I was in a pinch for dinner so I visited Guido's. Guido's is one of several Italian restaurants on the hill and on a busy night, they were able to seat us quickly. My party and I ordered bruschetta and toasted raviolis to start with and then I followed it up with the Guidos Supreme panini based on the servers recommendation. The food came out hot and quick. Been here a couple times and it's always good. We got seated pretty quick on a Tuesday night before 6. Our server was super nice and they have a great menu. Food came out pretty quick and the drinks too. We got the soup, a pizza, and fettuccine with grilled chicken. Good portions and all tasted good. Guido's is my favorite!! It is my favorite spot on The Hill to get St. Louis style pizza. I live out of town and almost always make a special trip to Guido's each time I'm home to experience the delight of eating a Guido's Deluxe Pizza but I add bacon to it. It's what I remember IMO's pizza of my childhood tasting like (elder Millennial here ;-) and I just crave it. This little family owned spot is such a joy to spend time patronizing that I even celebrated a milestone birthday here with family and friends recently. We had a wonderful time! In addition to great pizza they have wonderful generously portioned Italian meets Mediterranean style dishes along with St. Louis favorites like their yummy toasted ravioli! In a large group of us that included a vegetarian and others with dietary preferences, everyone was able to enjoy a yummy dish. The staff here is attentive and knowledgeable, though sometimes I try to sneak in a bit of cheer to help them to remember to smile. I love the cozy feel to this little spot. It transports you in the best possible way to a nice and welcoming Italian dining room and I'm here for it! The cozy, intimate ambiance was perfect for our group of six, and I loved that they sat us at a circular table so we could all chat and share plates easily. Our server was super friendly and quick with drinks. For apps, the meatballs were my standout: tender, flavorful, and large enough to share with another. The goat cheese was good too, though I'd probably skip it next time--tasty, but not very "goat" forward. We loaded up our pizza with toppings, and it came out piping hot and perfectly cooked. I love Guidos! I haven't been in forever so I decided to stop in and sit at the bar. I was really craving one of their pizzas. Their thin crust St. Louis style pizza is amazing! I got the chicken Alfredo pizza. OMG it's so yummy. It has chicken and bacon on it but also spinach and red onions. Just perfect. We had a great date night here. Although the seating is a bit condensed we were able to enjoy our space. The complementary bread was basic and just ok but appreciated. We had the pizza with the mix of mozzarella and provel. It came out hot and fresh. I prefer the taste of imos better so maybe I would stick with straight up provel next time. The chicken wings were good. I got the sauce on the side because I wasn't sure of the spice level and even though it had a kick I would say it's probably tolerable being tossed in the sauce which was really good. I also feel like you get a nice portion for $13.99 which is rare these days with wings usually being so high. The Caesar salad was kind of bitter tasting. The calamari was good but a bit too salty and not meaty enough. The lemonade tasted like prairie farms so I wish they would upgrade that. Our server Alan was super attentive, and personable and did a great Job. And upon entering and exiting the staff was welcoming. Very much appreciated. Can't wait to go back for more! read more

We had a show to catch and left the house too late so we were in a hurry. I told the waitress we will be in and out and wanted her to recommend something that can be prepared fast so we wouldn't be late. We ended up ordering a few tapas and sure enough they came out one by one and fast. The lollipop tiny bite size steak was the best thing I had all week. We were in and out in less than 30 mins. The parking however was a bit tricky as the restaurant is busy and only street parking is around. read more

What a great restaurant this is here in St. Louis. I can't believe I haven't been here before, but I'm glad I'm here right now. The Italian and Spanish cuisine mixed in with the American fair gives so many options on the menu. The set up to this restaurant is fantastic. It's spacious for intimate dining along with a nice group. The decor is fantastic! Today I wanted a delicious cheeseburger and that is exactly what I got. Excellent choice for a wonderful lunch. Great Sangria for the Spanish taste and super good Salcicia sandwich that was plentiful. I let the server choose my side that was pasta with a mix of red and white sauce. The sauce could use a bit of spice but otherwise good. The sandwich was EXCELLENT! I recommend it for either a lunch or dinner meal. Fries are good too with a nice crunchy crisp. My husband and I were in the neighborhood for a party on Friday night and decided to stop at Guido's for some small plates before heading home. We arrived at 9p and they close at 10p. I was pleasantly surprised how we were treated by the staff. I've work in the restaurant business years ago and know how it feels when you are close to closing and someone walks in. We were made to feel very welcome and were given amazing service! The restaurant was very clean and had a really good vibe. I have to admit I was expecting more of an old world feel but it was more contemporary and classy. We ordered the Guido's Signature Salad, Cordero Lollipops, Patatas Bravas and Bacalao a la Vizcaína. Each dish was beautifully presented and absolutely amazing! Our favorite was the Cordero Lollipops!! Absolutely delicious. There is quite a bit to choose from on the menu and that makes me very excited! Starting with the small plates gave me the tasting that I needed and now I want more. Came to address my craving for St Louis style pizza, left relatively satisfied though wishing for a lot more Provel. You can get St Louis style pizza around Missouri, including in neighboring Kansas and (Southern) Illinois. The local delivery chain Imo's, specializes in it. Since we haven't been in the area for a while, this became my primary request for dining out when we visited the St Louis area, and our friends graciously obliged: neither think it's the greatest pizza style in the world. It was late lunch time when we came in, and the dining room was sparsely populated, but service was still excellent. They brought out carafes of tap water for us to self serve, and the menu was easy to navigate. We shared a Guido's Signature Salad (L for $12.99), and I thought it was OK: freshly made, topped with a lot of ground parmesan cheese. The type of pizza matters more about what a size can feed 4, than the diameter of the pie. For a St. Louis thin crust, a family size (16 inch) was the right size. We picked sausage and pineapple on one half, sausage and mushroom on the other ($29.99) and both were really good choices. [If you order a Pizza Special, which can have 4 - 6 predefined toppings, it's $27.99 so a better deal]. The (no fennel) sausage was generously added, chunks covering the pizza from edge to edge. Pineapple was from a can, but the mushroom was fresh. St Louis style pizza has a cracker crust (uses no yeast) , very thin and crispy. It's similar to Chicago Tavern Style, but with the use of Provel cheese and a sweeter sauce. The pizza was really good, but wish it had a lot more cheese to get the full 'Provel' effect to cut some of the blandness (since the crust is like a really crispy cracker), but maybe that's the way unless you order extra cheese. The server regularly checked up on us, and paying was easy at the table. It was a good choice for a casual pizza lunch. read more

This place was recommended to me by my cousin. He said it was one of the better restaurants in the Hill. After watching a Cardinal W, we headed this way for dinner. The place look kind of small but all the tables were filled with diners. We were seated promptly. After looking over the menu for a minute, I decided on the Chicken Parmesan. It included a starter salad, and a side of pasta with sauce. The Caesar salad was a nice start to our meal. I appreciated how plentiful they were with the cheese. Our entrees were brought shortly after. The Chicken Parmesan was on point! It was a larger piece than I expected. The coating on the chicken was light and not greasy at all. The pasta with sauce was a good accompaniment for main. Food and service were both excellent. I would definitely visit again. read more

We came here today to celebrate my big birthday! We made a reservation days ago because it was 7 of us. We were at the back of the restaurant, with other big parties. Our server was nice and helpful. We got toasted ravioli- delish as always! Chicken Alfredo pizza family size to share- amazing as always! Caprese salad- tasty! I talked my mother-in-law in trying cannelloni and she said it was very very good! Father in law got veal parm and liked it a lot. Husband got pasta with mushrooms and broccoli and loved it. We brought cake from outside. We were given gigantic knife( now I need one at home) and plates and utensils. We left a slice for the owner and hope he was able to try it. We wanted to find a nice Italian restaurant in The Hill for a family dinner, complete with two kids, and Guido's was our pick! It was our first time there, but it was so great! The kids were hungry right away, so we ordered a meatball to start, and then about twenty other dishes! I came in thinking we were going to order Italian, but we ended up doing tapas and it was great! We got to try more dishes, and we had the best sangria ever! The service was great, and we entertained the kids so it wouldn't get too loud, but the atmosphere in the dining room was a good level of quiet chatter without it being too loud and overwhelming. Went to Guidos this month to meet a friend for dinner. We skipped appetizers and just had some bread till our salads arrived. I had Chicken Parm and my friend had Chicken Marsala. Both meals were excellent. The owner and server were both super friendly not even kicking us out of our booth after we finished eating, so we stayed awhile and had some conversation while I had a drink. Our evening plans changed, and we ended up popping into Guido's later than we normally would have, around 8:30pm. We were greeted warmly and personably, seated immediately and assured getting dinner would not be an issue at all. Our waiter was great, the food was delicious and the dessert cannoli was one of the best I've ever had (and I consider myself a cannoli connoisseur lol). I went out with family that live in St. Louis to try Guido's for the first time. I like how this is an Italian Spanish spot! Everyone I went with has been here before and loved it, so I was excited. We went on Sunday evening and it was busy, but not too crowded. We sat inside, however they have a cute small outdoor patio. This place is located in The Hill and has street parking. Our server was attentive and helpful! I was deciding between a couple pastas and asked for her opinion. She guided me towards the lasagna as she said it is most popular! It was fantastic. It came out in a metal dish, which kept it extremely hot. It was bursting of flavor- you could taste the garlic, tomato, cheese- just levels of flavor. The group also got D'Angelo special, Chicken Siciliano with pasta, side of Pattatas Brava and signature salad. All were extremely good!! Even the broccoli that was paired with the D'Angelo special was super flavorlful. I tried every dish and legit had no complaints at all. I can't wait to come back and try more! This was better than I thought. The sauce was very tasty and light while the cheese combination worked well together. The little pieces of sausage were good too. My friends and I were in Missouri for only a few days so we had limited time to try out St. Louis style pizza. We've heard how controversial the cracker thin crust was, along with the Provel cheese and had to check it out for ourselves. After a bit of Yelping, we settled on checking out Guido's Pizzeria & Tapas. When we arrived around 6:15 p.m., the restaurant was fairly crowded. We put our names down and was told the wait might be close to an hour but to our surprise, it ended up being closer to 15 minutes. After being seated, we placed our order of one family sized Guido's deluxe, lamb lollipops, a large Guido's signature salad, fried calamari, and their combo appetizer platter of toasted ravioli, chicken wings, chicken strips and breaded artichokes. Overall, the food here is spectacular and the St. Louis style pizza 100% lived up to the hype. Everyone in my party absolutely loved the crunch of the thin crust, and we all raved about the house made sausage on the pizza. The amount of food we ordered to far too ambitious though and we ended up taking home half a pizza. If I were to stop by again, I would possible not over-order the fried calamari, the combo appetizer platter, and the signature salad in order to make space for more of the delicious pizza. At the end of your meal, be sure to save room for some gooey butter cake. This was my first time trying it and I simply can't get enough of it. We ordered a single slice to share amongst our group of 4 and after a single bite, everyone was tempted to order their own. Last but not least, service here is A+. We started with the combo appetizer platter to get the Toasted Ravioli and to try their Breaded Artichokes which the combo also came with wings & chicken tenders. All were very flavorful especially the sauce, but a little too breaded for our liking. We shared the Seafood Ravioli and that was more to our liking; however a bit on the oily side.
