This is my experience take it or leave it. Stopped for a slice on my way out of town. Walking in, I see a nice sign that says guns are welcome here in the front window. Not something I ever want to see when entering a new location, but I had already opened the front door. The inside was small and hot, I couldn't have stayed in there to eat. Slices were pricey, but worse yet they were visibly old. I asked if they had new slices coming out and you would have thought I asked them to help move. Somehow I was made to feel bad for asking about a fresh slice. That was enough, I walked an extra 15 feet to Black Rose and got a decent slice for the drive. Not sure how the pizza actually tastes and probably will never give it another chance. With places Like Ardor Park, Strange Bird, and Pizza Nota in town, there is no reason to waste my time here. read more

Good Food, Bad Vibes Last week I walked in and didn't see slices immediately and asked an employee if they had slices. He silently pointed to the board that listed the slice options with a look on his face like "duh." Then because I can't have red sauce, I asked if the sweet 'n sour chicken had a red sauce or other base and was answered sarcastically. I have to say that there are a lot of pizza and wing places and everyone has their favorites. i won't say this is my favorite but our boss at work buys us subs and pizza from this place regularly since we are close by.I think the subs are just as good as Dibella's and Wegmans and Jersey Mikes. They have one size (looks like a medium (12 in). The bread is always fresh and the cold cuts and toppings aren't skimped on. The pizza is good also. When it is piping hot out of the oven, it's fantastic. It loses something once it starts to cool. Not a fan of microwaving it since the crust looses all crunchiness. I would recommend their lunch pizza to go. You have some nice choices as I've had meat lovers with meatball, pepperoni and sausage. They have a Detroit style with the thicker square slices. Also a Grandma's pizza that has cheese on the bottom and sauce with garlic and paremesan on top. You get a nice portion for the money. I recommend trying the Guida's on Elmgrove. The portion sizes were large, the pricing was reasonable, the food was delivered on time, and it tasted absolutely amazing!!! I came in to eat with two of my boys for lunch. We had a warm welcome, and I had the most delicious soft and fresh slices of pizza served to us. Honestly still thinking about how good it was , made me write this review! Too bad they dont deliver but it's worth driving to , rather than having a horrible pizza delivery from else where( true story). read more

I love Guidas for many many reasons! A main one being that this location is .1 miles from my home, and makes them a basic go-to for all things party planning and hosting. In addition to that... 1) The appetizer pizza tray!! YES YES YES. Under $30, delicious, and enough food to feed a whole army. I don't know anywhere else in town that does this thick crust, soft, three-style pizza tray, and I probably won't look very hard as Guidas is NAILING IT. The tray comes with a Greek, a pepperoni, and a garlic bread style 'za. Order this if you're in the mood for something that can sit out for awhile and is an easy crowd pleaser. 2) Their sheet pizzas are just as good as their other size offerings, which is hard to come by! I've ordered sheets from other places in the neighborhood and they just aren't as good. The wings here are also phenom and the hot packs a serious punch. I always forget that they offer great sub options as well, and don't know why I don't walk over for lunch more frequently. Service at this location is fairly hot and miss, and I always feel like they are training new hires on a constant basis. Most of my phone orders take double the time as trainees have to continually check in with their trainer. This doesn't bug me at all but it does lead to inconsistent service. Terrible Cheese Burger Subs on Sept 12th @ the Gates location on Elmgrove road. My wife placed an order over the phone for 2 cheeseburger subs for pickup. Arrived at the location for pickup, girl indicated it was going to another 5 minutes, actually was 10 minutes or more I waited. When we got home an open up our subs, we both noticed that the hamburgers completely dried out, over cooked to the point they were almost burned. This is for Empire Blvd. location: Pizza is quite good, but they mess up the order 50% of the time I've had delivery. By the time it arrives I'm too tired and hungry to complain. Next time I'll try to order by phone instead of online, maybe it'll make a difference. If not, it's worth the drive to Cams. 5 stars for the "Famous Schwartzkoff": "The best sub ever created!" Ham, chicken tenders, swiss, mozzarella, lettuce, onion, mayo, sweet & sour all melted on the roll. Sandwich was awesome when we ate it there freshly made. Though we got it once for delivery and way better when eaten there. This is bfs favorite sandwich that exists. Everything else 4 stars. We got wings (honey garlic buffalo), garlic knots, cheese slices and chicken bacon ranch slices. Pizza slices: come in 2s (I didn't know this and ordered WAY too much food for our family). We the people... are Guida people. I really like the enormous slices that are the size of your house served up by Guida. They are sort of like jumbo New York slices. They taste better than the DC equivalent, because that is the other city that I remember being famous for enormous slices other than Rochester. The best places to get slices in Rochester are not these jumbo slice places but places like Pizza Stop downtown. But nevertheless these are worth a try if you are hungry for pizza in this area. Solid spot for a slice or an entire pie. It is small and somewhere hot inside but they do offer indoor dining. They also have other options.

Though the dough is fresh made and tastes good, the sauce is prepared canned and tastes it. The cheese has that slightly chewy rubbery texture. Calzone was overfilled with toppings all on the middle leaving a large portion of the dough on top raw. The dipping sauce was cold, calzone was uncut and was too raw in the middle to pickup and eat. Cutting it lead to ever further issues of eating due to poor topping distribution and quality. Large cheese pizza was properly cooked but again quality of topping ingredients is greatly lacking. Maybe a little parmesan cheese thrown in. A mother sauce you can put on everything from pasta to calzones to meatball subs. No. It was right out of the can. cold. Tasted awful. The meatlovers pizza we ordered several weeks ago was terrible. Both myself and my husband got sick. They also goofed up or chicken wing order. I addressed this twice with two different managers and was met with opposition and they blamed it on the supposed "throw up" bug going around. That is the biggest excuse in the book and not one person that I know complained about any such thing. The second manager I spoke to was absolutely RUDE and unapologetic to any of our concerns. We will NEVER patronize this business again. I gave it one star and that is not even deserved in my humble opinion. This is a "Love/Hate" more like "disappointed" review. I've loved Guida's for over 20 years - but tonight I stopped in at 6:05pm and ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza to go. The person at the counter asked the cook to make sure they had it (as the counter staff always does). At 6:25 I asked the same counter staff if they had to make it as it was an unusually long wait for a slice to go. They told me "no" but didn't bother to check. At 6:31pm I walked out with my very expensive bottle of water (meaning I never got my pizza) as I had somewhere to be and at that point was now running late. I miss living in walking distance from this place. Pizza is good, not thin and not super thick or doughy. When we get the wings we get their buffalo wing sauce, it's delicious. Hot sandwiches are unique and good here too. I have gotten the chicken finger ones and turkey ones in the past, never been disappointed. Lately I have used them for catering for work and home. The sub trays are good quality and don't skimp on the toppings. They also give you plenty of condiments, pickles and peppers/onions to put on your sub. The regular trays come with turkey, ham, tuna salad, roast beef and Italian assorted. The Italian is my favorite. I really like their sub trays because of the bread they use. Last time I was here I was 8 months pregnant so I splurged and bought a cookie too.... big cookie and I devoured it pretty quickly. Mark and Lyn were amazing helping me coordinate a large catering order on very short notice. I've been feeding this group for 4 years and Guida's is by far the best we've ever had. They helped me estimate the right amount of food for 45 very hungry college baseball players and coaches, made great suggestions, and made everything so simple. (Even advised me I really didn't need a third tray of ziti but I ordered it "just in case" - they were right and I appreciate the honesty!). Everything they said about quantities, portion size, quality was exactly true. Everyone loved the food! Chicken parm, meatballs, ziti, green beans, garlic knots!!!! were all excellent! The garlic knots really are as good as they say! Everyone got plenty. Delivery was exactly on time. And delivered everything we ordered.
