good so we're back to try other items on the menu. The Market was known for their superb taqueria and busy location so they have added this full service restaurant. Street parking is available along the building and the restaurant is just a few blocks from I-70 on the corner of Oliver Avenue and Division. The upscale restaurant is lovely with murals on the walls, tile floors, a faux balcony, a very impressive, large water fountain in the center of the dining room with lots of warm colors throughout. We were immediately greeted by the gentleman at the carryout counter then taken directly to a table by the hostess. All of the seating is 4-6 top tables with generous spacing between tables. A green and red salsa was delivered with chips in just a few minutes. I enjoyed the salsa but my husband found it just okay. It wasn't as spicy as the first time I had it and I hope it was just a fluke. The extensive menu can be a touch confusing when you first start browsing with both Spanish and English descriptions. The categories are well marked and each item has a brief description and many of the meat items are prepared several different ways. You'll find the standard menu items plus more. Tacos, Fajitas, Tortas, Quesadillas, Nachos, Burritos, Eggs (available before Noon), and Enchiladas are all available. The entrees include half or a whole Chicken, Grilled or Breaded Chicken Breast, T-bones, Steaks prepared with different sauces, Enchiladas, Pork dishes and many Fish and Shrimp dishes. I love all the seafood options with different Seafood Cocktails, Seafood Soups, Surf and Turf, whole fish to tilapia filets and Shrimp with various sauces. They offer for groups of 6 two table options, Seafood Table ($69.99) or Meat Table ($44.99) for six. The seafood table is served with Paella, Shrimp, Baby Lobster, Oysters, Tilapia, Fried Tilapia, Marinated Shrimp and Raw Fish, plus Crab Legs. The Meat table can be ordered for 4 or 6 persons. It's served with Steak, Grilled Chicken, Mexican Sausage, Fried Pork, Cactus, Grilled Onions and Jalapenos. An extensive menu that has something for most. They are prepared to serve 1 to large groups. My husband ordered the Fajitas Cameron (Shrimp) served with rice, beans, a salad, grilled green peppers, onions and tomatoes and tortillas. First, what a generous portion (see the pictures) and these were nice size shrimp. Flavorful, delicious but just a tad overcooked, but not enough to destroy the texture or flavor. He was thoroughly pleased with his dinner and found it to be a great value compared to many other restaurants. I ordered the Filetes de Pescado/Tilapia Filet grilled on a flat iron. When my dinner arrived it was 3 full filets with beautiful grill marks. The large plate was almost overflowing with a small salad, a tasty red rice and thick, almost charro, beans. All for $10.99? What a value for the quality and quantity of food we enjoyed. The Market is open and an entrance is open from the restaurant. We didn't have the chance to explore but I'll be back search for fresh veggies and fruits and dine here again.

Having had the pleasure of tasting some of the food from this restaurant at a recent Yelp event, I brought my wife here for lunch. This ornate building includes colorful murals and sculptures that make it unique in its style and appearance. The dining room is very open with high ceilings. Although the room looks huge, there is a lot of open space, so fewer tables than I initially thought. There is also a lot of hard surfaces for noise to bounce off, so it does get a bit loud even when only half full. After receiving our complementary salsa and chips, we placed our order. My wife usually goes with a Taco Salad, this time with chicken. I chose to go with a Torta with beef tenderloin and onions. Note that the restaurant does not have a liquor license, so you can't get a margarita here. They do have a collection of beverages though. The chips were made in house as was the salsa. I was pleased to note that the salsa was not as cilantro forward as many other Mexican restaurants. Instead, the taste brought forward the onions and peppers for a nice change of pace. I also had a "small" Guacamole dip which was very light and creamy in texture. It was a little under seasoned, but the limes I got with my entree and a little bit of table salt perked it up. Not quite what I was used to, but again, definitely unique. My torta was great! The sandwich started with a very light and tasty bun that held the strips of beef along with the onion, tomato, avocado, etc. Although a very large serving, it didn't seem heavy and filling. It also came with the lime wedges (definitely a great addition to the meal) and fresh cucumber on the side. I would gladly have that again! My wife's lunch was a disappointment though. It looked great: Deep fried bowl with a colorful mix of ingredients. But a couple of things were fails. First, the oil temperature must not have been hot enough because instead of being crisped and light, the shell was flexible and we could taste the oil. If the temp is high enough, it should seal the shell and not take on that taste. And though the inside was good, there was so much liquid settled in the bottom (a creamy white liquid/sauce) that it became very soggy. She could hardly transfer the remaining amount to the to go box. Hopefully they will make some adjustments to the dish so that it rises to the level of my meal. When we were finished, the waitress gave us our bill and we paid at the cashier/carryout counter near the door. It is a beautiful space and one I recommend visiting if you are someone who appreciates the setting of your meal. Review #2542

I like a dim atmosphere, but it was hardly lit enough to read the menu. It was difficult to navigate as it was mostly in Spanish. Extremely limited vegetarian options which I'm not sure I can assume were actually without chicken base in the rice, etc. I didn't even see a vegetable fajita on the menu. My vegetarian burrito sans crema and cheese consisted of little more than rice and a couple small diced pieces of avocado and diced tomato. Iceberg lettuce? I saw corn niblets and a pea fall out. Bland. Hot sauce choices not fantastic. What kind of burrito contains no beans?? Everyone else at my table received flatware. I was given a plastic fork. Once I received an actual fork & knife, they kept tearing the paper underneath my burrito. Strangely served with raw cucumber (ick) & lime wedges on the side. Edible at best. The atmosphere looked interesting upon entry, but it felt grungy, the chairs were heavy. I was seated right next to a brick wall/chimney. Service was sparse. Definite language barrier. The dish my companions received was an array of meat in a molcajete. Mixed feedback on the peppers being ungodly too hot & some of it, especially the sausage, having a good flavor. It was massive & messy. It was interesting initially but definitely didn't look appetizing to me. That came with a bowl of beans in sauce with what we later discovered were Chicharrón on top. It looked like boiled mystery chicken skin. A friend from SoCal I consulted online had no idea what it was from my photo as we tried to discern it & they didn't realize it was even Mexican food from the appearance. It was assumed I was at an Asian joint. We had to ask for drink refills far into our meal. I was given a fresh new cup. The server took another person's cup from the table and refilled it in the back. That was strange and seemed unsanitary. We didn't get everything we asked for. I'd say language was the problem except for the fact the server had understood my requests when "crema" was the only Spanish word I used. Ladies' room had room for one person at a time. The sink was backing up. It felt dingy like the rest of the building. I'm glad they had paper towels and not just a hand blower. I didn't choose the restaurant. It was one of the worst if not THE most horrible Mexican meals & experiences I've had in my life. Hard pass. I'd gladly pay more for better fare elsewhere. I can make far superior at home.

The tacos (your choice of protein) were $1.49 each. I was honestly surprised that they had plenty of onions, cilantro, two different sauces & a baggie of radishes & limes for that price. I will say, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the shredded chicken although clearly seasoned (color wise) with sazon, it was dried completely out with only a hint of flavor. I added the green sauce on the chicken ones and it gave it a little umph but then I tasted the amazing seasoning in the rice and beans & WOW. I put a little of both on the chicken tacos and that was just what they needed. All in all the tacos were an 8/10 and the rice+beans were 10/10. The rice was cooked perfectly & the best compliment to the soupy beans. Parking: TERRIBLY positioned & shared lot, spots are tight & all the businesses stay with a crowd. Service: the cashier wasn't unpleasant BUT I had every intention on sitting down and eating inside (they have about 8 tables and 4 small booths) but she assumed I wanted it to-go without asking me as she asked the family of Spanish/hispanic/latino/a heritage before AND after me. In the moment I didn't feel slighted because I think I was just so tired & hangry but it definitely is memorable now that I'm writing the review a day later. I could have very well corrected her and said I wanted to dine in but I'm not one to force it when I feel unwanted or unwelcomed . This by no means discredits the food, it was wonderful & so was the price.
