Stopped in to ask to buy a bracket that is on every gm car for 20 years. This bracket comes with new carbs. Every mechanic has 3 in there tool box. Mechanic said he didn't have it without even looking at the picture or letting me tell him what I wanted. Just walked away. The level of disrespect from the guy here is unbelievable. Absolutely horrible customer service. After my friend who is a school teacher was told a replacement battery was over $260 for her car, she wanted to check somewhere else. Then she was charged $60 for the diagnosis which they even have a sign in their shop saying a dead battery check is free among free engine diagnosis and maintenance diagnosis and supported by their website as well. Then when i called to ask about why she was charged, the woman answering the phone hung up on me. Was never told she would be charged for anything. She ended up getting a better battery for about $100 less at another place down the road. Avoid Guarantee Automotive at all costs! read more

This is the only automotive repair company I would recommend. My first experience was when my wife took our Yukon in for a repair that Guarantee diagnosed and explained was out of warranty by a few months. The owner of Guarantee Automotive suggested we call the dealer and ask them to "good will" the repair even though it was out of warranty. He gave us some tips to convince the dealer to make the repair. The dealer agreed to do the work without charging us and Guarantee Automotive did not charge anything for diagnosing the problem or their great advice. Over the next few years we had taken our cars exclusively to Guarantee Automotive and they always performed the work quickly and at a reasonable price. 2 years ago we took our sons truck in for some repairs. While the truck was being fixed our son was involved in a fatal accident. When we went to pick his truck up, they would not accept payment for the work they had done. How many repair shops would do that? These guys are honest, do good work and are really great people. read more

Been going to Guarantee for a couple of years. Whenever I need something done on my car, I call around and get quotes. Guarantee had always been the most economical and does a great job (never had to bring it back). I just brought my car in because it was due for the 100k mile tuneup. Oak Hill quoted @ $1400, the dealership quoted $1200 and Guarantee did it for just under $500. They inspected everything and changed only what needed to be changed. And they were the only ones that told me that my timing belt did not need to be changed because it was actually a chain and not a belt - the other 2 places told me it need to be replaced due to the mileage (without even looking at it). Just wanted to add my opinion since it looks like only angry people have been providing feedback. I am happy to recommend Guarantee Automotive. read more

This review is based on NOT having to use Guarantee Automotive because the awesome owner Gerald advised me on how the dealer might repair a part under federal emissions warranty law (even though it was outside of the warranted period). Gerald could have easily taken a $1,500 dollar Catalytic converter repair and instead, saved me that much, by suggesting how I could have my repair handled with Lexus. These people will try to scam you! I was referred to them by a acquaintance that lives in the Lakeway area. Guarantee Automotive tried to tell me I needed a new fuel pump $900.00 when all I needed was gas. I was told they added gas to my vehicle and the vehicle was still disabled needing a fuel pump. Since they said it was still disabled I had a tow truck company pick it up and the tow driver was able to drive it onto his tow truck. He then took my vehicle to my local mechanic that had recently replaced my fuel pump. My trusted mechanic was shocked when the tow truck driver drove it off the truck. So I'm out of a few hundred dollars after paying the diagnosis fee, tow and renting a vehicle. They also ignored my emails trying to resolve the issue. Sleezy business..... read more

I like that it is a locally owned business. I DO NOT like that this establishment never called to inform me of an estimate on my classic vehicle. They proceeded to repair the car and then notified me when the vehicle was ready with the bill. I cannot recommend them based on how I was treated. Customer service was above average. read more

I found this place a couple of years ago and have taken several cars in for work. They always do the job I ask them to do. They don't "upsell" by telling me that my radiator needs flushing or my suspension could be improved by a complete over haul, or some other stuff..... they just do the work I ask them to do. I've brought my car here on a number of occassions and these guys are always very kind and honest. No outrageous "diagnostic" fees like other shops in the area like McSpaddens. My Acura MDX now has 150,000+ miles on it and is starting to have issues but the fixes have fortunately been minor so far. Other shops tried to gouge me but Guarantee shoots straight and fixed the problems at a fair price. I would not hesitate to trust them to do the right thing. Warning! Watch out for this place!! I took my truck in for a brake job. Furnished them with my own brand new green stuff pads, and SS brake lines that I had purchased through Summit. Also asked for a full flush. Only 1 problem, when they took my rotors off..they did NOT turn them! They then reassembled my complete brake system with the unturned warped rotors. Why? I have no idea. 5 days later they call to say my truck is finished. With the new pads & the brake-in material up against old warped rotors..the problem is now 5 times as bad! And to top it all off the brake lines are now leaking too! Apparently even the mechanic that did the work told someone that the rotors should be turned..but it wasn't done. Wasted $550 (PLUS THE COST OF MY PARTS) on these guys & I still have to buy new parts & do the work over myself (so I know it will be done correctly this time.) We aren't the only ones to have problems with the quality of work at this place..so be very careful doing business with them. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!! read more

My BMW bust a coolant hose literally 2 feet from Guarantee's shop. I pulled in, asked for help, and Gerald helped me cool the engine down so I could at least get home without causing further damage. These guys are absolutely awesome! They don't try to sell you what you don't need and they don't over-charge. I bought my car used, but it never ran just right, so on a recommendation of a friend, I took it to Guarantee Automotive. Let me tell you....by the time they were done, it ran better than when I bought it from the dealership!!! And it cost 1/3 of what the dealership was going to charge me. I had even asked them if needed something else that the dealership said I needed done and they said, "well, we'll be glad to do it, but you could probably go another 6-7 months before it needs to be done....how awesome is that? They're only there during the week, but it's worth it to me to take time off of work and have it done right. read more

Very unprofessional, low quality of work, high prices and untrustworthy. I took my 2014 Ford Explorer in due to a squeaking noise coming from my passenger side front tire/brake. I assumed it was the brakes, they told me it was my struts and sway bar links that needed to be replaced. I authorized the $1100 repair, received my car back and the same squeaking noise was still there. Took my car back; they told me it was my wheel bearings and made the repairs to both front wheels without my authorization. Cost me $800. A week later my car started making a terrible knocking noise on the driver's side front suspension and the same squeaking noise was still there on the passenger side. My husband looked under the car and found that the mechanic left a tie strap wrapped around the strut. He removed it but the knocking noise continued. Took my car back, they said it was a bad strut and replaced it at no cost. A week later the same knocking noise started again - called to let them know that I would be bringing my car back and they said that they couldn't schedule me for 2 weeks. I took my car to another trustworthy mechanic, APR Engines. They found that my front axle was bad and said this was probably the issue all along. In addition, they found that Guarantee had used a ZIP TIE instead of a metal clamp to hold a part in place on my car. I can't say enough bad things about this place. I was scammed and lied to. Worst shop ever. Don't make a mistake and take your car here. It's just short of a total rip off. They over charge and do substandard work. The put used parts in your car and lead you to believe they put new ones in. It's sad that there are people in the world like this. I had a similar problem as the guy with the rotor problem. I took my truck in because the O/D light was on, the truck was vibrating and the transmission was acting strange. They said, oh, it's this sensor . I have to pay a $50 copay on the major mechanical protection that I bought. Great! Truck's all done, right? Oh, but wait, when I pick it up, the vibration is gone, but the transmission is shifting up and down like crazy. I take it back a week later to get the work done correctly and they say the transmission needs to be replaced. DID YOU NOT TEST DRIVE THE TRUCK???? Could you not tell what it was doing before you called me the first time? Then, they charge me another $50 copay from the MMP because this is a "different" issue. I am starting to think that the speed sensor was "broken" the first time because the overdrive gear was out. On top of all of that, their secretary is incompetent and lies about things that she says on the phone. I called to ask her if they had started on my truck and she says, yep, they're pulling it in right now. Then I call back later and Gerald tells me that they haven't started yet. Stop telling people what you think they want to hear! Tell the truth. And fire whomever does your test-driving. I will never come back. read more

Took my IROC-Z in for a few minor things, one of which was a tuneup. Being the car had 120k miles I purchased some new new plug wires for it awhile back but never got around to installing them so I gave them to Gerald to have his guys install new plug wires with the tuneup. Then I get the bill and he charged me an extra 1/2 hr of labor to replace the plug wires. It's like, if you are charging $150 for a tuneup the mechanic has to pull off the old plug wires anyway, are you really going to charge me extra to replace it with a new wire that I provide? Not good business if you ask me. read more

When I purchased a 1996 Lexus, it was not leaking oil. I invested in rack and pinion repair, dash warning light repair and thought it prudent to invest in preventative maintance, which Guarantee Automotive said, was done costing a total of $1,349.41 The day after I brought the car home after being "repaired" by Guarantee Automotive, I noticed a large pool of oil underneath the car. I took the car to the Lexus Dealership who washed the engine because the excessive oil around the engine, at that point, they couldn't tell where it was leaking. The dealership asked me to return the car later so they could recheck the engine for leaks. When I returned the car to the Lexus dealership and was given an estimate starting at $810.76 I showed the Lexus dealership the receipt I had received from Guaranteed Automotive to show the "work" that had been done. The Lexus dealership recommended that I take their estimate to Guarantee Automotive thinking the owner, Gerald Mitchell, would honor the work that had not been done properly. The Lexus dealership also took pictures to show where it is leaking. I gave the owner at Guaranteed Automotive a chance to complete the job correctly but he was unwilling to do so. Evan after I showed him the estimate from Lexus! The Lexus Service Manager tried calling the owner but Gerald Mitchell didn't return his calls? This gives me no choice but to see the Owner, Gerald Mitchell in court. I would never take my car there again. read more

We were on our way from Galveston to Ruidoso NM pulling a 10k pound 5th wheel with an older truck (2003 Ford F250). I first stopped at a repair shop across the street because my transmission was slipping. They went thru a whole litany of things they were going to have to do at a significant cost in order to even tell me what was wrong. Wanted me to come back next morning, Saturday. It was over the top so I pulled into Guarantee Automotive across the street. It was 3:45pm on Friday afternoon. Gerald, the owner, and Kyle started by checking my fluid. It was pink, clean, and full. They then ran a scan (which showed no alerts of problems), followed by riding with me to try to identify the problem. After those efforts Gerald was convinced the transmission was fine. They then put my truck on the rack to check for problems with the differential. None observed so Gerald directed Kyle to test for the level of rear slip additive which apparently was the problem. They added a small bottle of rear slip additive to the differential. PROBLEM SOLVED AND I WAS ON MY WAY BY 5PM for a TOTAL COST OF $72.89!!! Amazing!!! I will go back to Gerald anytime I am in the area if there is anything needed to be done on my truck. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! I could have been laid away. VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!! Just took my Sequoia in for repairs -- A/C blower, brakes and oil change. They were super friendly and called me as promised to discuss the repairs needed and cost. They offered me a ride home although I had already made arrangements. After picking up my car, imagine my surprise when I discovered that they somehow fixed the rear view camera and GPS which had been broken for months! Although the dealer charged us a $100 diagnostic fee to tell us that fixing the rear camera and GPS would cost $1000, Guarantee Automotive got it working and didn't even charge us! No more dealer for me. We're taking all our cars here! LOVE this family-owned business! read more

I have been going to Guaranty Automotive for the last seven years. They have done everything from minor body work, to major engine repairs on about 5 of our vehicles. I found them after getting an extremely high price to make repairs on an older work truck of mine. The first mechanic wanted to replace a ton of parts but Gerald explained this was an option but not recommended given the value of the vehicle. He told me I should focus on the existing problem rather than trying to make an 18 year old truck brand new by replacing other components. About $250 later he had replaced my alternator and got me back on the road. The truck ran for another three years problem free before I sold it divulging the concerns of the first mechanic. What I really like about Gerald is he gives you options and recommendation and then let's you decide what's best. He would have done the laundry list of repairs at considerably less than the first mechanic but told me he didn't think they were required. Time proved him not only right but honest. Thanks Gerald. Unbelievable! They held my car hostage for three days! I dropped off my vehicle on Wednesday to have it checked out for AC and starter problems. By the end of the day Wednesday no one called us so we called them and they said they hadn't finished and asked if they could keep it till the next morning the next morning came and went we called Thursday evening and left a message that evening came and went we called Friday afternoon and still no one answered. We decided to drive over and collect our car and take it somewhere else when we arrived the man there told us they weren't even open because of some family emergency and that they had been closed for two days and would be close throughout the weekend. So basically if we had not driven over to pick up our car I would've been without my car for five days! With no explanation, phone call or anything. The owner flipped me off when I ask for my car back. I dropped my car off yesterday around 3:00. I had been told by Auto Zone that my alternator was going. Guarantee called me around 6:30 told me that it was not the alternator but a oxygen sensor and it would be $350. That night I went on line and found out that the part was $70 and it took about 30 minutes for labor and I found out that the Toyota dealer would do it for $250. I called and left a message on the recorder asking them not to do the work. I went in at 8:00 when they opened to get my car. The women at the counter told me that the charge would be $40. I was taken by surprise because I did not sign anything that told me their would be a charge to look at my car as I have in the past with other automotive centers. I told her that it would have been nice to know that they do charge to look at your car. I had not planned on saying anything about the bad deal they had offered me I just wanted my car. When The woman ask me why I told her that I could get it cheaper at the dealership. I did not say it loud and new that it would be bad for the business if other people heard our conversation. The women told me I could get my keys from Gerald Mitchell who I assume he was the owner outside. When I went outside the owner gave me my keys and said "we don't work for free" gave me the key and flipped me off. It was the most horrible experience. read more
