My husband and I stopped in for a pizza lunch date and never got past the foyer. There was one sole body in the corner booth by the kitchen that looked at us but other than that there wasn't a soul around. My husband and I stood there for a solid five minutes waiting for someone to greet us or give us direction but no one came. After five minutes of standing there we gave up and left. The door had a bell on it for crying out loud. Good thing we're decent people. Anyone can apparently walk in and out unnoticed and access the front counter. We will never be back. If you want to sit down and eat without having to walk back to the kitchen and beg to be helped then this isn't the place for you. We were appalled. read more

OK, I love pizza, have sought out the best in 30 of the 50 US states, in Anchorage, I say it is here, For Alaska, I find no better choice. Now, Ive gotten delivery 100 times and went for dine in once. The pizza, well it looks like bowling ally pizza, which is usually worse than frozen....But it "looks" like only, as far as taste goes, OH Man pizza joy. I dont care what it looks like it will taste the best, i dont know what they have going on here as it is probably a secret, but the results are Awesome Pizza that will make you a repeat customer like me. read more

Wife called and said she was ordering pizza for dinner. But since I had pizza for lunch, I asked her to order me some chicken wings. When they arrived at the house, they had no flavoring. No sauce. Nothing. Just a boring, tasteless wing with ranch. In looking at their menu, there are no options for buffalo or any other flavoring. Just "Chicken Wings." Boring. read more

Laughed at the review that said the dough was chewy and full bodied...a nice way to say it resembled leather...which is closer to accurate. Huge Greek salad is a great deal for a group of 4 to 8 - they get an extra star for that. Service leaves a lot to be desired - especially on Friday nights. We had to get silverware from a nearby empty table and use an empty bread basket for one of our groups' salad plate since we didn't get enough and all the waitresses where like large, lumbering, rarely sighted ghosts. Think the manager likes to hire women for wait staff who seem bothered by customers asking for things...like water refills. We frequently apologized for asking for things (like napkins) and tried to stay super positive. Heard similar comments from what we experienced from other tables as well. Appears they might want to consider hiring a person to clear, clean, and set tables as a number of tables still had trash, used cups, and old food on them when we came in. NOT a good first impression. Salad bar is somewhat on the pitiful side (i'm being kind) and WAAAAY overpriced for a single visit or the all you can eat option. Which drove us to the giant Greek platter of salad - the one great thing about the visit. Menu needs an update as the descriptions of the food are nearly non-existent. Pictures might help if words don't work. At least the management could make the food sound appetizing. I'm guessing they do a pretty big lunch business given they sell big slices however for a dinner place, there are plenty of other, better options even without the long line at the 'tooth. One other plus is they stay open to 2 am though I bet the crowd ordering a calzone at 1:30 am is likely pretty lit or have a LYFT light in the window. read more

So I ordered a chefs mistake, easy on the sauce and extra cheese. The pizza showed up within 35 minutes. To my dismay there was practically no cheese on my pizza, I called and they insisted on sending out a fresh pizza, it arrived in about 30 minutes and was piping hot with gobs of cheese on it. I offered the driver the original pizza back and he told me to keep it..... all I can say is nobody is perfect but I've only complained to them twice in over ten years of ordering from them and they step up and take care of me immediately, and not to mention that they have some of the best pizza in anchorage.....:) read more

Not happy with Guidos. Here's the problem, the pizza was underdone, it was not cooked properly. A simple 1/2 veggie and pepperoni pizza and I asked for it to be remade. The waitress took it back, but she came back with a message from the kitchen blaming me that I ordered it wrong. Excuse me?.. I ordered it wrong?. No, I have been going to Guido's every once in awhile for 20 years and I never had to give such a specific order. Look its UNDERBAKED, see the paste like smear, thats underbaked. Dont blame me, you are the cook, make it work. It can be done, other places do it just fine .. I literally was told by the waitress from the kitchen I have to order it thin crust, extra crispy. To be fair, the redo was good but there was alot less toppings, I'm sure that was intentional to reduce the soggy crust. Second Issue, stock your salad bar, there is no reason that any item should run out. Honestly there isn't much reason to go to Guidos, I understand there is lots of room for a team or for gatherings but the experience was less than average. read more

Guido's used to sponsor a lot of kids sport leagues, and we always stopped by for a team dinner. I remember the pizza being really rich; tons of cheese, not many toppings. "Wonder-Waitress and the Klutzy Girl" by Embarrassed (But Happy) Customer Once upon a time, my husband and I were looking for dinner at a late hour, and were happy to see one of our favorite pizza places had their doors open. I'd never gone inside before, and the atmosphere was immediately cute and quirky. I wanted to buy things from the wall. The size of the place is huge, easily enough seating for multiple pizza parties or families or probably the entire cast of Game of Thrones, or season 1 anyway. We ordered and received fresh hot appetizers, and drink refills were brought to us before we even asked. Let me repeat that: our server brought us full drinks before we even asked for refills. It was amazing. I'm not sure if I believe in psychic abilities, but that's a different review. Pizza was fantastic as usual, and I just had to let our server know that her service was so outstanding that I was in the middle of leaving a 5* review. And that's when I knocked my entire soda cup over onto the table. Yep. Luckily it was mostly easy to mop up, and we all started laughing pretty hard, but the best part was that I left Guido's knowing I'd feel right at home again next time. Guido's used to have the best pizza and Calzone's in town. Used to. We had a meat lovers pizza, greek salad, and a couple different calzones. The pizza's used to have a lot of toppings on them but now they are more like a pizza hut or Little ceasars pizza. I would rather pay a buck or 2 more to have the pizza the way it used to be. The calzones were mostly dough, very skimpy on the fillings. The Greek Salad was good. Please Guido, go back to the way you were doing things or you will have lost several customers. read more

Nothing to write home about. For starters, if you're going to say there's pepperoni on the pizza (Guido's Special) you should probably actually put pepperoni on it. Don't bother with the Sam's Club cheesecake. The Diet Coke I had was good. read more

In Anchorage there are not a lot of sit-down pizza places so even though Guido's was a bit of a drive for us we decided to try it anyway. That was our first big mistake! We had an awful experience. First thing you notice is this place has an identity issue. The place is decorated very strangely. When the waitress served us water she spilled a large amount of water into one of our tablemates lap. Accidents happen but the waitress made little apology and she clearly has no customer skills and no business serving food. Next our beer pitcher shows up (not spilled) but it tasted like dish soap. The waitress returned with a new pitcher. Finally the pizza arrived and it was just okay at best. When we tried to pay (very disorganized staff) they wanted to charge us for the beer that was returned. There is no manager on staff but after arguing with someone that said she is Guido's "granddaughter" she did not charge us for the returned beer. All that said I would NOT recommend this place and I would give it a NEGATIVE star rating if that was possible. STAY AWAY! read more

While in Anchorage we ordered a delivery pizza from Guido's.e heard they had pretty good pizza, however we did read one really negative ad concerning their delivery. We assumed someone just was having a bad day or maybe it was just an off night at Guidos/\. We ordered a pizza and about an hour later we called. They said -Oh- it will be right out. About 1/2 hr. later the delivery man sauntered in swinging the pizza carrier in the air. We stopped him & asked him if that was for us. He was rude, & uncommunicative He took the money as hed deaded out the door without even asking if we wanted change. The pizza itself was good, however lots of places have good pizza with better customer service. We would not order here again just because of the delivery service. Order somewhere else. Y'know what? These guys came and found us in an rv in the cabelas parking lot at 12:30am, and the driver nailed it based on the camper-description i gave over the phone; that's five star service! Moreover, the pizza was fabulous! Me? I love a good crust, and guido's doesn't disappoint... nice crunch, with that good doughy texture i love once you pierce the shell. Excellent sauce, prominently featured, but no skimping on cheese or toppings (in fact, i'd say they got the ratios pretty much perfect). Was doing a doordash order, first thing that was off was the front being closed. Maybe it was a push door but whatever. Also, there was no sign reaffirming to head to the back as instructed if you're a delivery driver. Myself and my fiancé then reread the pickup instructions which told us to go around back. So, we went ahead and went around back as instructed. I knocked on the door since I wasn't about to walk into their kitchen unannounced, that'd be unprofessional. I went ahead and knocked and got no response, so I called explaining that I had a doordash order to pickup, the response I got was that I was crazy and needed to check my facts, they then proceeded to hang up the phone. A minute later I decided to knock again only to be confronted by an employee accusing me of being on crack. After trying to explain for the second time that I had a doordash order for [redacted] I then proceeded to be escorted by the employee back inside, what I saw next was absolutely without a doubt the most abysmally discombobulated mess of a kitchen I could've ever seen. Nobody was keeping track of who was doing what and weren't even wearing masks. Social distancing wasn't even being enforced. During this time I was also informed that they get a lot of " scam calls. " Although they might have had a tough break, that should be no reason to hang up before explaining what order was placed and at least attempting to communicate what I'm calling about in the first place. I'm amazed we even were able to complete the order! For overpriced food, during a global pandemic I would expect higher standards of professionalism and courtesy to those working with them. Not to " check your facts " or " get off crack, " that's appalling. I have never personally had any of the food there but I definitely will never consider doing so now. read more

It's a shame because their food is decent, but certainly not good enough to deal with the people answering phone calls for delivery orders. Compared to the equivalent pizza delivery places, Domino's and Capone's Pizza, Guido's Pizza delivery was 45 minutes slower than Domino's and 50 minutes slower than Capone's Pizza! The tall driver in the Hawaiian shirt for Guido's Pizza had a "talk back" attitude when he was not tipped because of how long he took. Domino's and Capone's Pizza delivery drivers NEVER have this attitude when not tipped. The woman taking the delivery order for Guido's Pizza also had a seemingly uncaring attitude about time. She said, "We will see you when we see you." Capone's Pizza always says "Give us 35 minutes." They usually show up 10 minutes early!! Unknown if Domino's has any kind of unwelcome attitude over the phone as the app is always used to order from them. The Guido's Pizza delivery driver did NOT have a "Guido's" sign on his vehicle. Domino's and Capone's Pizza delivery drivers ALWAYs have identifying signs on their vehicles. read more

My husband and I have been going here for years for lunch. I always get a slice of pizza any kind and a one trip salad bar. I'm never disappointed. It's better than fast food and it's inexpensive. I had my 9yo daughters birthday here last October it was much more affordable than anywhere else and lots of room for everybody. Co-worker and I ordered take out...2 Greek salads. Brought it back to work and found out the salad was missing the meat on both salads. Called to let them know about the missing meat and was told that was not possible since the salads are checked before leaving. Was asked to search under the cheese for the meat. After checking again, let them know that there was no meat. Was told to come back and will be given the missing meat. That was not really an option at this point since didn't have enough time left for lunch. Was told the only other option would be to bring it back and maybe get a refund...pending approval from the boss who was not there. So no lunch today. Taking back the salad after work, hopefully for a refund. Very poor customer service. Will not be going back! read more

It is interesting that this is read on their "no one will leave without having had a great meal." That only applies if you can actually get served. We had a party of 7, and said we would take 2 booths if that helped (there were several available). We were told there was no room for us at that time, and would have to wait. Brought a small group in last weekend. There was only one other table being used at the time. The first thing I noticed was food on the floor near the table. There seemed to be one waitstaff for the entire establishment. It took about 15 minutes before orders were taken. The salad bar was pretty empty, and warm! All of the other tables were set with tableware, ours were not. We had to go from table to table hunting for forks and knives. Water and sugar for iced tea was also self-service. The food was pretty average, but I have to say there was a lot of it. We will however be crossing Guido's off our return list. read more

Ok, TV ad looked wonderful, ready to pack up the kids and head out. So very disappointing when we visited in person. Pizza's are very limited. One in my party ordered the slice of pizza and one draft beer. Beer was served in a bottle. Slice of pizza was fairly generous but looked, tasted and acted like it had either been on the warming tray for several hours or carried over from the night before. Tasted like cardboard, lukewarm and very tough. Then we had ordered a pepperoni pizza to share, when delivered much later it was delicious BUT- you guessed it I bet....Cheese pizza. Not a pepperoni in sight. One ice tea (2.50), medium glass, filled with ice, very little tea and no offer of refill. The veggie Stromboli was awesome, hence the two stars. Would not recommend this place (P.S. Salad bar was adequate, one visit 6.95! And plate was small salad plate. ) Pizza menu was very limited in choices of combos, otherwise $ for each added topping.
