Vegetarian, Guido's Special, Greek Style Combo, Chef's Mistake, Meatlover, Italian Classics like Lasagna, Spaghetti (4 styles), as well as Greek Pizza and Greek Salad. Very disappointed. Was looking forward to eating here tonight, have had great food here in the past. It's a seat yourself (no one to even greet you at the door, just a janky sign). There were about 3 or 4 tables occupied (of about 30+). Plus a separate group having pizzas at a meeting in an area towards the back. Only saw one employee. A waitress? She walked by us about a dozen times, looked at us never even said a word. After 25 minutes, we decided to leave because we wanted to eat before our show. I recently went there with my youngest, and they did not disappoint. Not only do they have consistently delicious food, but service was friendly, warm, and courteous. Food came exactly as ordered, and was hot and ready when I arrived. Wings are crunchy, well seasoned, served as a dry wing. I ordered the garlic parmesan wings. I liked how the garlic and Italian seasoning blended well with Parm cheese sprinkled on top and it was not overly garlicky. I liked it this was. Reminded me of how wings are made in Buffalo, NY. I also order the Guido Special pizza with pepperoni, sausage, black olives, and mushrooms. This is my ideal pizza order and was pleasantly surprised to see it on the menu as a normal pizza. The price was also more affordable than if I added all the toppings onto a 2 topping pizza. This pizza was great- thick hand tossed crust that is crunchy on the bottom but soft and chewy on the inside. The pizza has a good layer of chesse and sauce. The sauce is on the sweeter side but paired well with the toppings. The toppings were ample and covered the whole pizza. A big plus for me! First time coming here but I expect to come back to try some of their other offerings. Saved about $4 bucks not ordering through the app but calling the restaurant directly. If ordering late at night, plan to pick up at the backdoor between the strip malls -it is lit and plenty of parking for a pick up. What a disappointment. When we used to live on this side of town, we loved Guido's. I'll be honest, the food has never been great, but the portions were historically generous, and the quirky atmosphere and friendly service made up for the cafeteria quality food. Fast forward to now. We waited for a ridiculous amount of time for our food, which when it arrived was incorrect and gross. The portions were also noticeably smaller. The half the salad bar was empty, and visitors are only allowed one visit WITH A DESSERT PLATE (not even a bowl.) Insulting. The spaghetti was watery. My husband ordered a meatball sub and instead received a calzone that was hard as a rock on the outside and rubbery inside. INEDIBLE. It was also served with potato chips which is just BIZARRE. This is a place people who are long time Alaskans go for good pizza. The salad bar is sufficient and the pizza consistent. You can choose the crust you want we always get thin. My friend Gloria and I ate dinner at Guido's on February 13. She had baked lasagna and I had the meatball sandwich. Plus we got salad from the salad bar. I ordered the pizza & salads 2 days in advance since it was going to be a large order to be picked up. We'll come Wednesday I decided that it would be so much easier to have Guidos deliver so I called & asked them if they would & they were so accommodating which I appreciated due to the snow & I particularly didn't want to haul 9 pizzas, 2large Greek salads & cheese bread. I was grateful that they're open late, however I based my order on a picture that states it's from the owner. Also thinking the entire country agrees what ingredients makes a Margherita Pizza. Apparently I was wrong, after some research I found that there are other versions, mostly in the frozen pizza section. When I opened the pizza box and saw regular mozzarella with chopped tomatoes and what looked like sprinkled oregano, I instantly thought the wrong order was given to me, but when I showed them, they assured me that it was their version of a Margherita. I showed them the picture, which had red sauce, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil, they apologized. The takeout area is in the rear of the restaurant, basically in the kitchen and it was getting a bit full of customers and I decided to just take my pizza. All this after having to drive over to the nearest ATM, paying an additional four dollar fee, because their payment system was down. Lesson learned!! Looking close at their menu their "MARGARITA HOUSE SPECIFICALLY PIZZA" states: Cooked tomatoes & basil. So if you want a cheese, cubed tomatoes and dried herbs pizza, by all means! I came down here for lunch the other day and came across a pleasant surprise. I'll elaborate more on that in a little bit since I can honestly say that I wish I could've gone here much sooner. The dining area is massive with antiques adorning the surrounding walls by the booths and a raised central seating area big enough for large groups with an all you can eat salad bar on one side. This is a family run establishment with a good amount of weekday regulars during the lunch rush. Guido's pizza has by the far the best lunch deals for pizza by the slice at $2 regardless of whether it is a slice of cheese or a specialty pizza. I opted for a couple of Greek style slices with Canadian bacon, hamburger, mushrooms, and onions with a butter garlic crust. The salad bar can be added for an additional $6.95 for a full plate or a couple of dollars more for all you can eat, very reasonable prices. There are fast food meals nearby with a smaller amount a few dollars more by comparison. The pizza was delicious with emphasis on the crispy butter garlic crust baked with full flavor. Likewise, the toppings and cheese were generous to make for a filling meal. The salad bar was well-stocked with a wide variety of vegetables along with a choice of pasta salad, potato salad, or cottage cheese on the side. The slices on display are kept well-heated by the front counter and you can immediately head straight for the salad bar after taking a table or booth. I mentioned a pleasant surprise at the beginning of this review and it had nothing to do with the lunch specials. To my amazement, there was a tiny antique shop off to the side by the entrance that is operated by the owner's sister on Thursdays and Fridays. There, on top of a small table that seemed to be waiting for me, were two crates of vinyl records! I snatched up a couple of classic albums by the Eagles and The Big Chill movie soundtrack filled with Motown hits from the 60's and 70's. I couldn't think of a more perfect way to end my lunch break as I headed back to work. read more

I was told this pizza was similar to east coast style pizza, so I was let down from the average doughy ness to this pizza, the sauce was okay but seemed slightly sweet. I'm all not bad, just not east coast style. Salads are HUGE, the Greek salad was decent, but had this weird ham in it... the dressing was my favorite part. Chicken wings were great, nice crisp and tang to the sauce! And the blue cheese dipping sauce is perfect chunk to creaminess ratio. My service experience was weird here, I waited at the front where is told me to wait and rang the bell the note said to ring for service... no one came, so I had to find a server and ask for help... kinda bummed. read more

Been 3 years since I went to Guidos after A nightmare experience trying to get my check. Over 30 minutes. Like I said, I was never closer to walking a check as I was that day. Today I decided to try the Stromboli. (Stepping outside the pizza box) .... sounded good and I have never had bad food at Guidos. Little bit of added decor in the dining room. Nice touch. As I sit here on Sunday afternoon, I am the only person here besides a large Softball end of season party. (This has always been a great place for groups) wow! Stromboli was huge. Went in for a lunch meeting mid-week. The place was super empty, and I don't really understand why. The Stromboli was good enough, not great, but most restaurants in Anchorage don't even have Stromboli. The salad bar was great! It wasn't greasy and everything tasted very fresh, the pizza crust was so tasty like homemade crust and wasn't overly crunchy and oily like most places. It was also one of the few places still delivering with all the snow and they were so nice/apologetic in advance if it took a while (not that it's really in their control at all with the road conditions). The sign said seat yourself. I sat myself. Waited 10-15 minutes. A blonde woman eventually saw me and told me I sat in the wrong place, and she would've never seen me, the opposite of an apology for waiting so long. I sat down where she told me to, and immediately ordered. I thought she picked up on the fact that I had been waiting and was hungry and alone, just wanted 1 item. After 15 minutes I had to pull her aside (was never checked on), to tell her I'd like to pay ahead of time. I gave her my card, she quickly returned it. I wrote my tip at 25% as usual. I then waited another 15-20 minutes... no food. People that came in after me were served before me.. I walked out to my car angry having spent an hour in the restaurant. Being so hungry, I left my keys at the table. I came back in half expecting her to say something, and I even sat back down talking myself into maybe getting my food still. After 5 minutes I left again. This was the worst service I've ever had in Anchorage. Someone should be monitoring their employees better. This woman was rude, and clearly didn't get my food in when she was supposed to. I'm sure it wasn't the kitchens fault. She was clearly distracted and schmoozing with her regulars instead of providing the bare minimum for me. I still left my tip and paid. But I hope she gets lit up by her boss because of this review.
