I ordered food to go. The parking lot is tight, but people are constantly moving in and out. Street parking was easier in the evening. Inside the restaurant is very casual, you order your food and bring it to your own table. It's very clean inside. The selection of food is very wide, it's take out style in that you can build your own combo plate out of the options on the warmer. I also liked their bread options. Highly recommend- Bakery has a big selection of pastries freshly baked. Definitely has staples (concha's) but also a few rotating ones and all are delicious. I'm really bummed out writing this but this place needs help with the service. Lady helping my mom with here order seemed annoyed. But what put it over the top for me was when I asked one of the ladies cleaning up what the code was for the bathroom. I put in the code and it wasn't working. So I went back to ask her again to make sure. When I asked she gave it to me but with an attitude, like I owed her something. SMH. To top it off the food was cold. I wonder what would happen if I took back the food and said it was cold? The one bright spot was the pan frances and pirujos from the bakery. Being a proud Guatemalan I'm always searching for some home cooked food to soothe my soul. Been coming to this spot for a few years and food is always on point. Ladies behind the counter can be a bit rough at times but hey that reminds me of growing up with my mother aunts and any Guatemalan lady cooking kicking me out the kitchen when I'm trying to sneak a taste. Service is quick they have a line with the food you can see makes it easy to point and make a choice. Place is spacious clean plenty space to sit and enjoy your food. Unfortunately we will close the year with a very bad experience here on this place. Through the years I've been how the owner or owners of this palace have become greedy. Yes they have improved the place but they hike the prices like they are the only option in the neighborhood. And that's a lot to say, they have like 4 or 6 of this franchise. But lets get back to business. On this review, I will attach a photo of my receipt in case somebody can explain me why my tab went from $14.98 to almost $19.00 with the taxes. Its the only place that I know that taxed you almost 25%. The food its not bad for what it tries to be; homemade, but certainly I am sure that their employees make at least $23 p/h since they tax you that high after the prices on their menu. NOT WORTH IT people!!! Please look for the small guy places, that's really homemade cooking. This people already forgot where they are coming from. Now that they are corporation simply don't care about the original idea of becoming a place where the Guatemalan community got together to have a piece of the homeland through an affordable meal. Love this place. I visit their bakery every time I'm in the area and do recommend their authentic Guatemalan food. Generally, the customer service is great. However, my only complaint, which I have communicated to the staff and owner, is that they have only one handicap parking spot and every single time I do visit this place the handicap spot along with the extra space designated for that spot is occupied by cars who do no have a handicap placard. At times, the restaurant's own staff use that handicap spot to place trash bins, etc. The staff have not done anything to stop this issue. It's disappointing and frustrating. read more

This is one of the cheapest restaurants in LA with authentic food and portions for amazing prices. Enough indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is small so you might have to find street parking but it's never hard. The ladies who work there take a long time to take care of any of the customers no matter how many people are in line. They overcharge for the food. I ordered a bread that comes with crema already included. The price says $3.49, i ordered 2 an and got charged more than $11 for both. They added an extra charge for the crema that already comes with the order. The lady behind the counter said it was "taxes". One of the worst customer service experience and they overcharge. What a pleasant surprise to find this place! I had just returned from my first trip to Guatemala when I came across this store. It felt authentic, and I saw a lot of snacks and condiments you can't get at the regular grocery store. I took home some pastries (tres leches, etc.) from the bakery counter and they were all great. Their facial expressions make it seem like they don't want to be there and or work there. Definitely no complaints about the food. The food has always been very good and always reminds me of my moms home cooking. My husband loved his food except for the loaf of bread with everything in it. The eggs were not cooked properly, so he didn't even finish the bread.
